- serif69, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2Is anyone honestly surprised by this? The NY Times was partly responsible for her getting elected to the Senate in the first place. New York City is the land of the Clintonian Democrat. The only candidate in the entire race who stood a chance against her in New York was Rudy Giuliani, but we all see how that campaign is going.
My opinion is that I hope this means nothing for the race as a whole. I'd much rather see someone with conviction in their own viewpoints than someone who, in my eyes, is already tiptoeing the line of legality just to try to gain an edge. We've had enough conniving and bending of the rules in the last 15 years plus, and still have one to go. Let's not put someone in the White House who will just continue that trend. - drummerbrother, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2I've all but given up completely on the mainstream media. For goodness sake, they should NOT be backing ANYONE at this stage!! The NY Times has no journalistic integrity in my opinion.
- LemonDefragger, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1I have lost all faith in the New York Times. I've already canceled my subscription.
- dlrplus4, on 02/25/2008, -0/+0Thank God the New York Times is finally presenting information on both candidates. I am happy to see Senator Clinton is getting the positive endorsement that I believe she deserves. The media has had a field day promoting Mr. Obama. I think we are finally getting the real facts and hopefully not to late. Senator Obama is no doubt a great speaker. But I hope we can see that when it comes to turning our country around we need someone like Senator Clinton. Please all of you, learn the facts. She has done a lot of good for this country. Do not be hypnotized by speeches. Thank you for a good endorsement. We need to spread the word. Vote for HILARY
- srauland, on 01/26/2008, -0/+0I was surprised by this endorsement, although most of the points made in the justification are good ones. I only see one major flaw with the NYT's reasoning, but it is a huge one -- the claim that Hillary Clinton is as qualified as Barack Obama to bring "an end to the politics of division of George W. Bush and Karl Rove."
Polling over the past year has consistently shown that Hillary Clinton is the most polarizing candidate in the field. The real question is whether her edge in experience can overcome that -- I, for one, am skeptical. - christinap, on 02/01/2008, -0/+0This is the best summary, least b.s. article I have read thus far on Why Hillary and Hillary vs. Barack without a negative spirit and without injecting sensationalism about race, gender, oratory skills, likeability, or other b.s. flying around in the media today.
- pickhillary08, on 01/25/2008, -3/+0FINALLY, a sensible assessment of the differences between Hillary and Barack. I agree with this article so much I could have written it myself. Hillary Clinton is a "brilliant" woman and an intelligent Senator who understands the complexity
of the issues at hand, both globally and domestically. I think a Clinton/Barack ticket would be fantastic.
