- consperic, on 09/06/2008, -12/+365Why is it up to Obama to point this stuff out. Isn't it the news organizations job to report this kind of info? When someone makes a claim that can be fact checked, the news should be all over that. And when the assertion is wrong? That's the stuff we really want to know.
- Siraris, on 09/06/2008, -13/+172They do think that we're stupid, that's the whole point. That's why they don't want Palin on the news circuit, and they continually tell the lies that they do about Obama and themselves. Are we supposed to believe that if Mitt Romney, or Joe Lieberman were picked for VP, they wouldn't be on every Sunday morning news show they could get on?
The funniest thing is, is that many people who are supporting McCain, ARE stupid. They are stupid because they don't look into the facts, and they blindly support. There was a quote of a woman who was polled about Palin the other day, where she said the loved her because "She's a mom, and a huge reformer". This woman didn't look into the truth, she just believed them based on their lies. That's the only campaign that the Republicans know how to run. - ROMMExL, on 09/06/2008, -15/+124You all know how Republicans cherry pick what Obama says... Next thing they are gonna say is: "Obama thinks America is stupid!"
- JoeVet, on 09/06/2008, -1/+96News organizations do not fact check anymore, they only parrot what the candidates say. If you want fact checking you have to go to the comedy channel. How sad is that, America?
- lopla, on 09/06/2008, -3/+78And ruin McCain/Palin, the best Reality TV show to hit in a decade??!!!
- mcarrera, on 09/06/2008, -18/+87McCain, a shame we can believe in.
- edgefield, on 09/06/2008, -13/+80I'm very glad to hear Obama speaking out about the lies perpetuated by McCain/Palin and the right wing media. They say one thing but do another. Reformists? Liars!
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -14/+77This is golden. There is so much political garbage associated with Palin and McCain. It's awesome to see Obama call them out on it.
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -18/+71Objection your honor. Irrelevant.
- Echota, on 01/05/2009, -12/+57FTA:"I know the governor of Alaska has been saying she's change, and that's great," Obama said. "She's a skillful politician. But, you know, when you've been taking all these earmarks when it's convenient, and then suddenly you're the champion anti-earmark person, that's not change. Come on! I mean, words mean something, you can't just make stuff up."
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080906/ap_on_el_pr/ob ...
Palins been doing extremely well making stuff up. Call her out on her lies because the media isn't going to!
Obama/Biden 08! - lockettowl, on 09/06/2008, -6/+47Exactly. They talk about how Obama is all words with no specifics. However, in his acceptance speech he gave a laundry list of how he will address issues that impact regular Americans on a daily basis. It was the Republicans who used their convention to give empty oratory, useless biography, and cheep shots and avoided taking on in a significant way issues like the environment, the economy, education, housing, jobs, and the like.
And the American people fell for it, hook, line, and sinker.
If there's one thing we can learn from this election, it's that the politics of hate and fear work. - inactive, on 09/07/2008, -6/+38McCain thinks you are stupid;)
- Rippleeffect, on 09/07/2008, -18/+49If Obama says he's for change himself, why does he have so many earmarks as well?
- bicyclethief, on 09/07/2008, -0/+27News organizations would rather just play the instigator between two opposing sides, build up the drama and conflict-- than to search out the truth and inform the public.
Instead of being one of the pillars of a healthy democracy, news has become just another form of entertainment. Tragic. - badqat, on 09/07/2008, -11/+38Hey now, don't point out the fact that Obama's wife got a killer job, and then he got an earmark of $1 million for her employer...or that Obama had $740 million in earmarks...
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/14/us/politics/14ca ... - inactive, on 09/07/2008, -5/+30even though i disagree with the republicans on digg, i do respect them for one thing;
they're a lot smarter than the conservatives elsewhere on the internet.
on a lot of other sites, you see a lot more of "OMG OBAMA RIMES WITH OSAMA THAT MEASNS HES A TERORIT," or, my personal favorite which was something like this;
"i m gonna be voting for mccain cuz GOD told me too nd obama is a muslum and we r at war with them"
so kudos to you guys. we may disagree, but we disagree for intelligent reasons. - Dustee, on 09/06/2008, -0/+25The news organization is about ratings. Nothing more nothing less. The more confusion they can keep up...the better their ratings.
- pintomp3, on 09/07/2008, -0/+25are you kidding? the republicans have preemptively set up a shield. you've got the vet and you've got the woman. if the media dares to point out a lie: "wahhhhh. you are unfairly attacking us, big bad liberal media". tim russert was the last person to call mccain out. god rest his soul.

- DTJunkie07, on 09/07/2008, -10/+33I love digging you down Vex. Who is with me?
- duggdowncatisad, on 09/07/2008, -10/+30It's good to see the Democrats grow some balls for once.
- aliengoods, on 09/07/2008, -1/+21Since when has Obama been on an anti-earmark crusade? It's the hypocrisy, morons.
- homercles337, on 09/07/2008, -2/+22Someone didnt RTFA. The "anti-earmark group" is McCain/Palin. Obama has never come out against them.
- langdonalger, on 09/07/2008, -4/+24both bills that mccain later opposed after writing them.
