- olbroad, on 11/02/2008, -10/+19How about his anti 2nd Amendment votes? If you are anti self defense, I guess you could consider that an accomplishment. :/ Heard a radio caller who refused to believe that BO actually voted to ban ammo, and voted FOR prosecuting people who defend themselves in their own homes, wanting to charge them with a felony.
Oh, wait a minute...that wasn't what you are asking for is it. Welp...reckon he hasn't done diddly that's positive for freedom loving folks after all. Never mind. - phroztbyt3, on 11/03/2008, -8/+16here you go ass.......
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bills_sponsor ... - vhammon, on 11/03/2008, -4/+10This commentary is full of talking points that have long since been shown to be false or misleading. e.g. the hundred and some votes 'present' were out of over 4,000 votes cast. Voting 'present' is a way to say, this bill has problems that I think need to be changed before it comes to a vote.
- RennyB, on 11/03/2008, -7/+11duhduhduh,
There's no point attempting to persuade anyone here with things like facts or reasonable view points . In their mind returning the top tax margin to 39.6% over $250,000 is a Marxist policy, even though Reagan had higher (50% over $100,000) taxes. There's no point wasting keystrokes in a thread like this. Let these folks enjoy theirs delusions for the next day or so :) - momomathew, on 11/02/2008, -10/+13I will not comment, I will just be "Present"
- zeitfox, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3Ha, you cited an article in the New York Times dated August 16. I'd like to cite a much more recent NYT article, which is in fact an ENDORSEMENT of Obama: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/24/opinion/24fri1.h ...
So, apparently, despite sentiments in the August article, the NYT decided that he was a better choice than McCain.
McCain also has Fannie/Freddie ties: http://www.motherjones.com/mojoblog/archives/2008/ ...
Like this first argument, the rest of your arguments are already tired.
You conveniently have no links to support your more preposterous claims, like th firebombing, car tires slashed (if you do come up with a link for that one, I'll come up with a link to an article about Obama supporters suffering the same). - Eiknujrac, on 11/03/2008, -4/+6This is my favorite argument.
Barack Obama can't "Close the Deal"
You know why? Because it's exactly the same argument the Clinton campaign made against him. Guess what happened after that. - Eiknujrac, on 11/03/2008, -5/+7Ok let's use your logic on John McCains career.
During McCain's 26 year tenure in washington, he sponsored 1667 bills.
Out of those bills, 17 became law. That makes his passing percentage 1.02%, 45% lower than Obama's passing rate.
So, using your logic: "So 17 out of 1667 bills sponsored by the good Senator from Arizona became law, woooow! Interesting that an ...sniffer like you couldn't tell that McB's own party did not bother voting for his stuff"
"Let's see, his own party, only took his bills seriously 1.02% of times. Yeap, absolutely an achievement... of sorts..." - MattCruikshank, on 11/03/2008, -2/+4"I can't think"
There, I removed the redundant stuff from the end of your statement for you. - tenesmus, on 11/03/2008, -10/+11But didn't you hear Oprah? He's "The One!"
No, this isn't a Cult of Personality at all..... - Hetman, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1They have done many things. 95% of them were bad things but they did do a lot.
- inactive, on 11/08/2008, -0/+1This is why I use the null sign (∅) as the first letter in its name / derivatives. It is a worthless empty suit, a cipher, a nonentity which "struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." None will mark its passing through this world except by their losses for its existence.
- inactive, on 11/03/2008, -1/+2Raised spending more than I dreamed even the Democrats could/would do. (Hey, you asked.) And that's why I'm not too jazzed about Obama, either -- he's a big spender, too. As is McSame. See their bailout votes if you think there's any substantial difference.
- ericcarroll, on 11/03/2008, -1/+2Apparently, MattCruikshank couldn't either so he, like so many others, resorted to personal attacks instead.
- Echota, on 01/05/2009, -3/+3I'll go you one Better!
What Has George Dubya Bush,Dick Cheney,Carl Rove,John McCain done in the LAST 8 YEARS??????????
What has America got to show????????????????
Are We Better Off Now Then We were 8 year's ago???????????????
THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT!
Smear !! - ted532, on 11/03/2008, -2/+2No need to smite the "hope", because the "hope" is... for what? "Change" Great, what change(s) are you talking about? What "progress" are we talking about? From what to what, from where to where? The good junior Senator from Illinois has never defined what he means by those words. Give me specifics! ACTUALLY, YOU CAN'T!!!
Read this from the venerable New York Times:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/17/us/politics/17el ...
Out of McCain's 26 years in Congress how many of those was he in a Democrat controlled Congress?!?!? Changes the statistics, doesn't it?
Now, compare the laws that either one had passed, compare their importance, their relevance to the country at large. Granted McCain has been in national politics longer, he had more time to forge bipartisan ties, had more time to work for the national interest together with others from across the political isle. Both Hillary and Biden praised him repeatedly as did many other Democrats... there must be a reason, don't you think?
Next, if you are capable of thinking, if you are capable of intelligent analysis, if you are capable of opening your eyes then you know that McCain and Bush have had many serious disagreements and clashes. If Obama wanted to run against Bush, he should have done it in 2004, just as McCain told him in their last debate!
You wrote, "we cannot let their infectious messages of unity and progress for all reverse the financial ruin, war, and general despair we have built up over the last 8 years!" Let's start with the economy, shall we? Bailing out the fat cats on Wall Street was something that was initiated by your boys, albeit with the very willing help of many Republicans (but only after certain changes were made, that directed more money to helping out those about to loose their homes rather than a corrupt ACORN, as the original Democrat sponsored bill had proposed.)
