- PSWTyrant, on 10/16/2007, -6/+115Good luck with that Nancy. Given that the democratic congress keeps saying "yes" to him though, maybe he will!
- inactive, on 10/29/2007, -8/+88A quick civics lesson: The Democrats do NOT control Congress, the Republicans do & here's why. The Dems pass legislation, it then goes to Bush who vetoes it, it then goes back to Congress who can't overturn the veto without a 2/3rd vote for it, meaning the Republicans have to vote for it, which they never do! Democrat controlled Congress my ass!!!
- felman87, on 10/20/2007, -3/+47Bush doesn't let things like the constitution get in his way
- statik99, on 11/03/2009, -7/+39How can Pelosi say he has to come to congress before attacking iran? He's already given himself dictator power in cases of national emergency. I'm sure he'll just put in a declaration of war into some bill, demand they approve it, and Pelosi and company will of course pass it. Why? Because she's too ignorant for her position and she rolls over like a dog.
Here Pelosi... Here Pelosi... :: whistles :: Now sit... Good girl! k, don't allow bush to attack iran... I know it'll be hard to follow that request, don't make the American people swat you on the nose with a rolled up newspaper! - Lyanto, on 10/16/2007, -3/+32“It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”
- dawg109, on 10/15/2007, -6/+35He will do what he pleases. He knows he can by precedent set thus far. If he only received a blowjob then we might see justice!
- jerryparid, on 10/15/2007, -0/+28Nope; this is why this congress is a do nothing congress. Dems can't do *****; Republicans can't do much either.
- WaterDragon, on 10/23/2007, -11/+37He MUST? Or you'll do WHAT, you spineless co-conspirator?
Nobody believes the charade of the fake two-party system any more.
Impeachment of those two traitors/criminals , as you said, is "not on the table", because you are obviously getting a lot of payola 'under the table' like the rest of the liars in Congress.
Well F**k all y'all!
RON PAUL in '08! - NeoRicen, on 10/15/2007, -2/+26And then the Democrats will cave and authorize him anyway.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/16/2007, -1/+23Let's just hope he doesn't seek to attack Iran right before congress goes on vacation or something. God forbid they miss their vacation!
- inactive, on 10/23/2007, -2/+22Nancy cut language from the latest supplemental war funding bill that would have required Bush to get Congressional approval. There are many lawyers who feel that Bush will be able to attack without further ado.
She's lying and she knows it - jmpeagle, on 10/15/2007, -1/+19I thing I am going to officially declare my property has seceded from the union when Bush invades Iran.
- gab00n, on 10/15/2007, -3/+20Doesn't he have 90 days to ***** over any country he wants before congress has to declare war?
- carbog, on 10/23/2007, -1/+18Thanks for the history lesson Nancy. glad to hear you finally read the constitution.
- thecatcantalk, on 10/16/2007, -2/+16She's already forfeited the match by declaring impeachment "off the table", which makes the entire Congress a paper tiger. Mad King George will do whatever he pleases in his United States of Whatever, and what's she going to do? Cry? Pout? Hold her breath until she turns blue?
IMPEACH HIM, OR STFU. PLAY FOR REAL OR GO HOME, YOU PATHETIC CALIFORNIA PUSSY-WUSSY. - masterm1nd, on 10/16/2007, -4/+18Why, so they can ok it once again and then somehow shift all of the blame back to the president because the majority of people are retards.
- Magillicutti, on 10/15/2007, -0/+13What's the constitution?
- krnldmp, on 10/15/2007, -0/+12You honestly think THREE unresolved wars is better than TWO?
- maiku00, on 10/23/2007, -0/+12Oh yeah? What are you going to do? Impeach him?
- Pureeviljester, on 10/15/2007, -2/+14May Petoria last forever!
- GorfTron, on 10/15/2007, -2/+14I think Pelosi has herself confused with someone that has power.
- felman87, on 10/15/2007, -2/+14so if republicans wanted to pass legislation they would be able to without a majority?
- SaintStryfe, on 10/15/2007, -1/+13The Republicans had a big enough advantage that combined with conservative democrats, they had an unbeatable majority. Right now, Democrats do not have that. Wait till 2008.
- riverrunner, on 10/23/2007, -1/+12She wants to show him her new rubber stamp.
- valcoramizer, on 10/15/2007, -1/+12You are glossing over the fact that when the Republicans controlled the legislative branch, they also controlled the executive. Without the veto to throw back legislation to Congress for a 2/3 vote, Democrats truly couldn't stop legislation, short of converting Republican congressmen to their side. The only recourse the Democrats could have used was a filibuster in the Senate, but the Republicans were only 5 votes short of cloture at any time regardless.
- grat2001, on 10/15/2007, -3/+14She says this now, but she will approve anything Bush wants...The Dem are proving themselves not much better than the Republicans.
- spidoman, on 10/15/2007, -0/+10It's almost as if compromise is required! I wonder if the founding fathers meant it that way.....Nah.
- jmpeagle, on 10/15/2007, -1/+11but how can they arrest me. My country won't have an extradition treaty. Cops can't go on foreign soil.
:) - pleiadianagenda, on 10/23/2007, -2/+11Congress needs to grow a spine and impeach that war criminal, instead of being an accessory.
- inactive, on 10/15/2007, -1/+9he already has all the pretext he needs to attack Iran.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/03/20 ... - koko775, on 10/15/2007, -0/+7Not to mention that all the troops are busy fighting 'terror'... but then again, all they have to do is declare you a terrorist and have their way with you.
