(Marxism -- it shows -- see Raila Odinga) - inactive, on 10/15/2008, -23/+50I am shocked that it now appears that Americans are begging Obama to raise their taxes.
Playing party lines is wrong in 2008. Use common sense. McCain is the true centerist -- something for both the right and left. Obama is too radical for America. Think about it. - mike975, on 10/15/2008, -15/+39This won't hit the front page, only McCain bashing articles make it there.
- wjlaw100, on 10/15/2008, -12/+35Uh... well.... Oh boy.... now I'm worried. I'm a small business owner, and in trouble in this economy... and it doesn't sounds like I should actually get my business back on its feet, because I will be taxed more.. more work and risk for less of a chance to make money? Is this saying that Obama wants to keep companies from growing... isn't that contrary to the American way???
- dan222555, on 10/15/2008, -14/+37"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"
Was that Karl Marx or Barack Obama? - HazelButtercup, on 10/15/2008, -15/+36digg! This one's worthy of a front page showing! This is too important- Americans must see the true Obama in his own words. Yesterday: just tax the rich guy; today: spread the wealth= socialism.
- isamuelson, on 10/15/2008, -15/+36This is scary. God I hope McCain quits being Mr. Nice guy. If anything, it sure seems like McCain is reaching across the aisle to HELP Obama win.
The end of our freedom is coming if Obama gets into office. We have to vote him out and not let him step foot in the White House as President of this country. - mattatlsu, on 10/15/2008, -17/+37Please make a point of this at the debate tonight Johnny!
- LeadOffMan, on 10/15/2008, -24/+43blatant socialist.
- mcm297, on 10/15/2008, -7/+24Wow, this is frightening. Red Scare indeed.
- iMattK, on 10/15/2008, -4/+19Siszam -- you have a talent for drama, but not for telling the truth. If Marxism was so wonderful, why did the Soviet Union collapse and why is China running from it. Oh, by the way, we're essentially propping up Marxist Hugo Chavez of Venezuela who relies on the US to overpay for their oil -- look that one up!
- americaindanger, on 10/15/2008, -14/+28What is interesting is that Obama says regarding a flat tax that it would need to be a 40% sales tax to “REPLACE” the revenue needed by government. One question: Why not REDUCE the size of government to make up for the losses?
Because that’s not what “planners” and socialists like to do. - these3remain, on 10/16/2008, -2/+15Sort of like what does Obama and Osama have in common? They both have friends who bombed the Pentagon.
- iMattK, on 10/15/2008, -17/+30Nice one, Obama. We have you on "tape" and we'll be playing this video again and again and again.... I doubt enough voters will be shaken as many Americans approve of such behavior. Just wait until they start receiving their pink slips because their small business employer had to cut back in order to survive paying higher taxes.
- these3remain, on 10/16/2008, -2/+15Siszam, after you have held down a full-time job, are paying a mortgage and raising children, then you can come spew your communist propaganda. Until then, go back and hit the pavement and get a job.
- Hillsfar, on 10/16/2008, -2/+14You didn't read the entire conversation. It sounds much more reasonable in context. No one likes it when people take Obama or McCain out of context in their words. So it's up to you to take the time to read the whole conversation:
http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/NBC_The_Truth_Ab ... - inactive, on 10/15/2008, -17/+28Socialized Collectivism...individuals contaminate the collective good and must be re-educated. All hail the Messiah! For he has saved us from freedom and individuality! Share in the collective wealth so that no one is above another. Equilibrium and peace at any cost, we serve He who is The One. All hail Obama! The Great One! The Promised One! He who presents checks of wealth for those who are unwilling to work, for those who are uneducated, for those who prefer to serve the state by serving no one. Wealth righteously taken from the selfish burgoise who preferred to work and support their families, to advance themselves above others, rather than to work for the support and advance of their neighbors and our great collective society. We support the One for he will lead us to the Promised land, he will elevate us to a higher consciousness, he will cleanse our collective souls and wash the blood of the world from our hands. He will bring us back into the folds of humanity. The One will cleanse us of our ancient prophetic and useless Christian beliefs for religion is the opiate of the masses and threatens the common bond that shapes our destiny. Welcome to the Pleasure Dome.
Uh huh, and if that happens...get ready for the next American Civil War... - GeorgeFord, on 10/15/2008, -1/+12Both.
- webXL, on 10/16/2008, -2/+13Siszam, there are plenty of other countries where the vast majority are as naive as you are. And some that already impose Marxism whether you like it or not: China, Venezuela, Cuba.
