- Janinco, on 02/26/2009, -6/+25They are going to silence the opposition using Localism!
- raggsat98, on 02/26/2009, -6/+21That is so true, this way they look innocent.
- supercandy, on 02/26/2009, -6/+20they are seeking for the old swindle, like the way they are secretly back loading socialized - nationalized Health Care.
without a real debate, vote, etc.
just like the effort to remove the rights of a worker a secret ballot, they simply will play the old con game.
exactly the same as Mr. Obama claiming he has banned Lobbyists, then includes several in his Administration.
same old DNC swindle. - PuterPrsn, on 02/26/2009, -6/+11The fight against muzzling free speech is far from over. This just keeps them from re-instituting the OLD wording. It can be "revitalized, reworked, and renewed" in different guise to get to the same end - not allowing the public to choose for themselves who they want to listen to.
- inactive, on 02/27/2009, -1/+5The 10 Commandments are Jewish. And they ARE the cornerstone of Western law. I'm guessing the commandment you liberals hate the most is the one against adultery, followed closely by thou shalt not murder. Liberals have NO moral standards.
- alais, on 02/27/2009, -1/+3Obama push Rush around? laughable.
- inactive, on 02/27/2009, -1/+3Liberals are creepy and arrogant. Liberals hate conservatives. The will post things like snuffing popular conservatives or squelching their opinions and in the same breath plead for the release of the innocence at Gitmo the same detainees that at the very least shot at our troops if not killed. It makes no sense. They hate us their fellow countrymen. They're tough but only with their fellow citizens. Put the Liberals in a dessert fighting against the same Gitmo detainees and they will behave like the translator from Saving Private Ryan.
- gbudavid, on 02/26/2009, -5/+7Dickie Durban Got his Localism Ammendment passed also There will be a Peeing Contest fer shur
- sultanknish, on 02/26/2009, -5/+7The battle isn't over yet, the Fairness Doctrine was the big stick everyone saw coming and was easy enough to dodge, it's the needle we have to worry about
- inactive, on 02/27/2009, -2/+4Tell me, how exactly would America be turned into a Christian theocracy? You think Catholics would allow Protestants to take over, and vice-versa? For that matter, do you think any of the factions of Protestantism would allow any other faction to lead the government? This country is far more likely to be turned into an atheist dictatorship -- like North Korea.
- Apokalyps2547, on 02/28/2009, -0/+1Funny... of the 10 commandments, I can think of only 3 that are illegal (murder, theft, and lying [under oath]). If they're the cornerstone of Western law, where's the other 7?
Fact is, ALL cultures, east or west, commandments or not:
* Punish the random killing of one's peers.
* Punish theft.
* Have rules to protect the integrity of their justice system (like banning perjury).
What does this mean? Law is based on the PRESERVATION OF SOCIETY, not bronze-age superstitions. Civilization cannot exist where people cannot have a reasonable expectation of safety from theives and murderers.
Some questions to answer if you reply:
* Can you name 31 Congressmen who want to re-instate the Fairness Doctrine? (QUOTES and VOTES, not speculation and straw-men)
* Can you name 31 Congressmen who want to turn America into a North Korean-style Atheist dictatorship? (Again, ***** like 'the whole democrat party lulz' won't suffice, let's see RESOLUTIONS pushing to abolish religion, if they exist)
* Can you tell me where in Western law we are required to "Honor the Lord and have no other Gods before Him", or any law that bans "coveting our neighbor's house" etc? - freedomjoe, on 02/27/2009, -3/+4that word of the day toilet paper is really improving your vocabulary, supercandy! good for you! (just for counting: I've got you at 2 "swindles" plus you use it on your profile page - perhaps if you try using the word swindle as adjective, verb, passive verb, and noun you will round out the day and can move on?)
here's to you somehow overcoming your tendency toward jingoistic over-simplifications of complex issues you clearly can't comprehend yet. - novaculus, on 02/27/2009, -4/+4
Apparently you haven't been listening to the many Democrat Congressmen and Senators who have vocally supported the return of the so-called "Fairness Doctrine". Not to mention a boatload of failed liberal wanna-be radio personalities.
But the smarter Democrats realized the misnamed "Fairness Doctrine" had too much bad political baggage, and feared it would be used to attack the relentlessly liberal bias of NPR. They also feared efforts would be made to broaden it to other media, and then MSNBC, CNN, and a whole host of dinosaur media outlets, all of them liberally biased to the core, would be threatened.
So they will simply try to accomplish the same goal of silencing dissent by calling it "Localism" and attacking from a different direction. The tactics of these lying louts is both predictable and despicable
. - inactive, on 02/27/2009, -5/+5I say, please, let Rush and idiots like Coulter continue to talk. Old prejudiced white people are dying out by the droves and Rush and his ilk create more enemies for conservatives than ditto heads.
- anniegirl51, on 02/26/2009, -4/+4I'm a ditto head!
- Apokalyps2547, on 02/26/2009, -9/+7The "Fairness Doctrine" isn't coming back. Almost nobody supports it. There's a more organized movement to turn America into a Christian theocracy than to re-instate the "Fairness Doctrine".
- Apokalyps2547, on 02/27/2009, -3/+1With bills like the 2008 House Resolution 598, calling for “supporting the goals of the Ten Commandments Commission” and making a federal government campaign to urge “obedience to the commands of God”.
It was co-sponsored by 31 members of Congress, more than you can find supporting the "Fairness Doctrine".
I love how Christians think they're somehow under attack by Atheists/Agnostics when Christians are over 3/4ths of the population and Atheists/Agnostics are 16%. Portraying wildly under-represented minorities as ultra-powerful forces of subversion is a hallmark of the right-wing.
