I just had the STRANGEST cognitive dissonance moment. A post about Rosie O'Donnell defending
Ron Paul followed by a post from Patrick Buchanan defending Ron Paul!!!
Talk about Cats and Dogs living together in peace???
The world has gone Mad!
Go PAUL GO !!!! - aliengoods, on 10/30/2007, -7/+184I don't care for Ron Paul, but I think the part that is irking people is the political process. The RNC and DNC, as well as the media, have far too much control over the 2 candidates that are presented to us. Now they're trying to weed people out 18 months before the election! They're basically saying, "You'll take who we give you and like it."
The internet is starting to change that for the better, but there is still a long ways to go. - inactive, on 10/30/2007, -13/+160Ron Paul is attacked by Fox News because Ruppert Murdock, who owns half of the media in the United States, promotes Giuliani and Hillary Clinton. Through his massive, monopolistic empire can use tested and proven strategies to influence people his way.
We the people must decide if Ruppert Murdock elects the president or do we. - AKBryant54, on 10/30/2007, -11/+149I said to myself after the debate and after the polling on Fox that this may have been the turning point in RPs presidential bid. If the media starts to acknowledge him like Pat and Rosie have and continue to reach millions of Americans, could this really be true?
Now is the most crucial time for grassroots organizations to focus and do as much as they can, and now is the time to donate to his campaign.

*goes insane* - faithhealer, on 10/31/2007, -6/+73What's scary about Pat Buchanan is that I can listen to about 75% of what he says and think "that really makes sense." The he goes off on some crazy tangent and I think "get me away from this freak!"
- WCASpooner, on 10/11/2007, -3/+69according to article: "I would ask the congressman to withdraw that comment and tell us what he really meant by it."
What Giuliani really said: "I would ask the congressman to withdraw that comment and tell us that he really didn't mean that."
Giuliani sounded like a whiny 5 year old who was called a dirty name. - Nydas, on 10/31/2007, -12/+66Donated (again)! I just hope all the other Paulinites also donate. I understand some, if not most of you, don't have jobs since you're still in school, so you dont have to donate a hundred like i did, but every little bit helps.
Do your part people, we need to give Ron the support he needs. - bagold51, on 10/11/2007, -3/+56I have to admit it, Pat Buchanan hit it right on the nose with this article. Maybe the American (us) people will start to listen more (I doubt it) to Ron Paul. I used to be a Democrat (now a registered Independent) but because the Dems have no balls when it comes to opposing the current administration, I switched. Ron Paul would be the one GOP person that I would vote for. Giuliani is definitely a whiner as wcaspooner so eloquently put it. Drop out now Giuliani while you still have got your balls.
- williamdyer, on 10/11/2007, -2/+55He is anti-war, anti-big-government, anti Drug War, and pro freedom.
Who else fits that description? What do you find wrong with that? - SwordOfShannara, on 10/31/2007, -5/+52Ron Paul said it himself. The message of Freedom brings us together.
- Grouser, on 10/11/2007, -0/+46Best line of the article:
" By all means, throw out of the debate the only man who was right from the beginning on Iraq." - Mortikhi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+45"Was President Hoover unpatriotic when, the day after Pearl Harbor, he wrote to friends, "You and I know that this continuous putting pins in rattlesnakes finally got this country bitten."
I got banned and labelled a 'troll' for pointing that out at freerepublic.com and I had been a member there for a long time. - thotpoizn, on 10/11/2007, -3/+46I was getting pretty sick of all the Ron Paul spam. Every other freakin' article, and often endorsed by people so diametrically opposed to my way of thinking as to ellicit an almost automatic bury urge. (I'm a little on the conservative side - shocker, I know.)
So today I went to Ron Paul's web site to find out what all the hubbub was about.
Holy crap.
