- suxmonkey, on 10/10/2007, -2/+34So they're giving the most untrustworthy (correction: one of the most untrustworthy) people in the government control over some of the most sensative information in the US. Bush 1 - US 0.
- holotone, on 10/10/2007, -3/+30Bush: 3,056, US: *****.
- webcure, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21Have you ever heard the one about letting the cat watch over the cream? Not a good idea!
- Jazzillion, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Look on the bright side, if anything important happens with the information he won't know anything about it. Not one single fact.
Can somebody pass this country some lube, we're getting.... - Loonacy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Hey, at least if Alberto overhears you saying something incriminating, he won't remember it long enough to tell anyone.
- synthpop, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9"I now realize that I have been spying on your phone conversations although I do not recall ever doing so"
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Time to move to Canada, Oh Canada...

LOL. - evilregis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I'm pretty sure the Bush administration have an office pool going to see how much ***** the American people will take before REALLY doing something to save their country...
- havesometea, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7You 25%'ers are a scary bunch.
- TexasScott, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Can someone say.... Writs of Assistance? I know I sound like a broken record; however, these actions were exactly what the 4th amendment was intended to prevent. Searches without warrants.
- 1776, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6fantastic, an idiot leads our nation in the oval office and an AA baby without a clue heads up our justice department -and- holds the most power available to homeland security. Get rid of Alberto or get rid of the President so that the next guy can dump that loser.
- terrordome, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6It must be a great feeling for you Americans having an obvious liar in charge of spying on you.
- Cnat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Agreed. But it really doesn't matter who they give this power and oversight to (Gonzalez, Ashcroft, Reno), NOBODY should have it. Why should we trust the government to do the right thing?
- GRTWHT, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5And this can't possibly lead to abuse of these surveillance programs because.....?
Oh, I forgot, I'm just supposed to chant, "If you haven't done anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about."
I wonder what will constitute doing 'something wrong' next year, in 5 years, in 10 years, etc? - Waiting2awake, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5 And still the American public - those that have reminded the world time and again about how brave they are - sit impotent. Cowering in their homes, hoping, praying, that it all goes away. But it won't - because after all this time people still refuse to see that you have all been lied to by your government(s) and in the hopes that you wouldn't notice that they enslaved you - they told you bedtime stories about how brave, strong, noble and freedom loving you all are. The more you bought up that ego-tripe, the more they slowly widdled away your rights and more responsibility they took from you, and the more free they told you you were.....
To where we are now - The average America is not only incapable of doing anything about their slavery, but the vast majority don't even notice they are. Some are hoping for a democrat to change things - never seeing they are as much of a problem as the republican... You'll never fix the problem until you understand who and what is the actual problem. - billbacon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Sadly enough Iraq has been the most highly protested war in history. I've personally witnessed several protests that were marginalized by even "liberal" news sources who reported only about 10 to 25% of the turnout. Many protests have been broken up before they had a chance to start. I doubt most recognize what's really going as many buy into the democrat/republican liberal/conservative obfuscations but I believe fewer than the reported 25% still support this administration. One out of four people I meet definitely don't support Bush but I'm in California. Does anyone come from a place where they DO support Bush? What state are you from and what are your estimates?
- KMye, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5It's getting impossible to comment on this ***** anymore. Does anyone have a fast-forward button for until we have a democrat in office??
- humanerror, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3It's ok. Whatever information Gonzales gets, the next day he won't be able to recall it.
- ultralights, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3America, the land of the free! (note- extreme sarcasm)
- faithhealer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3@JamesSpaza: What are you talking about!? The law allows the DOJ to spy on emails and phone calls between a US Citizen and a foreigner--without a warrant. And the DOJ (Gonzales) is in charge of determining--without any oversight from any other branch of government--who they can spy on. You're the one lying, spinning, and spreading propaganda. I'll bet you $100 you haven't read the bill yourself--you're getting your information from Rush or O'Rielly or some other liar.
- Bdog2g2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3more like
Breaking: Forrest Gump chosen to head Middle East peace envoy.
Breaking: Rain Man chosen head FEMA
Breaking: I AM SAM, chosen to head department of Children and Family.
Breaking: Carl Spackler chosen as the next president
The sad part of it all, is all of the above would do better than what we have. :( - Bdog2g2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I'm sure the Bush administration has a "***** up" ticker in the oval office that steadily counts up.
- Bdog2g2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2farting, sneezing, breathing?
- zweben, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I doubt the average American even knows half of the stuff that's going on. Most people rely on the mainstream media for their news. The MSM is far too busy teaching them about important things like who Lindsay Lohan's new boyfriend is or how many DUI convictions Paris Hilton can rack up to bother telling anyone about eavesdropping programs.
- djvchris, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Breaking News: Michael Brown to become new head of Homeland Security.
- omnithought, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This is so doubleplus ungood.
- zweben, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2How about we impeach Bush, Cheney AND Gonzales?
It's not like there would be a lack of impeachable offenses. You could put them on post-its and throw a dart at the wall blindfolded to pick one, for simplicity's sake. - FredoBerfil, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2OK, I read it. It says the Attorney General and the National Security Director issue the "warrants" for the wiretapping, and the FISA court is essentially cut out of the process. It's exactly like this article said.
So where are you getting your info, drone? - Rustbelt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3WTF? Didn't the Democrats take control of Congress in 2006? Why do they keep bending over for the Neo-Con gravy pipe? Man I wish there was a third party. I'd vote for Perot in a minute.
- FredoBerfil, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I think it's bizarre how much the Democrats complain about Alberto Gonzales, and then they give him the power to spy and snoop on everyone.
Yeah, he won't abuse the power. Right, he's trustworthy.
We're so ***** doomed. - djvchris, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Hey! Rain Man could count toothpicks really fast; he's going to go places!
- carpespasm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1whenever i do that all i get is my rep voting whatever their party goes with anyway and a periodic letter saying "(subject) is of great concern to me, and requires much thought and deliberation on before voting too rashly on it. Therefore I'm not listening to you."
- FredoBerfil, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I called my rep and senators before this awful law passed, and I have since made another round of calls, and sent two rounds of emails, all on this subject. I guess it's letter-writing time now.
- BlacklabelSAR, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What makes me even more angry than the criminals in office, are the people that are not willing to realize it and do something about it. The Matrix was a metaphor. I will continue to vote 3rd party.
- billbacon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2***ALBERTO GONZALES FOR PRESIDENT 2008***
- sloetjes, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Atheism, red meat, smoking and women...unless of course you're married.
- rcook18, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This mistake can be corrected. To everyone who sat on your ass and did not contact your representatives, shame on you. If you don't contact your representatives now (now that you see that others are not going to protect your freedom), you don't deserve to be free.
- SavageBlackCat, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4It's like Janet Reno all over again.
- JacksonBlack, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I hope you're not counting on Hillary to solve any of this insanity. There are two modes of operation in Washington: Gridlock and catastrophe. Guess which one happens if a single party controls the legislature and the executive.
- CaptainM4d, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1In the great words of Star Wolf, "WHAT THE HECK?"
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0after all the *****... the dems voted FOR it... wtf???????????????
GO ANARCHIST!!!!!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchy - GoWayBird, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0As Leonard Cohen sang: "Democracy is comin' - to the USA!". Get on with it, guys. Or have you all forgotten how to VOTE?
- hellotyler, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1That's just... great... I submit!!! I submit!!! Ah, no, i'm being buttraped by the government!! Argh!!! How could you do this to me you sadistic bastards ?!?!
