- inactive, on 10/15/2007, -7/+25I don't know about this man.
They guy at the end said that they asked the candidates if they would like to come, and some of them did. Then he says they asked them to donate for their cause.
Now, it would seem to me that those campaigns may have thought that since they were asked to come that they would be given a space and once told that money was wanted or expected they vacated. I wouldn't necessarily knock them for that as it seems like a bad way to get the campaigns to give money, or at least pay for the space.
However, these other campaigners do have the money to come up with a hundred bucks for a good cause and must have known it would get out that they refused. - chrysrobyn, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19A lot of commenters seem to misunderstand. They didn't pay for booths, they didn't have booths. Beat on them all you want for not having booths, praise Ron Paul all you want for supporting their local fair, but don't think the other candidates were "stealing" booths or looking for hand outs.
- chadarizona, on 10/15/2007, -4/+16FAFSA is not a scholarship program, loan program, grant program, or anything else. FAFSA is just the name of the form. It stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. There is NO SUCH THING as FAFSA money. Please be more informed before commenting.
- inactive, on 10/15/2007, -4/+16Notice: YOU ARE ON DIGG. That is all.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -9/+18So am I. Vote Christopher Walken in 2008.
http://www.walken2008.com/ - donte, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Pro-gun. He's promoting the 2nd amendment right to carry them. And he's not willing to say "you can carry this gun but not this one or that one." You have a right to bear arms given by the constitution. His stance is that if you don't like the constitution you should take the proper steps to amend it, not simply make laws that ignore it (which every gun control law in the US does).
Anti-abortion. He's said over and over that he is personally pro-life, BUT it's not the government's job to pass a law restricting this choice. Be sure to notice the difference that just because he doesn't believe in something that doesn't mean he's out to legislate against it!!!
Anti-Social-Security. He's more concerned about the fact that people like me in my 20's are paying into a bottomless pit that won't have any money in it when I get old. He'd rather you just kept your money and saved it so that there would actually be something there when you get old. He's talked about paying out to the elder folks who are already dependent on it and then letting people like me opt out so I can just save for myself.
Anti-welfare. He's basically against the government getting involved in any socialist-style programs. The government makes them more expensive than they need to be so it costs taxpayers far more money than necessary to keep these programs going when many of the taxpayers don't want these programs in the first place. There are non-profit organizations who provide the same welfare-type services who are much more fiscally responsible and only receive funds from people who want to willingly support it. He's against forcing people to pay into a system that they don't believe in. If you want to promote welfare, donate to a local charity.
And lost of people who blast Bush, will blast him no matter what he does. He could pull out of Iraq tomorrow and he'll still be blasted. Frankly the children's insurance bill just reaked of politics anyway. It was a program that we couldn't afford and would make Bush look like even more of an ass because it had the word "children" in it. Carry the one... that must mean that Bush just hates children. Novel idea, but it's not like it was some saving grace piece of legislation that would have done much of anything.
Ultimately the huff about Ron Paul is that he wants to give people the freedom to do what they want with their lives and their money without the government always stepping in and telling you what and how to do these things. We can't simply rely on the other party (be it Dem or Rep) to take the country in a great direction anymore, so the prospect of voting for yet another party-line-voting lackey like Hilary, Obama, or Guliani, or McCain. So yeah, we're pumped about Ron Paul because he wants to go in a different direction. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11You, sir, win the internet. Here is your congratulatory bottle of "Bawls Guarana" and a frozen hot pocket.
- MaynardJK, on 10/11/2007, -7/+14Out of greed? Go ***** yourself. I can't believe that there are so many ***** like you that accuse people of being greedy for wanting to keep the money that THEY EARNED. You have no right to it.
Why don't you donate all of your income after living expenses to charity then? Because you are greedy apparently. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10Ron Paul is the most effective from of birth control. Tell your doctor if you are using MAO inhibitors or have high blood pressure before starting Ron Paul.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8No FAFSA = Many students not going to college
- marspidey, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Timetheos
It's about getting the government out of something it was not created to do. All Dept. of Ed. does is create more levels of bureucracy for a person to deal with. Treating a school like a business would create competition. Tuition is too high at one school than go to a cheaper one. Once a school starts losing students they will make changes. We don't need the government telling us how to run education. - DanOnTheMoon, on 10/15/2007, -6/+10:lol: Figures, Socialists are used to getting handouts! Newbs!
Ron Paul in 2008 FTW! - xenodata, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I like Ron Paul, but listening to this whole video to hear about this one thing was painful. The tidbit about the Obama/Clinton attendees not paying for their booth starts in the video at: 4:56
- JonnyTrombone, on 10/11/2007, -8/+11slimate420: are you a college student? If you aren't from an upper-class family, I would recommend not voting for Ron Paul. Getting rid of the Department of Education (for example) would raise tuition rates thousands of dollars and get rid of FAFSA money.
- WilliamDavis, on 10/15/2007, -6/+9"Ron Paul booth workers monitor the situation."
That made me laugh. I actually wasted 7 minutes of my life listening to / watching the video. Nothing to see there. Usually, Paul people have legitimate points or issues. Nothing here at all... mostly whining about how Hillary and Obama supporters wouldn't donate $100 to hang around a charity event and bug people. So what. If I were there, I'd be glad they left. - alternativecatI, on 10/15/2007, -3/+6I was swooning over Obama, until I read up on both Obama and Ron Paul. Obama is not going to stop war as he claimed he would. Ron Paul will save hundreds of thousands of lives around the world. I support the right to abortion, but I support saving hundreds of thousands of lives around the world, and defeating the Patriot Act more.
