- twitchr, on 11/26/2008, -0/+40OMG it's Socialism!! He wants to spread the thanksgiving wealth around!!
- thepoliticalcat, on 11/26/2008, -2/+36This is change I can believe in. Change that I need. Change the whole country needs. What a terrific family.
- Anomaly100, on 11/26/2008, -0/+26"was in a jovial mood, calling out "happy thanksgiving" and telling everyone "you can call me Barack."
I loved that he wanted his kids to know how fortunate they are and to give a little back. Of course, the Repubs in the comments will say it's for publicity, but I don't think he needs any right now, and hey, really, honestly, can you imagine Cindy and John doing this? I don't think so. Great family. It's finally time we have a first family to be proud of. - chiropam, on 11/26/2008, -0/+20Keeping it real...
- MrEguy, on 11/26/2008, -0/+20This is a man who wants to stay "in touch" with the people as much as possible. His consciousness of the struggle many others face is something I haven't witnessed from a president in years. The Obama's are a beautiful family.
- JenniferInMO, on 11/27/2008, -0/+14Such a lovely, loving, compassionate family. You can't look through those photos and think that Obama's expressions are anything but joyous and genuinely compassionate. He really wants to be there.
- devans00, on 11/27/2008, -0/+11Barack, Michelle, Malia and Sasha leading by example and not just talk the talk. They actually stood out in the Chicago cold to walk the walk.
Hope the Obamas inspire others. - coffeebaby, on 11/27/2008, -0/+10the look on those kids faces in the 8th picture is just so touching.
*sigh* - woodsjransom, on 11/27/2008, -0/+10Well this is certainly an example to the other so called leaders in this country. Maybe they should get off of their duffs and follow his lead. Thanks for sharing!!!
- JenniferInMO, on 11/27/2008, -0/+8I honestly think that is a good part of this. The expression on his face and the faces of his kids are genuine joy. I think his main desire in life is to have an impact on those less fortunate. I also think he will have a tough time with being isolated. They will be fine, but much to the chagrin of the Secret Service I think we will see instances like this throughout his presidency.
- darkstorm777, on 11/27/2008, -0/+7Just as a side note, it was 25degrees, good on them. Change starts with One Person....and it sure does help when that one person is the PRESIDENTOFTHEDAMNEDCOUNTRY....still so surreal seeing some of this stuff...publicity or not.....what President thats still alive would EVER do this
- NyteStarNyne, on 11/27/2008, -0/+7During campaigns, I don't really pay too much attention to the good deeds that politicians do, but it's hard to ignore that this guy seems to practice what he preaches, before, during and after the campaign is over. Also, I love the answer he gave about why he brought his children to the food drive.
- NyteStarNyne, on 11/27/2008, -0/+5Dearly, not queerly?
- staffell, on 11/27/2008, -0/+5I love you.
In a completely non gay way of course. - MediaWeasel, on 11/27/2008, -0/+4That was genuine, heartfelt compassion. Ya boo sucks to the cynics. If this teaches young people that they have a part to play in their communities and encourages them to do a little more to help, it will be a fine and wonderful thing.
This good man and his family really "get it". - fiatjustitia, on 11/27/2008, -0/+4Awesome sarcasm.
Has anyone else noticed that the extreme right wing wolverines haven't descended on this thread yet like they usually do?
"Hey Earl, another huff post article! call the boys!"
*clicks on it and sees pictures of Obama and his wife and kids handing food to the needy*
"Uhh... umm.... ***** it, let's just go watch Red Dawn again, who's down?" - byrdgang, on 11/27/2008, -2/+6He already won...what's the propaganda for?
- Dumbledorito, on 11/30/2008, -0/+1A lot of this stuff is for show, yeah. Every politician wants their photo ops to go smoothly. However, Bush had a special knack for ***** them up royally, adding to his "clueless privilaged white-guy" vibe. Like, holding up the "display turkey" in Iraq, as if the troops were getting Norman Rockwell-like centerpieces to eat.
Or when he did his famous "made in the USA" photo op where the crates were actually full of products from China: http://www.commondreams.org/headlines03/0122-10.ht ...
Obama hasn't even been sworn in yet, so it's too early to tell (unless there's past history that's not covered here) as to whether or not this falls completely under the "cynical photo op" banner, the "part of the political job" banner, or the "family tradition" banner. - inactive, on 11/27/2008, -2/+1So, you're saying propaganda is only used during presidential campaigns?
- inactive, on 11/27/2008, -3/+2A picture of George Bush volunteering at a food bank:
http://www.nancarrow-webdesk.com/warehouse/storage ...
Barack Obama is just like you. He has holes in his shoes and volunteers at food banks. Give him your support. Believe in our government. Ignorance is Strength.
Forget about that FISA and Patriot Act nonsense, it's all in the past. Why do you keep bringing that up? You must hate Obama and hate America.
Remember, he will bring Change⢠- inactive, on 11/27/2008, -3/+1Your logic is flawed.
Just because he volunteers at a food bank, doesn't mean he will be a good president. George Bush had plenty of photo-ops at food banks and Thanksgiving dinners; as you know, George Bush was not the "Change we needed:"

go back to your basments you fat lazy brits - inactive, on 11/27/2008, -12/+1Yes, nothing like a little Propaganda, just in time for the holidays.
He's just like us... I mean, come on... the guy has holes in his shoes and volunteers at food drives. What's not to like? /s
