- IrvineKinneas50, on 01/27/2008, -17/+221This is the most incredible speech I've seen in a very long time.
- TyroPyro, on 01/27/2008, -5/+152His speeches just keep getting more and more incredible. One thing really hit home for me in this speech, at about 6:20:
"We're up against the conventional thinking that says your ability to lead comes from your longevity in Washington, or proximity to the White House. But we know that real leadership is about candor, and judgment, and the ability to rally American's from all walks of life around a common purpose, a higher purpose."
Everyone knows he has it. His website is struggling to keep up with the flood of donations right now. - fiveness, on 01/27/2008, -5/+129WTF? Did a politician just make my eyes misty? Caroline Kennedy says it best: "I have never had a president who inspired me the way people tell me that my father inspired them. But for the first time, I believe I have found the man who could be that president — not just for me, but for a new generation of Americans."
- augenblick2007, on 01/27/2008, -12/+135I get goosebumps when crows chant "Yes we can!" and I say please do...
GO8AMA for a better world! - justinjstark, on 01/27/2008, -5/+104Amazing. I don't think I have ever been this excited about politics. Obama 08.
- evi1, on 01/27/2008, -9/+108There is hope for this county, 08ama for a better tomorrow.
- trotskyist, on 01/27/2008, -6/+100Yes We Can!
- Ciryon, on 01/27/2008, -7/+99I'm rooting for Ron Paul but I gotta confess that Obama seems VERY honest and sincere. I think that he can reach out to both democrats & republicans and work all your problems out. Good luck America :)
- FireAtWill, on 01/27/2008, -8/+86On behalf of Canada, congratulations!
- JoEBlack982, on 01/27/2008, -5/+82Pretty inspiring.
- zioxide, on 01/27/2008, -7/+81This is the most incredible speech I've seen since Obama's Iowa victory speech.
- jimmyhoffa2222, on 01/27/2008, -4/+68Best speech by Obama yet.
- rbalik, on 01/27/2008, -9/+57lol
- seraphisset, on 01/27/2008, -5/+47Just when I think his speeches can't get any more moving...
- n0t0kayipr0mis3, on 01/27/2008, -6/+47I hope he wins, not for myself only but for all of American, this is a chance we have as a nation to elect a president that will actually bring about change and display a new image to the nation.
"Because I will never forget that the only reason that I'm standing here today is because somebody, somewhere stood up for me when it was risky. Stood up when it was hard. Stood up when it wasn't popular. And because that somebody stoodup, a few more stood up. And then a few thousand stood up. And then a few million stood up. And standing up, with courage and clear purpose, they somehow managed to change the world."
08'AMA - MacSuxWindozSux, on 01/27/2008, -2/+41We Canadians approve of his message.
- cubbiesx, on 01/27/2008, -5/+44For the first time in so long I'm looking at a candidate and actually seeing a LEADER. It feels great.
- TyroPyro, on 01/27/2008, -5/+43You're not the only one
http://www.barackobama.com/index.php has been getting hammered with so many donations, it seems they have had to redirect some of their server power and turn off site sections to keep the donations page up!
I encourage people to chip in, even if you can only do $25 or $30 bucks (or 30.01, if you've watched the video!). The campaign has spent it's money well so far, and February 5th ads are very important to making sure we have real leadership qualities in the democratic nomination (judgment, candor, transparency) instead of the qualities of you-know-who. - vagrantwade, on 01/27/2008, -13/+51I don't know which is Minarchian's comments is more delusional. His comment about "if ron paul wins the nomination" or the part where he says "Obama would be toast against Paul."
Really kid? You base this off what? Obama just got more votes in South Carolina than Paul is likely to get out of all 50. And you honestly think he would even have a chance against him in a national election? Paul may be fanfare in your little internet world. But as the primaries are proving, it is far smaller than the rest of the world. - IrvineKinneas50, on 01/27/2008, -8/+45Are you delusional? I like Ron Paul but I understand that he has no chance at all of winning the nomination, and his idiotic supporters don't help him in the least.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -3/+40**Barack Hussein Obama, spell it right.
He sure is! - ArrowheadAddict, on 01/27/2008, -5/+39You could just feel -- to borrow from Phil Collins -- it in the air tonight. This movement is sweeping the nation. Three words...
Yes We Can! - bivouac, on 01/27/2008, -3/+36As much as I wish he was more fiscally conservative, I know that this country needs this kind of leadership more than it needs anything.
Put this libertarian down for a donation. - CH3CH2OH, on 01/27/2008, -5/+38And if you only have dimes and nickels to give, remember, what America needs now more than ever...is change.
- Snuff99, on 01/27/2008, -2/+35Holy hell that man fires me up! I can't wait to vote on Super Tuesday! ~Yes We CAN!
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -6/+38Incredible. He sounded like John F. Kennedy on that stage tonight.
