- Michiko280, on 06/19/2008, -6/+59I'm in Ohio... I need to sport some Obama gear!!
- alapoet, on 06/19/2008, -6/+47If people are just energized enough to get out and VOTE in November, Obama will take not only Ohio but a few other states that have swung Republican in the last several elections.
Do I think that will happen? Yes, I do. - inactive, on 06/19/2008, -9/+43He can win all fifty, if he just introduce a motion to repeal Bush's war powers.
- aahpandasrun, on 06/19/2008, -5/+28I think that Obama has a lead over McCain in most areas. The difference between now and the 2004 election is that people aren't just voting for the democratic nominee because they hate bush. People are actually excited about Obama and what he can bring to the country. John Kerry didn't have that at all.
- jotate, on 06/19/2008, -7/+25Living in Columbus right now. Gotta come up with a clever slogan that can be shouted at passers by.
Ohamio. Obamio. Ohioma...
...***** McMichicain? - Gemfinder, on 06/19/2008, -4/+18You are heartily encouraged to do so :)
- SheilaNoya, on 06/19/2008, -10/+23I wonder if these recent floods in Ohio will also impact the election. People are starting to realize that America is following the same destructive path that caused the Soviet Union to collapse. We're bankrupting America by spending all of our money on "military solutions" around the world, while ignoring America's infrastructure and letting it fall apart. We can't keep telling American citizens that there is no money available for their needs, while we are paying to rebuild everything Bush blew up in Iraq.
Furthermore, I wonder how many people are even aware that Bush changed the national flood insurance rules. The federal government now pays a much smaller portion of the flood damages and the states have to make up the difference. This is going to be a HUGE financial burdern for Ohio and it's residents. - rhabd0mancer, on 06/19/2008, -0/+11The flooding is in Iowa, but I agree with the rest of your post.
- JohnA, on 06/19/2008, -2/+11Are Diebold voting machines still used in Ohio?
- xanadu2113, on 06/19/2008, -6/+13i'm in cincinnati and have been highly disappointed by our choice in recent elections. its time to make up for it by choosing a great leader, barack obama
- inactive, on 06/19/2008, -0/+6Self, do you like asking yourself questions?
Self: " Why yes, thanks for asking ! " - bunki8, on 06/19/2008, -0/+6New Mexico is another of the red states that may swing to the blue. Florida I fear is lost this election with gay marriage on the ballot - always draws the bible thumpers...
- SheilaNoya, on 06/19/2008, -2/+8OOPS! That's what I get for jumping on the keyboard before I've had my morning cup-o-joe.
Like McCain, I'm old and get easily confused! - TopherT, on 06/19/2008, -2/+7Unfortunately, its no longer possible to win the white house without the consent of a lobbying firm representing another country. He did what he had to, I doubt it will translate to real policy, I just hope he isn't constrained from beating those ***** back under their rock and out of our government.
- Rahodeb, on 06/19/2008, -3/+8Most people don't know where he really stands on the important issues.
- lotus22, on 06/19/2008, -4/+8In Ohio and am voting for Obama.
- oselznick, on 06/19/2008, -2/+6To have seen Obama out there in Quincy Illinois filling sandbags to try to block the rising flood waters, made my heart sing.
To anyone who thinks that was just a photo op, I say this: I believe it was real and photogs have a job to follow him everywhere. He was out there working. He cares about reversing the horrible mistakes the gov't made during and after Katrina.
What a work in progress Obama is -- a great man in the making. - xtal3, on 06/19/2008, -0/+4Dugg because I agree. And I was one of those people in St. Paul on June 3.
- Duositex, on 06/19/2008, -1/+5If he's ignorant, you're a jerk. Seriously what's with the name calling folks? Is it the summer heat? (to all of you living north of the equator)
- Jackson0909, on 06/19/2008, -6/+9Things were also looking "bright" for Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 2004. Don't count your chickens before they're hatched.........
- Groovydoo, on 06/19/2008, -1/+4First off Gore won but things never looked bright for John Kerry
- nirvanix, on 06/19/2008, -2/+5Yes, Ohio has certainly been a boon to the GOP what, with all those rigged voting machines securing a win! Wonder if they'll try it again...
- IphtashuFitz, on 06/19/2008, -0/+3Want some of that Iowa water to help you cool off? ;-)
- virtualball, on 06/19/2008, -2/+5I'm also from Ohio, do what I did, join My Barack Obama. You can plan local meetings for him, or do what I do, make calls.
- inactive, on 06/19/2008, -2/+5Oh nooes, I thought the election was in November! Quick, where do I go vote?
- Muyoso, on 06/19/2008, -1/+3Good thing he has all of those votes tied up among people who cannot vote. And for the ones who can, most won't.
- eltrev, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2Like McStain's stepford wife stealing painkillers to fuel her addiction from a children's hospital, and then avoiding prison by going through rehab?
(and, it's actually true, not a distortion like the repug's attacks)
And btw - it's crystal clear that you are the ***** midget here. - InetRoadkill, on 06/19/2008, -4/+6The margin in Ohio needs to be Diebold proof, say greater than 30%.
