- sharpfork, on 10/10/2007, -16/+159 All bush wants to do in Iraq at this point is kick the can down the road so the failure of his policy can be pinned on his political opponents. Bush's policy in Iraq is not for any kind of real Victory, it is simply to avoid obviously failing under his watch. He is willing to waste American blood and treasure to pass the buck on his failure.
He has no plan for success in Iraq.
He has no plan to bring the troops home under his presidency.
He has no plan to hold countries that support the terrorist of 9-11 accountable (Saudi Arabia and Pakistan)
His plan for Iraq is to not fail, not to bring victory.
Anyone who supports this fool's war loves their GOP more than the USA. - jkbowman, on 10/10/2007, -10/+88Can it be put more eloquently? - No
The sad fact is that Bush doesn't give a damn. - Doesn't now, never did. - nblsavage, on 10/10/2007, -3/+41Saddam had dick-all to do with Al-Qaeda. Moron.
- dupswapdrop, on 10/10/2007, -10/+42Remember all the lives lost by this president.
Remember that we spent more money on who gave bill a blow job than we have investigating 9/11.
Remember all the money these crooks are pocketing on a war that was illegal from the start.
Think about all this and remember these lessons next time you even think about voting for any republican again. - Albionshores, on 10/10/2007, -7/+39Still selling 'Fear and Loathing' I see. Hasn't that wave broken yet?
- ehalasey, on 10/10/2007, -7/+38Damn. Whoever that was . . . said it all. It's knowing that we still have people who can so eloquently voice their opinions - and informed ones, at that - that gives me hope and rekindles that little bit of pride I have as an American. It's letters like that that illustrate the real truth: not all of us are hateful, greedy, racist warmongers.
- iching, on 10/10/2007, -4/+32After watching that speech, I felt I just saw Giligan's Island for the 9 hundred and 11th times, where there was a plan to get off the island but the network just played it until Ginger or Marianne lost their 'lust'er of freedom. except that our presence in Iraq, exacerbates death, injury and destruction, meantime, the sponsor of the show are making off like bandits with profits from their respective corporations.
This latest speech from Bush was just someone playing Giligan that had talked to the professor and the millionaire about the plan to leave the island of stupidity and foolishness. I can't believe that anyone with a rational mind would follow this same bull-***** for so long.
The letter from the OP was good but I think we need to go further. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -11/+36Bush will never read it. Remember Bush does not represent the will of the people.
- rspeed, on 10/10/2007, -1/+26*looks at your name*
Oh, I get it! Irony! - sleastack, on 10/10/2007, -4/+27He could be at 2% approval and he will still do what he wants because he does not work for the people. He works for the the mega rich ARMS, OIL, and CONSTRUCTION industries. You think your money or wishes mean anything to them??
I dont know when we will wake up and rise to action but it is long past due... They are looting the country and doing what they want. Our worst nightmare of neverending war is exactly what they need to keep it all going and bring them to their goal of world dominance. It is a new game and I am afraid most people think this is about terrorists and faulty intelligence blah blah blah... its a power grab and we are the only thing in the way. - Po0p, on 10/10/2007, -6/+28Impeach
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+26Why would a country elect this guy twice, even after finding out what he was really like?
- arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21ad hominem attacks instead of actual discussion points means you have no argument.
- OHiggins, on 10/10/2007, -3/+21Iran is not evil. Stop listening to the neocon spun media.
- razor150, on 10/10/2007, -4/+21The Right just loves their Domino theories.
- OHiggins, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18"We will not leave Iraq."
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+20It is wrong to invade other countries and overthrow their governments. Germany's invasion of Poland in 1939 was wrong. The US invasion of Iraq in 2003 was wrong.
- tommy7154, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19I'm right here in the US and i'm stumped by this question. I know 2 different people that voted for him for a second time and neither of them follow politics at all. They voted just because they could vote apparently. I'm still pissed.
- PhonicUK, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17Letter would be fine except for one problem. He used words longer than 2 syllables, and as such ol' George would never be able to understand it.
- enki25, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17The Al-Qaeda that attacked us is not in Iraq. They are not affiliated in any way. Killing Muslims for "the greater good" is genocide.
