- alexology, on 02/24/2008, -1/+119oh cry me a ***** river Hillary. The mailers are factually accurate.
1.) Hillary's plan mandates that everyone buy health insurance or face garnishment of your paycheck - she has admitted that time and time again. I'm sure that will go over real well for people who can barely keep up with their mortgage payments
2.) She has voted time and time again to extend NAFTA, as well as hailing NAFTA as a great accomplishment under Bill - now faced with getting votes from people who's job were given away under that agreement
just give it up - Shady77, on 02/24/2008, -0/+85A level-headed, factual response to Hillary's histrionics - very presidential.
- dsmyre, on 02/24/2008, -3/+86She does this sort of thing periodically, when she's feeling down. Suddenly the claws come out.
- mbot565, on 02/24/2008, -2/+63She does this aaaalll the time since New Hampshire. It just depends what her mood is, we'll see either the playing victim trick, the I'm nice trick and plenty of the I'm shrill tricks. I'm used to it now, it's okay for her to attack and throw her opponents attacks, but cry foul when her attack rebutted.
Her split personality thing is getting wierder and wierder, but not surprising. Come to think of it, Obama should consider her tricks as blessings in disguise. She's a great practice for the general election, if he could overcome whatever she throws at him the Republican has nothing on him, cause Clinton has done all the work for them.
Don't know what we'll see tomorrow... - captoftheworld, on 02/24/2008, -0/+58I don't agree with everything the man says but he is a very honest and well-spoken man.
I respect that. - inactive, on 02/24/2008, -0/+51Obama my man just keep your cool. Hilary will be her own downfall.
- horizonsonfire, on 02/24/2008, -2/+41I expect I'll get dugg down into oblivion for this, but I feel a bit bad for Hillary. She's probably been planning this presidential run for who knows how long, and she's up against a phenomenon in Barack Obama. Obama's campaign has become more than a campaign.. it's a cultural movement at this point. Hillary knows that if Barack beats her in this primary, he'll likely win the election, which means she won't have another shot to run until 2016. By then she will probably be irrelevant. In any other election cycle, she would be a good candidate, but she's up against a once-in-a-generation man in Obama.
- Subriot, on 02/24/2008, -2/+38Fox News? *sigh*
- Mjv21, on 02/24/2008, -0/+36I live in Canada, and for the first time...I'm truly jealous that all you Americans have the opportunity to have a man like this run your country. Hillary Clinton seems as slimy and two faced as they come. The woman actually sends shivers down my spine, and if she were to win the nomination, I would wonder how many of her policies would change to better fit whatever strategy she would have to come up with to beat McCain. Flat out she's in it to win and will stop at nothing to do so. Its becoming painfully obvious.
Obama's response to her ridiculous accusations was brilliant, from tone to content. He was calm, collected, sincere, and most importantly, accurate.
Obama 08! - olik, on 02/24/2008, -0/+33"Scolding," perfect. She came off like an angry mother trying to discipline a child (or father if you want to be gender neutral). In either case, she acted like she had some innate moral authority over him.
- thestaton, on 02/24/2008, -1/+33Less we forget she attacked Obama during a nationally televised debate, accusing him of plagiarism. Obama sends out fliers to voters like almost all politicians due, showing the differences between them. Then she wants to go ape *****, and act like she's scolding a bunch of children. Please Texas & Ohio do what's right, eat your vitamins, say your prayers, and most importantly vote for Obama. I really can't take seeing this irrational being on television or in the news any more.
- echolyean, on 02/24/2008, -1/+31In a lot of places (especially in the early states), many people had the following thought process: "Here are the candidates. Let's see. Don't know this person. Don't know this person. Yada yada yada... looking down the list. Oh, Hillary Clinton. Well I don't know much about her. But she was the first lady for eight years. Good a choice as any, I suppose. CHECK."
- TheUserFactor, on 02/24/2008, -1/+31The tune at Fox has changed to anti-Obama, pro-Clinton. It's funny watching her tread water now while the super-delegates jump ship two at a time. Almost as funny as watching limousine-and-caviar democrat Senator Hillary Clinton from New York trying to connect with the average voter with ham-handed sloganeering about "solutions" and "readiness". She hasn't been anywhere without armed escorts in nearly 20 years. Yeah, she's ready all right...ready to enjoy the benefits of being connected for yet a few more years.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 02/24/2008, -4/+32Seriously. I used to feel bad for her when Bill cheated on her. Now I can see why. I almost feel like voting for her just so Bill can mac on some more white house interns.