Frankly, if the original bill was so good, why couldn't they pass it? Had all Dems voted together you would have had no need for any of the Repubs' votes!!! Please don't play so coy, if you bother to consider the facts, rather than your revisionist lies, if you look at the Congressional Record in the Library of Congress you'll also see this:
http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getpage.cg ...
The Repubs (McCain) actually warned us of the impending crisis and tried to do something about it! Senator Chris Dodd (Democrat!) Representative Barney Franks (Democrat!) made sure it died in committee as they continued to receive their "gratuities" from the very grateful Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
In his meager - all too short - time in Congress, Obama was the third largest recipient of Fannie and Freddie's corrupt largesse.... One former CEO of Fannie Mae (Franklin Raines),in spite of a well documented record of corruption, lies and conviction, was (until it became a problem) Obama's housing adviser... hmnnnn. Until it became inconvenient, another ex-Fannie Mae exec was working for the good Senator from Illinois - James Johnson - who was in charge of the committee vetting the Obama's VP choices... As for Obama's indefatigable work on behalf of his constituency while in Chicago politics read this, from a very Liberal newspaper:
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/06 ...
The fact remains that it is McCain supporters who are accused of racism, their offices fire bombed, their car tires slashed. Read the news! If you can hold yourself back from lying, if you can look at the truth squarely in the eye you would have to admit that the haters, the harassers, are your people and NOT the Republicans!
The mob mentality that the majority (not all, thank God!) of Obama fanatics display is exactly like that of the supporters of that accursed guy in Germany, your very accusations sadly prove it! - emailowndme, on 11/03/2008, -1/+1Name 1 good thing that has benefitted McCain's constituents?
the mccain leyhe act doesn't count either, all that did was monopolize the access that the largest groups of special interests in our country already had. - phroztbyt3, on 11/04/2008, -1/+1you asked for one... dumb *****. thats 2
- inactive, on 11/03/2008, -5/+5We are at a crossroads folks. This is the final push.
While the majority of the United States filled with hope over the idea of getting out from under the oppressive disaster of the last 8 years, eager to change the politics of Washington so they better serve every citizen, and praying that they can rebuild the economy from the bottom up so everyone benefits, we as Republicans must stop them.
To date, those positive and hopeful people have somehow risen above our efforts to bring doubt, hate, divisiveness, and lies into political discourse this election. DO NOT GIVE UP. We can still SCREW everyone yet.
We need to do what we as Republicans do best.
1. Where others are speaking facts and truths, we must bombard everyone with with fear and lies (it is what we are best at).
2. If someone is positive and happy, we remind them how awful things are.
3. When we see positive change, we destroy it.
4. If someone presents hard facts, we ignore the truth and protect ourselves with our internal mental barrier that tells us FACTS LIE.
5. If we are wealthy, we serve ourselves.
6. If we are middle-class and poor, we serve the wealthy.
Let’s not let the hopeful and motivated Obama supporters change what we have all worked so hard to create over the last 8 years.
We cannot let their infectious messages of unity and progress for all reverse the financial ruin, war, and general despair we have built up over the last 8 years!
We must continue to draw on our inner hate and ugliness to crush those who wish for a better life for their families, and especially for their children.
Together, we can be a force of nastiness to be reckoned with. No one is better at under-handed, disgusting tactics than we, the Republican Party. Most people think we are low life disgusting people now... just wait until they see how much worse we can get!
For the next 24 hours, we will lie more, yell in people’s faces louder, scare old people and small children, spread false rumors about anyone who seems positive in any way about anything, tout our successes during the Bush years, oppress the weak, and most of all, hate everyone who is decent and kind.
McCain / Palin 2008
Together, we can divide the country and bring despair to everyone. Go GOP!
“Smite the Hope, Stop the Progress, Crush Change” - Stevanoski, on 11/03/2008, -10/+9Saint Farrakhan says he's the Messiah. Nothing from O? It would scare me to death to think people were calling me the Messiah. Why has he not put a stop to this? If he believes he is the Messiah, then folks, we are in alot of trouble.
- inactive, on 11/03/2008, -13/+11I can't think of one single thing the Democrat Party has done to benefit the country.
- ryan83189, on 11/03/2008, -6/+3Now that's what I call experience.
- dirtpoorchris, on 11/03/2008, -13/+10Obama is Hitler.
- chaimke, on 11/03/2008, -9/+6So 2 out of 136 bills sponsored by the good junior Senator from Illinois became law, woooow! Interesting that an ...sniffer like you couldn't tell that O's own party did not bother voting for his stuff. I guess you are right, and I do owe everyone an apology, he has achieved an unbelievable record, he has an unmatched accomplishment (unenviable, mind you!). Let's see, his own party, only took his bills seriously 1.48% of times. Yeap, absolutely an achievement... of sorts...
- jancan1966, on 11/03/2008, -9/+5Let's face it, since BHO has been running for prez he hasn't been able to close the deal. The race is tightening and I feel Mac can pull it out.
I pray all the polls are just the "Bradley Effect" and "his" supporters are to lazy to go and vote on Tuesday! - duhduhduh, on 11/02/2008, -24/+15How about the bills he sponsored or supported that helped wounded veterans and their families? Or maybe the Illinois law requiring videotaping of police interrogations?