- ToxicGas, on 08/11/2008, -3/+18if you really believe that the elections weren't rigged after all the evidence to the contrary, then you're the real numbnuts here
- thatbuncha, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15wow. yes, it's all because of kerry. you retard.
there are a number of rules he's bent, broke, and abused. i shalln't list them all, i'd be here all day. first order of business: went against the UN! - TheSak, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15When you don't have an argument, it is a good idea to resort to ad hominem attacks.
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Sadam and Al-Qaeda had no love for each other you boob. I hope you aren't leagally able to vote. If you are then I beg you... Please don't vote. You will do more harm than good.
- bradym80, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16That letter reads like Keith Olbermann
- deadhead05, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15What the letter is saying is that killing Iraqis and destroying their families is the best thing that Al Qaeda could have hoped for, because it's breeding hate for America. It's then very easy for an anti-American group like Al Qaeda to get new members. All those kids that are growing up seeing their parents murdered are going to be much more likely to join a group like Al Qaeda after an experience like that.
- xenex11, on 10/10/2007, -8/+21I challenge all those people out there who are still Bush supporters to name JUST ONE THING that Bush has EVER said (since being appointed President) that has not been a lie...
- khail250, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16We talk about success, at this point really, what can be considered success. Honestly, kill Al-Qaeda? what will change then? besides hundreds of thousands dead Iraqi, and the middle east hating us more, Dead soldiers?
There can be no success at this point, no good can come from this war.. - EricSchC1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Not to mention the fact that war solving social inequality and violence is like a kid solving his family's problems by being the schoolyard bully. Violence begets violence. Pure and simple.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+19Al Qaeda In Iraq (which is not the same group as attacked the US) makes up less than 5% of the violence that is going on.
- ThomasPaine23, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14There is a plan, it's a simple one, which has been the same from the start, NEVER LEAVE. That is why we have built huge new permanent bases there, and the embassy. Now it is finally coming out into the open. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20777019/
- enki25, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Why is it that comments like these criticizing the rationality of the digg audience are always completely void of any rationality themselves? It's like "stupid ***** diggers and their potty mouths, all they ever ***** do is swear like the smegma covered ***** they are. *****".
- leexy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13One the one hand, this guy is claiming that "we are not ignorant people". On the other hand, we have a third of Americans who still think that Saddam was involved in 9/11. I'm confused.
- jftitan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14let me correct your statement... No good has come from this war. (period)
America is now in a debt (errr has been but we are now even further) than ever, to which we are going to suffer from for generations to come. Bush has taken us into war and it is starting to feel like another Vietnam. We will be there forever, and only thing we have done is dump money into disappearing accounts to which the American tax payers are going to suffer from.
Along with the fact that the rest of the world (Middle-East) hates us more, we are killing ourselves by off shoring our jobs, and manufacturing. These days nothing is really created in America anymore. Our housing economy has been a fluke for years, and we are starting to see some bursting markets. Dot Com v2.0 is here, but the money generated by these companies are not backed. because the American dollar is plummeting. Our stock market is smokes and mirrors. Our corporate masters are punishing us, because when THEY ***** the consumer ends up paying for the 'additional' checks and balances. (Toy prices are stated to increase because of all the recalls in toys has caused for increased costs in testing/safety requirements. To which I say ***** YOU to those companies because, it wasn't ME or the other asshat that bought the toy thinking. "Oh what a great price this toy is, I'll pay 29.99 for it, but later it will kill me."' However after said company does their job I have to now pay 39.99 for that same toy because the manufacture has to keep making its profit even though they are the ones who skipped out on the check when it came to health and safety standards. No. You dropped the prices because you were being cheap, and cheap meant sales. Short term gains!!!! but when ***** hits the fan, the consumer gets to pay more because the company can't be burdened with lower percent gains, that if it has to pay more then it looks bad to them and their shareholders.
