- NWTerriD, on 02/06/2009, -7/+55Methodically takes down every one of their talking points.
- nbeck2, on 02/06/2009, -7/+45The President provides the leadership and takedown that we've been waiting for. Thanks President Obama!
- torrentprime, on 02/06/2009, -7/+44About time! Gobama!
- londubh, on 02/06/2009, -7/+39The Republicans are going to do their damnedest to obstruct the Democrats from achieving anything. They hope their will be a disaster to blame on the Dems.
- SonOfHam, on 02/06/2009, -7/+37How convenient to take place on a Thursday, ready to consume Friday's airtime and into Sunday's talk shows. ;)
- gdamac, on 02/06/2009, -8/+37My president
- grlykool, on 02/06/2009, -8/+37Rope a dope.
- thenekkidtruth, on 02/06/2009, -7/+34Yo, George - check it out! THIS is what a REAL statesman looks like! Real skill, real effort, real regard for the people and the job, real single minded intent to make a real difference. He's even a REAL speaker !
Dammmm fine thing to finally have a REAL president. - jeffbw, on 02/06/2009, -8/+33So why is Obama the only one capable of making these points? Has nobody in Congress ever read a basic economics textbook? Can somebody mail one to all the Rethugs? How about the Fat Turd, could somebody strap that piece of ***** in a chair and all the Ludovico gear and slowly (but slowly) turn the pages of a Macro 101 textbook in front of its eyes and not let it eat until it can recite the contents?
- texasred54, on 02/06/2009, -6/+25The voice of the President. This is the voice I wanted to hear as we go through these hard times. I heard that voice in his books.
But, he needs for Americans to raise their voices. We all worked to get him elected. Now, we must work with him as he makes the changes we asked for during the election. It will take all of staying politically active to move this country in the right direction. - inactive, on 02/06/2009, -4/+23convenient? or a strategic decision to work the media to get this passed for the benefit of our country
- LooseFur, on 02/06/2009, -4/+18That ain't gonna work.
The GOP is CRAP going down the tubes, & they're too stupid to recognize it. - mmclaurin, on 02/06/2009, -0/+13npr.org "The bill does make it possible for lawmakers and the public to track the money"
I know all you academics on the left are smarter than those of us in the general public so can you help me understand how you can support this bill when you have no idea where the money is going? I understand Obama is a great speaker and a nice guy and all of that but forgive me my ignorance for not blindly following a chicago politician. - HumanNouveau, on 02/06/2009, -4/+17We're seeing a community organizer in action; someone who knows how to unite through dialog and force of positive ideas and reason. The Republican campaign used "community organizer" as a derogatory epithet. It clearly is quite the other way around. Community organizers operate from the power of consensus and not the brute power. I don't know what type of change others sought, but this kind was high on my list.
- SonOfHam, on 02/06/2009, -3/+14That was exactly my point. I was commending him on great political timing.
- Alheithinn, on 02/06/2009, -4/+15I don't know if Republicans are really as ignorant as they seem or if they're playing at it. As Obama pointed out, this bill needs to be put into effect immediately. If we wait too long, irreperable damage will be done to our economy and to our country.
The same Republicans who today urge caution, who say were should not leap into anything, are no doubt the same ones who when Bush was pulling the trigger on Iraq were all too willing to take the leap.
The Republicans used the politics of fear when there was nothing to fear.
Obama is not using the politics of fear. THERE IS REALLY REASON TO FEAR. - niradg, on 02/06/2009, -4/+14This hasn't been made popular and isn't listed in upcoming. What's going on here?
- CL38, on 02/06/2009, -4/+13Republicans are out in force today on the news blogs in response to Obama's speech--very nasty, dismissive of ordinary American's lives and struggles now and trashing Democrats and the stimulus I'm not by nature a mean person, but, enough is enough..my response? If Republicans don’t like Democrats or Obama and what we intend to do these next four years, I suggest you stop posturing, screaming, threatening and whining, suck it up, and learn to live with it. Help us or get out of the way! It’s going to get a lot worse for the likes of you, and better for the rest of us. Get used to being in the minority. Republicans failed. You blew it. Remember Rove declaring that you’ll be permanent rulers? It was a little premature.
- Kinak, on 02/06/2009, -1/+10I'm confused. Your quote there says we will know where the money is going.
So, yeah, we want to know where the money's going and Obama's isn't pawning off a plan without accountability. Hope that answered your question. - Alheithinn, on 02/06/2009, -3/+11Right on! He's not dictating his "hunches" but appealing to the people who put him there. We now just have to find a way to influence our representatives to actually represent us. I think it's a new concept for them and it may take awhile to get them used to the idea.
- freedomjoe, on 02/06/2009, -1/+7which is why they put it online for all to review, unlike the 300b the bush admin gave away and couldn't tell us where anything went. turns out, it went to pay bonuses....
- twiztidsinz, on 02/07/2009, -1/+61). He's already shown himself to be more capable than Bush.
2). Its "douche", douche. - mediablitz, on 02/06/2009, -5/+10You don't know what Pork is, and you forgot to say "tax cuts for the rich will fix this!".
Other than that, your straw man trolling, combined with your sad lack of understanding about long term growth, gets you a 2/10. - mediablitz, on 02/06/2009, -3/+7Many of the same people passed the Patriot Act in one day. Do you think they read it? They have people read it, give them a summary, then they spout talking points.
I think you have too high a regard for our political leaders in Congress ;-) - mediablitz, on 02/06/2009, -2/+6A concerted effort by the Diggers of the right to hide this, hoping no one notices.
