- LuciusBrutus, on 10/10/2007, -16/+93I totally agree! Get on the bus baby! Use their tricks against them! Have no fear lying to liars! Have no fear stealing from tricksters and those who attempt to steal! Go get em! Ronbots Unite!
- mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -5/+74You're not obligated to vote a certain way when you take advantage of their accommodations, nothing wrong with this in my opinion.
I was reading on paul fan sites yesterday about this topic.. and many of the supporters didn't think it was fair and were against doing this because they didn't want to lie. ***** them.. Romney can't buy out the entire state, use his resources to your advantage. - LuciusBrutus, on 10/10/2007, -11/+58Don't let them buy the vote! Fight back!
- garryw, on 10/10/2007, -6/+49OMG!!! Im on the Romney bus right now going to vote for Ron Paul!!! And I'm typing on an iPhone!!!
(if this isn't going to be the most dugg comment in all history) - Channel, on 10/10/2007, -5/+45You'd have to be on heavy medication, if you think Mitt Romney would make a better president than Ron Paul.
- alstewart73, on 10/10/2007, -10/+46Go Ron Paul!
As a non-American I Digg his ***** due to the fact that, from the outside looking in, he seems to be the only candidate, maybe apart from Gravel, who seems honest, decent and down to Earth. The rest are all playing the political game, evading tough questions and smiling through their respective diatribes, all well-meaning but generally willing to keep the status quo and push their own agenda.
Also I can see why RP has a larger follwoing online, especially in places like Digg as there is an international contribution. I just hope all the positive things I read about his support online actually make it count when the votes are cast as I can't participate.
Back in the day I loved being Americanised as a youngster. Nowadays I shy away from Americanisms due to your continuing awful foreign policy and piss-poor Government turning you into a globally feared nation and pushed you right down my holiday destination list! But deep down I know the America I looked to as a kid is still there, it's just being hidden by a veil of religion/oil/ego-fuelled political mayhem at the moment.
Hopefully RP can put things right and earn you the respect of the world again.
Otherwise you're screwed as none of the other candidates are willing to cut through the crap and deal with the *****.
I realise my last sentance made no sense. - Albionshores, on 10/10/2007, -5/+29You don't even need to lie. Your vote is yours to do as you wish. Get on the bus and if anybody asks you say that you're on a Mit bus and wish to vote. Nobody has any obligation to disclose how they intend to vote. Even if they were to throw you off it would be alligning the Romney campaign with prejudice.
Catch that bus with clear conscience and good intent. Assuming that the bus can only seat so many people then that in itself is psuedo straw poll in action. The more Ron supporters the less Romney or vice versa. - JHattendorfII, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25look, i love ron paul and all but this is... nevermind, this is awesome and funny as hell.
- WilliamDavis, on 10/10/2007, -4/+27Actually, Diggers found Ron Paul. He knew jack ***** about Digg or the internet until his support started swelling.
- p0tent1al, on 10/10/2007, -2/+22I dare him to try to get someone arrested. That would give us much more media coverage that he really doesn't want.
- scabbers, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23I think Bush/Cheney are planning to end their term with The Rapture, so it's all moot.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -8/+26Get on the bus!!
- Herv3, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18I don't know the ratio of people who like digg and found our about Ron Paul or people who liked Ron Paul who liked Digg, buy I've been on Digg for about a year, long before I had heard about Ron Paul. The Ron Paul news has been refreshing and a breathe of fresh air. I digg Ron Paul stories the same reason I digg any other story, because I'm into them and "digg" them.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18Just as you have a right to write what you just said, I have a right to say you're a closed minded fool for voting for Double Guantanamo when this country is in the situation it's in.
We need a return to the Constitution and to what we stand for, not Romney/Guantanamo '08.
So, you've said your piece, but instead of mentioning why you like Romney, you just say you like Romney.
So naturally, since I've enough of Romney to make me dry heave when I see his face, I'm going to do my democratic part and call you a fool and bury your comment.
Democracy in action. Our country is in TROUBLE. The reason people like you are getting trampled is because patriots like us are sick of being nice, because being nice means the status quo tramples you without remorse. - mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19Well.. every candidate is doing the same thing.. Romney just has more cash than the others. Even Ron Paul is offering 500 free tickets.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -10/+24lets put this on the front page
- NeutrixX, on 10/10/2007, -5/+19Just my 2 cents. For all those who doubt Ron Paul as a serious contender, have a look at what he has to say before you dismiss him. He is the best candidate for President IMHO. If you want change, you must vote for someone with radical approaches. I can't understand anyone wanting anyone else in there. None of the other platforms have anything interesting going on as far as agendas.
- wvernon1981, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13I think this was humor in the form of irony
- Smoove, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14"False pretenses"? You mean like, "I paid them a bribe to vote for me, and they turned around and voted for someone else?"
Isn't that a bit like suing a hooker for failing to provide agreed-upon services? And how's that supposed to work? You win your money back but then go to jail for solicitation? - viciouspoultry, on 10/10/2007, -6/+18I hear that the Straw poll will be using the purple finger technique like in the Iraqi election last year. Here is a strategy infiltrate the Mitt tent and put purple dye on the BBQ and then all his supporters will have purple fingers and they won't be able to vote.
