- convergent, on 11/22/2008, -17/+202I love how all of the sudden everyone is now an Obama basher.
- MercyPolitics, on 11/22/2008, -36/+141Even so, Obama's choice will not make the progressives and liberals happy, it is a very good strategic move. In the formation of his Cabinet he is following the model of Abraham Lincoln; picking former opponents such as Hillary Clinton. It is a sign that he wants to surround himself with people sharing a different point of view, very smart in my opinion. I would add, in very sharp contrast from Bush, who surrounded himself with incompetent "Yes men".
- ThunderPigs, on 11/22/2008, -47/+138Change we can believe in.

I'm sorry, I don't car how you sugarcoat it, Hillary is still Hillary to me. - partrow, on 11/22/2008, -40/+116What is he smoking?
He campaigned on "change", but his transition team looks like a who's who from the Clinton administration, and his cabinet is shaping up to be Washington insiders. Where's the Change, Obama? - BigDigg55, on 11/22/2008, -16/+83Oh my God thank God you people are not in charge of doing anything more than working at Gamestop or in IT department because all you do is bitch and complain about everything that isn't 100% exactly what you think it should be.
- SchmuckofNI, on 11/22/2008, -51/+117Horrible guys! Don't you see that this further proves that Obama is yet another man of the bankers?
- thetedster180, on 11/22/2008, -16/+81Timothy Geithner was a bailout architect, he should be in jail not the new sec of the treasury.
- Anomaly100, on 11/22/2008, -56/+118IMO, President-elect (I just like saying President Obama) Obama is doing a great job on choosing his cabinet. I wasn't sure about Hilary Clinton at first, but his Lincoln approach makes a great deal of sense to me. I truly appreciate Obama being well read in all that he does. He knows that he'll be scrutinized at every turn.
- mindpuzzle, on 11/22/2008, -30/+90Political Payback - What is CHANGING?
- MeatMountain, on 11/22/2008, -9/+62Hahaha Cramer from Mad Money? You mean the guy with the wacky sound effects board that was telling us all to buy Financials right up until they tanked? KABOOOM SELL SELL SELL
lolololol yeah i trust that guy - pintomp3, on 11/22/2008, -9/+60i think bush was cheney's yes man.
- ericdano, on 11/22/2008, -30/+77Change? All these Washington insiders? And Cramer from Mad Money absolutely hates Geithner. Last night he said he was going to give him a chance, but Geithner has a lot of explaining to do as he seems to be one of the people who have caused this financial mess we are in.
- BedPost, on 11/22/2008, -4/+43Hey now. I've been an Obama basher since FISA.
- 55mph, on 11/22/2008, -23/+62agreed! Geithner got his training under Kissenger. Kissenger, like Cheney, is the devil incarnate.
picking Geithner is another step towards ensuring the corporatocracy remains in power.
As for Hillary, Obama and Hillary's primary disagreement is on foreign policy. secretary of state??
we are doomed. - schnikies79, on 11/22/2008, -17/+55I would prefer people who haven't been in Washington politics.
These are the same schmucks, different year. - rda1441, on 11/22/2008, -48/+85Yeah....Obama's change is bring back the Clinton hacks....
Please come fast 2012. - pcpimpster, on 11/22/2008, -0/+33Welcome to digg.
- groo68, on 11/22/2008, -14/+46What did you expect? change?
- Cglass, on 11/22/2008, -21/+52I don't think it has much to do with replicating the "Lincoln Approach" but rather more to do with the fact that the Clintons are VERY well respected throughout the world, are VERY experienced, and yet she on her own has both the intelligence and tenacity to take charge of this position. It was a great choice, and I'm happy to see her in this position.
- medfreak, on 11/22/2008, -8/+382012? You expect the Republicans to offer something better by then? Just looking at their list is ***** up:

Call me a cynic, but I'd rather have a Clinton in SoS than a Palin in POTUS or, God forbid, a Bush. - roho76, on 11/22/2008, -15/+41I FAIL to see the "CHANGE".
- inactive, on 11/22/2008, -4/+29"He's actually brilliant."