Terrifying. - inactive, on 10/15/2007, -0/+7Americans need to grow a collective spine and fix their broken "joke" of a democracy. Stop relying on the political "elite" to fix a system that serves their needs and not those of the people. Have that revolution, force out the career politicians and elect real people who have conviction and integrity and who can restore honour to your country. PLEASE.
- Egoist, on 10/16/2007, -0/+7Unless she works towards revoking the War Powers Act of 1973, she has no power to stop the President from launching a war where he wants and is only keeping the House warm with her hot air.
- nlevy, on 10/15/2007, -0/+7That's an act of treason. :P
- inactive, on 10/16/2007, -3/+10The only way Pelosi could stop Bush is if she personally pre-emptively killed him before he gives the order. Short of that, we're heading into WW3 people.
- thecatcantalk, on 10/15/2007, -2/+9What he said. Impeach the ***** or STFU.
- TheGuruStud, on 10/15/2007, -1/+8great! except for the whole thing about making it all worse, more hundreds of billions down the toilet, more enemies, 7 dollars a gallon gas, and nearing full dictatorship with the next patriot act they'll pass after another "terrorist" attack. Yeah, let's smoke the Iranians out of their holes too!!!!!!
Maybe we can write Mission Accomplished in the sky with jets instead of on a banner forced by bush. That would be awesome. - kindrobot, on 10/15/2007, -0/+7You don't own property. You license it from the government.
- dragonDC, on 10/15/2007, -1/+8Am I alone in thinking that war with Iran is TOTALLY RIDICULOUS???????? ...I know of at least one Republican Presidential Candidate that agrees.
- inactive, on 10/15/2007, -7/+14So let me see if I understand this. When the R's control congress, the Dem's are powerless to stop them. When the Dem's control congress, they don't have any power because the R's stop them? When will you hold your leaders accountable for this actions/inaction?
- jbennett1128, on 10/16/2007, -0/+7Bush isn't allowed to attack Iran WITH Congressional Approval, either. According to the Constitution, Congress must DECLARE WAR. THEN, the President is allowed to attack. Any third-grader can tell you that's whats written in the Constitution. Why can't our leaders, who swore an oath on it?
- Charlotte_Web, on 10/16/2007, -0/+7Daedalus, keep spouting facts and you'll be outta here, mister! We don't put up with that on Digg...
- Brian48216, on 10/15/2007, -0/+6Pelosi is disappointing me majorly.
My senator is Webb (D-VA) and he has shown balls repeatedly. (I know he's a senator and not a rep but he has repeatedly stood up to the administration with major guts. My vote has gone to good use. - hiphoc, on 10/15/2007, -0/+6You know its funny. I have heard tht we have been in a "state of emergency" for years. And every year the president whomever it is declares some ***** emergency so they can keep certain powers. *****.
- SaintStryfe, on 10/15/2007, -1/+7The problem is she's right - even if they impeach him, then you get Cheney. And if she impeaches both of them, then she looks like a power monger.
Also, Americans are kinda stupid if you notice. The right-wing swing machines need only start twisting "They're going after a president with less then a year left, this is an unjustified attack and is X Y Z Bad."
You'd think people ignore it but they do not.
As unpleasant as it is, Impeachment is just not a good idea. Beside, I think it might be better to holster this gun for now anyway - when the new Democratic president comes into office in 2008, they have the Sword of Damocles over the republicans - they step too far out of line, and they start investigations. Some of which will insatiably be pointing at members of the formally republican controlled congress and to Bush. - Daedalus81, on 10/16/2007, -1/+7I believe that quote was found to be false. Just sayin'.
- SaintStryfe, on 10/16/2007, -0/+5The problem is that the right has a very powerful media machine - from Rush on down, and they paint attempts to de-fund the war as anti-troop. We all know that wouldn't be anti-troop, but that's how it would get painted. And that's very dangerous ground to play on. See how Gore's getting ravaged by morons who don't know what they're talking about with talking points? Imagine every democrat who votes for it getting this treatment.
Plus, do you HONESTLY think if the money goes away, Bush will just roll over and bring troops home? Naw, he'll leave them to rot, then the Democrats will need to pay an Stopgap spending bill (which is like a big piece of felt for the velcro of pork), and Bush will still get what he wants, plus probably somethings to use against individual democrats.
It's not a matter of "Nads" - it's a matter of having to play around a very stubborn, very stupid man with a very powerful media machine behind him. - Thex1138, on 10/15/2007, -2/+7It's funny how the rest of the world will just sit back and let one man make the decision to invade another country based upon his own beliefs and reasonings..
- m0tbaillie, on 10/15/2007, -1/+6When will people look past their own ***** noses and come to the realization that just because the media spouts ***** rhetoric handed down by this administration, that it is NOT necessarily true? Iran has said several times, much like Iraq did (in pertinence to WMDs), that its nuclear program is for energy purposes only, the IAEC - with Americans on board - has already said that this is true, after inspections.
Why the ***** are people jumping on board with another goddamned war? Do you people not realize how much ***** debt this country is in?
DO you not realize how much the rest of the world loathes us and what we're allowing this administration to do?
DO you not realize that the future of our children is being whisked away by this ultra-aggressive, fascist foreign policy?
DO you not realize that you're all being played like a ***** fiddle yet AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN? WHY?! - chase001, on 10/15/2007, -2/+7Exactly. Social Regressives don't care about a bunch of dead brown people, just don't let the President get any action on the side.
