- tinko, on 01/31/2008, -7/+180So is Obama a Mac or PC?
- ganymede2010, on 01/31/2008, -5/+122Being from Silicon Valley I can tell you that most of the CEO's are Liberals. That's why you can wear shorts, and flip flops to work, all while making 100k+ per year. Gates and Jobs were the pioneers of that movement. Thank god, because wearing a suit and tie to work everyday sucks!
- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -2/+80Obama's a uniter, not a divider.
He will forge macs into pcs and there will be just one mega computer that has no viruses and is full of games. And there shall be downloading, so much downloading. - wc3452, on 01/31/2008, -3/+50I dunno about that. Gates has said that the wealthy should pay higher taxes. I think he's always been a democrat and the fact that he donates so much of his money.
- hmunkey, on 01/31/2008, -12/+52Glad that Jobs did this. I always knew Bill Gates would have been Democrat, mostly because he is a major philanthropist.
- nationalist, on 01/31/2008, -2/+41a lot of poor people voted for bush, but he wasn't nice to them
- martalli, on 01/31/2008, -2/+38His main website runs PWS. The my.barackobama.com website runs Apache. Obama himself...probably has people.
- NyteStarNyne, on 01/31/2008, -5/+39Jobs wouldn't be too pleased if Obama got in the White House. Then Apple would be banned from releasing a new iPod right after we just bought the last version.
- USAOwnz, on 01/31/2008, -3/+36He's Running on Mac OS X, running Windows on parallels, with a Linux Live CD in the tray.
- Gabberwok, on 01/31/2008, -3/+27I don't think it's the moderators. I think it's just that there is more diverse support for the Obama articles than there was for the Ron Paul ones originally. Those were mainly due to a very hardcore but relatively small group of people that voted as a block. Obama's supporters don't take it quite as seriously but digg articles they're interested in, and the new algorithm favors that kind of casual interest over the intentional pushing of articles that was happening for Ron Paul.
- ZenMojo, on 01/31/2008, -0/+19Powered on pixie dust and dreams with fans that mimic the sound of Jenaveve Jolie's orgasm.
- TyroPyro, on 01/31/2008, -2/+21Gates is in a unique position as the worlds wealthiest individual, I think we simplify him way too much.
The fact he made the maximum allowable $2300 donation as early as June says something about how strongly he supports Obama. - drakethegreat, on 01/31/2008, -4/+22What the hell are you talking about? Gates has always been a Democrat. Whats even more sad is that people believed you based on nothing. It appears even digg users are willing to believe any random guy's comments. To prove my point and not be like the guy above here is my source for showing that its absolute ***** that Bill Gates is a Bush Lover.
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1282/is_2_5 ... - VeganG, on 01/31/2008, -3/+20The traditional definition of "conservative" doesn't really apply anymore. Nowadays it just means "cold-hearted *****."
- YoctoYotta, on 01/31/2008, -0/+16Hey, I'm a cold hearted *****, I take offense at being lumped in with the likes of conservative Republicans.
- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -6/+21that settles it! obama.
- kaelyiesta, on 01/31/2008, -0/+12Some, but the definition of a republican has changed a lot recently. Power of choice to the people seems to be something neither side believes in any more.
- pintomp3, on 01/31/2008, -0/+12no, they demonize the poor and underprivileged as lazy and "welfare queens driving a cadillac". they seem to be under the delusion that every child is born with the same opportunities and there for are to blame for all their failings.
- pintomp3, on 01/31/2008, -5/+17obama is ubuntu.
- Dundasbro, on 01/31/2008, -3/+14Nah I think that would be Ron Paul, only you should add "The OS barely anyone uses or is aware of outside of a small amount of the internet community".
- chingy1788, on 01/31/2008, -3/+13yes cause we all know WILSON ROTHMAN is gates's alias
- e36wheelman, on 01/31/2008, -5/+15Hey Kennedy, cool it. This is DIgg, not your inaugural address.
- SACubeMonkey, on 01/31/2008, -1/+10You guys should probably actually read the article. There is a correction stating that the William Gates listed is actually Bill Gates' father. Also, I don't see how this article is even relevant in the first place. These paltry contributions coming from multi-million dollar households hardly amounts to anything.
- ssj2119, on 01/31/2008, -2/+11Gates and Jobs... doesn't this sum up the Digg community?
- fstorino, on 01/31/2008, -0/+9Right, one of Obama's Top Ten campaign promises on David Letterman...
- ImYourRealDad, on 01/31/2008, -3/+11Shame on whoever 'shopped that photo. Shame.
- SovereignGFC, on 01/31/2008, -0/+8To all those whining about spam or some conspiracy theory: Just asking, but what would happen if they supported Ron Paul? Assuming you're a Ron Paul supporter this wouldn't be "spam" at all but now that supporters of other candidates are free to show their colors without being labeled "fascists," "CFR whores" and whatever other drivel the more negative of you come up with, they are showing their faces.
