- scoobydoo84, on 10/11/2007, -15/+189This country is doomed!! When 41% of the country is this stupid we no longer need enemies!! Its no longer even worth getting angry about!!
- udahlen, on 10/11/2007, -11/+88Seriously, is there something wrong with you Americans? Is there something in your society that makes you believe things that are obviously untrue? I can't think of any other western society that would have this kind of mass delusion. Have your school system broken down? Don't you have news programs on your television? I mean, this is completely ridiculous!
- pintomp3, on 10/11/2007, -5/+78how the ***** does that figure RISE? are people getting so stupid they are unlearning facts now? the media is supposed to INFORM the public, this is a disgrace.
- art42, on 10/11/2007, -27/+96These are the same people that enabled the fascist Bu$hCo coup!
WAKE UP SHEEPLE!!! Stop listening and acting on the reicht's PROPAGANDA.
IMPEACH AND IMPRISON!!! - greenback1, on 10/11/2007, -35/+80I believe the universe is only 10,000 years old. I believe the president is doing a great job. I believe aliens from outer space are here and they really love the USA more than every other nation, and out of the trillions of potentially different life forms in the universe the aliens resemble humans. I believe in ghosts. I believe every Muslim is secretly and telepathically coordinating to kill all of us in America because they are evil and hate us for our Freedoms. I believe you must sacrifice our rights of liberty for our freedom.
I don't believe that the corporate politicians in DC could ever be corrupt, except if it is the ones FOX tells me are corrupt. I don't believe that the Council on Foreign Relations finances and handles both top tier Republicans and Democrats and that their agenda is to obliterate the borders between Canada, the USA, and Mexico and create a giant new North American Union which would benefit international businessmen and destroy America and our great middle class as we know it. I don't believe Israel is an Apartheid nation because those rotten Palestinian kids throwing rocks at Israeli tanks and fighter Jets are the real trouble makers. Oh, I nearly forgot, I don't believe that 9/11 was inside job because skyscrapers can collapse just like controlled demolition and fall at free fall speed. And finally, I don't believe 9/11 Truth will end war. - cphelps, on 10/11/2007, -1/+25Have our school systems broken down? They were never up to begin with. It's a sad truth, but an overwhelming number of American people are just flat out stupid. They believe what they are told to whether it is from their uninformed parents or our biased media. (to answer your question about news, yes we have it, but as I said it's all crap) Everyone is to lazy to read anything to learn facts for themselves. They watch the political shows on TV and eat up the garbage these biased maggots say like there is no tomorrow. I'm not one of those "tinfoil hat" type people, but the public at large is mostly sheep.
The basis of "American Society" is founded on broad sweeping generalizations, and it isn't limited to just some things. Does anyone honestly believe that in a country where it's common to idolize celebrities more than scientists who are working to save the world, and make it safer and livable for our children, that they care or want to learn about real issues? People would rather debate on who has better looking hair or discuss which celebrity is pregnant than study the facts about Saddam or even read the USA Patriot Act etc.
It's really quite pathetic these days. Sure the government shares it's own portion of the fault for how things are here these days, and the media as well, but a large portion of society is equally at fault and sadly in this country it takes something on the scale of 9/11 to even begin to grab anyone's attention. (no I'm not suggesting we blow something up to get attention) We'll see how things go after the next election though I suppose. /end rant - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -25/+47That is FAKE- there is NO way in hell people are that stupid. The criminals in power Bush and Cheney have admitted there was no link or denied every saying there was. Dont trust those BS propoganda polls. One poll tried to say that the majority of Americans were in FAVOR of the Amnesty Bill which was complete bull! The overwhelming majority was against that Bill but they just outright lied. This poll is also just a lie to convince people that the next war on Iran is supported by the MAJORITY of Americans. Liars liars pants on fire!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1X-I-38lrU&mode=related&search= - brister, on 10/11/2007, -3/+24Its not surprising considering most Americans couldn't find Iraq on a map, or the middle east for that matter. When you don't know anything about the world outside your own country, or even your own state, its easy to be brainwashed into believing anything.
- MiddleOfNowhere, on 10/11/2007, -2/+22"We've always been at war with Eastasia."
Lie consequently, and sooner or later, the sheep will buy it. - Junkyarddawg, on 10/11/2007, -5/+23I disbelieve.
< rolls dice >
Yep, made my saving roll. - circusugly, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18Last night on 60 minutes I saw the report about the MP who blew the whistle on those savages at Abu Ghraib prison. After he was outed by Donald Rumsfeld (probably on purpose) his home town in Ohio turned against him. His family had to move because the Army told him he wouldn't be safe there. So American's believing this crap doesn't surprise me in the least. Most American's will believe anything if it comes from a chimp in an expensive suit who looks like he knows what he's talking about.
