I don't see anything different in what the Bush crew did to Clinton when compared to what the Clinton crew has been doing to Obama. You forget that Hillary has also already tried to imply that Obama was a muslim. They are using the same ***** anti-american slander than Clinton himself was subjected to and when the Obama camp calls them out, its going too far? ***** that and ***** the Clinton's scorched earth anti-democratic party tactics.
- NameTry2468, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1I agree 100% with your last sentence, but I just think it's a little bit of an imprudent overreach. I mean, I'll still stand by the fact that Samantha Power was absolutely right when she called Hillary a monster, but it would've been suicide if the Obama campaign had put out a memo or press release in defense of her. The link between the Clintons and McCarthy are just barely supportable, not because they aren't doing it, but because the Clintons, when they have engaged in the practice of smearing his patriotism, have been extremely careful and calculating in choosing their words such that they just barely make hints, rather than look like they're "flat out" stating something. I think it would've been smarter for the official Obama campaign to stay silent on the issue and let the surrogate answer for his claim. All that's needed is to get the -suggestion- that there is a parallel, and the media is already taking care of that. I think it was bad strategy on the campaign's part to do a full press release on it.

I'm a staunch Obama supporter, and I'll defend the fact that he's been running a fair campaign throughout, but this...this is some serious overreach. They should've just let the McCarthy thing fade out. Obama needs to come out on the offensive by calling Clinton out on NAFTA and her slew of other lies, but I think they're going too far here...
