- magicjohnson, on 06/01/2008, -12/+358The ignorance of our country.
- haentz, on 06/01/2008, -12/+333The really sad thing is, that they have to set up such polls. Like it mattered...
- SheilaNoya, on 06/01/2008, -9/+240An "Internet Poll" ???
You mean the same kind of polls that claimed 110% of America was going to vote for Ron Paul? - JD52, on 06/01/2008, -50/+259People speak about Christianity as if it is somehow better than the Muslin religion. I'm concerned that any elected official is dim enough to believe in the myth, fantasy, and fallacy of "any" religion.
- inactive, on 06/01/2008, -19/+195***** POLL SUCKS!
- scairborn, on 06/02/2008, -6/+1631.) Like it even ***** matters if he's muslim.
2.) You ***** that say that "he went to a "madrassa!", and "madrassas" are where you learn radical muslim teachings... I am a trained Arabic Linguist in the US Military and Madrassa means school. Plain and simple. (I blame Steve Ducey for the dumbing of america) I mean ***** man! You people need to grow up!
3.) Remember why most of our pudish protestant asses came to the new world in the first place? Separation of Church and State.
You people will drive me to the the F.S.M. before this election is over. - inactive, on 06/01/2008, -7/+159People, now, you can't say he's a muslim and comes from an angry black christian church all at once!
Once this hits front page, that poll is going to be lopsided. hee hee. - joeyjj, on 06/01/2008, -10/+137From the article you're commenting on, the purpose of which is to dispel the ***** you're pushing with that comment:
'CNN has tracked down the school in question, the Basuki School in Jakarta, which a deputy headmaster described as a "public school" with no particular religious agenda. "In our daily lives, we try to respect religion, but we don't give preferential treatment," he told CNN. A classmate of Obama's described the school as "general," with students of many religious backgrounds attending. Obama entered the school at the age of 8 and attended for two years.'
He attended a public school with no official religious affiliation, not a Muslim prayer school. - daRoach, on 06/01/2008, -4/+129I'm surprised nobody's brought up that 57 + 37+ 10= 104
- PolarBearCa, on 06/01/2008, -10/+89As a child, I went to Vacation Bible School and sang songs about Jesus, and attended Christian churches with my family, all of whom would now call themselves Christians of varying levels of faith.
I long ago realized the foolishness of the whole thing and since then have observed a Buddhist philosophy largely overshadowed by secular humanist beliefs and agnosticism.
By your A+B=C evidence, I am secretly a fundamentalist Christian.
Since you are incapable of seeing anything outside your narrow, prejudiced view this will obviously fall on deaf ears - but in the end, you're still an idiot. - kevman459, on 06/01/2008, -21/+95I'd say this is a "sad" statistic, but just thinking he's Muslim isn't necessarily a bad thing, except when someone uses his purported religion as a justification for not voting for him.
- inactive, on 06/01/2008, -8/+80"No matter how much you deny it he was raised part of his life as a Muslim."
So ***** what? Oppose Obama for a real reason. His policies are what's important, not where he went to elementary school. - brad3378, on 06/02/2008, -1/+62After all that Reverend Wright ***** isn't it obvious that Obama is not a Muslim?
This tabloid ***** shouldn't even be in the news.
How about talking about his policies instead? - MasterThief117, on 06/02/2008, -3/+60Even if Obama was a practising Muslim, does it matter? Will it make him any less of a person, let alone future president? Does any one even know anything about this religion other than the ***** the media spew? It is the ignorance that people have of this religion that make people think this is a bad, evil religion. Sure there are factions within this religion that are violent, but as with every other religion.
People need to stop being ***** retarded. - baylat, on 06/02/2008, -7/+63What is this? Innocent until proven Muslim?
- akifbayram, on 06/02/2008, -0/+46We have to correct this or else it'll create a hole in the fabric of space and time!
57+37+10=104! - Mewchu11, on 06/02/2008, -4/+43WE'LL POLL IT LIVE!
- crazyjake, on 06/01/2008, -6/+45i am really hoping that is sarcasm!!!
- BlueSkyfish, on 06/02/2008, -1/+39Imagine the ***** if he were scientologist.
- po43292, on 06/02/2008, -0/+36And these people also stress the HUSSEIN part of his name also. ***** ignorance.
- BobTheTaco, on 06/02/2008, -0/+35Does it really truely matter?
I hate how so much of our country is ignorant... - Diderotten, on 06/02/2008, -1/+33That would mean he's not even rational enough to consider for president.
- JD52, on 06/01/2008, -8/+39"Muslim"
- mateo60, on 06/02/2008, -0/+31My mom asked me the other day if he was a Muslim. It's a shame that it really matters whether or not he is one or not. I explained the truth to her though. She got one of those emails, and of course spread it to her friends. It's amazing how well that email campaign spread.
