http://www.buckeyeinstitute.org/acorn.pdf - peacelvr, on 10/14/2008, -5/+21I think if Obama is elected, with a majority Dem House and Senate, all investigations will be halted immediately. He will rule like a dictator and his Pelosi/Reid henchmen will do his bidding with glee.
- dvrchatter, on 10/14/2008, -4/+20You say they "cannot" and, yet, they did. They did so listing both in state and out of state predicate acts.
Reality kind of belies your assertion. - SuperVepr308, on 10/14/2008, -2/+16You might be right, popsrock, but you may be wrong. They have been crossing state lines with this stuff and that screams RICO. Also, I think any DA can use RICO, not just the gov'ment.
- badqat, on 10/14/2008, -3/+17And that, folks, is what you call someone who knows what's up...democrats investigating themselves? Never. Not going to happen. They'll ignore, cast aside, anything...but it won't include justice, action, or representing the interests of the citizens they claim to serve.
- tkstock, on 10/14/2008, -1/+11LOL - good find dvrchatter!! :)
- kuatto, on 10/14/2008, -1/+10pwnt!
- JenniferInMO, on 10/15/2008, -2/+11First of all this is NOT a RICO complaint which can only be brought by a federal prosecutor. It is a private suit brought by a nutbag group who will have the suit dismissed immediately. They don't have the standing to sue under the Ohio act and the complaint reads like a 5th grader wrote it.
Remember, anyone can bring a lawsuit against anyone for any reason, but that means nothing. I could sue one of you for medical malpractice even though you aren't a doctor and have never met me. All I need is a petition/complaint and the filing fee. My suit for medical malpractice against one of you would be dismissed summarily, just like this silliness. - poprocksandsoda, on 10/14/2008, -4/+12The FBI is already in 15+ ACORN offices. They will follow the money. That's the # rule. The Dems are powerless to stop this ... as the Republicans found out in Watergate.
- dvrchatter, on 10/14/2008, -3/+11"As a Republican" I question you saying you're a Republican poprocksandsoda:
http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Judge_GOP_s_vote ... - inactive, on 10/14/2008, -1/+9OOPS!
- blyrehs, on 10/15/2008, -2/+10McCain was a keynote speaker for ACORN - what the hell?
- mrpetey, on 10/14/2008, -3/+10A short list of dumbocrats who have been "investigated"
Rangel, Reid, Pelosi, William Jefferson (Democrat LA), now Mahoney, Frank . . . .
And list could go on.
As much as I hate to say it, this is all a day late and dollar short. If the empty-headed boob (a.k.a. O. Hussien Obama) gets into office - all of this corrupt ties will be swept under the rug and there will not NOTHING we can do.
The time is now to keep him out of office!!! - JenniferInMO, on 10/15/2008, -1/+8It's amazing how "Fitz" as you people so lovingly refer to him is "rumored" to be about ready to do something or other that will PROVE that Obama did something dastardly. Never mind that he would be out of his jurisdiction. Forget that ALL of these rumors have not come to pass.
It is so sad how you just look for every little piece of rumor to justify your hate and bigotry which is fed by the hate radio and Faux Noise that you obviously buy into hook, line and sinker.
You people are being laughed at by everyone, including your own candidate. - MHunt, on 10/14/2008, -14/+20No, when The Chosen One wins, He will stop all ongoing investigations and send dissenters to reeducation camps.. He will rule The Socialist Republic of America for 8 glorious years before he becomes Exalted Ruler of the World.
- gobber, on 10/14/2008, -10/+16I do not hold out to much hope. In Indiana a judge just order that voting stations be immediately open even if voter fraud is a problem.
- Wosat, on 10/14/2008, -2/+8Look at the content of the comment, though. I think he's pulling the equivalent of a seminar call to Rush ("I'm a lifelong Republican, but...").
"As they are putting hundreds of people in jail for fraudulent voter registration, and Obama faces impeachment for funneling 832k through a shell company to ACORN ... we need to stand firm in our resolve."
