Because mainstream America has yet to wake the ***** up. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -8/+53Congress must quickly appeal the president's wartime authorization.
Give men too much authority and they immediately overstep their bounds and practices unrighteous dominion. I cannot think of any civil or governmental position where these people would not already be in jail.
In this case, the agenda was preplanned and the total destruction of US constitutional liberties and freedoms for all Americans is dangerously in peril. - MarkCiccone, on 10/11/2007, -4/+31We have to impeach Cheney. HAVE TO.

Actually, even though that remark is intended to be tongue in cheek, there's a sad truth to it. The problem is that most Americans are simply not interested in the legal complexities of Cheney's blatantly illegal actions or the consequences resulting from it. But a sex scandal gets everyone's attention. That's more interesting, even though it would be largely irrelevant to the quality of government.
The democrats have demonstrated that they still lack a backbone. There is absolutely no justification why Cheney should be allowed to continue his reign of terror on the Constitution and open government. If the dems refuse to bring Cheney to justice, then they are just as much a group of rubber stamp nimrods like their republican counterparts. - look4alec, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12@ dylan & rationalthinker
I hope you guys are joking. Anyone can be wiretapped (thus the "WARRANT-less"). If you recieve calls from outside the country, there is a much better chance.
Have you ever heard of spider tapping? Thats where they tap anyone who you call, anyone who they call, and anyone who those people call as well. That means if a 'terrorist' aka muslim or immigrant orders pizza, then you happen to call that same parlor the next day, your little douchbags anonymous prank call could be considered tappable. I know that doesn't scare you right? Because you arent a terrorist right?
Wrong, with the patriot act they can legally forward any information gathered to federal or local atuhorities, or any appropriate private sector organizations or individuals. What's appropriate? Beats me.
Read the ***** legislation before you just repeat what you're being told by the same people who put this program into place.
Stupid ***** *****, rattling off neo-con speaking points on digg. You should really know better, because if there's anything about digg users, they've done their ***** homework. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+14But, but how can we even think about such petty things as this as long as Paris is out of jail? She's obviously the greater menace according to the number of diggs.
- MutexDeadlocked, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10If you have nothing to hide you shouldn't be afraid, show me your papers sir!
It's this mentality that is leading to the downfall of truly important freedoms and rights. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+14No he'd send Dorothy to Gitmo for a little waterboarding fun.
- kufu91, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8If they are KNOWN TERROR SUSPECTS!!!! wouldn't it be pretty easy to obtain warrants after the wiretapping took place from the FISA court that approves nearly all warrant requests? We bent over backward to give them the power they need to wiretap terrorists and yet still found a way to follow the constitution. So why wouldn't they go through the proper legal channels when they had wiretapped if they were so easy? Maybe they weren't KNOWN TERROR SUSPECTS!!!!. thats not so crazy.
- kRonmaster, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10lol, at least we all agree that Cheney isn't a good person. this is absolutely ridiculous. but, i'm not at all surprised, just look at ALL the retarded, stupid, evil, wrong things this administration has done. actually, that's all they have done.
- allenwrench, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7So few casualties? Typical ugly American comment; 70,000 Iraqi civilian casualties means nothing to you.
Your second assertion ("sooner than later, harder not easier") has no substance to it and basically says nothing. It is also probably untrue, because in a couple years we will have a better president who doesn't start wars on purpose.
Your third (establishing an Iraqi puppet government will spread western friendliness across the Middle East) is simply laughable.
As for your last point a "united country" is more likely to start a war, not less. Remember how "united" we were during our huge lapse in judgment? In case you cannot recall events from six years ago, it was politically incorrect to criticize this war even before it started. When some idiots crushed Dixie Chick CDs in the street with a steamroller it was reported approvingly by conservative tools and bubbleheads all over TV, just days before the war. The only thing that can prevent a war with Iran is an impeachment, specifically, an impeachment of Cheney. And we are becoming a united country, against you twenty-eight-percent retards who seem to sincerely hate the rest of us and wish us to be attacked by terrorists and mired in mistaken wars. - swrostmore, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11Title and description are a little misleading.
Cheney told Justice Department officials that he "disagreed with their objections," their objections being that the program was not legal. The DoJ was responsible for determining the legality of the wiretapping program, and when they contested it's legality, Cheney not only ignored them, but destroyed the career of any individual who pushed back. - Rossoneri22, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Do you really think Cheney would personally go through all this trouble and be under suspicion if his intentions were that sincere? You are the one that needs to wake up, these men are stabbing this country in the back while they tell us to look the other way.
- youareretarded, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7"its classic socialism"

