- omnithought, on 02/29/2008, -3/+61Too little too late, Pelosi. Should've grown that half a nut a long time ago.
- nicktx, on 02/29/2008, -8/+47There's a lot Congress can do including shutting down the government by not funding it. The republicans did that in the Clinton years. It's difficult to override the president with GOP obstructing everything but if Congress wants to play hardball it has a huge arsenal. The democrats however are trying to be responsible and that often makes them cave to Bush bullying instead of creating a crisis. Not a good way to deal with bullies.
- inactive, on 02/29/2008, -5/+42FTFA: Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said "this sort of pandering to the left-wing fever swamps of loony liberal activists does nothing to make America safer."
Sounds just like the right wing nutters who post on Digg. I wonder if Mr Steel posts as poser or as spaz? - nicktx, on 02/29/2008, -3/+39Or, when the AG refuses to call a grand jury Congress can flex its powers and take care of it itself: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/04/opinion/04tue4.h ...
- jaymzdean, on 02/29/2008, -8/+37This is political theatre.
Pelosi is as much an opponent of GW
as eucalyptus is an opponent of Koala bears. - ehalasey, on 02/29/2008, -3/+32Suddenly she cares about the wishes of the people she's representing? What's the payoff? I'm all for her pushing for investigations, but this sudden change in tack stinks to high heaven.
- principle, on 02/29/2008, -24/+50Pelosi is “pleading” with Justice Department to save Congress from becoming irrelevant. She is in denial that it is too late now to save the republic. Short of a military coup, there is nothing to stop Bush.
- manano, on 02/29/2008, -8/+33Too little too late.... the damage has been done.... Emperor Bush has crippled the U.S.A. more than any terrorist act could ever have.
- HouseofEl, on 02/29/2008, -3/+24Too little too late Pelosi. She failed and folded just as quick as all the others. Nice work first female speaker of the house.
- TTrav61, on 02/29/2008, -2/+19she is only a few years to late here. i dont think this will accomplish anything. its a shame she never pushed for something that would actually help, like impeachment charges. Pelosi = spineless.
- NBGill, on 02/29/2008, -3/+20Since the WH says that Bush was never involved, he cannot invoke executive privilege. The Dems have the WH skewered on the horns of its own dilemma. Either Bush was involved (which he will never admit) and can try the executive privilege ruse, or he wasn't and there is no privilege. He can't have it both ways.
- defwheezer, on 02/29/2008, -0/+17It must be because.... Elections coming, elections coming!
- meshman, on 02/29/2008, -5/+22"Pelosi calls for grand jury to investigate --- Bush -------"
You have good aim but you keep missing the mark for some reason. - norman619, on 02/29/2008, -2/+17Congress hasn't carried out the will oof the people for how long now? She and the other politicians have made congress useless all on their own. I mean come on! She promised change and all she managed to do was change the lunch menu. What a joke.
- Zlorp, on 02/29/2008, -1/+16why doesnt she just ask Bush if she can impeach him?
- noahhoward, on 02/29/2008, -0/+14Swrostmore it takes sheer blind ignorance to still think congress gives a damn about 'stopping' Bush.
- swrostmore, on 02/29/2008, -1/+14"loony liberal activists?" Sounds suspiciously like the mating call of oolloo/liberalplacebo/vvtf/sharkbump/whatever his latest screen name is: "dopey liberal moonbats."
- Ajajadude, on 02/29/2008, -11/+24Except for the whole voting-for-the-next-president thing...I think they call it a presidential election. And, please, don't give me the tinfoil hat crap about how Bush will do what he can to stay in power. That sort of thing usually requires the support of the military, and last I checked, he didn't have much in the way of that.
- kolobcreek, on 02/29/2008, -2/+14Glad she waited for an Election Year
- Spoomeister, on 03/01/2008, -1/+13Impeachment: off the table.
Chasing after presidential flunkies: on the table.
Investigating steroid usage in baseball: on the table, tablecloth and good china laid out, butlers on standby. - billraydrums, on 02/29/2008, -0/+12Another toothless mandate by a completely benign leader. Bollocks!
Too little, too late. May they all be tried for their crimes and convicted accordingly. - eavonius, on 02/29/2008, -1/+12Nothing to see here, total political stunt she can't and won't do anything.
- SilverBlade2k, on 02/29/2008, -2/+13how about investigating some of the Bush staff for connections within Big Oil, to uncover conflict of interest?
- inactive, on 02/29/2008, -5/+15Investigate ***** Condosleeza while you're at it, she's up to no good.
- PorkFat, on 02/29/2008, -2/+12All empty rhetoric. It's what the current congress is known for. Capitulating and bowing to the feet of their republican overlords. Has the current congress ever shown a spine towards any of the unjust acts? No, and they won't this time either. Garbage.
