- retawd, on 10/30/2007, -16/+179O'Reilly saying something inflammatory AND inaccurate? No WAY!
- Calann, on 10/27/2007, -8/+117Most of O'Reilly's studies only exist in his imagination.
- SheilaNoya, on 10/28/2007, -12/+87The vast majority of American citizens are "anti-American" according to FOX News and the NeoClowns. Amazing.
- whatthefu, on 10/28/2007, -7/+51Stop giving O'Reilly attention. He has not paid his country back, he is just trying to divide people. And we're all helping him.
- inactive, on 10/27/2007, -8/+39Come on, we all know he's right. Learning is un-American.
- internetcoward, on 10/28/2007, -6/+34The only unamerican people are people like bill oreilly who wish to keep america in a stagnant and uninspiring state for it's citizens.
- Bdog2g2, on 10/26/2007, -0/+25Don't give him that much credit.
- inactive, on 10/27/2007, -2/+27Left-wing does not mean Anti-American, it is as Patriotic as Right-wing, they just have different viewpoints on the subject, to the right, steady as she goes is patriotic, to the left, extreme change is patriotic, neither are wrong, but neither are really right either.
I'm not gonna say my affiliation, as I'm not here to plug a party or candidate, I just want to say that both the left, and the right need to understand that in order for America to be America, an equal amount of understanding in both views is required, America always has, and hopefully, always will be about equal representation for all sides of an argument and comprimise between these arguments. overwhelming a child with one side of the coin merely prevents them from being receptive to the other side, it stunts their political ideals and forces them into a community that they might not whole-heartidly agree with, but is the only thing they've ever been taught.
I'm not a parent, but I do intend to become one, and I intend to teach my child what both sides stand for and belive, even if it means when s/he is of voting age we end up getting into fiery debates over politics. Its what this country is based on. - J3yrad, on 10/27/2007, -10/+33I believe it's a good thing that teachers DO bring a non-American viewpoint. Gets the younger generation to think more and check their facts. My history/social studies teacher almost always gives us both sides of the story when it comes to government.
- jmpeagle, on 10/27/2007, -5/+27let's face it...Americans are for the most part anti-American. Therefore the only thing we can do to stop this is invade ourselves.
- AriaStar, on 10/27/2007, -9/+31O'Reilly is anti-American. If others can't say what they want, then he's also hypocritical.
- levharrisr, on 10/26/2007, -1/+22REPORTER: What's your favorite thing about America?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE 1: A broken, manipulative, sensationalist, anti-intellectual, profit driven media.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE 2: LOL! - Gabberwok, on 10/29/2007, -6/+25Let's see... teachers are highly-educated, yet go into a career that is very poorly-reimbursed. Clearly they are Communists and therefore anti-American.
- marmanukem, on 10/27/2007, -2/+20Not meaning any offense at all, but I find that to be a surprising statement from someone with the stars and bars as their icon. I guess that stereotypes isn't completely true.
- cranium, on 10/27/2007, -3/+20Critical thinking is nobody's enemy.
- stupidverizon, on 11/02/2007, -5/+21Did you guys even watch the whole video? I mean, yes he says some stupid things but he brings up a good point as well. Kids don't care. Having recently just turned 18, I can safely say that's true. Most teenagers I know don't care at all. Yes I believe education is partly responsible for that as well. I talked to a friend and his high school did not require any kind of civics course to graduation, and once you get to college, kids are even less likely to take one unless it's part of their major or they have to take it. I don't think O'Reilly was talking about indoctrination or anything like that. It's not just about joining the army. It's also about taking part in the democratic process. Most kids I know aren't even planning to vote. Most people I talked to said they would rather leave the country than have to defend it should something happen. Being an immigrant myself, that actually concerns me.
I agree the very beggining of that video was stupid, but at the end he brings up a good point. - ricree, on 10/27/2007, -2/+18That's only remotely true if you twist the definition of anti-American beyond all definition. Criticism of government policy, for one thing, is certainly not anti-American. We all have a duty to ensure that our country is behaving in an acceptable manner. When we don't think something is right, then it is our patriotic duty to ensure that things change.
- Gigabutt, on 10/27/2007, -4/+18Actually, whenever I go to a bookstore, I make sure I find O'Reilly's books and hide em behind some other books. Yea, I'm a rebel.
- inactive, on 10/27/2007, -5/+19Oh gosh, I'm so shocked. Come on, he's just doing it for attention - he says something shocking and inflammatory, and that means more ratings. Personally, I think it's disgusting, but hey, that's capitalism for you, he's found his niche.