- EndersGame, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9"Because mainstream America has yet to wake the ***** up."
And although there is an impressive amount of people that are aware of the corruptions that are going on, we aren't using our own, infinite capablilties to clue the rest of America in. We could easily start a revolution, our forefathers would have done it years ago. You want somebody like Ron Paul elected? Get his name out there, we could all converge in major cities, thousands and even tens of thousands of people together at once, marching...chanting vote Ron Paul at the top of our lungs. Leaving pamplets and signs everywhere...more people our bound to get the message. And the best part, it would be covered all over the news, giving Ron Paul more air time than any candidate could ever hope for. No this isn't Ron Paul spam, but this is just one of many great examples of how we could shape our own country. Sure it would be a huge inconveniance but to me something like that would easily be worth it. We need to make drastic change, and we need to do a LOT of educating, and right now that requires a revolution. Almost every American citizen, including me is at fault for the sad state this country is in, please wake up and do something about it. - missingdigits, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9Satan could only hope in his wildest dreams to be as Evil as Cheney.
- worldinmyeyes, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Feel free to deny their goal is global government, but you will eat your hat when it happens.
- saintdesy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6If you do a little bit of digging (no pun intended) you would learn that before Clinton testified, he asked what constituted "sexual relations" by the definition of the special investigator. Blowjobs were not included. Although Clinton may have prima facia committed perjury, he never did legally. This is something that is ignored my pretty much everyone.
- allenwrench, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7@generalinterest
"Clinton was impeached for PURGERY. You know the same thing Libby is spending 30 months in jail for."
Libby lied to obstruct justice and impede an investigation into a felony. Clinton lied in a seedy lawsuit filed by Paula Jones and lavishly funded by his enemies as part of a fishing expedition. And as was previously pointed out, it was legally not perjury but he was impeached anyway.
Remember when we saw Clinton testify on national TV for six hours about that stupid case? I remember he predicted it, since his testimony was being videotaped for the benefit of a juror who was out sick. It made its way to TV thanks to an Act of Congress. Accountability to the public becomes really important when Republicans aren't in power. When they are, we get a "war president" who can't be criticized "in a time of war"- i.e. most of his term.
Can you imagine Bush being hauled in front of a court? And videotaped and broadcast on national TV? I can't either. Unlike Clinton, even Bush's POLITICAL ADVISOR is above the law and cannot be forced to testify in front of the goddamn SENATE because of some "executive privilege" ***** that Bush invented to get himself out of a similar bind. And unlike Clinton, this is lying about something that continues to affect all of us, not just Paula Jones. - Synematic, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6That kind of extreme labelling is childish, but they did make really ***** decisions and the Bush administration has been a very very bad one.

Only your bitch ass is cowering in terror over these evil terrorists lurking in the closet to kill you - they don't come to my neighborhood (they better not - me and my homeys got something for them). Terrorists will stop ***** with us when we stop ***** with them. If another country from the eastern hemisphere was over here monkeying around with our internal politics and funding despots, your PUNK ASS would be shouting about how we should take up arms against them. So your "terrorism", in large part is just a matter of perspective. See how Putin handled your monkey boy over talking abut putting that missile defense shield in Russia's back yard? The difference between Putin and the terrorists is that he has a bigger stick to back his indignation up with. - sodade, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5@elioty - Yeah right! Voting ain't gonna wake 'em up...
The sad reality is that a large % of the population actually WANTS a police state in the US. They are convinced that they will be safe because they are white, christian, non-illegal drug users. They are afraid because the MSM shoves scary stories down their throats 24/7 and they are going to sell us all up the river so they can pretend that they are safer under an authoritarian regime. - keefaaron, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6How do we get this guy arrested?
- Synematic, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Dude, if it's such a waste of time, and no one cares what "we" think, why did you bother posting in the first place? Besides, you know this ***** is illegal, and even though it isn't as bad as it seems, our rights are still being trampled on. I believe an insult is necessary here. You fascist cockjuggling thundercunt.

It is the lack of oversight that worries me.
No checks, no balances, no great United States Democracy.

