- RavagesOfTime, on 12/01/2008, -16/+151If you were expecting him to shutdown the Defense Department, and appoint Dennis Kucinich the new Secretary of Hugs, Flowers, and Cute Little Bunnies, get off digg, a go find someone to smack you in the head.
- Dinsdale77, on 12/01/2008, -11/+126You mean he didn't appoint Bill Ayers? This must be so shocking to at least several idiots.
- Obsidian743, on 12/01/2008, -31/+132I guess "change" comes with a lot of the same old faces.
- BillE3, on 12/01/2008, -17/+93Looks like it will be a combination of Clinton and Bush administrations; that is real change I can believe in. :)
- SQLserver, on 12/01/2008, -18/+87It seems to me a lot of people in this thread are of the opinion that Obama will suddenly ditch all of his plans because he didn't chaotically re-hire most of Washington...
These people have the experience, and quite frankly, they are the best people for the jobs... This is not an indicator of whether Obama wills stick to his plans or not, but rather an indicator that he knows what he's doing. - NathanCH, on 12/01/2008, -17/+83Why would Obama select people with experience? That doesn't make any sense. Shouldn't he choose washington outsiders with zero experience? Sarah Palin seems like a good choice.

Obama is the voice for change, not the people who surround him. - darkism, on 12/01/2008, -17/+77The change is competence.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -5/+54Well at least we know Hil is able to dodge gun fire / big ol S
- awtripp, on 12/01/2008, -22/+66It's change in the respect that he's not surrounding himself with a bunch of "yes men." The variety (as much as politicians allow for) in thought process and viewpoints should lead to many good discussions and execution of ideas.
- mareln72, on 12/01/2008, -19/+60whoopie the ole gang is back in town.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -8/+46You're all idiots.
- masamunecyrus, on 12/01/2008, -3/+34The Bush or Clinton families have been in the White House my entire life. Are we a ***** monarchy?
- Aadain, on 12/01/2008, -1/+27I'll wait for the actual change, you know, in policies and general direction of the government. If Obama can truly control this team of veterans, he can really get ***** done, which gives him the chance to implement his policies. Now that is the real change he has wanted to bring to DC. Who cares if its someone new or a 20 year DC veteran getting a new policy pushed through Congress? The veteran will probably get the job done quicker and easier anyway.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -10/+36Ron Paul as Secretary of the Treasury was a "Change" I was "Hoping" to "Believe" in.
- Aadain, on 12/01/2008, -4/+27Thank you! I hate all these trolls who think change == new people. Yes, some new people will help bring new ideas to the table, but its the policies that the administration pushes that will be the real change. This was always what he talked about. Affordable health care, better foreign policies, tax cuts for the middle class, etc. These are not people, but policies.
- statrick, on 12/01/2008, -10/+33the illusion of choice isn't so convincing these days.
- darkism, on 12/01/2008, -2/+24Thank god, common sense.
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 12/01/2008, -5/+25Heaven forbid Obama pick anyone who knows what they're doing for his cabinet!
There's been a common theme in his picks, each one is a good manager and knows how to get stuff done. Obama is the one in charge, he's said time and again, both publicly and privately, that he'll listen to your opinions and then make up his mind and it may not go along with what you think, but you better get it done. You can't get jack ***** done unless you have people who know how to do it and that is exactly who Obama is picking. - petebot, on 12/01/2008, -1/+21Agreed. We should have Samuel L. Jackson as the Secretary of Bad Ass *****.
- FreddieD, on 12/01/2008, -2/+20These same people are going to be doubly shocked when they find out he doesn't swear in with one hand on the Qur'an on Jan 20.
- awtripp, on 12/01/2008, -4/+22No *****. But, compared to G.W. Bush, it's a HUGE change. I mean, a president who is articulate and when he speaks you actually feel involved and connected to what he's saying. Yeah, I'm skeptical but I'm also hopeful that good things will happen.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -4/+21I've always believed that if Master Yoda was real and he became our President, Earth would be a better place to live in.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -6/+22It would be way cooler if he only picked black guys for his entire cabinet
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -1/+17Good sir, there is a reply button. Please employ its use.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -5/+20Looks like some of his staff is going to be people who have a difference of opinion, that's pretty smart. His decisions will be challenged from people who have some different view points, that never really happened under the Bush administration (when it should have).
He made an ok choice with the Secretary of Defense. As much as I wanted Al Gore as Secretary of State, it will be interesting to see what Clinton accomplishes.
I'm hoping he picks Ron Paul for Secretary of Treasury and Al Gore for Secretary of Energy, we would be in good shape with them. - wacked, on 12/01/2008, -1/+15Like there was ever going to be peace there within the next 4 years... try 10, 50, a 100, or maybe only after they've all killed each other.
