Description:
News and Blog aggrigator for political issues. - UnstableMind, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20Now all we need is some Digg Thumbs Up or Down buttons next to the bills so we the people can vote on the issue and get rid of our "Representatives" since we have mass communication and mass/cross-country transit now and can speak for ourselves. Say good-bye to corporations running/manipulating our government to benefit them, even though they don't give a damn about the average consumer, just the bottom dollar. Maybe that's how we can get America back on track to what our predecessors intended.
Vote for me one day and I will try to make this happen... I shall reveal my name one day.... - jetsonian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Can we please stop posting links to blogs that discuss a site? Just link to the real site!
- Prysorra, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13NO.
Unless you're provably an American citizen (security/identity issue?), I do NOT want my country.....hell....ANY country potentially ***** up because someone felt like making sock puppet accounts.
It's harder to sock puppet paper. - guidos83, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11It is about time that someone made political information more accessible to lay people such as myself. Political info is very easy to come by, but not until after the media has dissected its content to serve themselves.
- blapierre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9The founders didn't intend or want to create a direct democracy. In fact, they despised it. Go back to US History 101 please.
- sambtravis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You can say that again... Oh wait, you did.
- hambend, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Someone already did. This story is a dupe.
http://digg.com/politics/The_REAL_story_about_Congress - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yeah, I was testing digg's comment form. I didn't know what to put because I didn't read the article. :)
- noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The founders were rather arrogant wealthy men of education. They didn't want the general populous to represent themselves because the general populous was stupid.
- 186k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Created and Maintained exclusively by the left. Take a gander at the creators and staff.
Good Idea & Nice wrapper but be upfront with who you are.
IT IS NOT A GOVERNMENT PORTAL - argoff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, I hope it is not forgotten that a good government is not defined by the laws that it passes, but by the ones that it doesn't, or can't.
- littlebylittle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sweet
- Toupee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Barack Obama and Ron Paul the top viewed politicians? Nice.
It would be awesome if you could keep track of certain people or items and watch for updates. Although they do offer RSS feeds... - calvmari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Funny thing is though that this dupe got it up on the front page again which I support.
- dhman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Below is a link to the Sunlight Foundation's website where they have a comprehensive list of sites dealing with government spending and policy, as well as campaign contributions. It's all part of a grassroots effort to put our elected officials on notice that we are going to hold them accountable for the things they do. I encourage all Americans to start looking, asking questions and expecting answers.
http://www.sunlightfoundation.com/resources - calvmari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's a start.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2OpenCongress is the evolution of information that should have been open, public and transparent LONG ago. Everyone should be involved in making the world and our homes better places and this is an excellent tool. I'm happy something like this exists so we can all learn from it and make progress/improvements. Knowledge is power. Thanks OpenCongress, best wishes.
I'm going to submit OpenCongress.org to http://www.UniversalSeed.org - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3friggin blog spam.
- 1337Einstein, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4A shame this links it through a blog, but I'll still digg it.
- digguerre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1although i agree with Prysorra's opinion, your are dead on about the need to get the upper hand on "...corporations running/manipulating our government to benefit them, even though they don't give a damn about the average consumer, just the bottom dollar."
- dustyshadow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2just mark the article as spam and move on
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1terrible duplicate. the actual site was dugg yesterday, as other posters have noted.
- UnstableMind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There are plenty of safeguards we could put into place to make sure it is legitimate. Way better than what's going on now. We could limit voting to citizens with at lease a High School education and voting could be based on Social SN or something similiar and you can checkup on your vote online to insure no one has tampered with the results, etc...
American Revolution 2.0 - n1ghtw0lf81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This idea would actually work if people still registered to vote, that would prevent "sock puppet accounts." I bet participation in general elections would go WAY up. The 5% who don't have internet access could go to the polls. All they'd need at the polls is an old Pentium 2 on dialup, would still be more reliable than today's voting machines :P
- thadiusdean, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Too bad the site isn't working so well... I guess that's to be expected from a beta.
Correct me if I'm wrong. - MrStylz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1...

- UnstableMind, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4Now all we need is some Digg Thumbs Up or Down buttons next to the bills so we the people can vote on the issue and get rid of our "Representatives" since we have cross-country transit and mass communication now and can speak for ourselves. Say good-bye to corporations running/manipulating our government to benefit them. They don't give a damn about the average American, just the bottom dollar. Just look at why any job that can be done remotely or over the phone is going over seas where they can pay pennies on the dollar, they don't give a *****. The big international ones don't give a *****, they make more money. Maybe that's how we can get America back on track to what our predecessors intended.
Vote for me one day and I will try to make this happen... I shall reveal my name one day....
Sorry, was editing and my browser died, didn't notice the double post at the time.