I can't believe I might want to vote for the same person as - well, all of the people I usually come here to ridicule and poke fun at! :)
OK, I haven't had time to read his stance on every issue - cripies, he's apparently been writing since he and Ben Franklin were drinking buddies. And I really don't agree with everything he says 100%. But in contrast to the other crooks and sellouts in the running? There's just no contest. Does that make me a fan boy or sock puppet? I don't think so. If you find yourself tempted to chalk it up to "more Ron Paul spam" - maybe you should take a look at his stance on whatever issues that are important to you; you might be surprised. - darsie, on 10/11/2007, -1/+43Quote from article: "Of the 10 candidates on stage in South Carolina, Dr. Paul alone opposed the war. He alone voted against the war. Have not the last five years vindicated him, when two-thirds of the nation now agrees with him that the war was a mistake, and journalists and politicians left and right are babbling in confession, "If I had only known then what I know now ..."
This is the main reason the Republican National Committee want Ron Paul out of the running for the Republican candidacy. Through the MSM which they virtually control they have cajoled, impressed and bullied the Ron Paul camp. They are a disgrace to free speech and the fair and honest principles of democracy.
Unfortuntely because of Ron Paul's continuing success and popularity we are now seeing the Republican National Committee for what they really are - crooks -
The RNC's iron fist is emerging fast from within the velvet glove........
Ron Paul for President - techweenie, on 10/11/2007, -2/+44Why must it be such an astonishing thing when someone speaks truth in a presidential nomination debats?
- khfn, on 10/31/2007, -7/+48bigfavediode, This is about reinstating our civil liberties and freedom from the mishandling of Americans by a growing abusive authority. The issue is something very crucial in this coming police state. Pop your head up and take a look around, friend.
- wonderworm, on 10/31/2007, -9/+47EVERY SINGLE DIGGER, AND I MEAN ALL OF THEM, need to register with the Republican party in their county or state and VOTE for Ron Paul in the Republican primaries. He is a candidate who is like the founders of this great country and his honor is unbribable.
Let's get Ron Paul elected! - clownguyx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+38"We do not excuse -- but we must understand. "
- willistg, on 10/11/2007, -2/+35I never thought the day would come that I would be agreeing with Pat Buchanan
- Innova69, on 10/11/2007, -3/+36This guy is going to be really hard to ignore, with all of the support that he is getting from the online community. Too bad the sheep who are watching NBC/ABC/CBS/Fox nightly news, will never have a clue who this guy is, or Mike Gravel as well.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+34Ron Paul in 08!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+34Gotta hand it to Pat. Very nicely done!
- williamdyer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+28Somebody got to the guy running FR. It used to be a place you could question the Drug War and oppose the neocons. No more. If you do not toe the line, you are ejected. Very sad.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+30Some people like to be told what to do in every aspect of their measly lives. Its kinda sickening.
- inactive, on 10/31/2007, -2/+28How is this surprising? Buchanan has always been a non-interventionist. He's been against free-trade, globalization, foreign entanglements, and the UN. The thing most people find most offensive about him is his standing as being one of the first culture warriors, though in recent years he has toned down that rhetoric and asked for a truce since he's seen how far it's taken us.
- jcarrion1976, on 10/31/2007, -4/+28* At a ICA meeting (Ignorant Conservatives Anonymous)
Jason stands: Hi, my name is Jason and I'm a conservative.
group: Hi Jason.
Jason: In 2004 I voted for Bush... God I'm so embarrassed... but there was no better option!?!
group: Hmm yeah, no better option.
Jason: But I have learned from my ways and have been studying libertarian views and the writings that influenced the original founders!
group: (claps hands)
The truth is if true conservatives would education themselves about what is going on with their country and study libertarian views I believe that many of them would make wiser decisions regarding who they vote for. Hell, many of them may change to libertarian. I did.
That's why I signed the petition for Ron Paul (see below). I don't give a crap if its connected to the RNC or even if Paul is under the Republican banner. The truth is that we need his voice out there. The more people hear his message the stronger this movement will become. In a era of disinformation and the flagrant destruction of our rights, this message must get through.