America ***** WAKE UP! Our government spies on its citizens, we are dumping money into a war that BEFORE 9/11 was stated that a good 25% of what the military spends is unaccounted for. YET the military is underfunded, and we need to keep giving more tax payer money to contractors who are NOT held accountable for the total bill. IE: contractor says it will cost $500k to do the job. Yet if the military does it, it would cost alot less. lets say for this example the military (core of engineers) could do a project for $300k, of which 25% of that ends up being unaccounted for. But we need more money because the money the military has isn't enough. Oh and instead of paying the military lets pay a contractor twice as much, and probably get less.
We have our own natural disasters, bad economy (although San Antonio TX is growing), horrible credit problems, homeless, hunger, and enough crimes that slip through the cracks. So why are we policing ourselves to death over smoking pot, when we have killers who have been on the run for years. still killing. Instead we have a news media that entertains. Associations that criminalize its consumers (MP/RIAA), Healthcare that bankrupts people because current insurance policies are pointless. ("You have a broken penis, the hospital only fixes vaginas." cred. Lewis Black, Accepted) My family just lost a life insurance policy on my living father. We HAD a 100k life insurance policy that for the last 15 years we have been paying close to $50 a month. The insurance company two months ago, jacked the rates to $250+ a month with no explanation as to WHY. We just lost the policy because our rep will not call us back or even give us our options. for 15 ***** years we have been paying on a policy to which the company jacked the rates to over what we can afford.
... /rant (I'm getting even more pist about my personal problems over whats going on around me) - EricSchC1, on 10/10/2007, -6/+17But less than 25% of the people approve of him now. Just because we were fooled then, doesn't mean we're still fooled. That and 55% (if you believe that count as accurate) is hardly a landslide victory.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13Indict now.
- rspeed, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Bush says success would be making Iraq self-sustainable. But then, even at that point the success is in nation building, and at an unfathomable cost to Iraq, the US and the other "nations of the willing" in both human lives and money. There's simply no possibly way we can regain that.
So yeah, I guess we've already lost. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Millions of Americans were in the streets opposing this illegal war BEFORE it started. That's not "hindsight." You can google up February 15, 2003 and see the pictures of it.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+15Yes, it probably will.
That is something the lying ***** in the White House should have considered, but due to rampant stupidity and willful ignorance they did not.
It's something that was anticipated by the progressives, since they actually THINK about things, rather than making an announcement and hoping later to be able to find the data to back it up. - dvdrtrgn, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13You are stupid on so many levels. Sorry.
- SunBear629, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13I hope people read this soon. Since Mr. Bush as used proclamation to make those that speak out against him criminals, this post, and perhaps his hosted site may soon be taken down "for national security." It truly is time for impeachment to begin.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12What is the difference in your opinion? Was the USAs story about WMD less credible than the Germans story of Polish incursions into Germany?
- cmost, on 10/10/2007, -6/+16I couldn't have said it better myself; this writer hit every major point. What I can't comprehend is how this president and his pack of cronies have managed to remain in office! President Bush and Company should be facing charges for crimes against humanity in the Hague! Oh wait, the United States exempted itself from the reach of the World Court treaty.
- FRANKeB, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Your sentiment's are EXACTLY what this administration wants to hear. They don't want to leave. EVER. They just needed to get us in, now we are stuck. They are just doing the laziest and careless damage control until the Dems take over. Then the dems will start conscription as they always were the ones to start the draft. Then they take power back the next time around by promising to kill the draft. They have everything but the truth worked out.
- sazerac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Look it's rationalthinker showing off his ignorance...again!
- OHiggins, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10The argument is between Iraq and Al-Qaeda. Using your argument Bush is as much a terrorist as the dictator he took down.
- hatdrop, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9maybe because throughout the 6 years since 9/11 everyone who has felt contrary to this administration has been labeled un-patriotic, treasonous, and disloyal?
- staffa, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Please don't confuse 'support our troops' with 'supporting the idea that our troops should be in Iraq'. They are entirely different things and people who use one for the other make me nauseous.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12*****. The Iraqis want the US troops dead. 79% of Iraqis oppose US troops, 57% back attacks on US troops.
http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003637816 - leexy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10The consensus puts Al-Qaeda forces at around 10% of the insurgency total. The crucial point that's overlooked is that the Iraqis tolerate (not so much lately( Al-Qaeda because they view them as fighting on their side. I'll remind you that the majority of people in Iraq condone attacks on Americans
