- Pherdnut, on 04/22/2008, -3/+93Anybody want to go in with me on a bulk purchase of pitchforks and torches?
- N3tw0rk, on 04/22/2008, -2/+72Looks like Hillary will get the 'Diebold Bump', courtesy of the GOP.
- pagno, on 04/22/2008, -3/+65This is absolutely ridiculous. How much IS too much to ensure OUR elections are legit? With many people already suspicious of past elections, doesnt this just kind of provide proof to their argument? And nobody says a word. Stupid ***** Americans.
- light65733, on 04/22/2008, -2/+54Peasants revolt, brainwashed citizens don't. We believed them in Florida in 2000. We believed them in Ohio in 2004, And we believed them in New Hampshire this year. If we continue to believe in these sham elections, we will get and deserve to get more of the same. The first thing we have to change, if we want change, is our blind acceptance of these rigged black box elections.
- inactive, on 04/22/2008, -1/+47And then people wonder why there are so many conspiracy theorists.
- Tinu, on 04/22/2008, -1/+43That's just plain out of hand. Who wants to bet me five dollars that the first thing someone will say when the inevitable Does happen is something about how there wasn't enough warning. Blah.
- glibpaxman, on 04/22/2008, -3/+32i suppose when you spend your whole life watching politicians ignore your most basic needs you dont much care about how votes are counted. oh, and when courts decide elections instead of votes it certainly makes me want to just say screw it and stay home. good work republicans, way to take apathy to a whole new level!
- inactive, on 04/22/2008, -7/+25Oregon has all vote by mail and it has been proven to be the most reliable yet no other state will take it up.
Why?
Cause white trash ignorant republicans fear an easier way for people to vote. That's why we vote on a work day and not a holiday. Cause when more people vote, Republicans lose. - soundman07, on 04/22/2008, -1/+17If the machines are hacked then we all fail. Sort of a catch 22 ya know.
- InspectorGadget, on 04/22/2008, -0/+15What was wrong with physical ballots? Cheap and accurate and as long as we have all these stupid bureaucrats on the payroll we may as well put them to work.
- muckemuck, on 04/22/2008, -0/+15HBO documentary "Hacking Democracy" http://tinyurl.com/4wdfjd (I promise it's not a rick roll...)
Watch the last 10 minutes or so.. they do a mock election to show that the machine can be hacked by swapping the memory card. They don't hack a touch screen machine, but if you watch the rest of it you'll see that a lot of the same issues apply. Also look into the shoddy way the "paper trail" was treated in New Hampshire, where boxes were "sealed" with what were essentially posti-it note labels and many of the boxes had openings big enough to stuff ballots in. -- having a paper trail isn't enough, it has to have a secure chain of custody. Without that a recount is a waste of time. - Neticule, on 04/22/2008, -0/+15I can not believe that these electronic systems are still in place! They should have been done away with years ago. Seriously! They can F'n be HACKED for god sakes! And you can even find out how to do it on youtube! The people that voted to keep these machines should be fired.
- MistySteele, on 04/22/2008, -0/+13RTFA
- Pherdnut, on 04/22/2008, -0/+12Hackers don't mess with voting machines. Hacks do.
- poopdigger, on 04/22/2008, -6/+17I guarantee that one of two scenarios will play out on digg.
1) Slimy Hillary cheated to gain an advantage.
2) Slimy Hillary whines that Barack "cheated" - stavrogin2, on 04/22/2008, -5/+15I agree with your points, but the phrase "white trash" is just as bad as the n-word in displaying bigotry. It really doesn't help anyone -- white or black.
- h4ckler, on 04/22/2008, -2/+12You fail @ American if you stay home.
- FireAtWill, on 04/22/2008, -1/+11What the ***** is it going to take for your populace to wake up? Your entire election system is an absolute fraud perpetrated by a social elite, and lately nothing more.
I miss the America I though existed; I guess I was just misinformed. - muckemuck, on 04/22/2008, -0/+10You do know that weeks after the California primary there were still over a million paper ballots uncounted? Did yours ever get counted?
- inactive, on 04/22/2008, -1/+10Thanks to Bush and right wingers who tongue his ass, Afghanistan and Iraw now have more robust, foolproof elections than the USA
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a6 ... - evilcaptain, on 04/22/2008, -0/+9I hope nobody just smashes all the machines ;)
They are touch screens after all. I'm sure even a biro could render them unusable. - Futile, on 04/22/2008, -2/+10I'm not suggesting anything here but I would like to point out that, if these machines are really as vulnerable as people claim, it would be REALLY NICE to have Barack Obama win Penn by, say, 25% margin. This would accomplish one of two things:
If the media points out that, something is fishy, there is no way Obama would win by that much, then people would finally clue in on how horrible these machines are.
If nobody seems to care about the ridiculous results, then Hillary would be forced to concede and drop out of the nomination. Yay.