A lot of people like to rail against conservatives (with just cause) but if more of them become aware of whats happening around them and return to a constitutional mindset, then they will be a major force for positive change.
A true conservative truly loves this country. They love the constitution. They love the principals this country was founded.
The problem with love though is most of the time it's expressed as a feeling, and not acted out.
Emotion is a positive thing but also a dangerous thing when you allow yourself to be swayed by it without reason and logic and truth to back it up.
That is what has happened to the right. They have lost site of the truth. They have allowed moral beliefs and fear to cloud their judgment.
I don't want to keep on rambling here so I will draw this to a close. Study the original founding. Study the constitution. Study libertarian principals. And for peats sake, study what's really going on with the government and your rights.
The things I learned in one year blew away every preconceived notion I had about politics, government, big business etc.
It's your future. Live free or Die.
Petition for Ron Paul:
http://www.petitiononline.com/RPRNC08/petition.html - renegade101, on 10/11/2007, -3/+27You gotta love Giuliani, toting 9/11 as if he did anything to help the country before, during, or after it happened.
He's out there jacking off while people like Ron Paul have are trying to restore the GOP to some level of dignity. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+25Dr. Ron Paul: A spec of truth in an ocean of lies.
- bkmaxey, on 10/31/2007, -1/+24I agree that it seems like that would be a sign of the Apocalypse. We really need to get past the two party system mentality we have today, we need a political shake up to change the status quo.
@Witchboy
Who cares? You're likely too young or apathetic to vote anyway. - immolation, on 10/11/2007, -1/+24Everyone needs to keep Rudy in check - he's going to bend September 11th over a table and try to hump it alll the way to the White House. That's his gimmick. That's it.
"America's mayor" - like anyone else in the same situation would do different...
"As someone who lived through 9/11..." - yes. You were in a oak lined skyscraper surrounded by bodyguards and interns... You take away the 9/11 hype & gloss, and Rudy is just another hack Republican.
Americans killed on 9/11 - 2,500
Iraqi civilians killed to date - 650,000 - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23As someone who lives in NYC, I really do not think Rudy can lead this nation. Pat is a smart fellow who has a right to his opinion. He may offend some but who doesn't?
There is a silent majority that just wants a President who won't ***** things up any more.
Ron Paul is that man. - starcrunchfx, on 10/11/2007, -4/+24Read about him a bit. Then you will understand.
- gmason08, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18Sorry to go off topic but this is important/related to the RP/general political situation.
I support both universal education and public funding for that purpose, for our system to function as intended our citizens must have the knowledge necessary to make the best choices from the competing ideas. In this regard, knowledge of history is particularly important yet in recent decades it is an area in which our people(on the whole) have demonstrated a less than adequate level of achievement. The truth of the quote, "Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it" best summarizes my point here.
However, while an educated citizenry is obviously important, it is also important to know something about the origins/history of our current educational system to understand how it became what it is and why. Please consider the following and do your own research on this extremely critical topic
Few are aware that publicly funded, compulsory "education" was instituted for the express purpose of indoctrinating the masses and for making them compliant, unquestioning servants of the state. In fact, the goal of the designers of the Prussian system was to make it impossible for the victims of their education system to even be capable of thoughts other than full concurrence with whatever the King decreed. More disturbing, our own (U.S. as is most of Europe) publicly funded, compulsory "education" system has its origins and design based on the Prussian system w/ similar goals, create good little corporate trolls/taxpayers/consumers/etc.
Basic Links to support my above assertion re: history/purpose of compulsory public education below; I encourage anyone interested in this important topic to conduct their own fact checking, however, be cautious/mindful of the institutional concerns of the institution effect.

are you sure you want me to register and vote? I mean I am a digger (or at least I thought I was)
but I didnt think australians and the numerous other forigeners on digg where allowed to vote in us elections?
but good luck on getting your country to a state where they arent dragging the rest of us down with you - Neiby, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18"I like him on the rest of the issues, but wouldn't vote for him if that is the way he feels. "
Don't you just love single issue voters? You'll never find a candidate with whom you agree 100%. He's right on vouchers, by the way. Public schools are forced socialism that takes the power of educational choice away from parents. Vouchers simply return their own money to them so that they may spend it in a way that they feel better suits their child and circumstances.
