- inactive, on 10/25/2007, -3/+14I live in Los Angeles. I worked in Malibu for 3 years. The wildfires come almost every year. It's funny that now the enviromentalists blame the fires on global warming. Why is it funny? Because when the fire department wanted to cut down a lot of the areas currently burning (to prevent this kind of mass spreading) guess who sued the city to stop them... That's right, enviromentalist. Well, they saved the trees... until they burned today of course. Along with 1,300 homes. I wonder who the families who's homes are destroyed and the family of the person that was killed by the fire blame, Global Warming or the enviromentalist that stood in the way of the fire department to keep the trees and brush that's fueling the fire from being cut down?
- evilic0n, on 10/25/2007, -1/+8George Bush does not like black people.
- mdwhite, on 10/26/2007, -3/+10I chide myself at being amazed by the utter stupidity of Harry Reid. I should know full well by now that the man, like his counterpart on the House side, is a vapid ass, but, for whatever reason, hope springs eternal...
- ZandorMonkeyBoy, on 10/26/2007, -2/+8That's funny because I blame enviro-wackos for Malibu burning. If you can't clear the forests, Mom will do it for you.
- whodat51773, on 10/25/2007, -3/+9Imagine if Reid and Pelosi had Hillary as their leader! Wake UP America!
- Teachum, on 10/25/2007, -3/+8"One reason why we have the fires in California is global warming,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters Tuesday,..." Duh -dumbass Mr. Reid, perhaps another reason is that it's 'SEASONAL', showing that the climatology is balanced. Perhaps another reason is that your cheapass won't provide for underbrush clearings and controlled burns, before the fire season starts! This has been going on for decades. Shame-on-you Mr. Reid, capitalizing on the misfortune of others as usual. Do you have carbon credits Mr. Reid? If, so California should sue the credits off of your incompetent butt.
- Voxster, on 10/25/2007, -3/+8I'm not from California but it seems to be common sense that the FACT that the BRUSH is not allowed to be cut down is nothing but FUEL for the winds that have nothing to do w/ "global warming". Harry Reid has got to be the biggest idiot who has ever taken the podium in the House. You want "Global Warming Caused By Humans" Mr. Reid? Well you've got it now. Liberal humans who worship the creation rather than the Creator!
- doctechnical, on 10/25/2007, -2/+6Ah, Global Warming. Is there *anything* we can't blame it for?
I have a toothache. Damn you, Global Warming! - goofyroot, on 10/26/2007, -1/+5The vast majority of wildfires are caused by humans. Many fires are started as a result of debris burning. Often these fires are rekindled, in some cases several days after the fire is thought to be out, when air temperature, wind speed and relative humidity come together to create conditions favorable for fires to burn and spread.
Lightning also is responsible for fires. Such fires occur at a frequency of three to five every year. Lightning here is generally associated with rain, so these fires do not usually grow to a large size.
Human caused fires most often the result of arson or carelessness. These fires are usually suppressed before they become large, but some have reached into the hundreds of acres and threatened life and property.

- randf, on 10/25/2007, -2/+4real class there henry. showing everyone what a global warming alarmist/idiot he is and exploiting the fire tragedy to push his propaganda on another "comprehensive" (comprehensive--that's scary) democratic plan.
- Kent4jmj, on 10/24/2007, -0/+2You don't need the Federal government if a Governor and Mayor on the ball which seems to be the case here. Louisiana, and alll states, take note and elect people with the competence to deal with emergency situations. Washington DC is not the answer.
- Oxybeles, on 10/25/2007, -2/+4Perhaps Harry's brilliant mind can't fathom the fact that fires happen without Global Warming. Better chance that the Santa Ana's were caused by the Hot Air that Harry spews forth!
- jimski1961, on 10/25/2007, -4/+5People will still vote for these morons. Its getting pretty hopeless.since the mainstream media is not taking Sen Reid to task on this comment. The left accuse the right of scaring the American public about the war on terror. The left is even more despicable since they scare children about man made global warming.
