- Echota, on 01/05/2009, -32/+179I had the pleasure to see this and it was great!
Keith O. got McCain dead center with every word he spoke!
I wish the rest of the media had guts enough to tell it like it really is instead of trying to put a spin on it for ratings! - alapoet, on 08/19/2008, -29/+158That's a great Olbermann rant destined to be ranked among his classics.
- angeladtao, on 08/19/2008, -21/+137I do my research and have found time after time that the truth has emerged on MSNBC before it has on any other media outlet. I subscribe to both far right and far left media watch sites and all kinds of news, opinion, and blog sites in between. I fact check at Annenberg and read newspapers from around the world where I often hear the truth that is (yes, really) censored from our media across the board. I spend most of my day doing this type of work because I care about the world, my country, my local community, and the way our wounded troops are being treated. Time after time, MSNBC has delivered more of the truth than any other station. Fox is a joke. I enjoy Keith's rants because he says what I am thinking - except better. I am constantly surprised that his corporate execs still allow him to say the things he says. I give kudos to them all. Perhaps they are starting to realize that the country is beginning to see things his way since his ratings are still going up. People who don't appreciate his style or viewpoint can't take that away from him. He's my guy!
- OdepiTy, on 08/19/2008, -24/+97Let’s have an adult campaign here, in other words and I am embarrassed to have to say this to a man who turns 72 at the end of this month Senator, grow up!
- tcbishop12, on 08/19/2008, -28/+73I agree with alapoet. Woooooweee! Lord Gawd Almighty! Did Keith Olbermann ever open up and let loose a mighty can of whupp-as_ on John McCain! Thanks, BishkekBuddy! Wow!
- bigcynic, on 08/19/2008, -14/+55How DARE Olbermann insult a decorated war hero like John McCain!
What? John Kerry was a decorated war hero, too?
Oh. Never mind. - richdoll, on 08/19/2008, -27/+66i've have been waiting for keith to do a special comment way over due but worth it's wait in gold...
- fce4obama, on 08/19/2008, -23/+59Great 'special comment'! After what the McCain camp did over Andrea's reporting, I'm sure they will put him through the meat grinder for his opinion. Way to go Keith!!!!!
- cersad, on 08/19/2008, -23/+50I loved it when he said McCain was like the old guy saying "YOU KIDS GET OFF MY LAWN!"
- OdepiTy, on 08/19/2008, -14/+39He isnt killing NBC he is actually helping it. MSNBC ranks number 1 in the 18-34 demo beating cnn and fixed news.
- cersad, on 08/19/2008, -6/+28This is true. Olbermann cannot be accused of being "fair and balanced"--but has he ever actually done so? Pardon my ignorance, but I recognized him as an editorialist from day one, and would be surprised if he claimed anything to the contrary.
I can't say I've watched him too often, but he seems to be presenting himself as more an opposing editorial force to the conservative mouthpieces like Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly. I will say, however, that in this clip Olbermann was fair to McCain in that he presented the whole quotes (no ellipses or omissions) which allows viewers to judge the merits of the statements, at least until he carries on to his own conclusions. In other words, although not unbiased, he certainly seems to be reasonably honest... for an editorialist. - EarlOfLade, on 08/19/2008, -4/+25I agree, I much prefer MSNBC over CNN.
Much better coverage, earlier and with better hosts. - dinot, on 08/19/2008, -8/+28Wow. Wishing death on someone who doesn't agree with you. Don't you sound like an Islamic extremist today?
- chrissku, on 08/19/2008, -12/+27McCain really needs to get a better toothbrush. I find myself distracted by his rotting yellow teeth when he talks.
John take one day off the trail to see a specialist. Let's get that mouth all cleaned up little guy. Then we can get you on a daily brushing routine so we can avoid this in the future. - kingnothing1, on 08/19/2008, -13/+28Did anyone else clap in front of their monitor when he was done?
Cause I sure as hell did. - MacSuxWindozSux, on 08/19/2008, -3/+18O'reilly lies. He talks over people, he swears, and he cuts audio video feeds of people he's arguing with.
Olbermann has a lot of integrity, O'Reilly has none. - MacSuxWindozSux, on 08/19/2008, -6/+21When you disagree with Olbermann it's a matter of opinion, when you disagree with Rush or O'Reilly it's a matter of fact.
Olbermann isn't a liar, and he issues retractions when his errors are discovered. O'Reilly and Rush flat out lie about people and events knowingly as a means to win arguments and get points across.
It's not a matter of being a Liberal or a Conservative. If you are well informed, this realization comes quickly. - mywhitenoise, on 08/19/2008, -3/+18Olbermann is the ultimate troll. I mean that in a good way, he's an extremely well spoken and overall badass.
- ghostoftomjoad, on 08/20/2008, -3/+17OC73 = tool.... buried.
hey that was fun - Lynx55, on 08/19/2008, -26/+40GO KEITH!! He always manages to vent my frustrations for me! And he never, ever lacks the courage to say what needs being said!
- inactive, on 08/19/2008, -21/+35Geezer got TOLD.
- isiah1, on 08/19/2008, -13/+26He called McCain a jackass
- pilot3033, on 08/19/2008, -2/+14The difference is Obama is running for president and Olberman is commenting on the campaign. Olberman is not working for Sen. Obama, he's just making observations and giving opinions.
