- LogicBomB, on 10/10/2007, -3/+166I do truely hope that everyone who says "We need to do something" really does mean "we" and not "everyone else but me".
Unless you've contacted your local congressman or openly voiced your opinion in a place that matters it's just more meaningless words on the internet. - johnlabmonkey, on 10/10/2007, -11/+159We need to get these clowns out of office before they ruin every last good thing in the US. They've infiltrated NPR and much of PBS. Frontline has seemed to be immune, so far.
- Darkhowling91, on 10/10/2007, -0/+121But..but...but....I thought support came from viewers like me. =[
- homestar2525, on 10/10/2007, -4/+110Back in the day my Social Studies teacher used to always say that PBS news was the only news worth watching... I tend to agree. Hopefully it stays alive.
- revscat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+81Frontline has always been an amazing show. They're one of the last news outlets that actually does hard-hitting investigative reporting. Good stuff.
- insomniac8400, on 10/10/2007, -2/+81I guess they can't handle a real "no spin zone".
- postal21, on 10/10/2007, -10/+78My favorite Frontline episode was about that black guy who was blind... and was in the KKK... oh wait, wrong show.
- Coven, on 10/10/2007, -1/+57*raises hand*
Newly converted NPR listener right here. I'll spend my day listening to a constant stream of news, as opposed to 2 minutes of news, 10 minutes of commercials, lather, rinse, repeat. - johnlabmonkey, on 10/10/2007, -3/+50You mean my comments on Digg won't save the country? I'm shocked, shocked, to find this out.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -18/+63Republicans are fear mongering cowards with not an ounce of patriotism.
They are the true enemy of the state.
I suggest PBS do a special on NASCAR and porking your sister. That will keep them in good favor with Repugs! - digggggggggg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+41What you said makes little to no sense.
Public broadcasting is NOT market driven. That's why it's called PUBLIC. It has tremendous appeal for its educational value and the fact that it has no commercials. Countless contributors in industry, government, and the general public have made millions of dollars in donations. - pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -3/+42fascists and dictators always fear an informed public.
- x0nIMIn0x, on 10/10/2007, -0/+34Almost everyone I know listens to NPR, both my liberal and conservative friends. I find the ones who do listen are capable of making compelling arguements in support of their viewpoints, and seem generally well informed.
The people I know who don't listen? Nice folks, but they are often completely clueless about what's going on in the world, and they are also pretty naive. They seem more likely to assume that everyone is just as poorly informed as they are, much like you did. - c2kris, on 10/10/2007, -2/+32Here's a 60 mins Program about Dick Cheney and Rumsfield, and how they got us into this war.
Very good reporting.

PBS rocks - ichatter231, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30frontline is frickin amazing.
they exercise their 1st amendment rights to say whatever they want about the government and let you watch full episodes w/o commercials... no wonder the government wants it gone. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+29Like Fox News?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+27norman...get your facts straight before you spout
"According to a 2003 Washington Monthly story, about 20 million listeners tune into NPR each week"
from:

and if you want to hear more:
http://www.onpointradio.org/shows/2007/07/20070723_b_main.asp
which discusses how broad the listenership of NPR really is. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+29check out bill moyers' journal as well...very good show
- macewan, on 10/10/2007, -3/+26BBC
- lev606, on 10/10/2007, -4/+27 I agree with revscat, Frontline has done a fantastic job of cutting through all of the ***** associated with this war. If you want to understand what is really happening in the Middle East right now I would highly recommend watching a few of the programs.
- Qenton, on 10/10/2007, -3/+25If you are going submit something at least submit a news story that expands on what is said in the description.
Here is a random news story about it:
http://site-announcements.tvsquad.com/2007/07/22/congress-saves-public-television-from-massive-funding-cuts/
Note the vote was 357-72 for rejection of the proposal. - Zantozz, on 10/10/2007, -2/+24NPR and PBS are staples of this country; albeit Joe America Six-Pack doesn't give a rats' $#@! about it. It's very sad commentary on the state of America when this is even an issue! In this day-and-age of CNN (ack) and other news sources not worth the paper/bits/film it's written on, I can at least trust public broadcasting to give me somewhat of a normal spin on things.
Shame on you Bush and Co. - bonhoeffer, on 10/10/2007, -8/+28I am for separation of press and state.
