- novenator, on 04/09/2009, -23/+216This proves it! He IS a radical jihadist satanist muslim terrist
- redsoc, on 04/09/2009, -32/+166He showed a bit of respect to his host. What's the big deal again?
- ceredron, on 04/09/2009, -26/+151I love how everyone assumes the bow means deference, like it does in Western Culture. In Asiatic culture, often enough the "bow" signifies respect and greeting.
Way to be culture insensitive, guess where this took place, and who was involved. Do you know about customs when greeting a Saudi King? Somehow I don't think Obama's the first or the last world leader who does so.
Freaking crazies jumping out everywhere.... - inactive, on 04/09/2009, -37/+150He was just ducking in case someone was going to throw a shoe.
- SirBruce, on 04/09/2009, -13/+1141. Obama bowed.
2. Bush also bowed (yes, there is video out there).
3. Lots of US officials have bowed. John Adams even bowed the King George III as our first Ambassdor to Great Britain after the Revolutionary War. - normlsparky, on 04/09/2009, -29/+115At least he didn't kiss the guy like W would have.
- mediablitz, on 04/09/2009, -27/+111Bush sr., Bush jr., Cheney and Rumsfeld all completely support the Saudi's, turning a blind eye to all the social injustice in the country (as long as they keep sending us the oil!), and that is just fine.Rape victims flogged and sent to prison? Just send oil.
But Obama appearing to bow as a courtesy is something the right just can't deal with?
How is that minority party working out for you? Because hypocrisy like this non-story is sending you further into obscurity. - allowners, on 04/09/2009, -26/+92The people driving around in big-ass SUVs bow down to the Saudis every day. Look, here is a picture of your ambassador:

- itsradBrad, on 04/09/2009, -5/+60The evidence is irrefutable.
/s - wtrwlkr, on 04/09/2009, -2/+48Atheist muslim
- bovox, on 04/09/2009, -6/+52Oh don't burden these neocons with stupid things like facts and truth. It's like kryptonite to them.
- Rudegar, on 04/09/2009, -2/+45communist too :O
- rileyhallwood, on 04/09/2009, -12/+52GAWD DAMMIT THE US DO'T BOW TO NO ONE DEW WE??
NRA! BILL O'REILLY!!! PRO LIFE!!!! - vagrantwade, on 04/09/2009, -16/+56So he bowed? And we are bitching why? I'm sure the King himself thought nothing of it. But naturally we have to bitch.
- watermelonnz, on 04/09/2009, -22/+58How was showing respect dumb? Even if thats not what it means, thats how he would have intended it.
In conclusion you're dumb. - Jareth86, on 04/09/2009, -14/+46Its called "Respect". You show it to foreign leaders, especially when they have the financial future of your country by the balls. Somehow, I get this strange feeling that, had he not bowed, the headline would have read "Obama shows great disrespect and inexperience by forgetting to bow!"
- vagrantwade, on 04/09/2009, -2/+33Someone already said that in the actual article.
- Jeepy, on 04/09/2009, -10/+39*Phony outrage ensues
Why do I get a feeling White House aide speaking anonymously means some guy in the lobby who was actually willing to talk to us. - inactive, on 04/09/2009, -2/+29socialist
- manosinistra, on 04/09/2009, -21/+47Yup, showing respect, something we kinda lost touch with...
- manosinistra, on 04/09/2009, -21/+46Humbleness or humiliation.
Being humble, bowing takes nothing away from you, it paradoxically gives you height.
Not wanting to bow (to whatever) makes you a victim of humiliation, you're open to shamefulness and guilt.
Being humble and responsible is definitely a more adult posture than being worried about pride/shame, being right/guilty...
Bloated minds will try to attack on apparently insignificant details: fact is this very detail shows the man's superiority as a human being, period. - BooLag, on 04/23/2009, -8/+29Ah, gone are the days of Bush where this would have gone unnoticed next to groping the German Chancellor...
- allowners, on 04/09/2009, -3/+24So what's with the French kiss here?
http://www.hermes-press.com/BushSaud.htm - Azriel7, on 04/09/2009, -9/+28Isn't this the guy that bush HELD HANDS with?
- novenator, on 04/09/2009, -12/+31Well, this is really a non-issue fragowell. It's just another silly thing that the right wing will pounce on to try and make Obama look like a fool. I agree that his handlers should come right out with it and say "oops", but it was meant a sign of respect.
Personally, there have been some successful Obama bashing threads on Digg lately, so only time will tell what will happen to the first category of comments. The Bush-bashing comments, always guaranteed to be dugg, I know I do. :) - PaulRay, on 04/09/2009, -6/+23By "Kiss", I assume you mean, stick his nose as far up his ass as it will go.
- allowners, on 04/09/2009, -4/+21That's true, if you're going to be a waste, may as well take it to its limit of absurdity and be a complete waste.
