Businesses needs profit in order to expand, give raises, benefits, hire new employees not more taxes and govt intervention. Anybody who works for somebody will be affected by this. Taxes are the reason why so many businesses left the country. What I see is Mr. Obama's plan would stifle the economy to a real state of depression. Time to get a govt job to have a regular paycheck with benefits and retirement. JMO

I make a heck of a lot less and not only donated more money, but work with 3 non-profit organizations and donate lots of perfect clothes, paintings, computers and other items to those in need. I also volunteer my design services, collect money and more. Hey Obama, I can a;so prove I was born in the US! Let us see a real birth certificate and your medical records. This is a very dangerous man. What about backing the pro Muslim Kenya government that is slaughtering non-muslims. Stop this man in the election booth... his beliefs will destroy America.

I see... so, it works this way...
I worked hard in high school to get good grades, didn't smoke pot or snort coke or knock up some girl, then...
I go to college, get a useful degree, worked hard, no drugs, my parents helped me with college through their hard work (btw, the immigrated to the U.S. in their early 20s from Cuba to escape communism and totalitarianism) and I work part-time and summers, and I graduate with honors, then...
I get a good job, pay taxes, save up for a house, save for my retirement, donate $s to my church and local community, buy used cars, ....
and Obama wants to take more of my money to "...make sure that everybody that is behind (me), that they have a chance for success too. I think that when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."
And those "behind me", would those be the people who goofed off in high school, were "cool", did drugs, got knocked up, didn't "need" college, buy Escalades with 20" rims, go to Vegas every other weekend?...

This desire to live in order is the only reason mankind agrees to be governed at all. Last time I checked, inalienable rights were life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness/property. Our next President should be protecting our right to keep the "property" we work hard for instead of making plans to disperse it among those people don't. I agree that The American dream is something everyone should be able to achieve, but it is not something that should be handed out. It is something that needs to be worked hard for. Our next president should be someone who believes in the principles of democracy our country was founded on, those inalienable rights on which we base our Constitution, and last time I checked redistribution of wealth isn't one of them.

I'm tired of fighting with people like many of you who refuse to listen.
For one welfare is meant to keep people just BARELY afloat in order for them to gain a job. Also, our country is also mainly socialist anyway, so why not just call it like it is? Instead of calling it this weird quasi-capitalism even though capitalism is the evil that has caused such a high unemployment rate. As profits fall or the failed stock market, people cut jobs to ensure net profits. What did you expect from such a system where you always need to be growing?
Also, punish your success? They're not going to be taking anymore than what's being taken out now more likely, less. Also, some people can't 'pull themselves up by their bootstraps' as many many people decry due to societal and cultural means. The American Dream only applies to those who buy into the idea of an Anglo-Saxon American ideal with Euro centric values and morals. Let me put it simply in another way, being a white man all my life I will gain more wealth over my life than a white women, blacks, latinos and asians. I will also pay less in taxes and commodoties. I will have better access to goods and services as well as top tier education. My black counterpart will have to FLY rather than my WALK and will have to completely exceed expectations rather than be mediocre. Lets be honest, if Obama and McCains lives were switched and Obama graduated 5 from the bottom in his class you would never hear of him. Instead he had to generally exceed past his color and his counterpart, John McCain. So, when you say everyone can attain the American Dream you are sorely wrong and these people are failures because of their willingness to work, no they are failures of a political and economic system that has marginalized blacks to the ghetto's of urban areas. So, I would agree with those if there was a fair chance for everyone to attain the Dream via hard work and dedication when in reality that is not true. Obama's plan as I have read is to help those who can't help themselves because of the system. It's to jump start their ability to relocate, find better jobs, and give them hope to be able to feed their kids everyday to clothe them and try to send them to good schools to get a proper education. Land of morals? Hah, you people only show selfishness and greed, borderline on xenophobia.
