- flipside3, on 09/15/2008, -0/+7This is a great article. I wish everyone could read it and see what she's really like. She's Bush the Younger all over again.
- LeeinJax, on 09/15/2008, -0/+6Sarah Palin is MINI NIXON!
Anyone else sick of the dolts who elect a guy like GWBush and NOW act embarrassed and ashamed of HIM, but want to elect McCain and Palin? Some people never learn!
As our country is falling apart, SORRY just isn't going to be enough this time.
ps, I apologize to the ghost of Richard Nixon who was also entirely paranoid, vicious, vindictive, and ruthless--but he was 100 times smarter than Gov. IceBarbie. - ColRanger, on 09/15/2008, -0/+5When is the public going to see all this and Turn The Tide?
- DOCNM, on 09/15/2008, -0/+5So, this is what the Republicans consider essential executive experience: fire knowledgeable people, intimidate your staff, hire cronies, act in greatest secrecy, use state funds and power to help your friends and punish your enemies.
How can a sane person want a VP or possibly a president like her? - cxrfreeman, on 09/15/2008, -0/+4Maybe she's really Dick Palin, or Sarah Rove in disguise?
FTA: Interviews show that Ms. Palin runs an administration that puts a premium on loyalty and secrecy. The governor and her top officials sometimes use personal e-mail accounts for state business; dozens of e-mail messages obtained by The New York Times show that her staff members studied whether that could allow them to circumvent subpoenas seeking public records... “Their secrecy is off the charts.” - lisaatucla, on 09/16/2008, -0/+4her popularity has peaked. She did what she was supposed to: rally their base. But she can't hide forever. When she starts doing debates and real interviews, the swing & independent voters will see her for what she is - completely unqualified with extreme right wing views.
- jlacyfraz, on 09/16/2008, -0/+3Cronyism gave us Brownie doing a helluva job. We cannot survive 8 more years of this.
- Alheithinn, on 09/17/2008, -0/+3This is absolutely essential reading. Stephen Colbert's joke about the current Administration refusing to answer questions and the McCain/Palin team refusing to even allow questions, is right on the mark. No entity recognizable as America will emerge from another four years of Bush politics.
- lisaatucla, on 09/16/2008, -0/+3Palin is an ordinary hockey mom, who may soon have the power to make extraordinary mistakes.
- GreeneMachine, on 09/18/2008, -0/+2Problem is that this article is in the NY Times, which conservatives write off as now being part of the liberal media. We need undecided voters who DON'T BELIEVE the NY Times to know about this, and there doesn't seem to be any way to reach them in a manner they trust.
- decimatedburito, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2NO, not every other political values loyalty over competence. NO, not every other politician tries to make state business secret and not subpoenable. AND EVEN if they ALL DID, then can we at least have the potential next president have more foreign policy experience than looking at Russia from an island?! Please?!

- Theodora12, on 09/18/2008, -0/+2FTA:
"Ms. Palin walks the national stage as a small-town foe of 'good old boy' politics and a champion of ethics reform.....But an examination of her swift rise and record as mayor of Wasilla and then governor finds that her visceral style and penchant for attacking critics — she sometimes calls local opponents 'haters' — contrasts with her carefully crafted public image.
"Throughout her political career, she has pursued vendettas, fired officials who crossed her and sometimes blurred the line between government and personal grievance, according to a review of public records and interviews with 60 Republican and Democratic legislators and local officials."
She calls her critics "haters"?? She pursues vendettas and fires people who "crossed" her?? Not very Christian of her, is it? - cxrfreeman, on 09/15/2008, -0/+2FTA: And four months ago, a Wasilla blogger, Sherry Whitstine, who chronicles the governor’s career with an astringent eye, answered her phone to hear an assistant to the governor on the line, she said.
“You should be ashamed!” Ivy Frye, the assistant, told her. “Stop blogging. Stop blogging right now!” - bradenmugg, on 09/17/2008, -0/+0Why so few diggs? Is this 5 page article too long for Digg reader's attention spans?
- decimatedburito, on 09/16/2008, -1/+1Don't count on it. Nearly half the country voted for Bush the first time. Too many people places undue emphasis on unimportant things-she's a hockey mom AND a governor AND eats mooseburgers-and put far too little emphasis on things like competence, policy, ethics, experience, and knowledge (among other things). Can't wait to see all the Wasilla High School grads in the Vice President's office! Will this country EVER LEARN!?
- hydrodev, on 09/16/2008, -3/+1Yea? So does EVERY OTHER politician!
So what makes this different?
