- whataboutdave, on 08/31/2008, -23/+91People still care what "Evangelical Conservatives" think?
- studiouslaura, on 08/31/2008, -18/+70Easy, k55fr, she will do what white women of privilege have been doing for centuries: pay a woman of color or a woman in a lower financial class than she to care for the children.
The problem is not "how will Palin care for her family?" The problem is how well would she govern? To my mind, this woman is so anti-choice and anti-woman that she cannot possibly represent the interests and needs of women, over half her constituency. - pastorAgnostic, on 08/31/2008, -19/+67Most Americans have not recognized that she is a creationist, meaning that her universe is 6,017 years old and evolution does not exist. Like many other republicans in office, she has her own ethical standards which are also at odds with her alleged christian beliefs.
A vote for her would be dangerous for our country. - cerealjynx, on 08/31/2008, -5/+36Sorry, can't digg you down. Even if I disagree, your words are well thought out your argument is sound.
Try random obscenities next time! - Echota, on 01/05/2009, -17/+43Christian right throws Palin under the church bus
http://www.lefthudson.com/2008/08/christian-right- ... - biogears, on 08/31/2008, -19/+43And not all leftists are thrilled with Biden.
- Vash01, on 08/31/2008, -8/+27IMO how she cares for her 5 children is her personal issue (I would not do it if I were in that situation, but that does not necessarily make me right and her wrong). Besides there is plenty of help available to care for children, even one with Downs Syndrome.
However, I am very concerned about her lack of experience, should something happen to the 72 year old McCain while serving as president (heaven forbid!). Can this woman be trusted to run a whole country that is having its worst time in several decades? My answer is a strong NO. - Reynardine, on 08/31/2008, -3/+22I've been waiting for somebody to actually explain why they'd vote for McCain. Thank you. As long as you're a single-issue voter, can you please tell me what you know of McCain's current economic advisor?
- deleo, on 08/31/2008, -7/+24Who gets on a cross country flight after their water breaks and doesn't even tell the stewardess that they are in that condition? This wasn't 10 or 20 years ago either? This was recent.
What happened if she went into active labor on that flight and had to give birth in mid-air? Her Doctor said it was ok to fly, is her Doctor crazy? Sarah should not have been flying in that condition. Flying after your water breaks can increase the chances of infection to both the mother and child during child birth. This is not something that should be condoned or repeated by anyone. - TSK05, on 08/31/2008, -6/+24Not all people in a huge group like another person, big surprise. Not all Democrats like Obama either..
- inactive, on 08/31/2008, -6/+21Debated? There is no debate between evolution and this joke of a pseudoscience, creationism. It's like trying to stage a debate between modern chemistry and alchemy; there is no debate. One is legitimate and one is not, end of story.
- marabout40, on 08/31/2008, -5/+21Is that what Dick Cheney spent the last eight years doing?
- inactive, on 08/31/2008, -6/+20flip, your post is riddled with ignorance. Please take your idiocy elsewhere, Christian fool.
- inactive, on 08/31/2008, -5/+19I'm sorry but Christianity and Republican policy do not go together. Christ taught people to love thy neighbor, yet these crazy conservative politicians support endless war and anything that helps the common folks gets labeled instantly as "socialism" or "communism."
- afpunk, on 08/31/2008, -2/+14Most people don't have a problem with creationism being discussed in a public school, if it happened in say a world religion/philosophy class. Supporting creationism being discussed in a science classroom is intellectually dishonest, at best.
- UTKEngineer, on 08/31/2008, -9/+22Who goes to DailyKos to find out what conservatives think?
- Nightzet467, on 08/31/2008, -4/+16you're an ***** my friend, that doesn't mean much, or at least shouldn't. Women are stupid ONLY IF they vote for some women to be in office because they themselves are women.
- Nightzet467, on 08/31/2008, -0/+11VP's should be involved with decision making of the president. If they aren't then what experience do they have if the president is incapacitated for any reason
- inboxnews, on 08/31/2008, -9/+20VP's don't run the country. They sit around for 4-years taking care of their families.
- mnpilot, on 08/31/2008, -0/+11Jesus would be labeled a terrorist by the Bush administration and probably taken to Cuba to be tortured because he led a group of middle eastern men.