- Jordan117, on 04/09/2009, -25/+40The faux outrage surrounding this non-issue is breathtaking in its hypocrisy.
President Obama gives an inadequate gift to Prime Minister Brown? OMG WHY ISN'T OBAMA ACCORDING FOREIGN LEADERS WITH DUE RESPECT?!?!! AMATEUR HOUR LOLOLOL
Michelle Obama touches Queen Elizabeth II slightly on the arm? ZOMG HOW DARE SHE BRAZENLY DISRESPECT ROYALTY LIKE THAT WHAT A MORAN
But! Obama bows to a Saudi royal? WTF WHY IS OUR PRESIDENT DEBASING AMERICA BY KOWTOWING TO THIS ***** NOBODY???! RAAAAAAAGE
And, in an alternate universe where Obama didn't bow: 0BAMA REFUSED TO BOW TO THE KING, WHAT A DUMASS!!!! NOW OUR GAS PRICES WILL SKYROCKET -- THANKS ALOT BARRY!?!?!? - inactive, on 04/09/2009, -9/+24Bow before Zod son of Jor-El!
- pardonmedoug, on 04/09/2009, -11/+26Who cares?
-Who Cares Guy - Jordan117, on 04/09/2009, -1/+15That kissing picture is photoshopped. I don't like Bush, but fair's fair.
- allowners, on 04/09/2009, -3/+17Fragowell: Check yourself, you've been dipped in your ideology for far too long when you mistake lack of the same for ideology.
- Elranzer, on 04/09/2009, -12/+26Obama bowing to a foreign leader out of respect is a NON-issue. But if we're going to be making it an issue, never forget Bush holding hands with the Saudis:
http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=george ...
And before you Republican retards say "Bush holding hands with the Saudis" is a non-issue, you'd better make Obama's bowing a non-issue. You can't have it both ways (but I KNOW you want to).
This is why Republicans are now the joke of the entire world. - flammablewater, on 04/09/2009, -0/+13I ONLY BOW TO RUPERT MURDOCH!!!!!!111!!2
- Jordan117, on 04/09/2009, -1/+14He bowed for the Pope:
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg145/2tuff2006 ... - fxu1989, on 04/09/2009, -0/+13RUSH!!!
- brianmitchell, on 04/09/2009, -0/+13DEY TOOK ER JERBS
- plingboot, on 04/09/2009, -2/+14But his host wasn't the Saudi King.
This was an informal gathering during the recent London summit, a half assed bow to a Saudi wouldn't show respect to the Queen of England. These guys were just hanging out, he might well have high fived him and no-one there would've cared. - opticwind, on 04/09/2009, -3/+15Um, how about "everyone that drives a car". The difference between not driving and driving, compared to the difference between someone with a small car and an SUV is ridiculous.
- SolitaireRose, on 04/09/2009, -2/+14Oh...Bush actually did:
Pics: http://wonkette.com/407662/wingnuts-angry-that-oba ... - inactive, on 04/09/2009, -15/+27So what.. just showing some respect to a King . He did the same with the Queen in Britain..
- jsmith39, on 04/09/2009, -4/+16Dammit, and I voted for the guy! *****.. Mommy, does that mean I'm a Godless red heathen too?
- inactive, on 04/09/2009, -11/+23Given our history (we broke from a king after all), the principles written into (and left out of) our constitution, and our resultant political culture (we have no respect for state-bestowed titles), I think it our duty to disrespect all stripe of nobility and royalty. I mean, I find it absurd and ridiculous in the extreme that, in the 21st century, there are still monarchies (to whatever degree they are figureheads or not) on this planet. Now, I'm not saying our leaders shouldn't be civil to their leaders (or that our relations should be uncivil); rather, I'm only saying that we should feel no obligation whatsoever to obey their rules of respect, reverence, or address (bowing, curtsying, HRH, etc.).
- inactive, on 04/09/2009, -3/+14They rubbed junk in private.
- inactive, on 04/09/2009, -1/+12ah, suck it, douchey.
- barc0001, on 04/09/2009, -1/+11Sure they do. That's why Saudi Arabia, the country where 15 of the 9/11 hijackers came from, and the homeland of bin Laden suffered the US wrath so terribly the last 8 years. That invasion and overthrow of the princes was pretty brutal, I will admit. And seizing the bin Laden group's assets was pretty wicked too.
Oh, you mean NONE of that happened? Imagine that. - inactive, on 04/09/2009, -4/+14Au contraire. Bowing is a sign of respect and greeting, just like shaking hands. Are you saying the POTUS shouldn't respect people?
- allowners, on 04/09/2009, -6/+16No, addressing the issue at its source.
- Batfishy, on 04/09/2009, -10/+20Fragwell - It's not always about you or America. Get over it.