"If (and I know right now it looks like a big if) we can establish a semi-western form of government that is semi-western friendly in Iraq, the rest of the Middle East will follow"
That old chestnut? Next you'll be regurgitating the one about the WMDs being found any day and that Saddam organized 9/11. Are there any other outdated and disproved repugchicken talking points I've missed that you want to parrot out loud?
Get a ***** clue or sign up and go fight your war. - YourDoom123, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5so you make a retarded comment, and people who disagree are supposed to digg you up? the whole purpose of digg is that if you agree with something, you digg it up, if you disagree, you digg it down, and if you still feel like venting, make some sort of comment letting the person know. if you've been banned from the site 4 times, maybe its time you thought about what your saying before saying it.
- allenwrench, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3You don't know how the First Amendment works. You can't be sent to jail for saying something, but that doesn't automatically mean that what you say isn't stupid.
- realyst, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7Okay, and what tha ***** does that have to do with this? Seriously, people who still support the Bush administration completely befuddle me.
I probably should post a nice chunk of literature or spout facts or stats, but I'm certain you wouldn't listen to it anyways. You must have your head either too buried in the sand or too far up your ass to actually intake any information that does not fit your partisan mold.
I don't give a rat's ass if your a republican, democrat, red or blue or purple or ***** plaid, you people are just ignorant *****. The only color I can associate to that is *****-brown.
I know dems who hate Bush, Reps who hate Bush and Co., Libs who hate Bush and Co. and bloody ***** communists who hate Bush and Co.
I wish there was a vaccine against the willfully ignorant masses. - Delphium226, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3@ dylan & rationalthinker (questionable)
Ah, members of the dirty 30%.
Now that you've demonstrated your unquestioning, poodle-like loyalty to Der Fuhrer, when are you signing up for his war? Or are you only brave enough to fight from behind your keyboard? - Trublmakr, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5You can know a terrorist, or you can suspect someone is a terrorist but you cant know/suspect at the same time. US Republican apologists are really good at repeating the stupid talking points of their administration/media - but just so you know, it sounds retarded to from an outsiders perspective. As a Canadian, I have to ask,. If you have a KNOWN terrorist on American soil under government surveilance, why not do everyone a favor and just arrest the guy the same way you would a bank robber. Prove it in court and then put the terrorist to death or behind bars. In Cheney's world, everyone is a potential terrorist, therefore we're all SUSPECTS. Please,. enough with the "known suspects" *****. Be careful when you hear people use language like this,.. very manipulative - and sad,.. and it slowly erodes everyones freedom.

"Why is Cheney still in office?" Because mainstream America has yet to wake the ***** up.
Let's get mainstream America to wake up by getting ready to vote in the upcoming election and encouraging others to vote. A great way to start is to study the information on the candidates and vote in the simulation at http://www.voteonthebook.com. Read about the candidates at wikipedia, watch their videos on YouTube. Read election news on google news. Do whatever you can to make sure you vote and know why you're voting in the 2008 election. - defektiv, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4to the people saying bush is too dumb to have orchestrated any of this.. you may be right, but he's smart enough to know what is going on. and he stood up there every day parroting the scripts they fed him. bush is just as guilty.
- falseflagUSA, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Cheney? I'm shocked.
I'll go you one better: Bush just declared himself US dictator. (by signing HSPD-20) We're now just one "national emergency" away. Don't believe me? Listen to far right-wing talkshow host Michael Savage coming to grips with this horror:

- YourDoom123, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4not just that... notice how not only did he miss the point of what you were saying, but he continues to resort to personal attacks as if they're valid arguments. anyone who disagrees with them is a leftist child, but anyone who agrees with them is brilliant? and this just because they say so. who wants to count fallacies with me?
- bobzibub, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Actually, that is one clever aspect of Cheney/Gonzalez...
They push unconstitutional laws (searches) and make high penalties for anyone spilling the beans. Even generally.
So since nobody spills the beans (except for a couple librarians who didn't discuss specific cases) there is nobody who can challenge these laws in court. This is because to challenge the law, you have to show that your individual constitutional rights are breached by said law. In this regard, they've done an end run around your constitution.
Clever monkeys. Not that clever because they never learned the lessons of the coin-tel-pro scandals. Or maybe they did. Clever evil monkeys, then. - bshock, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Criminals belong in prison.
