- tcbishop12, on 06/02/2008, -12/+61Sen. Obama will redraw the national electoral map in a rather dramatic and striking fashion with his victory this fall.
- capj71, on 06/02/2008, -9/+39I think Obama will do just fine thanks. He'll probably win bigger Bush states live Virginia and Ohio, and he could pick several off in the Mountain and Southwest. Florida will likely go McCain, but Obama will be able to more than offset this in other places.
- rewinn, on 06/02/2008, -8/+32The 50-state strategy is a winner. No state should be ignored; it forces McCain to defend everywhere and lets us take advantage of last-minute opportunities (...such as Foley's seat in '06). There are Democrats everywhere in America, and Independents who just want to be heard!
- brightlight4, on 06/02/2008, -9/+33And I hope he can recover freedom of speech and liberties for the US citizens too.
- inactive, on 06/03/2008, -6/+22If America re-elects, er, elects McCain, we're god-damned stupid.
- Brian48216, on 06/03/2008, -1/+15you must be new to America....
- B08ama, on 06/02/2008, -4/+18They seem to have forgotten Kansas, which favors Obama but has never before been collected by a Democrat in a presidential election.
- garg, on 06/03/2008, -0/+12Gas prices have also gone up ever since Britney Spears broke up with Kevin Federline.
CORRELATION DOES NOT MEAN CAUSATION. - cyclopssmiley, on 06/03/2008, -2/+12Florida ruins everything
- phrenzy, on 06/03/2008, -7/+16I want Obama to win. I really do, and I will work to make it happen.
BUT, never forget: We are living in the country that voted for Bush's SECOND term when it was crystal clear how terrible he was.
What makes anybody think that Americans are going to suddenly vote any smarter this time? - fani, on 06/03/2008, -0/+9Did you not read the article before commenting ?
It specifically talks about this point of yours. - SRSco, on 06/03/2008, -1/+9Except for in 1964, 1936, 1932, 1916, 1912 and 1896, not that any of those were recent. I'm just sayin'.
- Evanmontegarde, on 06/03/2008, -1/+8In 2004 it really had not yet dawned on people what a massive mistake the Iraq War was. The subprime mortgage crisis had not boiled over and gas was not $4 a gallon nationwide.
Circumstances are stacked against the GOP this year I would say. - thelastwarrior, on 06/03/2008, -2/+8I guess America no longer wants another Douche...
- artofficial, on 06/03/2008, -4/+10Awesome! an Obama site giving good news about Obama!...oh...wait...
- dagamer34, on 06/03/2008, -1/+6We can just digg you down? Save the drama for TNT pal. They do it better than you.
- Gerz1219, on 06/03/2008, -2/+7This is all horrible news for McCain. He wants to run 2004's 3-state race over again, because he doesn't have the money to compete everywhere. While he's busy pouring money into seven different states all over the country, Obama can attack him in other places like Texas, where McCain currently holds a significant but surmountable lead. McCain doesn't want to spend a cent defending Texas, but if he takes it for granted he might wind up with an upset like Gore's loss of his home state of Tennessee (which was just as decisive as Florida).
- inactive, on 06/03/2008, -5/+10Good luck, Rush.
- sadilak, on 06/03/2008, -1/+5True, But Bush and his goons are the bigger culprit here. There is no denying the fact that every ***** politician in the congress is getting a share of the pie.
- phrenzy, on 06/03/2008, -6/+10To digg's Republican Trolls: How's that Michelle Obama "Whitey" tape working out for ya?
- pintomp3, on 06/03/2008, -1/+5let's ignore statisticians and listen to a couple of magicians.
- Gerz1219, on 06/03/2008, -3/+7It's a non-story. She's saying "Why'd he..." -- the media has the tape, and they're sitting on the story because it isn't a story.
- inactive, on 06/03/2008, -2/+6You republicans are such sore losers.
- klco, on 06/03/2008, -0/+4Not to mention John Kerry has all the charisma of a wet sock... Running a candidate as not-Bush isn't an effective strategy.
- phrenzy, on 06/03/2008, -2/+6Like Lieberman?
or are you one of those Republicans who considers anybody who doesn't want to privatize the sidewalks and shoot illegal aliens on sight a "liberal" - Murdats, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3actually he has already been banned, not because of his views (which are retarded)
but because he SPAMS EVERY DAMN STORY - Drakfire, on 06/03/2008, -1/+4that was uncalled for....
Senator Webb is doing a great job as a Senator for my state and I am disappointed by your childish statement. - Evanmontegarde, on 06/03/2008, -5/+8I sincerely hope my state (Virginia) will recognize that Obama is the better candidate. I'll be doing my part by volunteering this summer and voting in November.
I'd love to see Jim Webb on the VP slot as well. - pintomp3, on 06/03/2008, -1/+4so did most of the country.