You actually have zero evidence that he is anything but a loudmouth and a phony. - Mujokan, on 11/22/2008, -12/+36I find it funny people post, "Look what he's doing, how do you like him now? You got fooled!" I can't work out what their point is. Obama had a policy platform. Now he is hiring people that can carry it out.
When he picks someone whose history in the job they are entering is diametrically opposed to the policy platform he ran on in that area, I will pay attention.
Until then, I'm happy because I supported Obama mostly on policy. And of course "Change" means change in policy from the Bush era. - onedeep, on 11/22/2008, -5/+28Clinton hacks? You may not have liked him for his personal stupidity while in office, but you absolute cannot say that things were worse when Clinton was in office than the last 8 years. In fact, I think it is pretty easy to say that Clinton's time in office was some of the best for the country in the last 30 years.
- samimnot, on 11/22/2008, -24/+45After reading a few comments in here...I get the feeling some people would prefer if President Obama brought "Joe the Plumber" into his cabinet. NOT ME!
We've had 8 years of "someone you could have a beer with" politicians...and they're leadership has driven the USA backwards 75 years. I could care less if his new cabinet is Republican or Democrat, just as long as they're INTELLIGENT.
I voted to Barack for one reason "after watching his campaign" I could tell he was a great organizer. We're still 2 months away from him being President...and I see him continuing what he's always done. Surround himself with intelligent and politically powerful people that know how to get things done. - fluffyturtle, on 11/22/2008, -6/+26Story after story about cabinet choices and I all I see is sarcastic laden post after post about how this is "change" or how this is just a rehash of the Clinton era or even comments about the banking situation.
What was he supposed to do exactly? You know he still calls the shots right? Just because someone is a banker doesn't mean they shouldn't have a say in something, I mean really *all* bankers are now somehow tied to what is currently going on. Was he supposed to find random people on the street and hire them? Or random digg users, which one exactly was the "right" choice? Because obviously picking experienced people, some of which even have opposing viewpoints, hasn't pleased digg. - Cglass, on 11/22/2008, -8/+28Ok let's break down what you are saying, because you like several people I've seen are making no sense.
#1 if you are talking about me, go look up my digg history and comments, I was going to vote for Hilary, so no I didn't have to rationalize anything.
#2 I really really liked life during the Clinton administration, I did not like it during Bush's. So yes, there isn't going to be CHANGE from the Clintons, but there will be CHANGE from the Republican/Bush Administration...which is what everyone wants.
#3 There is actually change, take a look at all of the work that the Obama transitiion team is putting together, and I applaud nearly all of it, he is doing a fantastic job of lining things up that he can change straight away when he takes office. If you need the site its www.change.gov , I suggest you go check it out. =) - geddon, on 11/22/2008, -2/+22We're CHANGING from Republicans to Democrats.
That's how the Two-Party Republic works. - tsopranos, on 11/22/2008, -8/+28Obama didn't get in because of his great ideas. He got in because of 8 yrs. of Bush. Remember to account for those that could give 2 ***** about the Democrats & Republicans when you try to make sense of things.
- Beautyon, on 11/22/2008, -31/+50Is that cherry or grape flavor Kool Aid you two are drinking there?
- Beautyon, on 11/22/2008, -26/+45You are completely wrong.
Timothy Geithner used to run the Federal Reserve bank of New York.
The Federal Reserve system is what has gotten the entire world into this mess:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=YFXYvVbq_5A
This proves that Obama either does not understand how the Federal Reserve system has destroyed the economy, OR he does understand it and is willfully going along with the banksters.
Either way, this appointment is an unmitigated disaster and a guarantee that the complete economic collapse of america and the total destruction of the value of the dollar is now a certainty. - inactive, on 11/22/2008, -1/+18"Cramer from Mad Money absolutely hates Geithner."
If anything this is good news for Geithner.
Cramer is a clown who hasn't had a good year since 1985. The only people who think his advice is sound are trailer trash with no stake in the game. - inactive, on 11/22/2008, -19/+36Can't wait to see how the HuffPoo spins this.
- homercles337, on 11/22/2008, -22/+38I take it youre too young to remember the prosperity of the country when Clinton was in office? Starting with Reagan every single repug president has been a neocon disaster and horrible for 95% of the country. You guys really have no long term memory do you?
