There is no hope -we have to start opening up offshore, ANWAR, Oil Shale & Nuclear power NOW & also have a crash program on alternatives (Hydrogen, Solar, Wind, Etc.) The Dem's are so much in the pockets of the Environmentalist Wackos they are blocking the repeal of the off-shore drilling ban vote, they are so out of touch.

Speaking of air Obama has so much hot air we could place him in front of a big wind turbine and get enough juice to run most of the country! NOBAMA, please!!! He listens to the special interests groups who have no idea of what it takes to make a modern society such as ours survive. The trouble is he may be the next president of our country. In today's media driven culture who worships "stars or high profile celebrities" he might garner enough votes from an uneducated electorate and others who want to bring about the downfall of the USA and turn us into another "Cuba", or old "USSR".
Hey Obama, come down out of the clouds, people have real problems paying for high priced energy. Supply of energy must be increased to help to lower prices, along with alternative fuels solutions. The solution will include drilling off shore and other areas likely to have oil production. We must wean ourselves from foreign sources of oil as the Middle East is too much of a Powder Keg to rely on for oil in future. I am still laughing at the remark about "inflating tires" to solve our energy crisis. - Barbary, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1NObama is sniffing the wind and already cautiously changing his mind: "Do not want to be rigid...perhaps we could cautiously, respectfully (oh, oh,... the ENVIRONMENT, folks), responsibly try a little drilling...if we consider all the other options (and after we all have tuned-up our cars and inflated our tires, of course, and do not forget driving at 55m/h). Who wants a President like that? He would be far worse than Jimmy Carter.

My husband & I are lucky if we make $25,000/yr and he wants me to get a tune up on my car? He must be out of his mind!!!! I usually have to pick between buying groceries or buying gas!
- jesusis1, on 08/02/2008, -0/+0Off shore? How about the oil in the shale we have here in this country? As I understand this, there is enough oil in the shale that could tell OPEC to go fly a kite. Shell oil has developed a way to get that oil, and do it in a manner that is ecologically friendly. The EPA and the liberal fairies are the only reason we haven't gone after that oil.
