"Of course, Obama didn’t commend Sharpton for his anti-Semitism. He commended him for being a “voice for the voiceless”. This commendation is typical, meaningless, Obama jibberish that could mean just about anything. He could very well have been commending O. J. Simpson’s lawyer — or any lawyer, for that matter, seeing that lawyers are, by their very profession, “voices for the voiceless”.
Was Obama being overtly anti-Semitic? No — not any more than he was being overtly racist by associating with Rev. Your comment touches a vein because I know how frustrating it can be to see the viscious rumors, lies, and twisted truths being directed at this good and decent human being. One of the characteristics of Americans is that they have always believed in fair play in any contest regardless of which side they supported. Its hard to see this being thrown to the wayside while fair play is replaced by hatred.
However, don't you think that we too bear some of the responsibility? While we have had our heads in the sand the radical right-wing media has taken over 90% of the airwaves, the mainstream media, the newspapers. Mr. Murdock, a radical right-winger, purchased most all the avenues by which the public get their news and information. He fired all the investigative reporters. News has become gossip and entertainment, driven by not only money but a right-wing ideology which almost overturned this government in the 1930's-1940's. ( He who controls the media, controls what people think.) That is why the government put in the Fair Act, which made it law that both sides of an issue had to be given equal time. They saw what Hitler was able to do in Germany with his total control of the media of his day and they didn't want that happening in America especially after the close call in the 1940's. Unfortunately, we were oblivious when this Fair Act ended.
Recorded in the National Archives is a plot to take over the government in the 1930's-1940's. They had plans with the help of a very popular retired General who would mobolize the veterans behind him to kill Roosevelt and take over the government for Hitler. Preston Bush, George Bush's grandfather was deeply involved in this. In fact, his involvement with Hitler was where the Bush fortune purportedly came from. This group had hoarded all the money in the country. They planned to create a complete economic collapse so it would be easier for them to take over. Luckily the General turned them in at the last minute. They should have been hung for treason but because the U.S. despartly needed money, a deal was worked out.
It is interesting to note that around 4 years ago two survivors of Aushwitz (? spelling) tried to sue the Bush family for the murder of 40,000 people. President Bush changed Clinton's signature on a document which helped get the suit thrown out. The fact that the U.S. government was also named in the suit probably had something to do with the suit being denied as well.
I understand there are some books coming out about this serious event. Unfortunately, at least in one of the books it is being spun by a right-wing former employee of Fox News to put as good a face on it for the Bushs as possible so the true story will not come out.
I always wondered if the American people would be as susceptible to the brain-washing, propaganda, lies, hypnotizing techniques which created the hatred that Hitler used to turn the German people against the Jews. Today I have my answer. It is the hatred we see in these comments that is evidence. Not only is it directed at Obama but it is directed at any American who is a Democrat or who supports a different presidential candidate.
After studying the methods of propaganda etc used by Hitler in college, I can tell you History is repeating itself.
Unfortunately, most of the American people are oblivious. By the time America wakes up to what is really going on we may find we have blood on our hands and it will be too late.
Those people with that radical right-wing ideology didn't disappear. They have regrouped. They are smarter now and this time they may win. Years ago right after the Oklahoma city bombing, I ran into three of them who told me McVay was a foot soldier in a war. They told me they were going to take this government, which they hated, back. They told me they had their people everywhere, judges, law enforcement, churches, pentagon, politicians, CIA, etc. At the time I thought such a thing was impossible and that they were just kooks. (They were very secretive but one of the young ones had accidently slipped by opening his mouth so after they thought I was harmless to them, they talked a little.)
When Hillary came out later with her "vast right-wing conspiracy" I felt a tinge of uncomfortableness but preferred to embrace the public view at that time. Well, she was probably right after all so shame on us.
It's enlightening to see that Sara Palin's husband is involved with a group who wanted to separate itself from the U.S. and hates the U.S. government. Its leanings are definitely Fascist in nature. I find this problematic.
It's interesting to see all the hate directed at Democrats and Liberals, the name calling such as Nazi's when it was the right-wing of this country who were the true Nazi's and still are. Their willingness to lie and put out smears and viscious rumors are key as Hitler was master of this technique. The continual lies coming out of Palin's mouth even after they've been proven to be lies is an indicator of what lies ahead. This time we don't have a general to turn these people in. McCain is too deeply involved himself. If these two get elected it will be the end of America as we have known it, our civil rights will be toast, forget about jobs or good salaries which will be replaced with slave labor, forget about social security, medicare, health care, disability pay or any help for poor mothers or children. Those things will pass away.
As long as these people can use the churches to get what they want and to control the people, they will. That's why they are throwing billions of dollars around in Florida right now to Black Ministers so they will tell their flocks not to vote for Obama over the abortion issue. The strange thing is that Obama is willing to help with both legislative and financial support to help women keep their babies and avoid unwanted abortions. The other side has been paying lip service to it for nearly 30 years and mocking God at the same time but only increasing abortion. Making it illegal will not save a single baby. It will go to the individual states and take another 30 years of our church leaders telling us to vote for those who do us economic harm in the name of abortion. Obama will decrease abortion while McCain will increase it and may endanger all human life with his drive for nuclear power for weapons for his wars. Its interesting to note that abortions declined sharply and substantially when Clinton was in office but skyrocketed when Bush, who wears a pro-life label, was in office. They quit keeping score in his second term. Once the Churches wake up and no longer go along with these people, they will be put to death and we'll have new martyrs. Obama doesn't want to criminalize women by making abortion illegal. I'm anti-abortion but I don't want the state controlled by these radical right wingers to have the power of life and death over women. Right now, women who have abortions in Brazil are imprisoned for 3 years. Its not going to take the right-wing hate machine long to get the public to go along with putting women who are also victims to death. I agree with Obama on this one.
Perhaps enough people will wake up in time to prevent this by voting for the constitutional scholar who will defend our constitution and our liberties. Even so, it is going to be a constant battle to hang on to our Democracy by our fingernails as these people are so ingrained and will fight Obama with all they've got. The time of letting others handle our government are over. This argument could easily be turned around to suggest that Obama campaign staffers are posting rumors, with multiple anonymous names, that McCain has an age-related neurodegenerative disease. The lack of control you cite would indeed be a convenient way for Obama's staffers to do this while avoiding responsibility. If you want to contend that McCain's backers are posting nasty stuff at MyBO to make Obama look bad, I can make the above argument equally well.

The same moderators could have removed, for example, one individual's wish that the Clintons would be "lynched" no matter where it came from, but they chose not to do so until the piece in question was dragged into the open for the world to see. The account of the person who posted it has not been terminated even though she also says that the U.S. is the Great Satan.

The only thing racist about the article is the racist and anti-Semitic material it quotes, for the purpose of exposure and condemnation, from Sharpton & Co. and from MoveOn.org. Your depiction of the article as "racist trash" is like denunciation of a spam complaint as spam--the complaint will of course contain the spam about which it complains, and "Obama Endorsed an Anti-Semitic Hate Group, Solicited Another" quotes the racist and anti-Semitic "trash" about which it complains.

Read carefully. Al Sharpton did not endorse Obama (as far as I know). OBAMA ENDORSED SHARPTON. If we use your analogy, it would be the equivalent of a candidate endorsing Charles Manson or the KKK, not Manson or the KKK endorsing the candidate as you describe. -