- zioxide, on 01/27/2008, -3/+34lol... that "schoolchild" graduated from Columbia and Harvard Law magna cum laude. Oh, and he was a professor at the University of Chicago.
- inactive, on 01/27/2008, -4/+35this speech was ***** amazing once everyone stopped cheering after every word and let him get some complete sentences out. the last half was awesome.
- dn11, on 01/27/2008, -2/+33on a totally unimportant note - i have to hand it to his designers, he has the best looking website i've seen amongst the candidates and the coolest logo :)
- MrBlue999, on 01/27/2008, -2/+31I was looking for this video on CNN and they cut a 17 minute speech down to 2 minutes!!!
They left Clinton's speech at 7 min and Edwards at 5. Come on! - lordbeef, on 01/27/2008, -7/+35We're tired of the old Paulitics around here!
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -2/+29"Bots: Anyone who disagrees with me."
- SovereignGFC, on 01/27/2008, -10/+37Wow I am doing quite a bit of bury-block... Stupid Paulbots complain when anyone came into their thread. So you know what? I stayed out of Ron Paul threads out of respect for them (which everyone else gets none of from these wingnuts), and I noticed that criticism of Paul in his threads died down, you don't piss on someone's parade. Now they're spamming the Obama threads and creating lameass words like "Bamabot" to validate their patheticness.
- TyroPyro, on 01/27/2008, -6/+33The hostile and overbearing nature of Ron Paul supporters both on and off the internet is the #1 reason for his poor performance, in my opinion.
- AlienMushroom, on 02/21/2008, -5/+32This is how inspiration is born in the 21st century.
- insane11, on 01/27/2008, -4/+30He's an amazing speaker and the most by far the most inspiring candidate of the bunch.
- TyroPyro, on 01/27/2008, -1/+27Thanks, Canada
- rbalik, on 01/27/2008, -7/+31I don't think you know much about Obama. Ron Paul doesn't have any experience going up against someone who was president of the Harvard Law Review, a professor at the University of Chicago, a civil rights lawyer, spent 6 years in the state senate, 4 years in the US Senate, and written two books. I would love to see that debate.
- inactive, on 01/27/2008, -2/+25After this speech I bet he takes super Tuesday as well. This speech was very electric, you could feel the crowd's excitement while sitting at home. It was very inspiring to see my home state chant "race doesn't matter!!" If anyone was on the fence about Obama or Hillary before, I think he just sealed the deal. Hillary's "victory" speech tonight was boring and untruthful. I really think this guy just might have a chance.
- abburdlen, on 01/27/2008, -1/+23I respect that he's more interested in fixing Americas problems than bashing republicans.
I loath what the current administration has done to the country but being pissed at Bush isn't going to end the war and it isn't going to get the economy going again. - ae2198, on 01/27/2008, -5/+26Yea, Obama will be as worried as much as the rest of Paul's fellow Republican nominees are. Since you're delusional, I'll let you know that means not at all.
Let me know when Paul wins a primary. LOL! - TyroPyro, on 01/27/2008, -1/+22Stop. Spamming. The. Same. Comment.
- TyroPyro, on 01/27/2008, -2/+23Agreed... the background is especially badass
http://www.barackobama.com/images/bg.jpg - dierobots, on 01/27/2008, -1/+21i've been so incredibly jaded about politics, about america, waking up every day wondering what horrible things i'm going to read about
i finally feel like we might have a chance to make things better. don't let us down obama - TyroPyro, on 01/27/2008, -7/+27You are delusional, and you don't even realize you are further pushing people away from Paul. I wish I could live in the parallel universe where Obama would debate against Ron Paul, it would be incredible. Paul can't even hold his own against McCain in the Florida debate - he asked a question and didn't even call McCain out after McCain fumbled it. I would love to see Paul try and defend some of these ( http://dneiwert.blogspot.com/2007/11/ron-pauls-rec ... ) proposed bills of his in front of a national audience.
Tip: Stop posting about Paul in Obama topics if you want to further annoy an alienate people. - Slipkey, on 01/27/2008, -1/+21THEROC - Actually that's not entirely true. From the Newsweek article:
'"What I do is to sit with him for half an hour," Favreau explains. "He talks and I type everything he says. I reshape it, I write. He writes, he reshapes it. That's how we get a
finished product.'
http://www.newsweek.com/id/84756/
I believe he referred to it as being "like Ted Williams batting coach" - economyisland, on 01/27/2008, -5/+25Great stuff.
- inactive, on 01/27/2008, -3/+22“We’re up against decades of bitter partisanship that caused politicians to demonize their opponents instead of coming together to make college affordable or energy cleaner”
WORD Obama. - inactive, on 01/27/2008, -2/+20I'm a rat now?? OK
Why won't you take that bet? - phunlee, on 01/27/2008, -5/+23Can I digg this twice? Just this one time?? That's a good speech.