- sugarazor, on 08/31/2008, -2/+13Saddleback wasn't even a debate... it was a bunch of Bible thumpers talking about things that have nothing to do with a secular nation. Sure, McCain got a nice applause line claiming he would "defeat evil" or "go to the gates of hell," but us adults saw that as the absolutely ridiculous nonsense it was.
And he won't debate in town halls because McCain's town hall meetings are padded with Republican supporters. If he'd agree to do one on neutral ground, Obama might go. - davidg11, on 08/31/2008, -1/+11What? There are people called nannies?
What are those? - Poopfacemanboy, on 08/31/2008, -9/+20THIS IS DUMB!
- EatingPie, on 08/31/2008, -5/+16You've obviously never hear of day care, or even grandparents.
This comment is totally racist and ill informed. Many, many families in America have two working parents and must utilize day care.
-Pie - TheDarkstarter, on 08/31/2008, -2/+11In a 'debate' class that's fine, in science class, not ok.
- fleischner, on 08/31/2008, -11/+22Well, this is from Kos, so it must be sage advice. I remember that Kos piece about a group of black people who weren't ecstatic about Obama... oh, wait... no I don't.
- lolcoderer, on 08/31/2008, -3/+12This should be discussed in a church, but never in a public school and especially not in a science class. Creationism / Intelligent Design is a not a science. It should not be discussed in public school. Period! Evolution is just as much fact as gravity.
- chrissku, on 08/31/2008, -14/+22Let's all at least agree that John McCain made a poor decision in selecting Sarah Palin.
- dn11, on 08/31/2008, -1/+10she wants creationism debated in science class? or philosophy class? big difference
- chrisdjohnson, on 08/31/2008, -4/+13The bottom line is, would you ever want to see a scenario where Palin would be sworn in and takeover as President of the United States? If the answer is no or I don't know, forget Mcain and vote Obama. We are electing a President and a Back-up President...PERIOD. There is no way I would ever feel comfortable with her becoming the President.
- LoveAndSeagulls, on 09/01/2008, -0/+9Your comment is so... stupid...
You're implying people who want to get married and have children will vote for her because she's married and has children? Seriously?
Please tell me you're joking... - kaskarn, on 08/31/2008, -3/+12I won't digg you down. I don't think people should be dugg down when taking the time to patiently lay out their opinion.
However, you must recognize that the rest of the world is running fine on policies different than the ones you know in America. I am from France, but for the sake of not raising bias (down with the froglets!), let's take germany as an example. It's policies are much more 'socialistic' than the ones in the US, yet it has a balanced budget, and an economy doing fine in despite of the financial crisis. I think there is a somewhat unjustified scare in the US of 'red' policies and as a result, ideas associated with socialism are demonized (universal health care, etc.) even when the capitalist-er alternative is shown to be less efficient and more costly. Health care in the US is twice as expensive as a european one and leaves millions of people in the dirt. What is the logic behind keeping such a system? - DailyActivist, on 08/31/2008, -7/+14I think you missed the point or didn't read the article. The diarist at DailyKos is not arguing that a woman shouldn't be able to take the same jobs as men. She is simply pointing out that there are members of the Christian community, who the media has portrayed as being supportive of Mrs. Palin, that don't approve of her taking on the role of Vice President. This diary points out the hypocrisy on the right and the poor reporting of the traditional media.
- pwnsey, on 08/31/2008, -0/+8Dugg down for not understanding anything...
- dn11, on 08/31/2008, -2/+10being a "devout Christian" doesn't mean you take the Bible literally. and only a fundamentalist would claim that such individuals are faulty in their beliefs
- cboj, on 08/31/2008, -2/+10Actually I am waiting to hear what that douche Dr Laura has to say about this too. It could be funny seeing her trying to support Palin while telling all the other woman to stay at home and raise their kids.. much less a special needs child
- sndream, on 08/31/2008, -2/+9This is new?
There's no politician that can satisfy everyone, just as some evangelical zeal might not be thrilled with Palin, not everyone that support the democrats are thrilled with Biden. The only difference is evangelical won't get yelled at when they express doubt about the VP pick. - sugarazor, on 08/31/2008, -4/+11Families are off-limits only applies to Republicans. The Right certainly had no problem attacking Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton or even calling a teenage Chelsea Clinton a "dog."
- biogears, on 08/31/2008, -6/+14the left has such a double standard
- DotGet, on 08/31/2008, -5/+11Yes, money is more important than the lives of soldiers, freedom fighters, and hundreds of thousands of civilians. And you seemed so close to being credible.