- BC1358, on 10/24/2007, -2/+3 I've known many Nevada residents in my life and to a person they all seem to be reasonable, intelligent people. For the life of me, I can't imagine why they continue to re-elect such a profound idiot as Harry Reid. Before the week is out I'm sure some idiot Democrat will blaming President Bush for the fires.
- daddynichol, on 10/25/2007, -3/+4Senator Reid's idiot comments are the result of Global Warming.
- GySgtStryker, on 10/25/2007, -2/+3Harry Reid ought to go back to Searchlight, Nevada, and resume his old job of playing piano and singing in the local whorehouse. He's got a vast array of songs, some predicative, some retrograde, mostly disingenuous and all stupid.
His approval in Nevada is in the toilet, where his mind is most of the time. - bratpack8, on 10/25/2007, -1/+2Gore-bull warming, now that is CLASSIC! Permission to use elsewhere?
- tadchem, on 10/25/2007, -2/+3California has several species of trees (among other things) whose reproductive cycle *depends* on periodic brush fires. The Lodgepole Pine, for example, will not release its seeds unless the pine cone is exposed to high enough temperatures to boil the moisture within. Fires have been a part of the ecology there for millions of years. Sen. Reid's evident feverish delirium is the result of Gore-bull warming.
- inactive, on 10/25/2007, -0/+1Yes, that was kind of my point. ... yet you just HAD to digg me down anyway. Come on! Cant you spot sarcasm? Why would anyone hate white people with beachfront property? Well, I guess I do resent the fact that they can afford it in the first place and it really sucks that you cant see the ocean anymore when you drive down the PCH... but I digress. Why would Bush hate them? He wouldnt, that's why it's sarcastic. And you went and Digged me down. You cant take it back. No matter how much you try. It wont let you.
Maybe you should take your right to Digg just a little more seriously, mister. - chalkboy, on 10/26/2007, -0/+1I feel sorry for people that have to deal with this on their own land. I am going to go home tonight and cut down a tree for all the people that can not.
- tyho, on 10/25/2007, -2/+3Why is it the environmentalists seem to be so selfish? They do what makes them feel good about themselves vs what would be best for people. It's as if they think of humans as an infestation of the planet.
- inactive, on 10/24/2007, -2/+21 million people evacuated and FEMA and Bush are nowhere to be seen. George Bush hates white people with beachfront houses.
- bratpack8, on 10/25/2007, -2/+2Hey, don't you know there weren't any fires in California in the 70's when we were warned about the soon-to-be ice age? And it should be no coincidence that these fires, and most massive fires, are on government owned land, just further proof that the tragedy of the commons is alive and well. If this were private property, it would be taken care of much much better.
- christine1116, on 10/27/2007, -0/+0Dont you know that the flooding in New Orlands was caused by Global Warming and Tsunami that happened a couple years ago was totally Global Warming and hey the 10 pointer earthquake that happened 2005 in South Asia.....Global Warming! The shootings at school, the immorality, the gangs and drugs.....yeah, you got it, Global Warming!!
- TheLoneWolf071, on 10/25/2007, -2/+2Why is it that for problems that have existed for years(IE hurricanes, wildfires) they are all of a sudden blaming global warming?
- khatarnaak, on 10/25/2007, -3/+2The reason why we have forest fires is global warming.
The reason why we have hurricanes is global warming.
The reason why we have floodings is global warming.
The reason why we have terrorists is global warming.
The reason why we have Bush and bin Laden is global warming.
You know, there should be a Godwin's law for global warming.
The reason why we have global warming is global warming. - bratpack8, on 10/25/2007, -2/+1Tragedy of the commons and the lack of property rights. Many times, people can't cut down trees on their own property! I think more people need to know that property rights are the foundation of freedom. Without property rights, which include your person, freedom is logically impossible.
- BigBlueCarbon, on 10/25/2007, -4/+2fire hot.
gw bad. - BigBlueCarbon, on 10/25/2007, -3/+1thank you for supporting michael jackson