They'll all accept you. Why not go? Why do you have to change my country? - these3remain, on 10/16/2008, -1/+11But you better own a gun now because Uh-bama will be taking them away.
- DerangedPenguin, on 10/16/2008, -2/+12Marxism is a great thing look at how many people it has enslaved and killed over the past century. Look at how Raila Odinga supporters murdered, pillaged and raped when he lost the election. Only after the blood shed became so great did a few cowards place him in office.
- brad3378, on 10/16/2008, -0/+9Washington D.C. is almost entirely $1,000,000+ homes.
They won't let a downsize happen because they make the rules and they don't want to turn into the next Detroit. - DeskFlyer, on 10/16/2008, -10/+19The desperation in this thread is palpable.
- these3remain, on 10/16/2008, -2/+11 Obama will not foster the American dream, he'll make it an American nightmare with his socialist/communist ideology as well as his racist friends. After all, his friends are anti-American to begin with, his campaign has desecrated the flag by replacing the stars with little Obama heads - Ayers, the unrepentant terrorist and Wright, who believes America got what it deserved on 911 and his own wife, who is finally "proud" to be an American - which means the 20 years sitting under Wright, she wasn't.
- ThinkOutTheBox, on 10/16/2008, -2/+10Funny, I talked to a guy today that has been to 90 different countries and he said that America is leaps and bounds ahead of everybody. Imagine that Europe with their semi-socialist countries aren't even up to par with America.
- RawShark, on 10/16/2008, -0/+7What do Obama and Osama not have in common? Obama's friends successfully bombed the US Capital building. Osama's friends failed.
- these3remain, on 10/16/2008, -5/+11More like a pathological liar who is capable of swaying the masses ala Hitler and Khomeini. The man is dangerous. If you ever wondered how Hitler came to power without a peep from the German people, now you know. They saw nothing wrong with what he said and did either. It is frightening.
- inactive, on 10/16/2008, -2/+8In other words you don't currently or have ever run a business.
- housewarmer, on 10/16/2008, -0/+6You've never been to DC have you?
- DerangedPenguin, on 10/16/2008, -3/+9Wish I could give you a thousand diggs up.
- brad3378, on 10/16/2008, -3/+8Shut the ***** UP.
People are losing their life savings because of this mess and I'll be damned if I'll stand by and let the looters take from the productive. Have some ***** respect for the people who actually run this country or go back to the U.S.S.R. - novaculus, on 10/16/2008, -4/+9Were you snoozing during Macro Econ 101? I got news for you, there ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
Obama is buying votes from ignoramuses, wishful thinkers and lazy greedheads who think they are going to get something for nothing. Ain't happenin' no way, no how. Economics just doesn't work that way.
When you tax the rich more for money made on their investments, they make fewer investments. As money available for investment becomes more scarce and costlier, production slows. As production drops, prices rise as jobs are reduced. As the economy slows, tax revenues decline, and combined with the costs of goods rising, the government will need a greater percentage of income to maintain the same level of services. It is a vicious cycle.
Time and time again it has been shown that the best way for everyone to have a better standard of living is to stimulate economic growth. The standard of living and economic conditions of the socialist European countries should be exemplary, but somehow the free lunch folks don't realize why we are so much stronger economically in a free market system.
There are always a bunch of lazy, short-sighted greedheads who are easy to convince if you dangle "free" money in front of their noses. The politicians will promote class warfare to gain political power. We may all get a chance to see for ourselves exactly where that will lead, and all too soon. - tol1488, on 10/15/2008, -12/+17Rob from the working and give to those on the porch with a 40oz, Marxism Rocks!!!
- these3remain, on 10/16/2008, -2/+7And force a referendum on term limits - so we can boot the rest of these crooks out on their fannies!
- alanocu, on 10/15/2008, -15/+20Obama sounds like a televangelist on steroids.
- brad3378, on 10/16/2008, -3/+7I'd let him or McCain raise taxes if they would cut the God Damn spending.
I refuse to support either candidate after their support of the $700 Billion No-Banker-Left-Behind act of 2008.
Other Americans are pissed too. Nobody is surprised about Obama's support, but I believe that McCain's support of this bill is the #1 factor that will lead to his defeat in November. - DerangedPenguin, on 10/16/2008, -1/+5Yes just like Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini a cult of personality.