Even so, dugg up for the economic know-how. - melfster, on 08/31/2008, -4/+11There is a rumor that Colon Powell along with other Military and Political figures are going to come out and announce their support for Obama the week after next. They going to say that Palin is not qualified to be Commander in Chief and Obama/Biden are qualified to be commander in chief. Once this is done McCain is toast.
- kingofinternet, on 08/31/2008, -3/+10I won't digg you down, but you are aware that George Bush is a Republican and had a Republican majority in congress for most of his presidency.
You would be very hard pressed to claim that the economic policies of George Bush were contrary to Republican policy. Republicans can no longer claim fiscal responsibility and voting for Democrats does not equal the sort of radical economic redistribution you summarize as 'taking from the rich and giving to the poor.' You're quick to distinguish McCain and Bush, why you can't for Obama and Carter is quite confusing.
In fact, taking the example of the mortgage crisis, which you say isn't the fault of the government because it was the lending institutions that 'got greedy.' These lending institutions were able to offer these loans and financial institutions were able to sell these as securities because of the (mainly Republican) notion that government involvement (that is to say, regulation) is an absolute evil. You can't blame them for human greed, but you can blame the government for turning its back while borrowers, lenders, and investors played with fire for profit. So what once was commonly thought of as 'fiscally conservative' ends up far worse both macro-economically and to average Americans--who arguably bear the far shorter end of the stick, bye bye home and 'murrican dream. Those who profited off of the securities are long gone, with quite a lot of money--I know a few of them.
Well, I could go on about the role of government, or how universal health care is good for business (due to rising health care costs on business, etc.) but it's not worth it, and the simplified statements in your comments hint that you have ingrained and absolute notions of what is good and bad that would be tiresome to try and untangle.
Digg me down. - dtfinch, on 08/31/2008, -3/+10A pro-Palin article on Daily Kos...
G*d I hate evangelical conservatives. Being reminded of their existence has ruined my day. - Garlik, on 08/31/2008, -3/+9Well, she's got a problem now. If the baby is hers, then she, like the article said, put politics ahead of her child's security. If it isn't hers, then she's lying about her family, which isn't the best start to her nationwide publicity, and it could possibly undermine some of her "family-friendly" views
- dstz, on 08/31/2008, -5/+13"Easy, k55fr, she will do what white women of privilege have been doing for centuries: pay a woman of color or a woman in a lower financial class than she to care for the children."
Yeah that's why S. Palin let go the personal chef from the governor mansion so that her children don't find it normal to have someone to cook for them. ( http://mobile.latimes.com/detail.jsp?key=178261&rc ... )
If it weren't for Obama, anyone here with the slightest libertarian feelings would be thrilled by her. - forbush, on 08/31/2008, -0/+7If you have pro-feminism you must have anti-feminism. It's kind of obvious.
In fact many anti-feminist proponents say the feminist movement has achieved its aims and now seeks higher status for women than for men.
Anti-feminists point to an increase in divorce and family breakdown and attribute as its cause the influence of feminism. It is also cited that crime, teenage pregnancy, and drug abuse are higher among children of fatherless homes, considering that 66-80% (depending on the source) of divorces are initiated by women and that single parent mothers are accountable for 49% of all child abuse cases. - PabloMac, on 09/01/2008, -2/+8Buried by at least nine diggers who must think all leftists are thrilled with Biden.
- afpunk, on 08/31/2008, -5/+10Many evangelical Christians believe that, is the point. If you don't believe me, or this article, then you probably don't know many evangelical Christians. One baptist wedding I went to was so over the top you'd think I went in a time machine to go to it. All the "wife serving the husband" and "man running the house" that was spewed was disgusting.
- mikelieman, on 08/31/2008, -1/+7McCain: 4 bouts with Cancer.
Palin: Anyone who believes science supports the speculation that the earth is < 10,000 years old is unqualified to sit on a School Board, much less hold high office. Alaska has what, 800k people? San Francisco's bigger, right?
They'll simply hire 24x7 nannies and nursing care, and pay for it out of tax dollars. - k55f5r, on 08/31/2008, -33/+38Very good point- How can a mother of 5, 4 of which are under 18 years of age(one of them with down's syndrome) possibly care for her husband and children while helping to run the country?
