However, the sheepskin covering is beginning to rapidly deteriorate and we are now learning who Obama _really_ is. Let this be a great lesson to the left. A great speaker does not by default make him a great person, rather it makes him all the better at deception.
    I sure hope this article gets more than 15 Diggs. I've been trying to get this story on the front page of Digg for a few days now.

He would not be where he is today in this race for president without that fact. He has no accomplishments behind him in the Senate. He is inexperienced and apparently trying to fool his way into the white house. Wonder if he will change the name to Black House... that must be a racist name? I guess he can seek an opinion from his Pastor. He can deny he shares the same ideas as his Pastor does but his wife Michelle said in an interview that she only recently became proud of her country (I guess because her husband was winning?) and that America is a bully around the world.

    How many years have Blacks fought for racial equality and yet every time they get a chance they separate themselves from the rest of America? Black Entertainment Television, Miss Black USA, Black only Schools etc. Why can't they be just Americans like the rest of us? It's sickening already.

    I don't care much for McCain but I will be voting for him. Never a Liberal or Democrat, ever. Did we not learn our lesson from Clinton or Carter? Two of the worst presidents our country has ever had.

      After similar comments were made at a John McCain rally in Cincinnati, Ohio by Bill Cunningham, John McCain respectfully repudiated the comments made:

      Immediately after this respectful comment made by McCain, Cunningham went on Hannity and Colmes and called McCain a "manchurian candidate" and decided to support either Clinton or Nader just to attempt to break the support of Barack Obama.
      It is also interesting to note that in the same sentence, Cunningham says "...at some point, the media will quit taking sides in this thing, and maybe start covering Barack Hussein Obama the same way they cover Bush, the same way they cover Cheney, the same way they cover every Republican." Why use Barack Obamas' full name while only referring to George Bush and Dick Cheney by their last name? Because he is one of the many Rush Limbaugh style Republicans who hope to rally support out of fear. Are the American people not tired of this after eight years of it? Even though I support Barack Obama, I do admire and respect the genuine comments made by John McCain on Bill Cunningham. I hope these two are able to battle it out in the national election, and I hope that all Americans will rally together in support of whomever is elected and persuade him/her to change this country and it's foreign policy for the better; after all, the President of the United States should not be the ruler of it, but the servant of the people, as stated in the Constitution.

          By the way, there are dangerous, scary, violent, and uninformed people living in all countries, whether they have traveled or not. I haven't had the opportunity to travel yet, but I am bilingual and learning a third, I have friends of all races (color is not an adequate descriptor of my friends, since there is such a broad overlapping spectrum) and enjoy learning about other countries and races. And I haven't set foot in Europe.

I don't know who the people commenting on this article are, but I'm sure some of you are Ron Paul supporters who are resolutely standing behind him no matter what. If you actually read what Wright said, the 9/11 remarks are right in line with what Ron Paul has been saying in all of the debates. So if you want to criticize Obama for something in this regard, it should be for disagreeing with his former pastor, not for being close to him.

    Now, the HIV and race comments are remnants of a mostly by-gone era. They're problematic, but understandable considering the United States's not-so-distant problems with race relations. He shouldn't have mentioned the Clintons specifically, but he's just saying that Obama knows what the black community has gone through, and recent race-baiting comments from Bill seem to indicate that he doesn't.

    Regardless, Obama needs to make an strong effort to separate himself from the comments for the good of his election bid.

      Your associations with an individual don't necessarily mean you hold the same beliefs. What is problematic is the fact that Obama stuck with this guy for 20 years, and only during his bid for the presidency has he ever denounced what the pastor has said.

Not to mention, this pastor was the inspiration behind his book and part of his early campaign. He also attended this church for 20 years. He touts being of good judgment and being able to bring people together, yet he surrounds himself by, and only vaguely distances himself from, the people that say these things. I personally feel that he believes the things his pastor is saying, only he's smart enough to know that he certainly can't be elected by saying those things himself. The rhetoric that spills from his mouth is just that, false rhetoric.

    Why else would a man continue to attend a church with messages like these for 20 years? Is that good judgment? No, it's not. And speaks volumes for a man's character.
