Share it with everyone you know. - bitfreak, on 05/23/2008, -13/+100If you haven't seen the video, it's painful. McCain needs some syrup with his waffle.
- inactive, on 05/23/2008, -30/+881/3 of 1% of the country's population, and probably people who were already voting against McCain.
Wow, that's huge. I'd say congratulations if it was actually deserving of it. - kemp34, on 05/23/2008, -12/+56McCain is a total charlatan and fool. How he is a legit presidential candidate is beyond me. What the hell is wrong with America?
- eltrev, on 05/23/2008, -15/+57I support Obama enthusiastically, but I also recognize the tired 'ol politics behind this video. It has been seen by a million+ , and soon a million more. Most of them are already in the choir - it will change very few minds of the people that have already decided to support McCain. They are impervious to logic anyway - at least on the war front.
- iamtehwinnerz, on 05/23/2008, -17/+59But remember what it said at the end, its up to you to spread the word. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=15035931380 Join the Group. Watch the Vids. Tell 10 of Your Friends. The LAST thing America needs is another Bush.
- datcrazydj, on 05/23/2008, -6/+43Oh sorry guys. That was just me refreshing the page a couple hundred thousand times.
- nascentia, on 05/23/2008, -5/+38It doesn't matter if this is taken from different years and different interviews - it still highlights McCain's inconsistent nature and his tendency to flip on issues and sell himself out for the White House and the election. That speaks about his character as well.
On the other hand, you can look at clips of Obama going all the way back to before he was a senator, and he's been very consistent (such as in his opposition to the war in Iraq) and hasn't sold out or changed his views. Which shows good character. - Nitrouz, on 05/23/2008, -12/+43This needs to be shown on broadcast TV.
- theaceoffire, on 05/23/2008, -2/+32I vote to remove cap's lock from keyboards!
- cynic573, on 05/23/2008, -12/+40The people voting for McCain don't know about this new-fangled internet thing!
- swrostmore, on 05/23/2008, -16/+43Assuming even division, this video has been seen by 20,000 people in every state. Bush's margin of 'victory' in Florida (2000) was 500 votes. 40 times more people have seen this video in every state than it took to give the neoconservatives the White House.
- srikanthp, on 05/23/2008, -4/+30I love Americans! You do realize that I, in India can watch this video, and count towards the youtube stats? There are other countries in the world and we DO watch your media. However, not all of us can vote for Obama, (as much as we'd like to). Sorry for yelling but
AMERICA IS NOT THE ONLY COUNTRY ON THE PLANET! - nickert0n, on 05/23/2008, -7/+29Man thats hillarious, Digg this ***** up people cannot let this idiot get in power or the U.S. is done for.
- inactive, on 05/23/2008, -12/+33Who is dumber, Bush or McCain?
The ruling elite sure like them dumb! - inactive, on 05/23/2008, -5/+26I just don't get the out of context defense. Most of these things seem to be pretty simple statements. Is he an expert on economics or not? Does Petraeus' humvee need armor? Can you go to Iraq without a bullet proof vest? If you can't answer questions like these honestly how can you be trusted? Context isn't a defense for lying or being completely outrageously ignorant and insane.
- lerker, on 05/23/2008, -3/+24That's a pretty big assumption considering that there are viewers, like me, who don't even live in the US.
- inactive, on 05/23/2008, -5/+22It's funny you claim that McCain's presidential ambitions are hanging by a thread, and then go on to claim that somehow Paul is going to get the nomination, let alone win the presidency.
I don't care for McCain either, but ease up on the cognitive dissonance, ok? - inactive, on 05/23/2008, -5/+22You wouldn't believe how many people still believe that "Obama is a muslim", or who "absolutely won't vote for a colored person"
I'm certainly not suggesting those are the sole reasons, far from it. But I know it certainly plays a part, especially in the southern states. I myself know a hillary supporter who fits the typical description (uneducated woman, in her fifties, low-middle-class) who has told me she "would vote for mccain over obama". yet when I ask her why, citing the fact that Obama and Hillary have alot closer voting records than hillary or McCain, she kinds of avoids the issue, and won't give me a legitimate response. It's surprising just how much bigotry still exists today in this country, in people you wouldn't even have suspected. - Strungout, on 05/23/2008, -3/+19The issue has more to do with McCain doing complete 180s on every issue. I can't really blame the guy for flip flopping, since that was the only way he would get the GOP nomination.
- bjornski, on 05/23/2008, -4/+20Ignorance, apathy and greed.
- aptanalogy, on 05/23/2008, -2/+17Because he can't decide which waffle to eat?
- thirdcoastborn, on 05/23/2008, -6/+21you have to be the dumbest ***** on digg. can i get a thumbs up please.
- inactive, on 05/23/2008, -11/+25One million youtube views is NOT one million people. Catch a clue, people.
- serif69, on 05/23/2008, -1/+15OK, so 1/66 of 1% of the world's population has seen this.
- wendelgee2, on 05/23/2008, -4/+18You can't "debunk" stupidity.
By the way...I wish this video had a clip of McCain saying that he'd have to consult with his advisers before taking a stand on whether condoms help prevent AIDS. Brainless old fool. - inactive, on 05/23/2008, -3/+17You're wrong - this pressure has forced McCain to reject the endorsement he welcomed graciously merely a month ago. This could anger the extreme fundamentalists that agree with Hagee and Parsley and drive them to a fringe candidate. It also makes McCain look like an uninformed flip-flopper.