- grr74, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17Listen to NPR, they seem to report news. FOX is apparently exempt from reporting fact.
- gordonj, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16That's not at all surprising (although it is alarming!) given that at least 50% of Americans (Yes votes + don't know votes) clearly exist in a government cultured state of mental retardation. If anyone ever wondered what it would be like if humans were farm animals need look no further than the US.
- BooChihuahua, on 10/11/2007, -7/+22SHUT THE HELL UP AMERICANS!!!
I don't want to hear your whining any longer. If you really mean what you are saying about your government, then do something about it and stop your crying! Next election I want to see a party other than the Republicans or Democrats get into office. If they still get into office then I was right all along. If you show me, and the rest of the world, that you are serious about change, then elect a different party next term. If not, then SHUT THE HELL UP!!! - jimmiss, on 10/11/2007, -11/+25We're all just slaves now anyways.
- StrangeFamous, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13NPR is one of the best remaining objective news sources outside of the internet. There are very few left at this point.
- Junkyarddawg, on 10/11/2007, -15/+28Man, you started out so well in that first paragraph, then ruin it with a paranoid NWO/troofer rant in the second.
- Th3Zodiac, on 10/11/2007, -5/+17Who did they Poll the Bush and Cheney family only?
- caleb4mj, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15The difference is the 40% who believe the government was behind the attacks of Sep 11th do not ignore or forget facts. The "news" tells you exactly what you want to hear. Want to believe Saddam was behind 9/11? Just watch Fox. Want to know the truth? Research it.
The best evidence we have is from the wreckage of the WTC buildings and the lack of proper investigation. But after seeing how honorable and courageous Americans are today, supporting anything but the truth, I guess nothing I say can convince you Bush is the boy who cried wolf. When we lose our ability to defend this country it will not be because I complained about WMDs or 9/11, it will be because you did not listen. - nosecohn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12How can any respectable media organization feel that it is serving the public interest with numbers like that? 9/11 was the largest attack on our soil since Pearl Harbor and 41% of Americans don't even know who did it! If I was the head of any news outlet and I learned that I had so failed my customers, I'd be ashamed. Somebody... CNN or MSNBC or some other major news outlet... needs to produce and promote the heck out of a prime time special: "Who Were the 9/11 Hijackers?" They should run it every day until the polling numbers start to show that their viewers are at least minimally informed.
- MrVictor, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14My god! Who the ***** are these idiots? I want to find one so I can punch them in the face.
- jp3550, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12Can we say brainwashed?
- Luchio, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10There are news networks, but they only talk about Paris Hilton. When they talk about politics, it's usually a 2 minutes segment followed by 10 minutes of punditry with always the same commentators and pundits that preach their opinion. Then, back to the main story, Paris!
And don't get me started on "news shows" like lou dobbs, bill o'reilly, nancy grace and all these commentary shows that start after dinner... You can only get real news during the day (when everybody works), cause after 6pm, it's only commentary!!! - matriculated, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10@MrVictor: Well, just punch anyone around you - there's a 2 in 5 chance that you'll hit said idiots.
- Conseal, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Wow, that's terrible. Those people can't even be called stupid, they're just not thinking.
- avisgoth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Wow, just wow. You just admitted to liking the way a member of the Westboro Baptist Church expresses themselves.
- jellygraph, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10When America catches the stupid-cold, the rest of the world takes an aspirin
- StrangeFamous, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10"They hate our freedom" has no basis in fact. It doesn't point to any specific instances or events, it's just a way of simplifying an incredibly complex situation, which is why this administration uses catchphrases like it so often. It gets people riled, without really teaching them anything about what's going on.
Who's "they" and what's "our freedom"? It's not as simple as Us vs. Them. - grr74, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12@wayback09
you should open a statistics book... - Easty, on 10/11/2007, -10/+19Sheeple? Bu$h?
You're not helping the cause, you know.
Seriously, 'sheeple'? - AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -0/+9Wait what...? Bush's approval rating drops to 28%, but the ***** he spews from his mouth goes UP in percentage?!
This nation is ***** with a capital F. - Kewlduderules, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Man, this is a sad day in America. No wonder why the rest of the world hates us. The stereotypes about us are somewhat true- fat, stupid, arrogant, and being a bully.
For goodness sake people, open up a book and learn something instead of watching American Idol or talking about Paris Hilton.
Get off you fat a$$es and do something for yourself an your country. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Um, no. Your government did not believe it had proof of Iraq's involvement. They knew there was no link. It WAS farfetched, and they knew it. It was common knowledge that Saddam and Bin Laden were idealogical poles apart.
