- AtHomeBoy2000, on 04/12/2008, -3/+31you get a digg just for the title
- krwlngwthyou, on 04/12/2008, -1/+28The guy speaks the truth.
- MotherGinSling, on 04/12/2008, -1/+26Obama is sympathetic and understanding. Unlike nearly every TV pundit, he was not being patronizing, and I hope most people didn't take it that way. He was responding to the condescending picture that the media is constantly painting of Pennsylvania, a picture initially created and fueled by Clinton goon James Carville's wisecracks. His point is that he understands why a variety of people are frustrated, distrustful and resentful. They should be! They've been ignored and ripped off and haven't been able to count on outside help (past administrations), so they're very protective of what remains of their own resources and their families and communities. Obama understands this. He's defending them!
"During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act." - George Orwell - tonyfv, on 04/12/2008, -1/+26Obama speaks to the kind of CHANGE everyone is talking about. He tells it like it is, and that is why people are coming out of the woods to register and support his campaign. Those bitter voters drive change. And they are right. Remember Howard Beal's "I've had enough and I won't take it anymore!
McC and HRC gloss over and use the same old same old tactics that have gotten them elected in the past, and look what these people have had to put up with for decades. A lot of talk, and NO ACTION, no change. - Stowz, on 04/12/2008, -2/+22Follow the pack run for the hills, I think this race has been over for the last couple weeks.
- jbdobd, on 04/12/2008, -1/+20I can just see Clinton and McCain staring at this with their mouth open saying "How can he keep telling the truth and getting away with it? I've spent decades in politics and the first thing I learned was not to be honest to the American people. He's not playing by the rules! Its not fair!"
- Tex, on 07/28/2008, -1/+19I'm convinced Barack Obama must have a black belt in political ju-jitsu. His ability to take the weight of his opponents' attacks and turn 'em back against them is pretty unparalleled.
- diggeradoo, on 04/12/2008, -1/+18This is an example of why I switched parties in PA so that I can vote for this guy. He gets it. I've lived in small towns in both Ohio and Pennsylvania. People have been frustrated, abandoned, and even bitter for 20 years now.
McCain doesn't get it, plus there's his age. Hillary doesn't get it (NAFTA, CAFTA, Walmart), plus there's her pathologic lying, her husband, and now apparently according to Bill her age is an issue too. - coffeebaby, on 04/12/2008, -0/+16i'm bitter as ***** at the state this country is in.
- omnithought, on 04/12/2008, -1/+14Damn straight!
- psnyder, on 04/12/2008, -1/+14Obama is not waiting for the media to make his points for him or to expose the ridiculousness of his opponents' attacks. He's making his own points, doing his own exposing, and challenging the media to report. Good for him. We need an actual truth-teller back in the White House.
- kavery, on 04/12/2008, -1/+14He's 100% correct - we are pissed off and we are sick of it.
We pay over $3 for a gallon of gas while oil companies enjoy record profits. We spend $10 billion a week on a war that has been going on for over five years with seemingly little headway but a constant trail of corpses both American and Iraqi. We can't afford to buy houses lest we roll the dice on a 3 year ARM mortgage and hope that rates stay the same or lower.
It's time we get serious about changing this goddamn country. - Veni_Vidi_Vici, on 04/12/2008, -1/+14This man give's me a reason once again to be proud to be an American. And he understands the 21st century. I know who I am voting for in the general election.
- mochaman, on 04/12/2008, -3/+14Dugg for:
"Industrial Size Whoop-Ass"
LOL! Dude that's priceless. - CH3CH2OH, on 04/12/2008, -1/+12That can of whoop-ass is so massive that its gravity collapses in on itself.
Does that make Obama the black hole candidate? - jon30041, on 04/12/2008, -1/+12Wait... what? When? Where?
I heard about people being rightfully pissed off... which, frankly, I am too. Where were these insults? And what the nuts is main street America? Is that small, rural towns? - jb246, on 04/12/2008, -1/+11Wow that was great. Go Obama
- dnegri, on 04/12/2008, -1/+11Obama needs to remember that anything said, even in closed settings, might wind up in a blog or on YouTube (with all the problems of context). That said, he shows that among the three candidates, when he extracts his foot from his mouth he does it in an eloquent way, which only adds to his authenticity. But, let's admit it, unlike Republicans, who are always on script (hence, phoney) and thus avoid gaffes, the Dems aren't (Michelle and Bill Clinton can attest to that). But this is why we can't afford to have a phoney like John McCain, who comes across as "average person" but who has been among the real elite (military and economic) his whole life. That and his 6 or 7 mansions.
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -1/+11You mean the people that gave him a STANDING OVATION?
- MoZeu, on 04/12/2008, -0/+8Just for the record, I stole it from someone else. But I don't think they would mind!
- diggboi, on 04/12/2008, -1/+9The man's done more in the past month to combat the sloganeering, "sound bite" snippet ***** that passes for TV journalism these days than every other politician has done in the last 30 years. Maybe this guy can help us bring meaningful dialogue back into the public arena, if we can rid ourselves of these pathetic "gotcha" sensationalists that foul our minds as they seek to outdo each other for that night's ratings bump.
With the world in the state it's in, we need a return to reason, and Obama is the only one with the chops and the stomach to do it. Every other consideration for your vote is pale ***** by comparison. - audiored, on 04/12/2008, -1/+9I think the Obama campaign should be on the air tomorrow with this as a commercial.
- okayokayokay, on 04/12/2008, -0/+8http://farm1.static.flickr.com/119/294168009_b25de ...