- Wakkyweed, on 09/07/2008, -3/+22Yes, having Sarah Palin as V.P. is change. Of course, electing a striped-ass baboon as president would be change as well. Neither of those are the kind of change I'm looking for, however.
- inactive, on 09/07/2008, -11/+29For a list of his earmark requests:
http://tinyurl.com/yrjmuk
I believe, he has outdone Palin. - marike, on 09/07/2008, -4/+21That's the scariest part of this election when you realize that so many people for whatever reason, either don't read the newspaper, or read a tabloid style newspaper. That gives the TV and cable news a huge responsibility to inform voters, and since networks are ultimately businesses with bottom-lines, it makes it almost impossible for them to opt in favor of entertainment over truth.
And it's hard for me to say, after two Bush victories, that voters are smarter than people think.
I glad Barack called McCain/Palin on this "reformer", "we work for you, not the media" drivel that we've been hearing. - ClosedCaption, on 09/07/2008, -0/+17Change is no earmarks? I'm sorry but only one candidate has railed against earmarks and put his VP pick name on the list a few times and thats John McCain. You would have a point if Barack said change meant no earmarks.
- trakie, on 09/06/2008, -2/+19this isnt about name calling or stereotyping, this is about the facts and showing them to america so they can be educated enough to vote for themselves and not based on some figurehead on tv who they believe without questioning.
name calling stopped being cool in the 5th grade, so please leave it there. - TheZorch, on 09/07/2008, -16/+32You're a right wing Republican troll. Your kind aren't welcome here.
- teddtech, on 09/07/2008, -11/+25Palin is a non-issue. Obama fought the Clintons and won. Hillary supporters aren't dumb enough to follow Palin. McCain's gamble was a bad one and will backfire on him. Obama 08.
- Americanwhiner, on 09/07/2008, -0/+14I registered voters today outside a grocery store. It was 104 degrees. It was easy to classify their financial/social status. Some were polite and thanked us. Some wouldn't answer and waved us on when we asked if they were registered at their current address. Mostly, people looked tired and despaired over the state of our country. Some just said, "It doesn't matter any more." A few enthusiastically spoke of changing the country and starting anew. The funniest was a woman who registered as a Republican. She was a veteran. Her entire family was Democrat and now, due to Palin she said she'd be casting her vote for Obama/Biden. The woman didn't want her family to know she'd "crossed over" because of the many heated interchanges that had gone down in the past. It was a great conversation. We both liked each other. As she left , her eyes twinkled, as she leaned in and whispered, "Obama '08." Made my day. I thought the Dems on this site could use a happy story from someone who is out volunteering in the trenches. Don't forget to volunteer!
- qxrt, on 09/07/2008, -15/+28Because he knows his supporters have a one-track-mind and will ignore everything that seems to be a blemish on his shiny "change" image...as demonstrated by comments on Digg.
- JoeMondo, on 09/07/2008, -2/+15Obama isn't opposed to well purposed earmarks.
Palin said she's opposed to earmarks, but lied.
Can't quite get the difference, huh? - peheimbach, on 09/06/2008, -3/+15Hey Farkis --
Just because Rush Limbaugh and Jimmy Dobson told you that Democrats are all kinds of hip on anything that smacks of a handout doesn't mean it's true. (If anything, I haven't heard a word from either I can count on.)
What we ARE into -- see Obama's Acceptance Speech for the most recent example -- is PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.
You want something from your country, you DO your BEST for for our country -- and if you absolutely CAN'T, THEN we'll gladly help you out. That's not only American, but more necessary than ever, given the slowly decreasing role the church is playing in society.
FWIW, it's pretty demonstrably Republicans -- who abuse 95% or more of the country to fatten the other 5% (putting it mildly) -- who CREATE the need for welfare and what you call "free" government healthcare. And who, by cutting staff at agencies designed to determined need, create conditions ripe for the abuses we so often see. - peace1970, on 09/06/2008, -5/+17This is great, someone has to call the liers out for what they are...the media sure as heck aren't...disappointing...
- ImagineFreedom, on 09/06/2008, -3/+15On the contrary, I think it is high time that the Democrats finally call out the inconsistencies of their opponents instead of rolling over like cowed dogs. Arrogance is determined by the manner in which you say something, not what's said.
- inactive, on 09/07/2008, -9/+21"And your party, the Democrats, were in charge since at least 1933. "
Interesting. Since American has seen explosive economic growth and become by far the most powerful world in the country since then, sounds like the Democrats are on to something. - siszam, on 09/07/2008, -9/+21Unreg, You shouldn't have to be told that earmarks for a hospital and earmarks for a bridge to nowhere and a useless sports center are very different things. A hospital is something that serves the people and improves lives.
- kingUssop, on 09/07/2008, -8/+20Sarah Palin is the queen of pigs. Her pork barrel spending HUGELY undermines John McCain's message.
- inactive, on 09/07/2008, -3/+15He's repeatedly violated McCain-Feingold
- Rippleeffect, on 09/07/2008, -16/+28See, that's the main problem with Digg. You'll only accept Liberal Left views as valid, and bury anything that you oppose, just because it might be right wing.
