- sunaeryn, on 04/13/2008, -2/+23Hypocrisy thy name is Clinton.
- meese, on 04/13/2008, -4/+22How long will the list of questionable donors, bad trade deals, and fabricated, absurd campaign stories have to grow before the media calls the Clintons on this nonsense?
- bluevillage, on 04/13/2008, -1/+15This is only the tip of the iceberg, obviously. There's far too much of this. The Obama campaign should begin asking the media to investigate each of the revelations that have been made about Bill Clinton's dealings with foreign leaders and businesses, the donations they've made to his foundations, and the conflicts of interest they cause. The media only began looking into Hillary's claims of foreign policy experience etc. when Obama himself suggested they do it. This is serious stuff, far more important than some ill-chosen words that don't at all represent Obama's own feelings about small town Americans.
- smacksaw, on 04/13/2008, -1/+12But, but Obama...his wife, CFR! CFR PEOPLE! They support the Canadian Finals Rodeo!
- meese, on 04/13/2008, -1/+11An important thing to notice with this story is that they didn't just give Bill Clinton money (in which case he wouldn't be responsible), but instead he actually met with them and gave a speech, and then they gave him money.
- GawtMilk, on 04/13/2008, -0/+9I don't know. They use a photo of alibaba.com, a very clean company that is like a Chinese Craigslist, as if to say that this is the company in question. OH WAIT. Just read the article. Saying that "alibaba.com helps China squash Tibet" is just ridiculous. If Craigslist carried the wanted ads for a "terrorist", it'd be fine in America but it wouldn't go over well in Afghanistan -- and it shouldn't. Different countries have different enemies, and who cares if a company let it's government put up wanted ads -- it's just freedom of information. You can't pick and choose who to give freedom of speech to...
That being said, when Ron Paul recieves shady campaign contributions, it's "why give it back when he can use the evil money for good". When the Clintons do it, it's "woah they're just plain up evil -- taking campaign contributions from an online classifieds website". I mean, the Clintons spend roughly six times more on charitable causes than the Hildabitch's campaign, so who cares?
Plus the donation was from 2005.
I live in Hong Kong. Ads for alibaba.com are EVERYWHERE. I've also used them to display an advert when I was selling camera equipment. They're not an "evil corporation" and the founder is a pretty decent guy.
Keep this slanderous trash off the front page; it's simply unfair.
I'd like to vote for Obama, and I see that Clinton is not a step forward, but there's no reason to lie and rely on hearsay and conjecture to form arguments against her. Use the perfectly legitimate ones -- for example, she's a lying cheat. - inactive, on 04/13/2008, -0/+6Obama and his Christian preacher will have us living under Islamic law!
- mecharabbit, on 04/13/2008, -1/+6Yeah, China loves Tibet like sharks love baby seals.
- missingnoh4x, on 04/13/2008, -0/+5Interesting.....Obama is accused of stepping on his tongue yet several frontpage stories contain the full speech with its context. He basically said a lot of small folks in the US are pissed off and rightfully so. Simply amazing. Change the name of CNN to Clinton News Network.
It's kind of sickening but funny at the same time. Clinton and her dumbass husband are giving the republicans plenty of firepower if she does actually get the Dem's nomination. Oh ya, has anyone looked at bclinton's comment history? No? I thought not. A ton of racist anti Obama writings. He was a huge Hillary activist there. - inactive, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4Nah, pretty much everyone thinks he's a *****.
- VINLANDER, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4Colombia is not a dictatorship, you dumb ignorants!
- meese, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4Hey, it's the LA Times's spin, not my spin. The media blows up over much smaller things than this.
- Cittidel, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4This is no different from Ron Paul receiving money from white supremacists.. It's just that it's Hillary that it's a 'bad' thing, this is a bit sad.
- csm888, on 04/13/2008, -0/+3So just to clarify, the American Democratic system....Corporations whose sole objective is to make money, donate this money to a candidate, The reason for this donation remains secret, and after a decision is made which is weighted by money from this donation, we are unaware.
And the US calls this democracy...Its not democray, its pure capitalism, your country is controlled and laws are made, not by the will of the people, but by the MONEY!
Its all bollox, maybe the French had it right... revolution..chop of their heads and redistribute the wealth - missingnoh4x, on 04/13/2008, -1/+4Keep Digg free from politics? This is a news site, and the political news section of the site.
- digitalpencil, on 04/13/2008, -0/+3Who? The American people?
Practically everything is manufactured in China and whilst I entirely support Tibet's right to freedom along with many of China's own citizens, it is impossible to boycott China as a manufacturer without supporting another 3rd world nation with an equally questionable human rights record. Fair trade is great, but the way it is managed is completely impractical for the average consumer with costs climbing upwards of 300% over non fair-trade. The vast majority of people simply cannot afford to boycott China. - jellygraph, on 04/13/2008, -0/+3ditto. Digg explicitely has a politics category. Duuuh
- CheeseburgerBro, on 04/13/2008, -2/+5Everybody knows that Tibetans are terrorists.