Hmm...you're right, that sounds so evil! - NickyBatts, on 10/31/2007, -2/+19I know!
Patty B makes all kinds of sense until he starts rapping about religion, then I'm all like huh? What just happened?
But then he will say something and start laughing, then I start laughing, then we hug a little, and we're friends again.
Good ol' Patty B. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -8/+25Come on, an endorsement from Pat B?
- Neiby, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17"Why must it be such an astonishing thing when someone speaks truth in a presidential nomination debats?"
Because it so rarely happens. Most politicians are knee-jerk, sound-bite reactionaries who only say what they think we want to hear. It really plays with people's minds when politicians like Gravel and Paul get into the public light and are willing to tell the truth for a change. - thefaithful, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17"Some people like to be told what to do in every aspect of their measly lives. Its kinda sickening."
Yeah that's a reality that isn't discussed much.
Unfortunately a lot of people deep down don't truly want to be free.
Real freedom requires personal responsibility, sacrifice and critical thinking. - graystar, on 10/11/2007, -3/+19You should see who gets the applause on this talk show about Ron:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bImMxtAX5Ic - anodos, on 10/31/2007, -1/+17@wonderworm, I've never registered with either party because, up to now, I've hated the idea of siding with a party. But Ron Paul is really winning me over, and I can see that if he doesn't make the primaries, he doesn't stand a chance. I think for the first time in my life I will take the bitter pill, register with the Rep. party, and vote for RP. This does not make me a Republican in my heart, though. If RP doesn't make it, and the party stays the same as it is now, then I'm gone. (yes, I'm trying to justify this to myself)
- WRXFiles, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18Donate now.
The rest have corporations. Ron Paul has only you.
I gave $100 yesterday
After reading today, I am skipping the bar tonight and sending him another $50 - swifty383, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16Let's not forget that Benito Giuliani has actually suggested during his campaign that Bush can legally keep the war going EVEN IF CONGRESS CUTS OFF FUNDING. Anyone who has such a misunderstanding of the executive branch should not be President.
- pjmellon, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18Godspeed Ron Paul.
- thinphantom, on 10/31/2007, -8/+22hey alphaeta, ron paul and every other credible scientist. nobody is saying global warming is not happening, which is something liberal fanatics pushing the carbon tax like to portray. humans MIGHT be contributing to the situation, but nowhere near the amounts supporters like gore would have us believe. the entire solar system is heating up. human's carbon footprints are surely not responsible for heating up mars. get your facts straight.
- healthydose, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15We don“t need defeatists. Please be Positive. I mean really, who here on DIGG thought we would be this far along 6 weeks ago. We've all read the posts "first you guys were on this guy and then this one and in a couple of weeks you'll be off Ron on to somebody else." But, look my friends it hasn't happened... in fact quite the opposite. After I watched the CNN. call in on youtube I decided to call my friends and family around the country to see what they thought--Yes it sounds corny, "Hey, uncle James I was wondering....." But, I had too do it, I was getting just a tad worried that maybe the posts we read are true "it's just a internet thing, the rest of the people know nothing about him". "When what to my wondering ears should appear than; yes we've heard of him. and love him here." So, though unscientific they do spread around to 12 states, which gives an indication that he is getting his meassage out. At least in my case.
- iceperson, on 10/31/2007, -7/+21"After all, what do climatologists know?"
They sure as hell know that more gov't spending on "global warming" equals $$$ in their pockets... - Bigboomer223, on 10/11/2007, -4/+18Ron Paul Dominates in 08!
- Neiby, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13I've never seen The View or even a clip from that show, but I must say that I'm surprised to hear that sort of conversation on there! I'm even more surprised that a Republican is getting good press on the show. That single event put the Ron Paul name into the brains of soccer moms all over the US.