Additionally, Olberman makes a completely valid point about the hypocrisy of the McCain campaign and how their actions are ill-fit for both a man of McCain's stature and of a person running for president. And let me be clear, I'm all for changing positions on issues, that's how life works. For example: Obama supporting offshore drilling for the sake of funding renewable energy (compromise). But McCain doesn't change his position because of thoughtfulness, or because he's re-evaluated, he changes his position such that he tries to convince the country he's always felt that way, and that if you do change your mind you're somehow in the wrong. A 1-2 flip/flop hypocrite combo! - OrangeCrush, on 08/19/2008, -10/+22^Compared to Bill-O who still pretends his balanced while regurgitating right-wing propaganda.
- infinitydl, on 08/19/2008, -3/+15To be fair Bill O is against the Death Penalty, states that poor minorities can find it hard to get a fair shake in court and wants higher taxes for Oil Companies. Just pointing out that there is an amazing amount of intellectual diversity across the left and the right and sometimes we get into trouble painting everyone on the other side with broad brush strokes.
- chr0nic21, on 08/19/2008, -11/+22Tell em wassup keith...Show em what having balls in the media looks like
- brentinkc, on 08/20/2008, -0/+9***** you, two of my friends died trying to clean that mouth
- inactive, on 08/19/2008, -7/+14Olbermann is a blowhard like O'Reilly, but he at least has the balls to directly criticize those in power most of America views as untouchable (i.e., McCain, Bush, Rove). I can only hope that he continues to do so in an Obama administration. The media needs to be taught that it's okay to criticize our leaders when needed.
- sassip, on 08/19/2008, -3/+10Olbermann does tend to be exuberant, however he doesn't flat out lie...
- sassip, on 08/19/2008, -2/+9Care to elaborate on what you thought was "spin?" Or are you simply spinning?
- ax8284, on 08/19/2008, -8/+14Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh are complete *****?
- xicer, on 08/19/2008, -8/+14I'm an olbermann fan, mostly just because he tends to say what I'm already thinking and isn't afraid to criticize the establishment. While I will admit his guests tend to just turn the show into an echo chamber, I don't really mind because then I don't have to deal with watching pointless yelling matches like on certain competing programs.
- sassip, on 08/19/2008, -2/+8Hey PolishILL-ogic.
Comparing Olbermann to BillO is not quite right. BillO is a terminal liar. Which parts of Olbermann's rant did you think was not factual? - TheInformer, on 08/20/2008, -2/+8Kelly hightailed it out of Vietnam as fast as he could. McCain stayed with his fellow POWs when he could have taken the easy way out.
The two aren't even comparable. - mjbk24, on 08/19/2008, -7/+13Maybe because O'Reilly and Limbaugh are hateful lairs that are puppets for crooked republicans?
- mywhitenoise, on 08/19/2008, -3/+972.
72! - Spektr4, on 08/20/2008, -5/+10When I see Olbermann cut someone's mic when he disagrees with them, I'll be concerned.
- sassip, on 08/19/2008, -7/+12He doesn't flat out lie...
- dinot, on 08/19/2008, -14/+19So? If you're gonna attack the messenger instead of the message, you might as well go all out. As in: John McCain, the "cheated on his wife for a richer, younger woman" guy? Or, John McCain, the "can't tell the difference between Sunni and Shiite" guy? Or how about, John McCain, the "Czechoslovakia still exists" guy?
- StarlessKnight, on 08/19/2008, -1/+6Yes, it is. Hillary and McCain have shown who they really are in how they conducted their campaigns.
- mjbk24, on 08/19/2008, -2/+7What were you watching?
- SSCrow, on 08/19/2008, -3/+8Did you miss the part where he was not speaking kindly in regards to the Obama Campaign?
Its subtle and easy to miss, but hits hard not to come across biased when McCain's Campaign is so pathetic. - infinitydl, on 08/19/2008, -13/+18MSNBC has about a 10% market-share, and seriously, are you going to defend MSNBC but then call Fox news "Fixed News" At least admit that they both have a clear editorial position, separate from their News Gathering arms, but nonetheless well presented as a strong editorial page. NBC is practically an arm of the DNC. (at least of the left fringe thereof, I doubt patriotic democrats like Joe Lieberman, until they kicked him out, are happy with the way MSNBC covers them.
- jroussell, on 08/19/2008, -1/+6olberman has attacked many members of the democratic party. he tends to call things as he sees them, do you remember his rant on Hillary Clinton? Or his rant against Obama for fisa?
and i am assuming you are an educated conservative based on you last comment and not a neotard troll. if my assumption is correct then you must just be as furious as i am at what the current administration has done to our country not only domestically but also internationally. last time i checked conservative does not equal neocon. olberman may be a dick but he is an educated one and he is by no means a partisan hack like you suggested. - inactive, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5thats not change you can believe in. *creepy smile*
- TheKarmaPolice, on 08/20/2008, -0/+4i think Keith Olbermann is the Yahtzee for grown-ups.
except Olbermann is just a wee bit more important ;) - tkr2099, on 08/20/2008, -0/+4@offrdbanditoffrdbandit:
I disagree but I dugg you up for actually taking the time to explain your position - TopherT, on 08/19/2008, -1/+5Liberman, as far as I can tell, has more loyalty to Israel than to the United States of America.
- inactive, on 08/19/2008, -3/+7Bob Costas is five times the sports anchor that Olbermann was and I don't give a crap about his political opinions, either.
- inactive, on 08/19/2008, -1/+5Who cares what Iraq was capable of? It borders Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. We now own the most tactically advantageous piece of real estate in the region. If you think we took it for any other reason you probably also believe we're going to leave all those permanent bases behind and withdraw our forces if a Democrat wins the election. When McCain said we might be there for a hundred years it was the first honest thing that a candidate had said about Iraq since well before the primaries started.