- TheHayze, on 11/22/2008, -9/+25God I hate that term: Washington Insiders: If you work in the Government, and live in the DC areea, and you're NOT an insider, then what good are you? Really? I would prefer someone who knows the game, then an outsider who will take 12 months getting used to the game, and even then, it's a long shot they'd be in a position to understand what's going on. It's time to grow up, and think about what you're saying now.
Furthermore, Cramer says this, and that ALL the time. Yes, he's Cramer, and is a smart guy, but that doesn't mean he's right 110% of the time. Everyone makes mistakes, and everyone has an opinion. If Cramer told you that jumping off a bridge, and killing your self, would make you a 1 million dollars, would you do it? Comon, man.
Some good strategic choices there for President-Elect Obama for his new Cabinet, it's hardly a bad thing to surround one's self with as many potent differing opinions. There is little doubt in my mind that we're going to be taking a 180 here, and start heading, in my opinion, a better direction as a Country. - angryfirelord, on 11/22/2008, -12/+26Yeah, just what we need, another rich guy with ties to the Federal Reserve for Treasury. No wait, Obama does us one better, he PICKS the guys that runs one of the districts! Thanks Obama, I'll let you know how inflation has worked out for us in the next four years.
- jakdracula, on 11/22/2008, -29/+43Change. Yup. Good thing you all voted for 'change'.
- osko2052, on 11/22/2008, -13/+26The problem is I never had faith in Obama to begin with.
- cochonnerie, on 11/22/2008, -10/+23Those of you complaining about not being able to see "change" don't understand politics. You can't just walk into Washington (or anywhere else remotely political) and start stepping on everybody's toes. If Obama is going to succeed in bringing about the "changes" he said he wanted, he's going to have to work with and cooperate with the established political heavyweights that have the power to make or break his administration. It's common sense.
- tsopranos, on 11/22/2008, -3/+15TommyT...
How about working for the inclusion of 3rd party candidates come next election? We don't have a very democratic process in this country don't you agree? This country needs to have more choice when it comes to president-elect.
http://www.opendebates.org/theissue/ - HardSide, on 11/22/2008, -16/+28Hillary for state? He couldve picked somebody else seriously, and whats with Bill Richardson? It looks like he is forming a cabinet of people that he owes them favors for or just friends with them...which all presidents do/did in the past, just not this many.
- Mexrocker, on 11/22/2008, -6/+18It's the internet, get used to it :(
- TheNeptune, on 11/22/2008, -2/+13PURPLE FLAVORING.
- tr909, on 11/22/2008, -3/+14If Obama picked non-established people, this page would be ranting about how he picked inexperienced people like Harriet Myers.
Besides, he's still the boss. If one film director uses the crew that came off another director's movie it doesn't mean the new movie will look like the old. - Jeremyz0r, on 11/22/2008, -1/+12Actually, it's the end of the 'era'. Not the world, dumb-ass. Only the 'mis-translated bible' predicted that and has since been corrected.
- DatVillain83, on 11/22/2008, -13/+23I guess 'change' means 'change' back to the old guard. Good choices, but it's clear that this is just going to be a continuation of the 90s administration working within the framework of a different era in America.
- groo68, on 11/22/2008, -2/+12He really should choose the top minds in the country, from lists of college professors to highly respected professionals. not people who have publicly failed at their jobs in the past.
- adiyo011, on 11/22/2008, -10/+20You guys are never satisfied are you? You're like babies always crying for more. Judge the man by his actions, so far he has no power so let him be. Be critical, and be helpful. He has his own site, voice your opinion there instead of being in here bitching.
- ashes0, on 11/22/2008, -15/+25Ha! Not much of a suprise to those of us who have been telling you this for the past year.
Of course, you always just put your hands over your ears and clicked the bury button
Have fun - dienaked, on 11/22/2008, -9/+18The Secretary of State job is a career finishing job. You retire from active politics after you are done, right?
Hopefully Hillary keeps the spirit alive and just goes on the speaking tour afterwards. It will be nice to be done with her. -
