- JekJob, on 08/18/2008, -0/+18This guy is desperate. Or senile.
Both? - satyr9us, on 08/18/2008, -1/+14I heard he underwent sniper fire in Bosnia.
- rawg, on 08/18/2008, -0/+10It makes me cringe whenever John McCain uses his story of being shot down and captured by the enemy to cover for his failures and mistakes. Sure, McCain is tough as hell for surviving a POW camp but getting shot down and captured is not a very impressive resume for the commander-in-chief.
Eventually people will connect the dots and realize that maybe they want someone who actually completed his mission and avoided capture to be making decisions about military policy. Or they'll start asking some questions about what really happened in that POW camp and wonder why John McCain has worked hard to get those records locked up by both the US and Vietnamese governments. - ILoveBoobies, on 08/18/2008, -0/+8and the next time they ask he will nafme the starting lineup of o the Rockettes.
- 420buddah, on 08/18/2008, -0/+5I heard he invented the internet.
- inactive, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2Yeah, and I could provide sources all day for McCain's *****. I'm not gonna sit back and defend Obama, but you got to come down to earth a little when you're talking about McCain.
http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/archives/1612 ... - Paulginz, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2The video about Wright:
There's a difference between "controvertial" (he admits he heard controvertial stuff) and the hate speech TV showed. In fact, in that very video, you can hear Obama saying it himself.
As for his statements about the church not being particularly controvertial and the preacher talking about jesus, that's not a lie either. The vast majority of Wright's sermons weren't particularly controvertial. Obviously, the media had to get a story out of all of this and hence only showed the "interesting" side of Wright.
Hence no lie there.
Banking commitee: I wonder why he said that. No sane politiian would make that lie intentionally knowing that they'd be discovered in a matter of minutes. The official explanation is that he meant to say that it was "His Bill".
And yes, he did actively participate in the bill.
I guess that going from "I PROBABLY would have left the church" to not leaving the church is a flip flop... but hardly a lie. Neither of us know how obama's feelings towards his pastor had changed in recent months/years.
For the video on the surge, when he says that he had said that there would be some improvement, he was lying.
However, the other statements just show that he was wrong when he predicted that the surge wouldn't work, and when reports came in that it worked he did the only sensible thing and accepted the facts. As for the withdrawal dates... someone must have pointed out to him that his initial position would have led to disaster... but he lied again by not admitting the flip-flop.
This one is pretty good.
I do understand the reasoning though: You vote against funding, you see that the administration decides to cut corners on safety gear for the soldiers instead of other less immediate needs. So you can't in good conscience deny funding knowing that you're killing soldiers by doing so since Bush would never stop the war. And of course there's the "politics" factor ;-) kind of a "same old washington politics" way to play the situation, unfortunately.
The problem is that democracy in the U.S. has been battered so hard that it's reduced to choosing the lesser of two evils. I believe that Obama is no saint, and has a wrong position on some issues and an imperfect voting record but still goes nowhere near McCain in spelling disaster for the world. - azAZ09, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1Yes! Thank you! finally someone has the sack to openly analyze this guy's military disservice.
Time to ask this straight talkin' maverick what a "wet start" is. - kingofinternet, on 08/19/2008, -1/+1you have forfeited your right to complain about lying politicians
- inactive, on 08/19/2008, -2/+23? That's all they could come up with?
- honeybrass, on 08/19/2008, -2/+0All politicians will make up stories to help their campaign. It is just that they are usually a little move believable. How do we survive if our president can't tell a good story?
- SirLamer, on 08/19/2008, -5/+1Come on jeb this is lame...
I know you hate McCain but you weak arguments don't help you case. - inactive, on 08/18/2008, -9/+1Hmm would Mccain no, has Obama - almost every week there is a new lie.
Would Obama make up ***** about being a part of a bill (he only remarked on) and part of a banking committee he is NOT part of?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjzb61wfyN0
or lie about wanting troops in or out of Iraq or if he believed the surge would work?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHEIi4XKRmM
or this lie?
