- chrissku, on 09/24/2008, -20/+182McCain cancels debate Friday
What this actually means: McCain is afraid of getting trampled by Obama in the debate. John figures he can call a quick timeout while nobody's looking so he can try to figure out how to get the media talking points back to "Obama said she's a pig", or "Obama is so elitist" or "Obama hates America".
McCain suspends campaign
What this actually means: McCain, once again is pandering to voters. If you don't see through this than you should not be allowed to vote.
McCain keeps Palin from taking questions from reporters traveling with her
What this actually means: John McCain realizes that Sarah Palin has no business answering any unscripted questions since she knows jack ***** about foreign policy and politics in general.
John McCain/Palin "Lies we hope you'll beleive in" - MalarkeyPN, on 09/24/2008, -12/+94What the hell is McCain going to do in Washington to "fix" this crisis anyway? If the last week has taught us anything, it's that McCain doesn't know jack ***** about the economy.
Notice also how the Obama camp's suggestion was just to issue a "joint statement" outlining the two campaigns' "shared principles." While Obama moves to create clarity on the issues for the electorate, McCain makes a grand empty gesture. What a farce. - MalarkeyPN, on 09/24/2008, -8/+85Oh lol, look what Harry Reid said:
"I understand that the candidates are putting together a joint statement at Senator Obama's suggestion. But it would not be helpful at this time to have them come back during these negotiations and risk injecting presidential politics into this process or distract important talks about the future of our nation's economy. If that changes, we will call upon them. We need leadership; not a campaign photo op." - Jikul, on 09/24/2008, -16/+86I'm European, and I have to say this: no one who lives outside of the US understands why the americans are STILL talking about that election, because EVERYONE outside of the US has already figured that Obama is the right guy.
Why can't you? Why are you, americans, so BLIND???
damn... - MixMastaKooz, on 09/24/2008, -9/+65Looks like John McCain can't take a phone call at 8:30 am either....
You know damn well that his campaign, for the next SIX HOURS, was thinking, "Ok, how do we spin this?"
They release a PR saying they agree with Obama's overture...
Then two minutes later, suspends the campaign without the courtesy of calling the Obama campaign before announcing this?
This was a douchebag worthy move on McCain's part. - deherbs, on 09/24/2008, -10/+57McCain is trying to steal obama's thunder again?
- kimathi, on 09/24/2008, -11/+52McCain, you can help solve the crisis. Suspend not only your campaign, but your campaign manager, your reckless deregulation policies, and your involvement in our economic infrastructure.
- Foot56, on 09/24/2008, -6/+43Four words.. Bible belt and racism
- jsdratm, on 09/24/2008, -5/+38Now McCain thinks the presidential debate should replace the VP debate. Epic lulz.
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/24/mc ... - ShisouKen, on 09/24/2008, -13/+42Not so fast old man, Obama is not letting you get away that easy...
- Echota, on 01/05/2009, -6/+34rofl! Thats what I'm screaming and I'm an American!
- AxmxZ, on 09/24/2008, -10/+36McCain is just too chicken to debate Obama. Now everyone knows this.
- ironhide, on 09/24/2008, -2/+26You mean loaded, invitation-only town halls?
- chourobin, on 09/24/2008, -5/+28McCain isn't even in the relevant committee that deals with the questioning and negotiations for this bill. This is absolutely hilarious stunt and I have a feeling the American people will see it as a gimmick.
- Dgen_X, on 09/24/2008, -3/+23I just don't see why it's not possible to take 2 hours on Friday night, to hold the debate in DC. I'm sure they can find network TV cameras, and it would be a better debate without an audience anyway.
I said the same thing in the comments for another story, but lunch breaks will most likely exceed the length of the debate anyway... - SIRBERUS, on 09/24/2008, -3/+23Why would Obama, or any sane person, want to try and have a civil debate with a room packed full of carefully selected people that support the opponent?
It's sad that you are so ignorant, solboldi, you fell for it. - humperdinck, on 09/24/2008, -2/+21I call him Grandpa Liar.