See what he did there? - desertmaven, on 10/14/2008, -13/+19An Obama aide on the news last night admitted that Obama funneled over $800,000 to Acorn during the primaries. If he knew how corrupt this organization is, why would he use them to get people registered to vote,...unless, launching his career midst Chicago-style politics, he learned quickly that John Kennedy got Illinois to vote his way because the Daley machine did nothing at stopping voter fraud in Cook County, where it was found that thousands of dead people including dozens, sometimes hundreds of names registered to the same bungalow address. As a Democrate from Chicago, I suspect Obama is engaging in similar tacks.
- inactive, on 10/15/2008, -2/+7I thought Republicans were against frivolous lawsuits. Why waste the taxpayers' money and the court's time on an invalid claim? Dismissal in 3... 2... 1...
- tcbishop12, on 10/15/2008, -1/+5Buried. False, Lame, Silly Abuse-of-Process, Malicious Prosecution -- nuisance lawsuit.
Point of clarification: RICO is codified as Chapter 96 of Title 18 of the United States Code, 18 U.S.C. § 1961–1968. It was intended to make it easier to prosecute organized crime figures, but has been applied in several other cases as well.
But the argument noted by some of my friends above -- that these plaintiffs lack standing because the action was not brought by the government -- is incorrect. There is also a provision for private parties to sue. A "person damaged in his business or property" can sue one or more "racketeers." The plaintiff must prove the existence of a "criminal enterprise." The defendant(s) are not the enterprise; in other words, the defendant(s) and the enterprise are not one and the same. There must be one of four specified relationships between the defendant(s) and the enterprise. A civil RICO action, like many lawsuits based on federal law, can be filed in state or federal court.
That having been said, I have reviewed the complaint, and it fails to state a viable cause of action under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. Just because a complaint is filed does not mean that it can be successfully prosecuted. This one will be dismissed on Defendants' demurrer or Rule 12B motion to dismiss. - inactive, on 10/15/2008, -2/+6LOL
Why would Obama resign if a few low paid workers are convicted of falsifying some fake forms?
Not a single fraudulent vote can be cast.
Oh, that's right. You already know that, but are so honorless you'll pretend otherwise.
Obama, as much as you are desperate to paint him as such, isn't involved in the day to day operations of getting voters registered, AGAIN, you know that already.
This is pure propaganda, and you are smart enough to KNOW it.
I don't know why I expect honorable behavior after it's been proven to me so many times that it doesn't exist on the right. - ironhide, on 10/15/2008, -1/+3It warms the cockles of my old heart to see the digg republicans turn on each other.
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -12/+14Wow! The crimes, frauds and lawsuits are certainly piling up against the Obama Campaign associates!
- drshorty, on 10/15/2008, -2/+4What the *****? Ok seriously, time to give you a lesson in reality. Firstly, I call ***** on you saying that kind of crap when from the historical perspective the GOP has been involved and more organized with voter fraud than Dems have been. Secondly, a report that had been done by both republicans and democrats concluded, with agreement from both sides, that the kind of voter registration with fraudulent registers does not equate to fraudulent votes. Thirdly, your own party disagrees on what to think of Obama and prominent republicans are switching sides, and you act as if the liberals are brainwashed. What about your own party? At what point in time will you believe that when your friends disagree with you, your own party's leaders are split about supporting the other guy, and people are putting facts in your face to refute you, do you begin to think to yourself, "Maybe I'M the one who is wrong."
Obama has more bi-partisan and non-partisan support than McCain. The best attack against Obama has nothing to do with his policies or understanding of the issues that matter to the voters, and yet you seem to think that because you can prove he has associations with bad people without linking Obama to the crimes that you sound like you're informed. Well you're informed, too bad it's not what's important. The only thing worse that being ignorant is being informed and not knowing how to apply it appropriately. It's like the kid genius who ended up flipping burgers for a living.
So what if ACORN is trying to steal votes? How does that affect an election if they're being called on it? How does that affect the perception of Obama if he didn't have anything to do with that aspect of their activities? How does Ayers(a man who was FORMERLY a domestic terrorist) and his relationship with Obama affect anybody? And the answer to any reasonable person is, it doesn't. - ozel01, on 10/16/2008, -0/+2Uh honey, it ain't got nothing to do with hate. It's got everything to do with passing info along. I don't have an ounce of hate in my body. I don't hate Obama.