And the so-called "peaceful" Dalai Lama? Last week when my aunt asked if she could borrow a cup of flour for her baking you know what he did? He sucker-punched her in the trachea. My ***** sixty-year-old aunt! Seriously. ***** that guy.
China represents the moral standard we should all endeavour to live by. - inactive, on 04/13/2008, -0/+3Aren't we sponsoring them with every Made in China product we buy? Hypocrisy? no, we don't have a choice... right
- digitalpencil, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2Thanks for pointing that out..
- joshtj, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2Yeah, forget the fact China is merely exercising it's muscle within it's own borders, while America has been messing around in foreign affairs for the last century. What China is doing might not be right, but there are plenty of American corporate interests she could boycott too.
- inactive, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2very good, Clinton is China's friend. Thank you for making China the most favored trading nation, and overseeing the WTO.
- phrank496, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2i'm with you man.. candidate elections should be based on who is going to be better for the country (although i dont vote.. im not even american! but i care since if you guys screw up choosing ur president, we (venezuela) are screwed... even more than we are now with Chavez-correa-CK-etc and only Uribe having the balls to face them) not who receives money from who..
Also, my view on the candidates... i would go for clinton.. but since she doesn't has a chance anymore, im going for McCain.. This whole Obama campaign reminds me to much of the Chavez campaign, and you guys already now what happened to us with that.. I now it doesn't like the right choice, but McCain is the best from the worst.. don't risk your economy and well-being on some guy who just promises "change".. - inactive, on 04/13/2008, -1/+3Go to hell, obvious astroturfer.
- AtHomeBoy2000, on 04/13/2008, -1/+3And Obama is the one with "skeletons"? Bill has a whole crypt.
- macwac, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2Of all the possible charities to donate to, alibaba decided on the clintons? that's not a coincidence..
- soinie, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2Hillary and Bill are clearly being exposed as a couple of the biggest pigs in politics. And there goes Bill's legacy, right down the toilet.
- jimfin25, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2China should just crush tibet to have this over with.
- missingnoh4x, on 04/13/2008, -2/+4Obama butt boys. Wow, that's almost as witty as calling him Barack Osama! It must've taken you a lot of effort to come up with that line, especially given how many comments you've trolled with it!
- inactive, on 04/13/2008, -2/+4Oh shut the ***** up and go join the marines to fight in your failed ***** war, you douchebags.
- egoideal, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2It's a charity people, it goes to helping others. What is wrong with all you? This site has had so many misleading and outright false accusations against the Clintons that I can't even trust the one's that seem legit.
- WilliamDavis, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2McCain? Is that you?
- tna11595, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2what's wrong with anti-white pro-black writings? There's been anti-black pro-white writings for the past 400 years and the white US gov't has done ZERO about it.
- HanSolo69, on 04/13/2008, -1/+3Man, I remember when I used to be proud of Bill Clinton as our first black president. And now it's come to this...won't somebody please think of the children?
- catbeller, on 04/13/2008, -1/+3How long are we going to see the more internet-savvy Obamaites cluttering up Digg with this crap? Seriously? The Clintons aren't lying Nazis, and Obama is no saint, and neither is he a demon. Knock this off. Buried.
- csm888, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2I'm not French, but you are clearly American.
I'm from England...yeah..you know...the one that seeded yours...
But ***** knows whose DNA you got. - JPOOPOO, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2NEWSFLASH: who the ***** cares who they get donations from? We praised Ron Paul for accepting donations from open racists and put it towards his campaign but Clinton apparently can't do the same? I'm an RP supporter and this kind of hypocrisy disgusts me. Honestly there are so many reasons to dislike and also to like the Clintons but this lame excuse is just one steaming pile of *****. Buried.
- inactive, on 04/13/2008, -3/+4Die, fascist pig.
- tweak33, on 04/13/2008, -3/+4seriously this ***** is getting ridiculous.... did you hear about Hillary eating a small panda whilst burning an American flag??? for ***** sake, give up on all this ***** and name calling and get on with policy debate such as you do during an election. stop getting this ***** to the front page, it only gives Obama supporters the idea their winning....
- jellygraph, on 04/13/2008, -1/+2Hahaha... that makes a lot of sense! Good joke
- JoeFelice, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1The title is deceptive. It implies Hillary's campaign received the money, rather than Bill's charity.
- exgop, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1His reputation and legacy can be summed up with a cum stain on a blue dress.
- jchrome, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1"Alibaba"? And the Forty Thieves? Are you f*ing kidding me?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0036591/
lol - mandraque, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1Colombia is NOT a dictatorship! The Clintons should be applauded for having a good relation with them, for its Uribe (colombian president) that has keeped Chavez in check, and Chavez is no match for him. Uribe has 75% approval rating, HOW IS THAT A FREAKING DICTATORSHIP!!!
- lgm1213, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1you misspelled COLOMBIA twice
- opticwind, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1All of your shoes, your clothes, your bottled water, your kid's stuff animal, the wheels on your car, the bag, your ipods, and your sunglasses are all made in China. None of you can criticize people for supporting China when you are its biggest supporter.
- inactive, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1Sorry I meant Venezuela not Columbia.