- HappyProgrammer, on 01/31/2008, -0/+8> Who supports Hillary? Anyone?
Nobody with a brain. That's for sure. - diggB, on 01/31/2008, -0/+8FTA. "Update: We have been informed that the William Gates referred to in the database is actually Bill's father. No other William Gates has donated any money to any candidate, and Melinda Gates is listed only as donating to the Microsoft PAC."
Guess Bill's dad is for Obama, but Bill himself has decided to stay on the sidelines. - 0xception, on 01/31/2008, -1/+9... do you realize you just made that comment on someone's post who was tauting linux OS? ... it sounds like you mis posted this. and if not... WTF are you talking about?
- IndigoMoss, on 01/31/2008, -2/+9As long as I can use my own hardware, I'm totally for that.
- bloodorange, on 01/31/2008, -4/+11Why? Because Mac is supposed to be young, hip and cool? You've been watching too many Mac commercials.
- slvrbullet87, on 01/31/2008, -0/+7No you wouldnt just say for security you must have top of the line gaming computer, and the 40 inch wrap around monitor. You have to be trained in TF2 to understand what the joint chiefs are saying
- ibone, on 01/31/2008, -21/+28Ron Paul = Fail
- xceptionaly, on 01/31/2008, -0/+7That limit is a good thing. It stops megacorporations from dumping all of the money they can afford into their chosen candidate that will benefit them the most. A number of people in these comments have already pulled the "corporate interests have already decided the election" card. Imagine how much worse it could be.
- blackmage439, on 01/31/2008, -0/+7Well, Obama does seem to be the candidate most in touch with today's technology. All the other candidates perceive technology as either new fangled gizmos of the devil, or as just a tool to further their own interests.
- GawtMilk, on 01/31/2008, -1/+8He's not the worlds wealthiest individual. Carlos Slimm from Mexico is.
- hokie47, on 01/31/2008, -0/+7If I was president I would have a sweet computer system in the oval office. I would force leaders of other countries to look around my two 24" LCDs when talking to me. Then I would get an dedicated OC-192 line at the tax payers expense. I would be impeached within weeks.
- edblaze, on 01/31/2008, -0/+6Republicans (most) believe you should work for your needs and you shouldn't get free handouts.
- destro713, on 01/31/2008, -1/+7Of course Jobs is a Democrat, he's a lifelong super liberal. He said so in his blog.
- ZenMojo, on 01/31/2008, -4/+10I can't say I'm THAT surprised.
- TyroPyro, on 01/31/2008, -1/+7You should probably just uncheck World and Business
- glimp7, on 01/31/2008, -0/+6Wasn't one of Obama's top ten on Letterman to stop Apple from releasing new iPods the day after you get the last one?
- doyadigg, on 01/31/2008, -6/+12Being a philanthropist doesn't mean your are going to be a Democrat. Conservatives are usually the ones organizing charities and the left is usually trying to get government to fund programs that act as charities. The big difference is where the money comes from. The right wants people to have a choice and donate the money while the left seems to want to force it through taxes. When Gates donates billions of his own money, he made a choice and gets props for it. When Bono convinces governments to tax citizens and give that money to people in Africa, the choice of the people has been removed. That is why the right doesn't like it, because politicians removed the choice while still getting props from the media for doing it. Why give Bono the credit? He's not the one coughing up the billions.
Then look at churches. People (mostly conservatives) will donate time and money to keep a soup kitchen going or a shelter. They don't want the government running welfare programs not because they don't care about the poor, but because they would rather keep the choice of where the money comes from since it's their money.
Both people on the right and on the left equally care about causes and helping people. Where they differ is having the choice to donate money or have the government mandate it and threaten jail time and fines if they don't comply. - digitdean, on 01/31/2008, -2/+8Sorry to ruin your moment of reverse fanboyism, but he was talking about Linux.
- mateo60, on 01/31/2008, -0/+6@bluezinc
I wish your comment was at the top of the list. = ) - EricPeters, on 01/31/2008, -2/+8No, we need Kevin Rose too.
- MadKennyP, on 01/31/2008, -0/+5Does he have a cape?
- kaelyiesta, on 01/31/2008, -0/+5Obama does have more interest in technology(at least publicly) than most other candidates. Some of his statements lead me to believe that while it might be too much to say he is a technocrat, he would be favorable to that industry, possibly sponsoring some tax breaks, government deals and such.
- midejitsu, on 01/31/2008, -3/+8Huh? “esecutive” is how it showed up on the donation’s listing. Wilson Rothman accurately quoted and pointed out the miss-spelling. Maybe the Firefox/spell check suggestion is not so far fetched after all.
