- meshman, on 12/18/2007, -6/+74Maybe they should ban the use of the caps lock key first.
- Munkey106, on 12/18/2007, -2/+55DIGG TO BAN OF BAD GRAMMAR?
- inactive, on 12/18/2007, -1/+49I hope vote manipulation gets a LOT of airplay in the primaries.
- inactive, on 12/18/2007, -2/+42Dr. Dre, banned from Ohio? Damn.
- aliengoods, on 12/18/2007, -1/+25WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. THIS IS MUCH EASIER THAN HOLDING THE SHIFT KEY.
But it does make me look like and obnoxious *****. - nblsavage, on 12/18/2007, -1/+25Man...I forgot about DRE
- Proctor, on 12/18/2007, -3/+24Diebold is controlled by Bilderberg.
- cespee, on 12/18/2007, -0/+20At least you get a written receipt when you buy a chalupa at Taco Bell.
- wonderchemist, on 12/18/2007, -1/+18It won't unless hackers are smart enough to make a 3rd party candidate win.
- inactive, on 12/18/2007, -18/+31DIGG ME DOWN!
- NewGTGuy, on 12/18/2007, -0/+12There is ZERO audit trail.
Can you say:
update Election
set Votes = 1000000
where Candidate = 'neocon *****' - inactive, on 12/18/2007, -0/+11Quote: Diebold CEO promises Ohio to Bush http://www.boingboing.net/2004/11/03/quote-of-the- ...
- Frostman3D, on 12/18/2007, -1/+10I hope they ban all computerized voting equipment.
- Snarfy, on 12/18/2007, -0/+9I know, and I dugg you up, but most people don't have a clue what that means.
- Mononuclear, on 12/18/2007, -0/+8except I always order a Gordita and they give me a Chalupa instead. Sometimes the receipt has the Gordita on it, and sometimes it has a Chalupa on it.
- inactive, on 12/18/2007, -1/+8I am rooting for something like a Duncan Hunter 77% win in a primary. A percent or two swing among front runners will just keep the bitching alive, nothing more.
- inactive, on 12/18/2007, -0/+6Correct me if I am mistaken, but in any state that uses Electronic voting machines, can't you request to vote on a paper ballot?

Here's an InnerTube news parody on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEP3E4QQvUk
- NewGTGuy, on 12/18/2007, -0/+5They also use Microsoft Access for their local database.
- Sonizel, on 12/18/2007, -0/+5Dre is a true pioneer of rap.
- jaymzdean, on 12/18/2007, -0/+5We're still using paper money and counting by hand with no problems, what's wrong with paper ballots, hand counted?
- ngmcs8203, on 12/18/2007, -0/+4Whenever I read a headline, or anything for that matter, with all caps it reminds me of the Weekend Update skit when Will Ferrell's character talks about voice immodulation.
- treas, on 12/18/2007, -1/+5I thought Ohio wanted to ban Dr. Dre
- bebop717, on 12/18/2007, -0/+4I may not be a fan of rap but still…your retarded. It's like saying collage is not art because they don't shoot all those photos.
- PerriF, on 12/18/2007, -0/+3What's amusing is that voters of a "certain age" will be quite confused..what a shame!
- RickyBennett, on 12/18/2007, -0/+3dugg for me living in ohio
- joltjake, on 12/18/2007, -0/+3Good, those are unsecure as *****.
- tendonut, on 12/18/2007, -0/+3Whenever I read a headline, or anything for that matter, with all caps it reminds me of stupid 6th graders trying to sound like what they have to say is important.
- RickyBennett, on 12/18/2007, -0/+2un thay are being hacked not by taking it about moding it then calling it hacked but hacked the real way via software and codes and memory card that are in them
- mOdQuArK, on 12/18/2007, -1/+3Ask the hanging chads & mismarked bubbles. Using a machine to generate a ballot isn't a bad idea. Using machines to count the ballots is.
- silentphoenix, on 12/18/2007, -0/+2i like the fact that theres more attention to the title than the article itself
- FlyCO, on 12/18/2007, -0/+2Most of states at Brazil use a similar voting system.
oh ***** - mrASSMAN, on 12/18/2007, -0/+2since when do they run windows?
- inactive, on 12/18/2007, -1/+3Dugg down for not using any caps.
- Yage2006, on 12/18/2007, -0/+2PUTTING THE TITLE IN ALL CAPS IS ***** LAME. IT DOES NOT MAKE ME WANT TO READ OR DIGG IT.
FOR THIS I WILL LOOK AT THE POSTERS HISTORY ON DIGG AND BURY EVERY ONE OF HIS SUBMISSIONS.
BURIED!!!!!!!!! - stealthc, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1You know, I see all this crap about e-voting machines and how hackable they are, and how they're penetrating our electoral process anyway, and I think maybe we need to throw Diebold machines into the Boston harbor.
- tendonut, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Thats a bad example. The artist still has to create the collage, even if the photos were not taken by themselves.
- ladalang, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1What I'm confused about is the fact that these voting machines were Bush's brain child to steal the elections. Why isn't Diebold being sued for crimes against Americans and why are we thinking about getting rid of them when we know they are rigging elections? Why does this require any thought ***** dump them yesterday.
- Niubai, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1Brazil has electronic voting system since what ? 1996 ? And the system is safe, never went on trouble or raised questions about vote safety and legitimate one single time.
- GoKings, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1Yeah, but everyone does computers these days. Most people are drawn to the simple format, the graphics that help you understand what to do (this is aimed at you Florida), and just the relative coolness of using a touch screen computer. (I know... But old folks don't get to use this stuff often)
- snatchmstr, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1Like there won't be any fraud if people have to manually count ballots.
- seraph582, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1But nothin comes out when they move they lips, just a bunch of gibberish - the ***** act like they forgot about Dre.
- toasty168, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1as soon as someone does, whoreperate media will hand them a tin foil hat.
- jodofashodo, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1I killed Dre
- peaceofpie, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1I think when they count by hand there are members of all parties to judge the votes. How can anyone look at what is inside of a computer?
- joltjake, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1Meh, depends. The elections are all rigged anyways. Ex: Bush.....
- inactive, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1If electronic voting is the only option in your area, can you simply file an absentee ballot so that your vote cannot be electronic?
- swiftheart, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1With some work, yes. For instance, many states (such as Ohio) have "no fault absentee" voting so you could just request a paper mail in ballot and vote that way.
On election day, at the polls, is a different matter. There's no requirement in Ohio law to furnish a person with a paper ballot if they choose not to vote on the DRE. However, provisional ballots are no longer cast on the DRE, they are cast on paper instead.
So if you really wanted, you could force your vote to be cast provisionally so you vote on paper. This could be done by saying you forgot your ID at home....and using the last four of your SSN as ID, or taking the "no ID" oath. - vertexoflife, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1They use Windows Access on the machines.
