Given that he was one of only 3 doctors in the country willing to risk his safety in order to perform this somewhat rare procedure, Tiller probably received referrals from hundreds of other doctors nation-wide with patients who either had severely deformed fetuses or were in some way endangered if they carried the pregnancy to full-term. Operation Rescue's legal cases against Tiller failed consistently because he was able to demonstrate a legitimate medical need to perform the late-term abortions. Sure, O'Reilly is opposed to abortion, but since he didn't have a legal case against Tiller, he instead chose to repeatedly and simplistically portray the man as a baby-killer. Words have consequences as we can now see.

In 1986, a bomb was detonated on the roof of his clinic; August of 1993 brought more violence as he was shot in both arms. Why you blame O'Reilly is beyond me. There has always been evidence of deep hated of Dr. Tiller.