- serenity67, on 04/12/2008, -1/+8That's our next president... and it's about time we have a president who "get's it"!! Anyone who really "listens" to Barack would have to admit that what he said is TRUE... it may not be "pretty"... but it's true none the less.
- cmize, on 04/12/2008, -1/+8This is amazing. Every time he gets attacked he handles it brilliantly and comes out ahead. This is the leader we need to help us recover from the last eight years.
- insyyte, on 04/12/2008, -0/+7Obama rocks and gets a standing ovation for telling the truth about the depressing state of average American. Truth alone conquers. It's time to bury the traitors of the Constitution, the elk of McClintons and the like.
- okayokayokay, on 04/12/2008, -1/+7No. It simply indicates that the Tevatron team has in fact discovered the God particle - the Obama.
Thank gods they unleashed it in time to respond to McCain and Hillary's doubleteaming. - SusanWAstate, on 04/12/2008, -0/+6For the last 20 years the rich have been getting richer and the poor have been getting poorer. We're not going to take it any more!
- Uebermensch, on 04/12/2008, -1/+6I know that I, for one, am angry as hell over the state of America's economy. Over the past eight years we've bled lives and dollars into the sands of Iraq, and I'm not going to stand for it anymore.
- wp2007, on 04/12/2008, -1/+5When even the folks on CNN's Situation Room were mocking Clinton and McCain over this, you know Obama hit a home run. He is right, and every American knows it -- that's why his remarks were cheered so strongly.
- youfuckingsuck, on 04/12/2008, -1/+5Right at the end when he raises his voice and everyone is cheering... I pictured him just dropping the mic and being like "I'm out" and walking off stage. So great. love it. If Obama doesn't become President we have missed a huge change for something great.
- jphillips59, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4I think Akido is the form of martial arts you are thinking of...
- MindyB, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3He did not attack main street America! Where did he do that? He stated a fact about some people in some rural towns in PA, and that is all. I am a Pennsylvanian and what he said was true. There was not insult there, just the truth. The truth might sting sometimes, but truth is never insulting. I am glad one of the candidates finally gets it. Finally understands what is going on in main street America and doesn't' turn his back on us and pretends that everything is honky dory. If some people like the Clintons, McCains and their parrots don't like to hear the truth, because they don' t know how to deal with truth, tough on them. America is desperate for a change, and that change involves the truth and reality, as opposed to the cloak of secrecy and fantasy that our current administration has on us.
Pennsylvanians, vote for the candidate who gets it, who gets our reality. Vote for the smart choice, vote for Barack Obama on April 22nd. - michelleby, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4I Love LOVE LOve this man for telling it like it is! You Go Prez!
- olraya, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4Dude. He speaks the truth like I've never heard a politician speak before!!! Ridiculously AWESOME!
- cakemanjb, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4Obama is light years ahead of Clinton and Mcsame . The man is HONEST and speaks the TRUTH.
- kimdy, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4He's "mad as hell and not gonna take it anymore" - Stand strong Obama!
- xilduq, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4Obama speaks the truth. He is the one. I have not known a greater American leader in my 40 years of life.
- sulthernao, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4I think that CNN's tag team on Clinton and McCain was more amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4G8dRMofHNs
- jon30041, on 04/12/2008, -2/+4No, I'm asking you now. The primary is in two weeks, I'd like to know what you're talking about.
Oh, bestow upon me your wisdom, mighty Muckraker! - inactive, on 04/12/2008, -1/+3See the video where they give him a STANDING OVATION.
- MoZeu, on 04/12/2008, -1/+3I stole it! I'm not worthy!!!!!
- Tex, on 07/28/2008, -1/+2I went and checked it out. Yeah, it's Aikido.
- kujhawkrulz, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1Senator Obama don't let HRC or McCain tell you what you should and shouldn't say, especially when it's the damn truth!
I'm so sick and tired of a fellow Democrat misleading voters and using spin to try to get votes....shame on you Hillary Clinton....I now personally can't stand the sight of your face or the sound of your voice!
McCain is an old man that needs Lieberman to keep him straight because he's out of touch and has no clue what the hell is going on....they make Aricept for that Senator, try taking some!
I'm fed up, frustrated and beyond bitter! - the13thzen, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1What the hell... green aliens in the front row? Now there's something you'd never see at a McCain rally.
- Eternum1, on 04/12/2008, -0/+0Joe Hill just smiled down from the pearly gates ;)
- Tex, on 07/28/2008, -2/+2Careful, Michelle Obama ended up in the headlines when she said something along those lines.
- AAjetjock, on 04/12/2008, -2/+0I AM GUNNA PARTY SO HARD WHEN HILLARY GETS TOSSED OUTTA THE CAMPAIGN ON HER ASS! YEAH SHE UNDERSTANDS THE WORKING CLASS WITH $109 MILLION! & OH YEAH THEY GAVE TO THEIR OWN CHARITY AS A TAX EVADING VEHICLE! HOW MANY PENNSYLVANIANS HAVE THEIR OWN CHARITY?!!!!!! HC, BC, & JOHN McCAN'T (& HIS WIFE WITH HER BEER GOGGLES OR IS IT VALLIUM VIALS?) ARE FULL OF IT!
- OnlineMuckraker, on 04/12/2008, -7/+2He is going to find out what main street America is when they go to the poll in PA....you will know then...
- OnlineMuckraker, on 04/12/2008, -7/+2He attacked main street America. He committed Rhetorical Death. See Kenneth Burke and identification. LOL....