- hobbitaussie, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2Very true. I'm just tired of this polling by day and whole articles being written on either side about how their candidate is winning. The fact is that until October it really doesn't matter much.
- Muyoso, on 06/19/2008, -4/+6Highly unlikely. What IS likely to happen is that Obama wins the popular vote, by a LOT, but loses the election. Places like California could vote HUGE for Obama, while McCain will barely win states that Bush won by double digits. He could very possibly have 3-5 million more votes than McCain, but still lose.
- BobMysterioso, on 06/19/2008, -1/+3Hrmm.. that likely isn't what he was looking for.
Thanks for playing though! We'll send your Participation certificate right away. - JHB800, on 06/21/2008, -0/+2Bush at least had executive experience. (being governor of Texas and all) Obama doesn't even have that. He's never held a leadership position in any of his government roles.
- bmullins, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2I agree with you about it being a pretty useless article...
But don't forget that if you are talking about different polls, you can't say he has momentum in any direction, good or bad. The polls are too different. If you have the same exact poll, just retaken later.. then, MAYBE, you can say that.
But I wish we'd all just say '***** polls' anyways. - Tebixan, on 06/19/2008, -1/+3If you're going to credit Ross Perot with the democratic victory, then I'm going to credit Ralph Nader with the republican victory.
Besides, Clinton won more votes in 1996 than Bob Dole & Ross Perot combined. - SFJoe, on 06/19/2008, -2/+4McCain has a serious structural problem. Bush has swung the GOP so far to the right that he has alienated almost all of the centrist/swing vote that McCain needs. McCain has the choice of following the Rove recipe of pandering to the radical right or trying to mollify the centrists that Bush wrote off for 8 years. If McCain can't pull it off, the GOP is in very deep trouble for 8-10 years while they rebuild.
- wynja, on 06/19/2008, -1/+3Until Ohio pulls the electronic voting machines, I'm afraid it's going to remain firmly in GOP control.
- Versh, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2In Ohio and voting for Obama before lotus22 gets to the poles.
Yeah, I'm like that. - morpheus9602, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2We're not dumb. We're awesome!!!
Where are you from? - ZenMojo, on 06/19/2008, -1/+3Even Arizona. McCain says he doesn't expect to win in his own home states (probably because of that 51% disapproval rating he has).
Why are people voting for McCain again? It's like the more you know him as a voter and a fellow Senator, the less you like or trust him. - JHB800, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2His record? The fool doesn't have one. Before he ran for the senate (in a race that was all but handed to him by republican incompetence), Obama was a no-name in Illinois. I've lived here for 12 years, and I had never heard his name before he ran for Senate.
Obama and his campaign would be best served to stay away from the experience aspect, because it will destroy his chances when it comes out that he has none. (a state legislature and a few years in the senate doesn't make him qualified to be president) - inactive, on 06/19/2008, -2/+4TRUE!!!
but,,,,
Kerry was polling the same in Ohio this time in the last election... and Bush won Ohio... and we know, no one was as bad as Bush! - H3avyC, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2You should look in to transferring your registration. A lot of times you'll qualify as a resident if you are attending school there. It's sad to say, but your vote will count for a lot more in Ohio.
- inactive, on 06/19/2008, -2/+4And this time, people arent voting democratic because they hate mccain.
Mccain has been a thorn in Bush's presidency throughout.
And now Obama doesnt want campaign reform... not when it doesnt serve him so.
HMMM
They call him FLIPPER... FLIPPER... Everyone loves the king of the sea... - wynja, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1As an Ohio resident, it is your responsibility to make sure that your state replaces it's Diebold voting machines.
- noobifiggah, on 06/19/2008, -2/+3It's not that the white working class hates Obama. Coming from that class and having many acquaintances in that class, I can tell you that not that many democratic folks actually hate the man. For whatever reason though, most people seem to think he's had no experience and because of that, we'll all be doomed if he gets in office (As if we haven't been ***** already). Coming from Illinois and now living in Ohio, and meeting the man twice, I can tell you he's honest. Experience? Do your homework as a US citizen. Check his record as a senator.
On a personal note, I'd rather give a guy with "less experience" a crack at being president than someone who has had played the game too many years to prioritize morality and the public good. - Duositex, on 06/19/2008, -1/+2Morning cup-o-joe? Clearly you're not in the contiguous 48 United States or Alaska.
- AgainstObama, on 06/19/2008, -2/+3Here is an Obama bumper sticker.
http://www.americansagainstobama.com/wp-content/ga ... - AgainstObama, on 06/19/2008, -2/+3LOL. Obama-bot. That was a photo-op.
- monoa, on 06/19/2008, -1/+2Wouldn't that be a sweet way to start his presidency: the biggest landslide victory in history? Unfortunately, the Rethugs will be gassing up the propaganda machine right now, ready for the gullible to swallow any lie that appears on Fox.
- inactive, on 06/19/2008, -1/+2How many national championships are you guys going to lose in a row? I will say that beating Miami in 2003 was nice, but since then.. nothing but crap. Atleast after an athlete graduates from U of M (few and far between in both places), their degree is respectable.