- thirdcoastborn, on 05/23/2008, -12/+23Didn't I already call you out as the dumbest ***** on digg?
- GregFD3S, on 05/23/2008, -22/+32Kerry has a spine of steel compared to McCain.
- soccerman90, on 05/23/2008, -2/+12stupidity at it's finest
your basically saying I recognize how terrible of a candidate McCain is but im still to pig headed to vote otherwise
congrats on being a dumb ass American, you're making us all proud - matadata, on 05/23/2008, -1/+10He's a troll, and you hit the bait. I'm giving you a thumbs up, anyway. If you feed a troll again though, you're grounded from my thumbs-uppin'!
- serif69, on 05/23/2008, -1/+10System told me the first one didn't post correctly. There needs to be a ubiquitous delete button for your own comments.
- wendelgee2, on 05/23/2008, -2/+10Pretty happy with the way things are going here in America, huh?
- jamesfaction, on 05/23/2008, -2/+10Facedog: LOL. Because Republicans do? Pot calling the kettle black?
"Flip flopper" was coined by the Bush campagn as an insult term to throw at John Kerry last election. Is your memory THAT short? - V3n0M, on 05/23/2008, -1/+9We can't he just eat his waffle?
- inactive, on 05/23/2008, -4/+11Ron paul would certainly not be obama in the general. Seriously, you people thought he would easily get the GOP nomination, and you guys were dead wrong. Haven't you learned your lesson?
I can just see the debates:
Paul: "I want to abolish the FDA, cut off research funding (medical, scientific, and technological), cut off college loans + grants, and finally, abolish anti-trust, child-labor, and minimum-wage laws"
Obama: "I don't want to do those things"
Headline the next day: Obama wins in landslide victory - swrostmore, on 05/23/2008, -2/+9By virtue of them being interested enough in politics to watch a 3 minute video about John McCain campaign gaffes, I'd say they are far more likely to vote than a truly random sampling of US citizens - for reference, turnout in 2004 was 60%
- jjpertusch, on 05/23/2008, -1/+8im so confused!
- rationalist, on 05/23/2008, -2/+9Hey, at least if he were a dumb liar you could say he didn't know any better.
Your argument is that he apparently is smart enough to know better, yet still contradicts himself repeatedly in order to curry favor with whoever is conducting the interview or listening to the debate.
Way to defend the indefensible. - cliffoliveira, on 05/23/2008, -2/+9WE'LL DO IT LIVE!!!
- adml_shake, on 05/23/2008, -4/+9I watch these, and I keep expecting him to go into a rant about tubes and dump trucks.
- LowROI, on 05/23/2008, -1/+7I'd eat the one with syrup on it for sure.
- rationalist, on 05/23/2008, -2/+8Your argument is illogical. You are defending McCain by saying that he contradicts himself every other year and even at different times of the year?
Obviously the clips are from different interviews. I guess the best thing you can say for the guy is he hasn't yet contradicted himself within the course of the same five minute interview... oh wait, nevermind. - peacecat, on 05/23/2008, -1/+7That must be why he graduated 894 out of a class of 899.
- namar777, on 05/23/2008, -2/+8ARGH!! it burns it burns... the lies the lies again!! lol :^P
- SteveIsTheDude, on 05/23/2008, -2/+8You should read "The Audacity of Hope" and you will see that Obama is very much a centrist and respects Republican ideas, very much. Get your Republicans for Obama stickers on your cars now and start educating other Republicans about the best candidate, who happens to be a dem...
- nicejai, on 05/23/2008, -1/+7It's not even that. I see nothing wrong with people changing their minds *as long as they changed it because they're considering new information they did not receive before*.
The problem with McCain is he can't explain why his views/opinions are different today than they were last week, month, or year. I mean, if he said something like "I know I said that last year, here are the reasons why my message is different now: A, B, C, D, etc".
To learn is to be open to ideas that may suggest the position you hold is sub-optimal. Flipping opinions is entirely normal in the process of being open-minded while learning, and should not be seen negatively. BUT, changing opinions should be substantiated with significant and reasonable additional information.
The fact that McCain is flip-flopping and Obama is not doesn't *directly* imply that Obama has good character. Obama's good character has led to him to think long and hard about difficult issues, that in turn, led him to some very solid answers. *This* is why Obama doesn't flip-flop, because he's got solid answers that are direct results from actually thinking long and hard about serious domestic social issues and foreign policy.
McCain is flip-flopping because he obviously has no opinion on anything that really matters, and is simply saying what he thinks will make him look good to the viewers who watch whatever show the interviewer represents. It is painfully obvious that this man clearly has no idea what he's talking about.
Full disclosure: I'm not an American, I'm a Canadian. You may not know this, but trust me when I tell you that the *entire world* is looking for Obama to be your next president. - SirZac, on 05/23/2008, -1/+7Is voting by party really the best way to better our country?
- rationalist, on 05/23/2008, -2/+8My aunt hates baseball, what makes TV executives think there is a market for broadcasting MLB?
Sorry, I strained to find the most ridiculous analogy I could think of, but it still doesn't come close to your breathtaking display of illogic. - slowmotiony, on 05/23/2008, -0/+5***** IT!