Your government just lied to you. - circusugly, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9They're probably in the fly-over states. Salt-of-the-earth types. People of the land. The common clay. You know, morons.
- ajamer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9We should deport this 41 percent and replace them with our Mexican laborers
more than a fair trade I say - DoctaStooge, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7snooly, if you have been day dreaming about leaving the US, why not just grow some balls and do it already. If this country is really causing you psychological damage, then its your own damn fault for doing something about it. Oh, and by the way, Shirley Phelps is just as brainwashed as everyone else (including you) you know, she just happens to be brainwashed in a different way. Also, screaming "How dare you..." does not "nail" anyone.
- caleb4mj, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10Junkyarddawg should listen to the babes in bikinis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvfmZvppKKU
I certainly don't believe that 9/11 was an inside job either, I mean steel melts like butter when you put it in fire. ;) Every time I try to heat up some steel with a Bic lighter it melts. It sucks. And if I were to drop a steel ball down onto the roof of a building it would pick up speed as it smashed through all the floors. Nothing stops or even slows down falling debris. I know this because I learned physics on Sep 11th. - BrokenWind, on 10/11/2007, -5/+12no worries, we've always been this stupid, yet we manage.
- meechwings, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8We do have news programs. Unfortunately they're on a network called "FOX News."
- BohicaTwentyTwo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Let me get this straight, 41% think Saddam did it. While about 33% think Bush did it. That leaves only 26% to believe that it was done by a bunch of pissed off Muslims.
- twiceasworn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Actually, what needs to be said, promoted and publicized is the fact that it was an inside job. Jet fuel and office fires don't burn hot enough to melt steel. Period. Also, quite interesting that WTC 7 came down identical to a commercial demolition. Not to mention that there was no plane wreckage at the two other sites and the fact that they have NEVER released the passenger list, but had a list of hijackers out the next day? I will say the Administration has gone to great lengths to cover this up. But really, all in all we were deceived into starting a war so all the large corporate entities can make millions of dollars. It has been happening since World War 1. Stage an event to create fear and anger. Use that fear and anger and mold it into ammunition for war. Go to war, make money for your corporate investors.
I won't even get into the Federal Reserve and how ***** that system is. - Dralha, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6GW was annointed king in 2000 by the supreme court, and in 2004, diebold voting machines changed democrat votes to republican, if the machines worked at all.
- Waiting2awake, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7None are so helplessly enslaved than those that think they couldn't be.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6This is most disheartening... I wish more people would read the news and find out the truth... It's not like they have to go far to see what's real and what's fabricated.
- scott2007, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7I'd like to do a poll on how many Americans believe Saddam Hussein was a US ally prior to the first war against his imperialism and how many Americans know who his principal arms suppliers were. I'd also like to know how many Americans believe bin Laden and Bush are friends and that the administration executed the attacks. And how much do Americans really know about Hussein's WMD programs and his long history of impeding the UN weapons inspections, or how many he murdered, tortured and raped in his own country? Did Bush decide to invade Iraq all by himself or did the Senate give him approval, and by what majority and who supported it? Sure, there are lots of ignorant Bush supporters out there, but they're just as ignorant as most on the left. We all pick and choose our "facts" as we are spoon-fed them by our demagogues. Politics is ridiculous.
I've seen these phony surveys many times and they're always about how ignorant Bush supporters are. Excuse me, who controls the media? It usually flops around, but in this it's always "liberal". Of course, these whores are just trying to sell advertisements by publishing outrageous and usually ***** news.
Long live the republic........ - Novagenesis, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9Hate to agree with you Easty, but all-bold and dollar-signs in Shrub's name don't do much for people...No, calling him Shrub doesn't either, but I've given up on trying to turn people against Bush. Everyone I talk to in real life think Bush is the next Hitler and quietly wait for him to disappear.
- Albionshores, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I can't stand the stupidity anymore....
Can somebody stop the world please? I want to get off. - Look4Truth, on 10/11/2007, -5/+10The NWO-controlled media is getting desperate. They know people are waking up left and right and they're trying their hardest to keep it under their control which they won't be able to. The truth is going to come out no matter what they do now, it's too late, the genie is out of the bottle.
- nosecohn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5The full poll results are here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19375611/site/newsweek/
Interesting that they list the "correct" answers in bold, yet number 5 is pretty much an opinion question: "From what you know about the situation, do you think the United States is losing the fight against al-Qaeda or radical Islamic terrorism?" According to the pollsters, the correct answer is "No."
And number 9 indicates that the majority of people know which nation the hijackers came from (Saudi Arabia), even if they think Iraq was behind it; seemingly a contradiction.
