- smotpoker, on 02/29/2008, -31/+230Smoking is a total non-issue and has nothing whatsoever to do with eligibility for the position at hand
- leprix, on 02/29/2008, -13/+169am i the only one who never knew he smoked in the first place?
- LeadOffMan, on 02/29/2008, -6/+99looks like he'll be gaining some weight, and getting grouchy
- BOFH2, on 02/29/2008, -13/+99I was not a heavy smoker at all 1 pack/week and I found it hard to quit. I quit because the woman(now my lovely wife) said she would not date anyone who smoked.
- hoffey, on 02/29/2008, -18/+101Once again, another stupid Obama article that is completely irrelevant to anything, ever.
Where are the articles about the Patriot Act? Thought Crime Act? NAFTA? TTC? NAU? IRS? FED? - TheWorm, on 02/29/2008, -6/+87The things we do in the name of poon.
- MyDiggIsBig, on 02/29/2008, -4/+73This Just In: Obama took his dog for a walk.
- ncairns, on 02/29/2008, -26/+89This is the largest effect Ron Paul has had - spawning a pool of zealots who think they're informed.
It's annoying, but fortunately nothing more than that. - peterzuni, on 02/29/2008, -40/+94I so freaking want a President that smokes.
- gypsi, on 02/29/2008, -7/+43maybe someday, you'll get some
- SeventhSon, on 02/29/2008, -10/+43I'm not an Obama supporter, and whether or not someone smokes has nothing to do with presidential ability, but I think that his quitting shows a lot of character. The man just went up a few points in my book.
- solistus, on 02/29/2008, -4/+37His stupid stance on the war on drugs? He thinks it's a public health issue and we should stop nonviolent drug arrests. What is stupid about this?
- N3tw0rk, on 02/29/2008, -7/+36Man, it must be hard keeping your cool on the campaign trail, craving that nicotine. I'm glad he's held it together so far.
- mateo60, on 02/29/2008, -4/+32There is nothing wrong with wanting to be a better person because of someone you love dearly.
- neognostic, on 02/29/2008, -10/+35They are making a whine from sour grapes. BTW - I voted for Obama last night in the Texas primaries
Obama '08! - danielpyle, on 02/29/2008, -7/+31Good....I thought maybe he would go to cigars...but you remember what happened to the last Democrat with cigars in the oval office....lol...now if we vote for him we get a reformed smoker
good God almighty . - Thumper13, on 02/29/2008, -4/+26Like the Pop culture belief that Obama voters are morons that don't read?
You're an idiot.
Republican for Obama '08! - Indyanna, on 02/29/2008, -4/+26.Interesting... *thinking, thinking*... bloating, moodiness...y'know... if the pitch of his voice goes up a bit because he's no longer smoking, why, he'll end up just like Hillary! They'll be even harder to tell apart! Well, almost. He'll still look better in a pantsuit than she does.
- mtg1287, on 02/29/2008, -0/+21running for president of the united states. college student. Kinda makes me feel like an ass for smoking because of stress
- Ribbed4U, on 02/29/2008, -2/+23You're right, this isn't MySpace. Now follow your own advice.
- inactive, on 02/29/2008, -10/+30BREAKING NEWS: Obama wipes his ass with toilet paper
ALERT THE MEDIA! ATTENTION DIGGERS! THIS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS! - Dundasbro, on 02/29/2008, -2/+22Wow, such anger over one little topic.
- bethlagarrison, on 02/29/2008, -10/+29I like the fact that the Ron Paul followers have mostly disappeared, leaving a few behind that can't gang up and digg everyone else down.
Although honestly - if I'd wasted hundreds of dollars on someone who turned out to be a joke candidate, I'd probably still be sticking around too. - Nougat, on 02/29/2008, -2/+21You should vote for who you want to win. The only vote that's thrown away is the one that's not cast.
- ComeOutSwingin, on 02/29/2008, -1/+19Smokers are immoral?
- spyd3rweb, on 02/29/2008, -2/+19Washington grew pot.
- shreyans, on 02/29/2008, -5/+22***** the RIAA.