- dagamer34, on 06/03/2008, -1/+42003-2004 was only 2 years removed from 9/11. The fear campaign worked pretty well back then (sadly). But now with 4,000 of our proud troops fallen, I don't think anyone's gonna buy into that ***** for much longer for the reasons Bush/McCain give.
- haxcorner, on 06/03/2008, -1/+4I know that a lot of Christian or other Bible-believing people align themselves with Republicans because of their stances on certain issues. In simple terms - conservative = good, liberal = bad.
Other than that, some people are afraid of change - and when you're looking at McCain vs. Obama - you've got the image of an older, Grandfatherly man (albeit grumpy) who on the surface (if you don't actually pay attention to what he's saying) seems competent, dedicated and trustworthy who largely will keep with the status quo and won't rock the boat too much. Plus he's every other president we've had - an old(er) white male. Compare that to Obama - a relatively unknown, younger black man who's promising to change the way things work in our country - nearly the complete opposite of McCain, if not the complete opposite.
All that said, I don't think that Republicans will take the election this year. There are too many of us dissatisfied with the way things are and Obama has been good about getting people involved in and even excited about the voting process. - garg, on 06/03/2008, -1/+4Maybe if you stop SPAMMING and start following the TERMS AND CONDITIONS of Digg.com then you won't get banned. Breaking the rules to further your own personal agenda. Reminds me of someone.
- Laminarcissus, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3I say low expectations.
They're going to let McCain play so far into the bumbling old guy routine that merely putting a sentence together will seem impressive, and Obama will come across as inauthentic and glib.
Watch for it to start for real around the debates.
"Well heck, I'm just hoping to get through the debate in one piece! No doubt that fella sure can talk, but I hope people can remember to listen to what he's actually saying and what I'm actually saying...Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it!" - drakethegreat, on 06/03/2008, -1/+3Yes because a flame baiter like you on digg who spends his days bashing everyone here is really the first person we believe shares the opinions of the rest of the US... Just so you know your efforts are futile.
- ralphthemagi, on 06/03/2008, -2/+4They're are, but it's a numbers game at the end of the day. That's why the 50-state strategy doesn't work. It just doesn't.
There are a lot of states that simply don't have a democratic majority needed to win. Maybe he can do amazing in states like Idado or Utah, but if he doesn't get the majority, he still loses the state. Even if he changes the demographics of the vote from 15/80 to 45/50, he still loses.
I mean, look at what happened with Gore. Won the popular, lost the electoral. That's something that can ABSOLUTELY happen again if you are actually running a 50-state strategy. - ileftfark, on 06/03/2008, -4/+6Sure. You can choose from eyesonobama.com, huffingtonpost.com or dailykos.com.
It's a free country :) - inactive, on 06/03/2008, -0/+2 That's a no brainer...what is the old saying fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me...well for sure they were fooled twice, looks like people don't want to fall for it 3 times.
- dagamer34, on 06/03/2008, -1/+3Sadly, some people think that Republicans are the fiscal party when they actually spend MORE than the Democrats. Democrats will tax high-end earners because they know that the money has to come from somewhere that ISN'T overseas like China.
- peacebyanymeans, on 06/03/2008, -0/+2Whoa-ho-ho! Aren't you clever.
- hixxy, on 06/03/2008, -2/+4I'm pretty sure they aren't factoring in all of the pissed off Hillary supporters after Obama snags the nomination.
Not to mention this is probably the WORST place you could pull "accurate" statistics from. - inactive, on 06/03/2008, -1/+3Show us the tape or shut your Republican ass-kissing piehole.
- EtherGnat, on 06/03/2008, -0/+2@lajaw
Just because garg pointed out a weak argument against congress doesn't mean a strong case can't be made that Bush is responsible in part for high gas prices. - garg, on 06/03/2008, -1/+3He did a great job standing up to Bush the last 4 years.
"get this country moving again"
He supported everything and everyone that GOT THE COUNTRY TO A GRINDING HALT IN THE FIRST PLACE. - IphtashuFitz, on 06/03/2008, -3/+5Unfortunately a lot of the middle states in the US have historically voted Republican and have drunk so much of the Republican kool aid that they'll blindly vote Republican just because they want to support their party. Hopefully more of the younger generation are less prone to this, and with a bit of luck that will turn a few of those states to the Democrats this November.
- dagamer34, on 06/03/2008, -0/+2See the 1992 election where Bush, Sr. has 80% approval ratings and ol' Billy boy still won with 370 electoral votes! Polls 6 months ahead of the election are beauty contests.
- AmishJedi, on 06/03/2008, -1/+3Some people in America (mostly the South) are just idiots.
- Cattywampus, on 06/03/2008, -0/+2Definitely. Even if the numbers in a poll are right, they will change from day to day. It may create a herd mentality in some people; in others it may motivate them to vote against the crowd.
- inactive, on 06/03/2008, -2/+4If that's the best you chumps can come up with, Obama's a shoo-in.