- 4four1ones, on 09/24/2008, -3/+22Plain and Simple: The douchebaggery that surrounds McCain and his advisors can be seen from outer space.
This out of touch old codger has no idea what in the FARK he is doing. He looks and acts like a deer in headlights within the political arena. Obama is a bear and I hope he eats John for lunch. He is employing stall tactics because he knows that Obama will bust his ass in the debates. McCain is standing on broken crutches - he doesn't stand a chance.
To make himself look even more douchey, that jackass jumped in front of the cameras and basically spit in Obama's face in regards to standing together as a united front in regards to the bailouts. I really dont understand why peeps are hellbent on supporting McCain - he doesn't know jack sh!t and he is nothing more than a liar & smear artist.
Go buy another car McCain!
Make sure that your lovely wife has a $400,000.00 outfit on in support of you at the debate, so she can at least look good while you are getting your ass pwned by Obama. - humperdinck, on 09/24/2008, -0/+19Now CNN is saying McCain is suggesting rescheduling next week's VP debate and moving the presidential debate into that spot.
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/24/mc ... - bustachops, on 09/24/2008, -2/+22That'd be a great comment if it was based on logic and was followed by some sort of reasonable explanation . You honestly believe that what's good for the world is not somehow good for the U.S?? We have a GLOBAL economy now you ***** jack off. We don't live in a closed society. What affects one country affects us all. I'd continue to insult your intelligence, but I fear you may be some middle school kid
- Echota, on 01/05/2009, -3/+21 McCain's gesture was a pure political move and you know it.
McCain looks bad enough,he dosen't need your help.
Theres no need for you to go down with him. You're better then that! - dalittle, on 09/24/2008, -5/+23Wow, you can really smell the desperation of McCain. Did he not think that it would come out that Obama had made actions on this?
- Kohaxx, on 09/24/2008, -3/+19It reads like a kid who didn't do his homework for the presentation on Friday.
"I'm just too distraught from the crisis that I didn't act on earlier and don't give any coherent answers on to continue campaigning" - cadmiumpaint, on 09/24/2008, -2/+18John McCain cuts and runs. What a lying coward.
- LawJik, on 09/24/2008, -1/+15Press lockout for 40 days.... REDICULOUS.
Just trying not to say anything stupid in the home stretch hard with that VP choice, the banks crashing with your deregulation record, and being exposed as a repeat liar and another neocon candidate.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehO2U2bedsI - algaeturd, on 09/24/2008, -2/+15WHERE has McCain been since APRIL? Not in the Congress doing his job, that's for sure. All of the sudden he wants to go save the country where a negotiation is basically already MADE?
FAIL. - algaeturd, on 09/24/2008, -2/+15Pull your head out of your ass. It was Obama's idea to do a JOINT press conference with the media. It was McCain's idea to try to one up OBAMA'S idea of that conference.
I realize you republicans are really slow but how can you NOT understand this basic idea?
MAVERRRRRRICCKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!! - chourobin, on 09/24/2008, -0/+13Exactly... throughout this whole mess, Obama is the only one that knows what his role is... Obama isn't the one playing the gimmick.. suspending his campaign to do nothing in Washington.
- chourobin, on 09/24/2008, -0/+12just bail out of the race PLEASE
- Mejari, on 09/24/2008, -1/+13Or just increase the education levels all across the country. It may sound "elitist", but it is proven that people with higher levels of education are, on average, more likely to be Democrats than Republicans.
- Addicuss, on 09/24/2008, -3/+15desperate tactics from a desperate campaign. McCain should be ashamed of himself for such a transparent effort to stall the debates. But then again McCain doesn't seem capable of shame lately.
- Diggnabbit, on 09/24/2008, -0/+12Well, if McCain were on the Banking and Finance Committee, he could do a lot more than vote. But, it's true. All he (or Obama) can do is vote. Which is why it makes no sense to suspend his campaign or cancel the debate.
- Kohaxx, on 09/24/2008, -2/+13You can't reason with the paranoid. You can try to discuss and convince them nicely and they foam at the mouth. You try to call out their lies and they claim your source are liars out to get them. You attempt to show the good work he's done and they make more lies.
