Religion is a personal choice, it shouldn't be even considered when electing an official unless it directly affects their policies beyond what their character would have already. I find it insane that in America you may as well not run for office if you aren't a devout Protestant. What I said includes Atheism, I don't have a problem with Atheists being elected, but it's just as asinine to vote for someone because they're an Atheist as it is to vote for someone because they are any other religion.