- awtripp, on 12/01/2008, -13/+26better than surround himself with a bunch of yes-men. Obama has his own ideas, he doesn't need people just saying yes, he wants REAL input from a variety of different people. He wants to involve people from all viewpoints.
Look, we can be cynical all we want, but the election has come and gone and the rest has yet to happen. So, let's see what happens before we armchair quarterback the future that has yet to happen. - ifruit, on 12/01/2008, -0/+13Who could of thought that Hillary Clinton would have more war stories than John McCain?
- petebot, on 12/01/2008, -0/+12Yoda! You seek Yoda!
- Homerr, on 12/01/2008, -0/+11Those of you that think Obama was going to appoint some lefty/pinko/Islamic extremist/commie group for his national security team should question the truth of your media outlets.
- jj101, on 12/01/2008, -3/+14Such as? Oh and reasons why they're unsavoury would be nice too.
- rpieszak, on 12/01/2008, -1/+12In order for him to accomplish what he wants to, he'll need Republican support. This is the first step to that. It's a smart strategic move.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -6/+17He's not going to appoint someone who is easy going for such a high level position. Hillary has already proven that she can hold her own in tough times.
Despite not liking her at a personal level, she is a decent choice for Sec of State. She'll get ***** done. - BoSuu, on 12/01/2008, -5/+16If you honestly thought that was going to happen you "have a dream" that will never happen.
- xsecretfiles, on 12/01/2008, -24/+34"To succeed, we must pursue a new strategy that skillfully uses, balances, and integrates all elements of American power"
Where the ***** is the NEW strategy exactly??? When you have the same old ***** re-elected!!! - inactive, on 12/01/2008, -4/+13Now if only the Clinton's can find a way to take out the President, VP, Speaker of the House and Senate President Pro Tem, Hillary can become President.
- joshuapfarina, on 12/01/2008, -0/+9That isn't what conflict of interest means.
- strangewill, on 12/01/2008, -3/+12So you want him to select a bunch of nobodies?
You'd complain just as much that they have no background, aren't qualified, etc. - xsecretfiles, on 12/01/2008, -9/+18Meet your new president. Just the same as the old president
- cjnkns, on 12/01/2008, -7/+16darkism - *hits nail on head*
- SemiSarcastic, on 12/01/2008, -2/+11See...this why most people wouldn't be good in politics.
- mjbk24, on 12/01/2008, -1/+10Dear Arizona,
We Apologize you've had McCain as your representation for millions of years...
Sincerely,
America - aadyss, on 12/01/2008, -0/+8Remains to be seen. A lot of things going on with much more to come. Only time will tell.
Being an articulate person hardly means that person will govern well and being connected is up to the individual. I do not feel connected to Obama at all but that doesn't mean he will be a mediocre or poor president. - aadyss, on 12/01/2008, -1/+9So what? I could care less whether Bush is inarticulate or Obama is articulate. How does Obama govern...that's what matters. We all will have to wait and see. Some people are giving him an A+ already. He will govern for four years that begins on January 20th. Why don't we wait until then to begin grading his performance?
- dronf23, on 12/01/2008, -0/+8Clinton has been in AIPACs pocket for quite a while. Her opinions regarding the Palestinians are so neocon she might as well be Cheney or Lieberman.
- azhura, on 12/01/2008, -0/+8Thank god for someone who understands that there were not many job candidates to pick from that had both experience and would do a good job. Obama did the best that he could with what was available. He could have picked someone "fresh and new!!" but we really don't have the time in this current state of economy, etc. to provide hands-on training.
- xGORDOx, on 12/01/2008, -12/+20In March of 2008 the Obama camp made the claim that Hillary was a "foriegn policy phony"
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/03/ ... - rpieszak, on 12/01/2008, -3/+11The change we wanted was who's in his cabinet??
No, the change we wanted was policy, philosophy, strategy, prosperity. Who's making this change happen is irrelevant, as long as it's happening. - centerblack, on 12/01/2008, -2/+10IMO the best solutions come from intelligent debate, and intelligent debate occurs when 2+ intelligent people who (initially) disagree argue with each other with the intention of coming to favorable conclusion.Hopefully that's what happens.
It doesn't make sense to make a bunch of people who agree with you on everything your advisors. Obama KNOWS what he thinks. He needs conflicting viewpoints so that he can make the best decisions.
That doesn't mean this couldn't go horribly wrong, but he's not even President yet so lets hold off on all the cabinet-hate for a few more weeks. - Jektal, on 12/01/2008, -0/+8Hah, I wonder how all the vehement anti-Obama Hilary supporters feel now that their anti-christ has extended the olive branch to their defeated champion and given her an influential job.
