- stonecircle, on 06/11/2009, -0/+10A nonpartisan analysis finds the rich would pay more under Barack Obama's tax plan, and the poor and middle-class would pay less.
Under John McCain's plan, the rich would pay much less than they do now, the poor and middle-class would pay a bit less, and the federal deficit would grow, the study found. - LKnight, on 09/11/2008, -0/+8Something tells me McCain can't actually describe the tax plan his lobbyist-laden staff has put together for him.
- freedomjoe, on 09/11/2008, -0/+8thank god. The philosopher King is here. (oh, dear -- you know the Republicans are going to miss the reference and think I'm talking royalty instead of Plato.) Let's all save money with our Obama Tax Breaks !!!! next year by electing Obama....and also save the planet.
- bluevillage, on 09/11/2008, -0/+5See this instead: his best speech on the economy, regulation etc. March '08 at Cooper Union. I'm posting it separately on digg.

If the dollar is weak, the amount we send overseas for goods and energy drains our economy in favor of somebody else's, which makes both a national security issue... nothing stands alone for Obama
The bad news is, that makes him impossible to describe with sound bite reporting, so only people who take the time to do their own research appreciate how elegant and comprehensive his vision really is. People accustomed to trusting media outlets are almost certain to find McCain "makes sense" because on their one or two pet issues there's a 5-second answer that resonates for them.
Taxes, in particular, are being glossed over in the media. They report "McCain says Obama will raise taxes" and some people stop wondering or thinking. The commerical media are, as a group, mostly abusing the trust of U.S. citizens by emphasizing what the candidates say (either candidate) not what it means to voters in practicall terms. Obama is more transparent, mostly, but reporters (or perhaps it's news producers) have gotten lazy, they think they can cover politics by repeating what the polticians say. Is that NUTS or what?