But I definitely don't want that bitch running the country. - Devaney, on 02/24/2008, -2/+26There is no way this guy could ever lose to Hillary, can someone please tell me how she has 1,250 delegates?!
- pustudent, on 02/24/2008, -0/+23And the Oscar goes to Hillary Clinton for her role in "Shame on You," in which she arrogantly berates her equal. Talk about deceptive campaign tactics! A few weeks ago, Barack Obama was too docile to go against the Republican machine. Now he is a master of the Karl Rovean brand of swiftboating? Nice try Hillary!
- pintomp3, on 02/24/2008, -0/+22i almost choked when i heard hillary describe obama's flyers as "right out of karl rove's playbook". if anyone is using it, it's the clinton's. they even seem to be adding new chapters to it.
- jhuckabee, on 02/24/2008, -1/+23Hillary's campaign has turned into a train wreck that you can't help but stare in bewilderment at. She's so pathetic.
- ADVIZR, on 02/24/2008, -2/+24Ha @ the number of mindless comments on that Fox News site. The Republicans pretending to be for Clinton and bashing Obama are pretty comical. Seeing Clinton win would be a republican dream come true. Classic stuff.
- Renian, on 02/24/2008, -0/+22Dugg for truth.
- nickolausj, on 02/24/2008, -1/+23Her desperation is showing. This kind of nonsense is typical of the Clintons.
- noahgelman, on 02/24/2008, -1/+20Did anyone notice this guy sounded dumb in his comment?
- Renian, on 02/24/2008, -0/+18It's fine. This was the same broadcast that was on CNN. But this way we are raising Fox's bandwidth charges, not CNN's.
- OceanDog, on 02/24/2008, -2/+20Yet another persona of HRC... Mark Penn must have poll tested the "claws coming out" version of Hillary and thinks it'll play really well to voters. On Thursday his poll testing told her to be warm and fuzzy. Good grief, will the real Hillary please stand up? Oh wait, Penn will have to poll all of her personas for her to decide which one to be!
- manicallday, on 02/24/2008, -2/+19I think that people need to know about the Clinton's and Nafta. In fact, Nafta was one of the reasons Gore lost in 2000 and one of the reasons I left the party. I remember Clinton calling Democracy Now, the night before the 2000 elections, and getting pissed off at Amy Goodman when she started drilling him on it. Further, the Clintons are the reason for mandatory minimums. I can't see how someone, who's a lawyer and for the people, support mandatory guidelines. That's when I lost all support for them.
- RedViper1999, on 02/24/2008, -0/+14Barack supported all those claims with sources in that mailer. She just can't handle the truth.
- gldfshnpcklejar, on 02/24/2008, -0/+14His calm voice clearly shows he is keeping his cool. Can't wait to see what he does as president...
- Langford, on 02/24/2008, -0/+14I was surprise that a response to an accusation could make me like a candidate more. It's just unimaginable.
- inactive, on 02/24/2008, -0/+12Mandatory minimum sentences maybe? Those are sentencing guidelines that tie judges' hands and force them sentence certain classes of felons to lengthy sentences. They're ***** not only because they do nothing to reduce crime, but also because they've forced courts to devise all manner of ingenious methods to averting them. It's not that courts enjoy letting people off easy, but that prisons are already so overcrowded that it makes little sense to give street corner drug dealers the kind of sentences we ordinarily reserve for the most violent offenders. In a lot of cases now, even if it's clear that the defendant is guilty of a class x felony, if it's drug-related the judge will just find them guilty of the lesser class 2 or 3 felony (typically possession w/o intent to distribute) and let them off easy.
- wowsah156, on 02/24/2008, -0/+12We have to make sure that when Obama gets the nomination, that Clinton is NOT his running mate for vice president. We cant have that incest family continuing to have a foothold in the white house. Its not good for a healthy democracy. Get John Edwards has Obamas running mate.
- theballdredge, on 02/24/2008, -3/+15at 60, its very likely menopause has started, and likely finished.
- bbsstones, on 02/24/2008, -1/+13warning: rickroll
- Anzat, on 02/24/2008, -0/+12Obama ALWAYS keeps his cool. That's one of the best things about him.