My Opinion: I just think he is a narccisitical egomaniac who has nothing on his agenda other than having ultimate power.
Factual Future Representation: I fully believe he is dangerous for our great nation because he will have unilateral control over Executive and Legislative, and probably in near short order, Judiciary. People were appalled that Henry Paulson was going to have unilateral power to spend $700 Billion dollars but turn a blind eye to Obama having unilateral power to do far more than Paulson could ever do.
My Opinion: In the same breath you turn a blind eye to what really happened over the last eight years, and especially the last two with the democrats controlling congress.
Factual Information: Our economy set positive record after positive record from 2000 until 2006, in every measureable category. Since 2006 the only positive record set was the dow all time high last year. What happened in 2006 that changed the direction our economy headed? The only thing to change was the democrats taking control of congress. In January 2007, the democratically controlled congress passed legislation to raise the minimum wage to $7.25 per hour. I have no problem with raising the minimum wage. However, small business and restaurant lobbyists argued before congress that the raise needed to be offset by tax breaks or the economic growth would stop in its tracks. Congress implemented the raise without offsetting it in tax breaks. Immediately thereafter, unemployment rates that have been pretty much in decline since 2000, leveled off and started to rise. Now they are over 6% and climbing.
But, those are facts that you probably fail to comprehend. No, he who laughs last laughs hardest. If Obama wins, I'll move to Europe and wait until our great land completely collapses. Then I'll come back here and share a very good laugh with you and then you will understand exactly what I mean. - inactive, on 10/15/2008, -1/+3What crimes, frauds, or lawsuits have shown Obama to be guilty of anything?
Now, Sarah Palin, on the other hand, I can point to a SPECIFIC FINDING of illegal, fraudulent activity carried out by her. - stienster, on 10/16/2008, -0/+1tcbishop>>>> I'm just curious: why are you voting for Obama? What is the attraction?
- poprocksandsoda, on 10/14/2008, -16/+16As a Republican, I'm going to use common sense here and say that this is *****. You cannot as an individual file RICO charges. They can only be filed by the Government. Moreover, there are no Interstate Commerce issues at stake here. There's nothing worse than creating propoganda ... Left or Right.
Sit back Right, the Feds will eventually start poking around the top of the Obama Campaign to follow the money (832k). If Obama wins (unlikely), he's have to resign in disgrace. Make no mistake, people are going to jail for this. - rearlgrant, on 10/15/2008, -1/+1"The same tactic was tried in 2004 by some of the same GOP-connected election lawyers -- who were forced to withdraw their suit -- and because ACORN did not even register voters in the Ohio county where the suit was filed on Wednesday, Warren County, according to ACORN officials."

Funny when Rush does it, the Right applauds...
http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/03/22/r ... - inactive, on 10/15/2008, -6/+6SSDE - Same "Stuff," Different Election . . . this is S.O.P. for the left. If they didn't steal elections, they'd no win except in places where the sheep have been brainwashed for generations - massholia, PRNJ in particular.
- inactive, on 10/15/2008, -10/+8And Obama will say he didn't know, call them liars and promise even more tax cuts for the poor who do not pay taxes.
- Dumbledorito, on 10/14/2008, -7/+4Interesting premise, but why not wait to see if the Dems take whatever branches of government before accusing them of behaving like Republicans and keeping their "dear leader" from being properly investigated, hmm?
- dvrchatter, on 10/15/2008, -5/+2LOL - here come the Obamatron bury bots.
- ozel01, on 10/15/2008, -12/+6Rumor here but from the halls of the Federal Office Building in Chicago, Patrick Fitzgerald has launched a 10 state RICO investigation. The rumor came out the same day news hit the screens of ACORN voter fraud in at least 10 states. In another piece, Rezko is allegedly singing like a bird, pointing to the IL State Treasurer, I won't even attempt to slaughter his name, as being installed at the behest for Obama in return for the favor he got from this person's parents on a cut rate price on his FIRST Chicago home, not the mansion he bought through Rezko. Fitz has at least one, and possibly two angles he is working toward Obama.