Obama is damn good at covering up his ultimate plan to enrich his own pocket book via becoming the President of the United States. - inactive, on 10/16/2008, -0/+4"I hope McCain quits being Mr. Nice guy. If anything, it sure seems like McCain is reaching across the aisle to HELP Obama win."
EXACTLY !!! The very first Republican debate, McAmnesty came out with that "reach across the aisle" crap and I about puked right there. That was the key fault of the Bush Administration and the Republicans in Congress - those vermin don't compromise, they take then stab in the back. They are the enemy and McAmnesty wants to play Neville Chamberlain to them. This is the exact reason this guy should not be at the head of the ticket. He is not a RINO, even, but democrap lite. - DerangedPenguin, on 10/16/2008, -0/+3Siszam what kind of business do you run?
- sg1fan, on 10/16/2008, -3/+6she doesn't work. She doesn't believe she should because she has children. Women who work are slaves to a paycheck and are abandoning their family because of it... according to her anyway
- inactive, on 10/16/2008, -1/+4"My you're home be foreclosed."
And may you learn better English when you earn your GED, housewarmer. Then you might be able to own a home. - DerangedPenguin, on 10/16/2008, -4/+7Remember corporations do not pay taxes. They simply pass the taxes on to their customers in the form of higher costs. Often times these higher cost have a greater negative influence on the poor and middle class than they do on the "rich" Obama's tax increase comes on the shoulders of the poor and middle class not on the shoulders of the rich.
Raise the cost of butter by a $1.00 per pound to $3.00 and the family who budgets $100/week has $97.00 left to spend. The "rich" who budget $200.00/week now only have $197.00 a much less percentage of the budget. - iMattK, on 10/16/2008, -1/+4And there lies the problem. It is never our patriotic duty to pay higher taxes, but it is the duty of the government to manage what funds are entrusted to them.
- bckpitcher4587, on 10/16/2008, -10/+13The most inefficient way to spend money is for person A to spend person B's money on person C.
Stop giving money to the poor through huge taxes for welfare!
"Dependency is death to initiative, risk-taking and opportunity." - Mitt Romney
Instead, encourage those not in need to invest their money so that those who need it can take out a loan.
But no Fannie Freddie Clinton administration style NINJA loans either (no insurance no job something.. it was on CNN."
The government doesn't make money, it spends ours.
If we invest our money stays in the system. - JenniferInMO, on 10/16/2008, -0/+3@imattk:
I agree that our government has screwed us, but taxes need to be paid even if they run government responsibly. And I didn't vote for the losers in the past administration or the Republican Congresses who got us here, but we are here. We owe money, we have to end the wars responsibly and get out a.s.a.p. to stop the bleeding and we have a big bill to pay for falling for the Bush crap for 2 terms.
What Biden meant is that since Ronald Reagan was in office taxes for the wealthy and big corporations have been dropped with this massive devotion to trickle down. While trickle down policies have some merit (e.g. you can't over tax business and the wealthy or it will have an impact on jobs, prices, etc) it has been taken so far that the wealthy and corporations hardly pay ANY taxes much less their fair share. Biden was referring to their responsiblity to pay their fair share, although I agree he said it kinda funny and it made for a good sound bite. - inactive, on 10/16/2008, -0/+3Please tell me, where in the Constitution of the United States, it authorizes the government to redistribute money? You can't. And please don't use the "general welfare" clause. That is not the intent of the framers.
- CaptCarrot, on 10/16/2008, -1/+3Can we hear from somebody who's making over $250,000 who wants Obama to come in and raise their taxes, please? Because everything else is just class envy from the "I make less" crowd who think they're participating in another run for the Bastille.
- 140Suffolk, on 10/16/2008, -1/+3"Comparing" Obama to Odinga?
Obama helped Odinga raise money.
Obama went to Kenya to make speeches for Odinga.
Partly because of Obama, 1,500+ people were KILLED in Kenya when Odinga lost! - 140Suffolk, on 10/16/2008, -1/+3What a phony statistic. 90% of "businesses" are just a couple selling $100/month of Amway.
- CaptCarrot, on 10/16/2008, -0/+2"I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The chicanos. THE MARXIST PROFESSOS and structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets. We smoked cigarettes and wore leather jackets. At night, in the dorms, we discussed neocolonialism, Frantz Fanon, eurocentrism, and patriarchy. When we ground out our cigarettes in the hallway carpet or set our stereos so loud that the walls began to shake, we were resisting bourgeois society's stifling constraints. We weren't indifferent or careless or insecure. We were alienated." -- Barack Obama