- PeppermintPig, on 10/15/2007, -0/+3So if the majority says we should make black people slaves, that's okay with you?
Because a majority believes something, that does not grant that belief merit. It does not give you the authority to subjugate the minority by enforcing that belief on others. - PeppermintPig, on 10/14/2007, -0/+3Timetheos: "I can tell you without a doubt that even if we cut the employment taxes to zero, it would not stop outsourcing."
That's somewhat true. If people still think they can make money providing ***** services, a company elsewhere, possibly overseas will figure out a way to do it better, if not also cheaper.
If taxes benefit the wealthy, and the trend is that people in power stack the deck to favor their politically connected friends, then the solution is to shrink government. - LuaPron, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Right, because using massive amounts of OPM (Other Peoples' Money) to pander to your voters isn't greedy at all.
- WilliamDavis, on 10/15/2007, -1/+4And those who have already been swindled will also get what they expected, however bad of a deal it was for them. It's not like they'll be left high and dry.
- Timetheos, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7You don't "earn" your money in a vacuum. You go to work via roads or the Internet. Education helped provide workers and consumers. A defense system and police guarded your goods. Firefighters help eliminate tragedies. Regulation of the markets keep you from being ripped off, whether it is stock, insurance, or from monopolies...
As Adam Smith, the father of capitalism says:
“The rich should contribute to the public expense not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion.”
- izallgood, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6To pay for their "free: booths they propose a 5% across the board price (tax) increase on booth fees.
- Monk22, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2you down with OPM?
- LuaPron, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Furthermore, better make sure your not taxing the rich 35%, then funding them 85% with subsidies and market restrictions that preventing underfunded competitors from offering a a better, cheaper service.
- epsilona01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I'm a RP supporter.. but this sounded bizarre. Not even going to watch the video.
- Monk22, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4the richest 10% of the country pay 85% of the taxes STFU
- AnarkeIncarnate, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6No, there was no Dept of Education many years ago. Colleges that want talented kids, regardless of economic status can still set them up for free. YOU can still contribute towards private awards/grants if you choose. Hell, I could too and may. But nobody should force me
- espek, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5Hanging out in airport bathrooms again huh....
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+7He's personally anti-abortion, he would allow people to opt-out SS and would set restrictions on the abuse of Welfare (2 years restrictions, etc). Get your facts straight, people support Dr. Paul because he's consistent--he doesn't lie to the people (Obama, Hillary, Bush, Rudy, Romney, et al).
- Timetheos, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6No, it will mean that only rich kids can get into the better schools. With FAFSA, kids have the opportunity to compete based on merit as opposed to family status.
- LuaPron, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Off-shoring in response to liberal taxation?!! Say it aint so!
- Reese268, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2you're replying to yourself now?
- robisfunky, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2WTF are you talking about? What does color have to do with anything? Jeez, Digg has really gone to the dogs.
- marmanukem, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Notice: You are blocked, that is all.
- terminal157, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3“The rich should contribute to the public expense not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion.”
But should they be forced to? That's the real question. - donte, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4Well since he also plans to get rid of the department of education (read: rid of the abysmal failure called no child left behind) and the completely worthless department of homeland security, you've already release enough assets to continue SS long enough to support the people who are totally reliant on it right now.
- PeppermintPig, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I believe AnarkeIncarnate is saying color shouldn't matter.
- myxyplik, on 10/11/2007, -5/+6I'm open minded about Ron Paul, but this just smells like *****. Buried.
- tnoy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3People who blast Bush for vetoing the healthcare bill have no idea what the contents of the bill are. Most actually think that children no longer get healthcare.
- terminal157, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4Such things would be handled on the state level where the people would have greater influence. Which makes perfect sense and is absolutely reasonable. Stop spreading the misconception that Paul's version of America is the wild west.
- seandaly, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1@Timetheos: sorry, the "source?" comment wasn't meant for you, it was meant for Monk22. I admit I'm a retard and cannot work the comment system!
- seandaly, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1But government currently is not his ideal world... Do you really think that the Congressmen / Senators who have bought / cheated their way into office are going to just stand by and let RP ***** everything up for them? No ***** way!
- LuaPron, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Its OPM - how can anyone not be addicted to it?
- marspidey, on 10/11/2007, -6/+7I'm a college student. Getting rid of the Department of Education would get rid the messiness that government causes whenever they do anything in Education. Private schools would operate like businesses, if a school become to expensive then a student is free to move to another school that is cheaper. Competition will bring down prices own their own. Also there is very little accountability with schools with the money they receive from tuition, they can spend money on frivolous things that students don't want. So I'm am totally willing to get government out of schools.
Vote Ron Paul 2008 - marspidey, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Do you like the DMV? IRS? It's proven that govt. creates layers of bureaucracy. Ron Paul wants to get rid of all the middle men that govt. has put there. If you really want more agencies to tell you what you can and can't do you might want to rethink your idea of freedom.
- seandaly, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Shut up already... This has evolved from a respectable (and admirable) grass-roots campaign to SPAM!
- robisfunky, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3 How much more do the 'rich' need to give??? We already have this hideous progressive tax. The more you make, the larger the percentage the Gov takes. That's a ***** brilliant way to encourage people to generate money. And you wonder why companies keep leaving the country to run their business elsewhere?
- seandaly, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Source? You don't have the whole story there...
http://www.askquestions.org/articles/taxes/ - Timetheos, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4--No, there was no Dept of Education many years ago.---
And during that time, primarily the rich went to college.
--But nobody should force me--
Why not? You benefit from it. Whether that is one less person stealing from you because they are destitute, one more person working at your company because they have an education, or someone that invents a great thing, you benefit. -