- inactive, on 06/01/2008, -2/+33"He has a Muslim portion of his background."
No one has denied that. The point is: that doesn't matter to anyone but the ***** insane right wing. And you nuts weren't going to vote for a centrist anyway. - crazyjake, on 06/01/2008, -4/+34well... look at the people who took the poll.
if education.level < 5th grade
obama.religion =muslim
skills.math =void
else
obama.religion =christian
skills.math =average
election.issues.religion =null
end - Terr01, on 06/01/2008, -1/+29Amen. Online polls are generally worthless for all political questions.
Unfortunately, it seems some people don't quite get the idea of a "representative population", or "random sampling" or "response bias". - inactive, on 06/02/2008, -1/+29Separation of church and state.
- Terr01, on 06/01/2008, -3/+31http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp
The real cherry picking is not mentioning he also spent two years in a Catholic school.
Myself, I spent ten years in a Lutheran school in southeast Asia, and let me tell you it was a bit more secular than some public schools in the USA! - inactive, on 06/01/2008, -9/+36"this submission is about whether or not he was a Muslim"
No, it's about how dumbasses like you THINK he's a Muslim.
Somehow, I'm not surprised that you didn't understand that. - pintomp3, on 06/02/2008, -0/+27also: no religious test for office.
- NightVortez, on 06/02/2008, -1/+27***** you Frank?
- inactive, on 06/02/2008, -3/+28I agree with the first part of your statement but not the second. Religion is a personal choice, it shouldn't be even considered when electing an official unless it directly affects their policies beyond what their character would have already. I find it insane that in America you may as well not run for office if you aren't a devout Protestant. What I said includes Atheism, I don't have a problem with Atheists being elected, but it's just as asinine to vote for someone because they're an Atheist as it is to vote for someone because they are any other religion.
- inactive, on 06/02/2008, -1/+26No one denies that Obama has been in Indonesia and he went to school there. Are you mental?
I still don't understand what is "leftist" about Senator Obama. I found out that he supports the right of labor to unionize. That was leftist about a 150 years ago. He's far to the right of THIS leftist. - inactive, on 06/02/2008, -6/+29I don't care who you are, but are you going to show any sort of plan by Senator Obama to nationalize an industry? Or ANYTHING that is more left than supporting unions?
Or are you just another right wing liar on Digg? - LegalizeGanja, on 06/02/2008, -0/+22You don't think it's sad that people listen to lies more than the truth... that's sad in itself because I feel like it's been said enough times in the media that he's Christian for people to have to be retarded not to know that yet. I mean, look how big the Reverend Wright controversy was. During that period I'd have to imagine it was repeated many thousands of times on American news channels.
- JoeVet, on 06/02/2008, -2/+2357% of Americans are idiots, 37% are intelligent, and the rest can't be bothered with current events.
- Mejari, on 06/02/2008, -0/+21The problem is, the people who are so ignorant they can't be bothered to look up the mountains of evidence against that statement are also the ones most likely to not vote for someone because of it.
- Murdats, on 06/02/2008, -4/+25You know you are on the wrong side of an argument when jimmy is backing you up.
its like being endorsed by the KKK - omgTHEPATRIOTS, on 06/01/2008, -11/+31typical Stevanoski crap, buried.
i'll still laugh at losers like you even if it turns out Obama secretly is a Muslim. Jew, Christian, Muslim, Zoroaster, Buddhist, who gives a ***** - mockupscaledown, on 06/02/2008, -2/+22Exactly. I'm curious as to what people's nightmare scenario is with him. He's a Muslim, and he infiltrates the presidency so that he can enforce Islamic rule on America and align with Al Qaeda, and the 100% non-Muslim house and senate will stand by and throw their hands in the air like "whaaaa?" Right. He's just been a patriotic Christian, with corresponding voting record, all this time to trick us!
- dognose, on 06/02/2008, -0/+20The NYTimes on the matter. They very well might be responsible for upping the percentage who think he's Muslim.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/01/opinion/01pubed. ... - publiclurker, on 06/01/2008, -1/+21I think you'd be surprised what can come from the "Hard working, blue collar" mind.
- ironhide, on 06/02/2008, -6/+26Heh...Stevanoski, if you're gotta rely on Spaz for backup you're screwed. He's the only person on Digg more screwed up than you are.
- dafragsta, on 06/02/2008, -1/+20No, it's ignorance. Don't put the cart before the horse. You have to have one before you get the other.
- inactive, on 06/02/2008, -0/+17That question is designed to mislead.
- Nougat, on 06/02/2008, -0/+16Imagine the campaign coffers.
- inactive, on 06/02/2008, -0/+15Muslin is a fabric.