- consonance, on 02/24/2008, -0/+11Unfortunately for Hillary, the truth hurts. Then again, it wouldn't be so painful if she hadn't been so dishonest in the first place.
- themonkman, on 02/24/2008, -0/+10Hillary was actually the one crying over this. Obama kept his cool quite well under the circumstances. Tell us why you think Obama is such a horrible candidate.
- robuk24, on 02/24/2008, -0/+10"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win."
-- Mahatma Gandhi - OrangeCrush, on 02/24/2008, -0/+10In the opening rumbles of this whole election, a lot of people assumed it was going to be Hillary vs. Giulliani, something of a knock down drag out fight, but she'd ultimately win and be our president. I think her own campaign felt this way too--this sense of inevitability permeated her whole campaign. Clinton 2.0 would fix the mess made by Bush 2.0.
Lots of people reasonably assumed she could just walk into the Democratic nomination. She had no real competition--Edwards was a repeat, Kucinich? Love the guy, but really, no chance in hell, and some guy nobody's really heard of . . . Iraq Osama or something. No competition.
But all of a sudden . . . this young newbie . . . practically a nobody . . . starts getting attention. Now she's gotta put some effort into this primary which should've been nothing more than a formality. Her message of "Remember the Clinton years? Compare those to the Bush years. Let's go back to Clinton, k?" would've been more than enough if this other guy would just shut up and stop making rousing speeches about hope and turning the page and throwing out the 'old guard' in Washington.
I'll bet she's furious. I'll bet she said or at least thought "This is *my* nomination. Barrack needs to SHUT THE ***** UP and go away so I can focus my attention on attacking republicans."
She wound up pitted against a social movement. And you can't win against a social movement by attacking it. You have to embrace it, make it even more inclusive, and win the crowd by inspiring them even more than your competition. Wagging your finger and scolding people just makes you look more like the shrill bitch everyone suspected you really were. - barkus, on 02/24/2008, -0/+9Clinton seems quite desperate to land a deathblow on Obama. Problem for her is Obama's not giving her much to work with. Her scolding about the flyers is so damn weak and hypocritcal.
- tabularosa, on 02/24/2008, -0/+9Because I watched the entire event on C-SPAN, I was going to post a more extensive comment on ~sHillary's~ demeanor @ the Black State of the Union today, but after visiting the makebate Faux News website for the 1st time ever, I believe that taking a shower is a more exigent concern @ this time.
When Rupert Murdoch held a campaign fund raiser for ~sHillary~ last year, I was lugubrious to the max, & she automatically lost my vote.
Feelin' great about Obama in -08! - inactive, on 02/24/2008, -0/+9I think you mistakenly used the word Obama where you meant Hilary.
- nickolausj, on 02/24/2008, -0/+8Hey, stupid question but could you explain mandatory minimums? Please and thanks.
- theballdredge, on 02/24/2008, -0/+8short of feeding the troll, what exactly is so awful about him?
- cannonballtrane, on 02/24/2008, -0/+8English you speak??!?
- manicallday, on 02/24/2008, -0/+8Sure. It refers to mandatory sentencing guidelines. So there's a mandatory minimum sentence length for certain crimes. Bill Clinton, while in office, started a commission to create these guidelines. The problem is the law isn't black and white and every case has its own set of circumstances. These guidelines effectively removes a judge's ability to use commonsense. This is important because discretion is especially important in the federal forum, because the guilty rate is so high. The result of Bill Clinton's brilliance, is largest growth of the prison industrial complex in U.S. history. I know Hillary isn't Bill, but I really have trouble separating them.
- Jay123, on 02/24/2008, -0/+8I think we're all Billaried out.
- bobdigi, on 02/24/2008, -0/+8haha that made me chuckle. Also, you are an idiot.
- notahappycamper, on 02/24/2008, -1/+9affordable health care for all!
- cambob76, on 02/24/2008, -0/+7Can't click the link or Digg this story. Fox News might think I like them and it's simply not true.
- lopla, on 02/24/2008, -0/+7Yes this petty attacking by Hillary is a big turnoff, but the biggest turnoff for me is her constantly joking about Bill cheating on her and her 'getting through the tough times' har har laugh laugh. This lady is a nut.
- AntidoteSqrd, on 02/24/2008, -0/+7Really though, will you ever find a candidate that meets all your expectations?