- inactive, on 02/29/2008, -2/+18Of course..... anyone who dares disagree must be a (Socialist/Facist/Nazi/Liberal). Better get moving, I hear Hannity is keeping a seat warm for ya, next to the embers.
- Brad324, on 02/29/2008, -1/+16greatest replies, ever.
- artwork, on 02/29/2008, -2/+17Huh?
- smotpoker, on 02/29/2008, -7/+22Nah, he's saving the good ***** for inaugural celebration ;)
- smotpoker, on 02/29/2008, -0/+14When did this turn into a discussion about you? Ultimatum statement was regarding grandparent post.
Non-smokers don't have to hang out where they aren't wanted either, such as right here right now and neither do smokers have to put up with the fascism, ridicule or snotty attitudes from people who disapprove of their personal choices that they intend to keep FOR GOOD. - scaaven2, on 02/29/2008, -1/+13BBQ?
- ItzCooLz, on 02/29/2008, -1/+13how funny that all these people are (unknowingly) bashing obama too...
"His wife, Michelle, had used his smoking as leverage when the two were discussing whether he should run for president. She would agree only if Obama agreed to give up smoking." - jcroweall7, on 02/29/2008, -0/+12What!? Where!? And for how long?! Is this indicative of his foreign policy initiatives? It's a flip flop on health care, I say!
- smotpoker, on 02/29/2008, -2/+14...Are you for real? Do you honestly think that smoking/nicotine addiction would lead to bias regarding tobacco [advertising] legislation? Are you pushing to make tobacco illegal or what?
I'm not sure where you're coming from (or maybe I do and just find it hard to believe) - num3thod, on 02/29/2008, -1/+13We call that "pussy-whipped".
- smotpoker, on 02/29/2008, -3/+15...to the witness chair just before pleading the fifth?
- tgc1, on 02/29/2008, -1/+13How this has anything to do with his candidacy is beyond me. What's next, Obama eats wheaties for breakfast? Common, what kind of ***** is this. Could you imagine being interviewed for a job where they hired you based on irrelevant points like this? Oh, you eat wheaties? I guess you're the right guy to run this company. I mean WTF.
- SRSco, on 02/29/2008, -0/+12The following presidents all enjoyed at least one form of tobacco (snuff, chew, cigars, pipes, cigarettes):
FDR, Harding, Taft, LBJ, Coolidge, Nixon, Ford, Adams, Taylor, McKinley, Grant, Harrison, TR, Carter, Clinton, JFK - Ajajadude, on 02/29/2008, -2/+13Are you comparing smoking to religious fanaticism?
- strangewill, on 02/29/2008, -5/+16"I can't love you if you smoke"
Awesome man, thats deep. - dbz253, on 02/29/2008, -0/+10if it were clinton smoking, she would find some way to turn it into a victimization thing
- Coven, on 02/29/2008, -2/+11ba-zing!
- inactive, on 02/29/2008, -5/+14You can't "Ron Paul" your way out of this one!
- whereiseljefe, on 02/29/2008, -4/+13My friend tell me other day I quit smoking cold turkey. Whatever makes you happy, what are you smoking now, ham?
- inactive, on 02/29/2008, -0/+9who cares?
- smotpoker, on 02/29/2008, -5/+14"The only way to quit smoking and to STAY quit is to make smoking COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE" - It is not up to you or anyone to decide what is and isn't unacceptable for someone else. No matter what the intent it is wrong to try to force someone into something they do not wish, just as it is wrong to cave into such force simply because they are hassling you or have something you want. No one should ever sacrifice their integrity just to appease someone else
"but you are always just one cigarette away from smoking full blast again"
Every time I've quit it has taken quite a bit more than one cigarette to get me hooked again. I realize It's not true for everyone but I think depending on how long you've quit, the harder it is to get re-addicted. I've never quit more than a few months but every time it took like half a pack or more to get used to smoking again
Ultimatum/threats/force are the wrong way to get anything accomplished except maybe in some imminent danger scenarios or something - sg7791, on 02/29/2008, -0/+9No no no. Zealots are Protoss units. Only Zergs can spawn pools of stuff.
- jake8689, on 02/29/2008, -0/+8no they had slaves do it for them
