I'm a survivor of childhood molestation by a neighbor who was apparently prolific in his scurge on the community.
When people equate what this man did to me & my brother, or what other child abusers do to the CONSENTUAL relationship between ADULTS I cant help but get livid.

To him, for reasons I can't understand but don't question because I have no basis for evaluating reaction to molestation, this means that homosexuals "recruit" children into their "lifestyle of perversion." I have tried to point out to him that molestation as a child by a supposedly heterosexual step-uncle does not have any logical leap to legalized pedophilia, gays and lesbians "recruiting" to homosexuality or any of the other leaps that many conservatives claim. I usually stop just for a minute because I still hold onto this belief that maybe these "good Christian men" have some wisdom to pass on. Nearly every single time I stop (when I see his face I will), he is saying something I consider to be completely against the basic tenets of Christianity. It is really a shame that people like this are able to pervert and misrepresent Christianity, overshadowing the deeds and efforts of the good Christian people out there who respect and love all human beings for the way God made them. People like Pat Robertson are why I hold much of what I learned in the Bible during my younger years, but I refuse to call myself or associate myself with Christianity. If God does exist (personally I am undecided and apathetic on the issue), there will certainly be a special place in hell for Pat Robertson and the like.