- grungegbunny, on 02/29/2008, -4/+13What? Pelosi has a backbone after all?
- tomservo51, on 02/29/2008, -0/+9IN other news. Nothing happens to nothing in nothing.
- mmmmmbiscuits, on 03/01/2008, -1/+9Hate teh jooooooz much?
- NotAChickenHawk, on 02/29/2008, -1/+9How many months (or is it years) ago did the alleged perjury occur? What the heck has she been waiting for?
- dizilbdog, on 02/29/2008, -0/+8She won't go through with it. She hasn't done much since she got into office. Give me a break.....
- PopcornDave, on 03/01/2008, -0/+7You're right. Nancy Pelosi has a much better chance of Domino's delivering a pizza in under 30 minutes than she does at having any shot at relevance at this point.
- shanehonda, on 05/19/2009, -1/+8Dugg, but why did this take so long? Pelosi rather sucks at her job thus far...
- jellygraph, on 03/01/2008, -0/+7Do what you feel like doing, Pelosi, but you aren't fooling anyone. We all know the crimes extend far far beyond a few staffers. A few hearings here and there is not going to make up for the huge disappointment after democrats got elected as the majority in congress... to gain our respect again, you are going to have to do a _lot_ more than that
- salinemist, on 03/01/2008, -0/+7Wait until they find out a Bush staffer took steroids, you haven't seen the wrath of this Democrat congress yet!
- yaryarhumphump, on 02/29/2008, -2/+9This woman has rolled over for Bush so many times she could be a show dog..... this means nothing.
- inactive, on 02/29/2008, -3/+10right, this could possibly be anything more than a little face-saving theater. she has long since shown her true colors; what a lapdog.
or, whoever she's investigating must have drawn the line on some further gross abuse of justice, and now they're being punished. what a charade.
or, maybe it's just a little pony show to whip up the right wing morons who actually see her as a threat, laughable. - inactive, on 02/29/2008, -2/+9This bitch is taking her time, this is *****. Who has the power to remove her? This bitch needs to be taken out of office for taking her time doing her job of checking and balancing bush.
- kingUssop, on 02/29/2008, -4/+10Meanwhile, we all laugh sadly, because President Scroob should be up for war crimes, not getting empty threats over things that demanded action a year ago.
- inactive, on 02/29/2008, -2/+8I KNOW! Congress's approval rating is lower than Bush's! What a joke.
- NJank, on 03/01/2008, -1/+7ewww...
seeing as how that analogy relates to eating... i just had a horrible vision. must...drink...to...forget... - biotch, on 03/01/2008, -0/+5lol.... yeah cuz Id much rather have a republican in her place exacerbating all the idiotic moves Bush makes.
- mmmmmbiscuits, on 03/01/2008, -4/+9"Short of a military coup, there is nothing to stop Bush."
ZOMFG! How do you get to sleep at night with all this rampant ***** fascism? I'll bet you keep a 9mm under your pillow, eh? Make sure your crocodile tears don't foul the mechanicals, Sally. - moxley, on 03/01/2008, -0/+4You know what? ***** Pelosi, she's a sell out *****.
Playing politics and refusing to even look at doing anything real while this fascist administration (with the help of several before it) marches us towards martial law. What does Bush/Rove have on her. Do they have a control file with her name on it?
Yeah, great, prosecute "some key staffers" for contempt of congress...Well, I hold HER STUPID ASS IN CONTEMPT. She has contempt for our freedom and she can suck a red white and blue *****!
This is like prosecuting some "key Stalin staffers" for "contempt of politboro" and ignoring his murderous genocide.
WTFWTFTWTF I am really starting to hate this patsy bitch. - Wargalas, on 02/29/2008, -6/+10Told you so.
Love,
The Republicans. - pianomahnn, on 02/29/2008, -9/+13Blackwater?
- kreneskyp, on 02/29/2008, -2/+6I like how investigating clemens happened immediately and its taken years to investigate bush and his cronies. cheating at baseball is serious (im a rabid sox fan) and they should be punished, but taking up congresses time is a ***** waste. If they have time to investigate this then impeachment and all the other investigations better go forward too
- inactive, on 03/01/2008, -0/+4It's always theater. That's the first thing they learn in law school. They always create these little non issues which hold the public's attention while something big happens in the background that we only find out about months later.
- inactive, on 03/01/2008, -1/+5Conflict of interest does not exist anymore. Not when ex-CEOs ride into office on a presidency ticket, then establish their ex-company to earn billions in a trumped up war. Nowadays, it's a conlict if you don't own stock in the company you lobby for.
- inactive, on 03/01/2008, -0/+4Someone should investigate madame speaker for being a moron and unfit for office.
- ScienceDoc, on 02/29/2008, -5/+9Jebus, finally!