- homercles337, on 02/06/2009, -2/+6The right is generally confused until they turn on their rabid right-wing hate radio or Faux News that tells them how to think.
BTW, i am an academic and have a phd, but do not view Obama as "leftist." He is very right of center. - Anomaly100, on 02/07/2009, -2/+6The Repubs are going to block the President at every turn. Seems to me all of this is clearly intentional. They lose the election, so they all got together in the basement of their Mom's house and talked about blocking the Pres at every single turn. This way, Obama doesn't really preside. This is juvenile and they have forgotten how these poor judgment calls, affect us.
- Firstdaughter, on 02/07/2009, -4/+8For the first time in my life I'm actually proud of an elected official...
How does that make me a sheep? You didn't see me voting for Bush in either election bc I wasn't drinking the fear-mongering cool-aid.
Instead my decision to vote for and endorse our president is based upon substantial review, not personal bias. - novenator, on 02/07/2009, -2/+6bump
- jericho4119, on 02/06/2009, -3/+6We can forgive your ignorance for not blindly following any politician, but we can never forgive your ignorance for not reading the bill for yourself.

You do have responsibilities as a citizen. - phenry, on 02/07/2009, -1/+3We will find out soon enough who the idiots are..... I'm not worried.
- Rixar13, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1President Obama is Awesome and I am so inspired by his pragmatic articulate leadership.
- Njon, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1You mean the Patriot Act that Obama voted to renew?
Change we can deceive in! - homercles337, on 02/07/2009, -3/+4Peter Schiff? Is that the best you can do? Really? I dont think the right has bottomed out on their idiocy yet.
- homercles337, on 02/07/2009, -3/+4The stupid is strong with this one.
- novenator, on 02/08/2009, -0/+1webxl, if you look at the world political spectrum, Obama is actually center right. It's only in America where the political spectrum has shifted so far to the right during the last 30 years that he *appears* to be center-left.
That said, I have a whole lot of respect for the man and hope he can get people working again and the economy back on track. - Njon, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1Peter Schiff predicted the economic collapse long in advance. He's way more advanced than globalist NWO puppet president Barry Obama.
- inactive, on 02/07/2009, -5/+6I've dugg and buried the hell out of this one, and let me say this:
The Dems pissed off this old liberal by throwing things in the stimulus package that weren't necessary, let alone stimulus...NEA, STD testing, contraceptives, etc. Come on, man. I think it was Claire McCaskill who spoke to this after stupid ol' me came to that conclusion on my own. I looked at that bill. And I've commented on it on digg before. There was a lot of ***** in there that was unnecessary. Period. It's like the House Dems thought to themselves they'd toss whatever they could in there and see what lasted through the senate and the second round in the house. The ol' "throw the kitchen sink at them and see what sticks" tactic that pissed off so many Obama supporters during the primaries and presidential race.
It was as if they did it because they wanted revenge. They wanted to hilight pet projects and soap box issues. I'm so angry about the way the dems wrote the bill I can't even comment on it logically right now.
I will say this. Both the sides of the aisle in our house are acting like children. Real people like you and I are out here hoping we don't lose our jobs, or we get that job for which we just interviewed, or we can get through a winter of heating bills, or that gas prices go down again. We, the real people in this nation, are really hurting, republican and democrat, and those house ***** are acting like children. - Anomaly100, on 02/07/2009, -3/+3And it's all over sour grapes. We had to deal with Rove and his cohorts for 8 yrs, yet the President hasn't even been in office for 5 minutes and they're screaming, "where's the chaaannnnggge??" They don't want bipartisan? I don't know if I do either anymore. It's like we're pleading with them NOT give in to any of our terms, just theirs. "Please, please, let's do a lot of things that will just rock my conscience!" I could live without this.
- GovernmentSp00k, on 02/06/2009, -5/+4LOL!
- webXL, on 02/06/2009, -4/+3Kinak- I think his point is that we won't know where it's going until after the fact. It's kinda hard to get it back at that point. It's not a huge improvement of what we have right now. We can easily tell government is full of wasteful spending. TARP, Iraq, lead the world in education and health care spending... medicare and SS going bankrupt. You don't need a website to see how messed up government is.
freedomjoe- Bonuses were $18.4 Billion and mostly in firms that weren't recipients of any bailout money. They were down 40% from 2007, and strangely enough, city tax revenue was down a lot too! So continue to wage class warfare, and see where you'll end up. - Njon, on 02/09/2009, -3/+1More like, "Obama further destroys economy with stimulus bill."
- webXL, on 02/06/2009, -5/+2homercles337- what's your PhD in? Does it have anything to do with economics or political science? What in the world makes Obama right of center?
Who told you how to think? - webXL, on 02/06/2009, -8/+4BAAAAAAAAAAA!
- phenry, on 02/07/2009, -10/+5The "stimulus" is economic idiocy!
http://finance.yahoo.com/tech-ticker/article/16978 ... - inactive, on 02/06/2009, -13/+5Obstruction is reading the 680-page bill on the Senate floor? Obstruction is spending money we don't have and going further into debt to do it? Obstruction is asking for a stimulus that hits now instead of 2-3 years down the road? Obstruction is not wanting the government's tentacles in my business? The Republicans finally get a spine and now they are obstructing. I see. Don't let anyone try to derail the Pork Barrel Express.
- DrDiggles, on 02/06/2009, -13/+2This guy can talk... But so can used car salesman. Time will tell whether this guy is good or just some deuche bag.

What is Digg?