Don't get me wrong, I adore this country and the principles it was founded on.
But seriously when I talk to conservatives who say "Seperation of Church and State isn't in the constitution, I read it" and see outraged parents complaining because the school told their kid that the coastline was created over millions of years and that doesn't agree with the biblical age of the world, or talk to people in the workplace who still believe Obama is a muslim and hates white people...
...I just want to look to Europe and ask.."Do you have any room over there?" - richirwin, on 09/24/2008, -2/+13McCain is making a furious attempt to keep Palin from having to debate.
She gave him an initial bump, but this is turning out to be a disastrous choice.
John McCain - Not ready to debate, not ready to lead. - ironhide, on 09/24/2008, -2/+13So he's not scared of debating Obama but needs to buy more time to prep "Princess" Palin.
- algaeturd, on 09/24/2008, -2/+13McCain once again trying to steal someone else's thunder. Glad this has been made clear that once again, McCain pulls up the rear on all counts.
- pickleprince, on 09/24/2008, -0/+11Now the truth comes out...just another gambit to keep Crazy Lady Sarah out of mike distance.
- malex, on 09/24/2008, -0/+11You know, Obama addressed all these points way back in his speech in March.
Did you listen to it? I really think you should.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWe7wTVbLUU&feature ... - CCB0x45, on 09/24/2008, -1/+12Ummm, all they can really do is vote and make a statement... what other "action" should they do lol.
- leerayIG88, on 09/24/2008, -2/+13I agree with Obama. I hate Crysis. *middle finger*
- IphtashuFitz, on 09/24/2008, -1/+12The President of the United States has to deal with multiple issues simultaneously. Did the current president call a timeout in Iraq when Hurricane Katrina hit? (not that he did a very good job of handling either, IMHO) Did he pull all the troops from Afghanistan when the economic crisis started?
If McCain isn't able to deal with major issues like these while keeping up on more day-to-day things (for the PotUS) like a debate then he doesn't sound like he's qualified for the job. He'll need to juggle two, three, or more things at the same time if he does end up in the Oval Office. - kiwiboyus, on 09/24/2008, -0/+10Yeah we know about McSame's "town hall" meetings, a loaded bunch of scripted BS.
- CCB0x45, on 09/24/2008, -1/+11when did Obama back out of a debate?
lol - p9s50W5k4GUD2c6, on 09/24/2008, -1/+11"...Why are you, americans, so BLIND???"
Hey - chill out on the Anti-American rhetoric, okay?
52% of Americans know Obama's the right guy. We're just yelling at the other 48% who are BOTH blind and deaf.
Why are we yelling? Because we remember the Election in 2000.
Are we on the same page now? - V0lk, on 09/24/2008, -0/+10how about, let the VP's debate Friday, and McCain & Obama can debate next week...... I'd love to start my weekend by watching Biden teabag Palin in front of 100 million people.
- Kohaxx, on 09/24/2008, -0/+10Wow, now that's really desperate.
"I CAN'T DO THIS DEBATE ON FRIDAY IT'S TOO HARD"
"OH CRAP PALIN'S EVEN LESS PREPARED"
"LET'S CANCEL HER DEBATE AND DO MINE THEN!"
Caps out of necessity, sorry about your eyes. - chourobin, on 09/24/2008, -2/+12Goto work? LOL... What is McCain going to actually do there.. He isn't even on the committee that does the negotiations... what exactly will the cameras be showing him doing...
This would appear less of a gimmick if he actually told Obama what he was intending on doing first. Hilarious. - MalarkeyPN, on 09/24/2008, -0/+9That plus Obama never had the intention to suspend the campaigns. Obama just wanted to issue a joint statement where both candidates essentially outline the stuff they agree on regarding the bailout plan.
McCain tried to one-up that by making the impulsive, poorly thought out, ultimately pointless empty gesture of suspending his campaign. Unfortunately for him, people see through his crap too easily. - DevilInPgh, on 09/24/2008, -0/+9Maybe if you actually RTFA and stop talking, you'll see why we're bitching about McCain's stunt.