Win-win situation. You know, if SOMEONE actually can exploit these vulnerable machines. I'm not saying they should. That would be illegal. - ad33lshahid, on 04/22/2008, -0/+8i think it will get rowdy if obama doesnt win the nomination and the general election...
- vinnyvenus, on 04/22/2008, -1/+9From the comments
"The GOP is right on this one.Voting machines are chosen by the LOCAL election committees. Let them fix their own poor choices with their own money."
PA state legislature has given 3 billion dollars to local election authorities for their voting needs . It was local authorities who came up this ridiculous voting system not GOP in the PA. - Ihatenicks, on 04/22/2008, -4/+12You stupid, stupid Americans, what is it going to take for you all to finally realise that you are being conned?... Actually I'm inclined to believe that you know that you are being lied to but are simply just too lazy and apathetic to give a *****.
People are dying everyday all over the world fighting for democracy and you have it and abuse it. You don't deserve a free society, you should all be locked up in pens. - jgtg32a, on 04/22/2008, -0/+8Please look up double-agent
- iheartboobs, on 04/22/2008, -0/+7Spending 10 of millions of dollars on a voting devices without having the ability to audit an election is unbelievably stupid. Words can not describe how stupid it is. All good election officials know that rule #1 for elections is to plan for things that might go wrong. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murphy's_law
- DiggDuggDone, on 04/22/2008, -1/+8On way to avoid using hackable touch screens is to file as an Absent Voter. In California that's all you have to do to receive your election ballot in the mail. You don't have to prove you're over seas, on vacation or what not.
I think it's a bit too late for the people of PA but get the word out in your state and with your peeps about filing Absent. I love getting my ballot a month before the election!
I do admit this isn't 100%, but something is better than nothing. The only time I take mine to my polling place is for the Presidential election, because you get a spiffy "I Voted!" sticker. - inactive, on 04/22/2008, -2/+8There's no evidence of widespread voter fraud.
There is at least circumstantial evidence of touchscreen voting machine fraud
HTH - Schmapdi, on 04/22/2008, -0/+6YAY - at least we know regardless of the result that our next president could quite possibly be a sham.
*sigh* - Railz, on 04/22/2008, -1/+7Because, unfortunately, there is no real voter turn out for the house/sen seats.
- BevansDesign, on 04/22/2008, -0/+6Can't. Guitar Hero. You understand.
- megaton, on 04/22/2008, -3/+8If Obama wins, will we be crying foul...? ;)
- Chandon, on 04/22/2008, -0/+5You got it on the first guess. The thing that's wrong with paper ballots is that they're cheap - so no contractor can make millions supplying them.
- AndrewDB, on 04/22/2008, -1/+6Wouldn't it be amazing if even though Hillary tried to ***** over this election, Obama still came back and won?
- kurtwinter, on 04/22/2008, -0/+5Once again, Diebold will determine the winner. Great.
- pintomp3, on 04/22/2008, -0/+4but wouldn't you like to know that your vote is counted properly?
- bysin, on 04/22/2008, -2/+6You know, its primarily our demographic that can hack these machines. They're just giving us more influence over the election.
- TheGuruStud, on 04/22/2008, -0/+4No they don't, I'm surrounded by them. (I live in the midwest)
- Chandon, on 04/22/2008, -1/+5Landslides are for incompetent fraudsters. Competent fraudsters rig for a believable result that won't get investigated. In this case, if I were trying to sabotage Obama in the November election, I'd shoot for 54% Clinton / 46% Obama - just enough that Clinton has an excuse to stay in the race and keep running attack ads.
- stavrogin2, on 04/22/2008, -0/+4I think you're missing the point.
- Pherdnut, on 04/22/2008, -1/+5Ethical people are skeptics of other people being that amoral. We'll wait and see but if Hillary gets a landslide tomorrow and there are reports of graft all over the place, we need to step up to the plate this time.
- statik99, on 11/03/2009, -0/+4I bet the vote comes out with Bob Dole as the winner!
- inactive, on 04/22/2008, -1/+4You forgot to mention that ACORN itself turned in most of the individuals involved.
- ocean17, on 04/22/2008, -1/+4How many 'hackers' do you think would double-agent to Obama?
- fonebone2, on 04/22/2008, -1/+4http://www.thenation.com/blogs/edcut?pid=172201
The Bush administration investigated the ***** out of these guys for years and only came up with a handful of convictions. ACORN also successfully sued them for libel because of the false accusations brought against the organization. - user5124, on 04/22/2008, -0/+3You mean his vote for Hillary?
- cheezintern, on 04/22/2008, -0/+3I'm more a guns and Molotov cocktails kind of guy, but to each his own I guess...
- rexblade, on 04/22/2008, -0/+3Can these slimeballs be anymore obvious? If we cant get a revolution through democracy then I think its getting time to spill the blood of this abomination we call government.
- patpl22391, on 04/22/2008, -1/+4I do recall you all wanted a New Hampshire recount after Hillary won there..what happened?
