- ironhide, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2And do you castigate your friends at the "fair and balanced" network? I didn't think so.
- supertater, on 07/22/2008, -8/+2I'm a HUGE obama fan (fine, fanboy), but this is crazy. They reject it because it doesn't contain his own views on iraq but is a critique of obama's position. He submitted it as a RESPONSE though, not an original piece. Why should it have to contain anything an analysis of what obama wrote?
- Sarahonweb, on 07/22/2008, -7/+2Oh really !!!
- MadKennyP, on 07/22/2008, -5/+11The NYT editor wrote: ‘It would be terrific to have an article from Senator McCain that mirrors Senator Obama’s piece. To that end, the article would have to articulate, in concrete terms, how Senator McCain defines victory in Iraq."
McCain should put forth his plan for victory in Iraq. And it would have nothing to do with Iraq/Pakistan border security. - veganvelma, on 07/22/2008, -5/+3http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/NYT_REJECTS_MCCA ...

- nahsrocketeer75, on 07/22/2008, -4/+8This essay is *far* more valuable to the McCain campaign for its having been rejected than it would have been had it been accepted without question. And anyone who dismisses the possibility of that having been the plan all along doesn't follow politics very closely.
- DuggDowner, on 07/22/2008, -5/+10And America rejects McCain's candidacy.
- nblsavage, on 07/22/2008, -6/+5I thought the repubs were big on corporate America being able to do whatever they please. They didn't have a problem with radio stations refusing to play the Dixie Chicks.
- nblsavage, on 07/22/2008, -2/+4for those digging me down. Please tell me what the difference is in the situation. Either the media is free to publish or not publish what they see fit, or they aren't. Make up your minds.
- Mothrog, on 07/22/2008, -1/+1Is there anything there that suggests that McCain wants the NY Times to be forced to publish his article? Just because they can do what they want doesn't mean they shouldn't be criticized for a lack of objectivity in their reporting. If you allow someone to publish an article attacking someone else's position, it's kind of odd when you don't allow a response.

- kelerps, on 07/22/2008, -2/+1I saw a story about this New York Times article on fox news this morning. They called the New York Times biased and then soon proceeded to call the whole media pro-Obama. I was thinking maybe we are the ones who are biased and fox news is the only "fair and balanced" media?
---- > Why was I watching fox news?
Well I was flipping through channels and I was the subtitle "New York Times says No to Mcain". At this point I was amazed that they would be reporting something negative about Mcain. However, after realizing they where just bashing them and mentioning anything wrong with their reasoning I continued Surf'n. I guarantee that was a first for me. - ironhide, on 07/22/2008, -3/+2The NYT rejected it because it was written in crayon.