- Rodman930, on 10/27/2007, -1/+14I went to a mostly conservative College and many of the students would complain about how much of a bleeding heart liberal one of our Military History professors was. It turned out, he was one of the most conservative people in the department (and he was also a Major in the US army). The only thing he did to get the label of 'liberal' was to teach history the way it happened and not the way most conservatives wanted to hear it. People on the right seem to live in there own little bubbles where they get to decide what facts are true.
- darny, on 10/27/2007, -5/+16Dear Bill,
Anti-administration != Anti-American.
Please learn to make that distinction.
Signed,
Everyone - haiduz, on 10/27/2007, -4/+15Well lets see, the number one most dangerous organization in america, media matters, is defending the number two most dangerous organization, Universities and Colleges.
How you can guys be so blind to this libelous liberal bias!

- Racerx52, on 10/27/2007, -1/+12If you aren't right, Talk louder
- guestaccount, on 10/27/2007, -1/+11The America we try to save is not their America.
- FallenWings, on 10/27/2007, -6/+16Worthless troll. Please spare us.
- guestaccount, on 10/27/2007, -2/+11And 1/3 of us are insane.
-Beck - TGMD, on 10/27/2007, -6/+14What a dumb statement, most teachers don't have an anti-american viewpoint. Although, in the interest of fairness I did have quite a few who did. We all know the types, neo-hippie types.
But on the same coin I've also had nationalistic pro-america teachers who are about a half inch away from dressing up in an american flag and instituting facism...
Neither are good.... Teachers should be apolitical - inactive, on 10/27/2007, -4/+12well when you get a large group of educated people together it dosnt surprise me if they disagree with O'Reilly
- Oronar, on 10/27/2007, -1/+9Do you honestly want pics of that?
- kirstpo, on 10/27/2007, -4/+12I believe most teachers, are highly educated and understand the ridiculousness of the current US government. I also believe O'Reilly and the like need to stop labeling left-wingers and anti-American people. Honestly, anybody that even so much as disagrees with people like O'Reilly are somehow automatically a liberal or anti-american. They even label people that want to decrease the role of federal government and foreign US occupation as liberals when those ideas are traditionally conservative viewpoints.
- krd1979, on 10/27/2007, -2/+9Excellent post. Thank you for providing a neutral statement that is actually thoughtful and encouraging of more productive conversation.
- Takteek, on 10/27/2007, -1/+8So if the majority of American's are anti-American, doesn't that redefine "American" and make the neo-cons the anti-American ones?
- Tivor, on 10/27/2007, -2/+9That actually explains a lot of things.....
Habeas corpus.... Wire taps..... - Thuktun, on 10/27/2007, -1/+8Also, I hear we have weapons of mass destruction and aren't afraid to use them.
- pintomp3, on 10/27/2007, -2/+8yeah, his words reach millions at a time.
- InsaneMachine, on 10/26/2007, -0/+6I know at my high school, people hated taking civics.
- BeefBaron, on 10/27/2007, -3/+9What nobility?
America is just another arbitrary line on a map, like all the other nations. - Thuktun, on 10/27/2007, -1/+6It says "a most liberal lot" not "a most anti-American lot". Equating the two makes you sound like a fugitive from the late 1960s.
- masterm1nd, on 10/26/2007, -4/+9A teaching position is a little bit different than a news commentator.
- exomni, on 10/27/2007, -1/+6Conservatives: "AVOID ALL INTELLIGENT AND EDUCATED PEOPLE! THEY ALL HATE AMERICA!"
- cl1tcommander, on 10/27/2007, -6/+11As a teacher who is personally disappointed with our country's current political and global turmoil, I believe it be a crime NOT to tell students what is wrong with this country. I believe this to be the greatest country on the planet, but I'm not going to sugar-coat the truth to my students. And yes, I'm an educator with the screen name "cl1tcommander". Lol!
- starlitdays, on 10/27/2007, -1/+6But, you know, we didn't do a study, we just...you know, pulled ***** from his target audience.
- Acewrap, on 10/27/2007, -2/+7No, but we figured out that you are.
- shakenbrain, on 10/27/2007, -2/+7uh, the vast majority of 'libs' aren't anti-american...
- MonarchWastxD, on 10/27/2007, -1/+5Must... attack... self... Yah! Have at you vile american! USA! USA! USA!
/sarcasm. - Bdog2g2, on 10/27/2007, -1/+5You uncovered an Error Page. They're obviously hiding something, good work.
BTW: I trust the washingpost way more than O'Liely. - krnldmp, on 10/27/2007, -5/+9Most teachers bring in an anti-***** American viewpoint. There's a big difference.
- pintomp3, on 10/27/2007, -6/+10so the more educated you are, the more likely you are to be liberal in your outlook?
- gtluke, on 10/27/2007, -7/+11uh, i just got finished with college, 95% of my teachers were huge libs.