- Djerrid, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16I think only 20% of their funding comes from the fed.
- BlacklabelSAR, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16The USA is not By or For the People. You have been lied to and continue to be lied to. The value of your lives has been stolen from you and you are surrounded by apethetic enablers of that fact. Woodrow Wilson sold out the USA in 1913 and later sadly admitted this fact. So now that you realize that your life is worth nothing, and you have nothing to lose, what are you going to do about it?
- mtjohnson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Buried you as inaccurate. They were trying to cut 420 Million. 420 BILLION is what Iraq has cost us (more than that, actually).
Incidentally, 420 Million (CPB budget cut) is only ~.1% of the total cost of the Iraq war. So if we really want to cut the budget, lets cut the war. - bowens44, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14truth isn't biased.
- kelbear, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Frontline has the least bias I've seen. I'm a moderate.
The problem is that a radical-right has shifted the spectrum so far to the right, that being moderate is considered being a leftist-looney. Republicans used to be anti-governement, and anti-spending. Look where we are now.
A moderate approach covers the spectrum of news both good and bad. Frontline did just that, noting failures in Iraq as well as opportunities for optimism, and identifying the underlying problems that could have led us to the present situation, and the ones that plague us still.
At very least, you won't see a PBS special on Paris Hilton. - tnoy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12I really hate that virtually no news stories actually tell you which bill it was that they were voting on. It was part of H.R. 3043
Here's the tally: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2007/roll662.xml - BrandonMills, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Tell that to the Republicans and FoxNews
- psyjoniz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12"Frontline has seemed to be immune, so far."
oh, don't worry, they are working on it... :( - commiecat, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15I'm all for Frontline and all, but where exactly is the evidence that *this show* is the reason for the proposed cuts? Republicans have been trying to cut PBS/NPR funding for years now. I think they'd be pushing for cuts regardless of the station's shows and formats.
- iamlutheran, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12I love PBS and especially Newshour with Jim Lehrer.
- pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11wow, the islamophobes are really upset about them not showing their little hate show. do you think pbs would be obliged to show a piece put together by the klan called "the truth about *****"? or maybe a film by mel gibson called "why the jews started all the wars"
- MajorDick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Frontline is IMHO the best documentary program on television. I can see why this administration has a problem with them, Bush and Cheney will no doubt provide many hours worth of documentaries in the days - months and years to come. But don't take my word for it.........Watch It!
- Erectile, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12I value highly all public broadcasting services around the world. The ABC here in Australia is by far the best place to get news with little bias, you'll also find most of the time it's the only channel with something intelligent to watch.
- darthtofu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10because some places don't have 170 channels available. some people can't afford that. it's PUBLIC television. you know, for the PUBLIC...
- TheSabre, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9http://www.npr.org/about/privatesupport.html
"A very small percentage -- between one percent to two percent of NPR's annual budget -- comes from competitive grants sought by NPR from federally funded organizations, such as the Corporation for Public Broadcasting" - sundancekid503, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10123 baby you and me
- death2hypocrisy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8don't ***** with frontline, they produce mindblowing documentaries
- MajorDick, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Obviously your talking out of your ass. If you ever get a TV that doesn't have tinfoil for antenna you should watch and learn.........redneck.
- fizasist, on 10/10/2007, -30/+38Was anyone else expecting... an article? You know, information backing up the claim, and not just a link as Frontline's proof of existence?
Buried. - norman619, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8I guess not. I guess it's government TV. Who knew?
- nshah, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10We need you back, Mr. Rogers.
- pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7you fail. pbs is not a business, it is a public service like public libraries. just because it doesn't support your neocon bias doesn't mean no one watches it. ever heard of sesame street? yeah, no one watches it. pbs also gets a lot of money from donations from viewers.
- UglieJosh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7That's usually what people do when they don't agree...
- useraccess, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11With all the money saved from cutting funds to PBS and NPR, every redneck in America could have a refridgerator on their front porch.
- JinnRikki, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Go post at The Free (lol) Republic if you don't like it. They have nice echo chamber for wingnuts there.
- EXreaction, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8http://digg.com/politics/Impeach_Bush_and_Cheney_Write_Your_Congressperson_Today
Something even the laziest digg user can do. Takes a whole 30 seconds to write the letter to your congressman (has a pretty good default message that gets sent) - amenofis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Reality has a well known liberal bias