- WilliamDavis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Actually, doofus, I joined Digg back when the serial number fiasco was going on because the issue was making the rounds on the tech boards. Before that, I only knew Digg as a traffic generating source, and I didn't need Digg traffic.
Yeah, I knew of Paul beforehand, but I never thought he'd gain any type of popularity. - painted82, on 10/10/2007, -4/+15First of all, there is no intelligent debate involving Romney. The man is a power hungry politician who will flip flop on issues to get the votes he needs to get elected.
Second, neither you or Romney is a conservative. What kind of conservative promotes demolition of human rights by saying "we oughta double Guantanamo" or supports a politician who says that? You two are neo-cons. Please stop confusing yourself with true conservatives. - billm317, on 10/10/2007, -5/+16The campaign itself has nothing to do with this. If some broke college student wants to hop on a Romney bus, I don't see how that's being hypocritical. I would say fork out the $35 if you can, but if you can't, do what ya gotta do!
- billbacon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11The bus ride Romney is giving out is not a no-strings-attached free ride. There is an accompanying agreement form that has a check box stating that you plan to attend AND vote for Romney.
Since votes can be purchased by providing free tickets, a ride, and free food at the event, it is hardly scientific. Sure makes me wish I lived in a swing state though. - JayTaph, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Why wouldn't he be a foreigner? I too am a foreigner (Netherlands), and have a probably more-than-average interest in American politics (which pretty much started with The West-Wing :-)) . Like it or not, but when you as a superpower want to lead the world, please don't get angry that the world takes interest in whomever is leading/going to lead it.. So yes, American politics is very much our business as well.
I was pretty disappointed 7 years ago when Bush "won", but seeing the field for '08, i get scared.. Not scared as in "oh-well-and-let's-click-on-the-next-article"-scared, but really.. really scared.. especially when there is no way for me to do anything about it..
If i would live in America, i would most probably be a registered as a democrat, pretty much until Ron Paul. He's not the perfect candidate, and with some of his views I 100% disagree with but overall, the only candidate at the moment i would trust with the launch codes. He's speaks clearly, to the point and not ***** around to give the most political correct answer and knows his stuff... The whole process is already starting to look too much as a beauty-pageant... but for ugly people... - Smoove, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10He doesn't have to be for gay marriage or abortion: since he believes that it's none of the government's business, his private opinions will have no impact on anyone. He's the only candidate who WOULDN'T impose his private opinions on the public with the force of law.
- garryw, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9It's amazing!! There are 5 women for every man. And everbody is swapping songs on thier Zunes.
- TexasWaterSnake, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11You're just sore because your statist candidate doesn't generate anywhere near this kind of enthusiasm.
- neuropsychguy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Not everyone has a car or wants to pay for gas to drive the participate in this fake voting event.
- Albionshores, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Don't give pretense, let them assume. As long as your on the bus say nothing and let them assume you're mute.
- mntalkase, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10I like Romney too, honestly. But seeing a good showing from Ron Paul at this straw poll would affect the GOP race much more than the expected Romney win.
Ron Paul will not be the next President of the United States... but having him go deep into the nomination race will do much more for our republic than you will ever know.
Go Ron Paul, Go! - clinko, on 10/10/2007, -14/+22Ron Paul links to digg on his front page so supporters will join and digg his stories up: http://www.ronpaul2008.com
(This part goes to the person who came from http://www.ronpaul2008.com: I dare you to digg this comment) - mattryan50, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Actually according to business law you can't enter a legally binding contract by one or both parties offering to do something illegal such as prostitution. So you probably don't get your money back...but you do get to go to jail!
- tdp301, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8I don't see why using their bus is so critical. Ames is in the middle of the state, less than a 3 hour drive unless you live in Keokuk or something. What's wrong with driving there?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Hahaha!!! Are there other Ron Paul supporters there??
- LuciusBrutus, on 10/10/2007, -13/+20Oh yeah. Push this article up!
- shrugged0106, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8LOL, tell us all about what is going on around you!
- jron, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10he is for contractual civil unions to provide gay couples the same rights as married couples. Obviously, as an ob/gyn he would be pro-life. Despite this, he still says the fed has no business in the abortion issue and would allow the states to decide. Lastly, he has never and will never vote for any bill that regulates the internet in any form. net-neutrality is a form a government regulation.
- cogitocogito, on 10/10/2007, -9/+16Damn Ron Paul libertarian types. Always wanting a free ride...
- shrugged0106, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11I just heard live from Ames, that "Big Love" Romney's paid vote bus fleet is starting to arive...MOSTLY EMPTY!!!!! LMAO!!!
- WilliamDavis, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8This is really about the media prematurely putting the spin on a big Ron Paul turnout - into something negative.
Romney is already lowering expectations as well. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Ron Paul Radio broadcasting live from Ames
http://www.ronpaulradio.com/ - dweeb79, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10This is not deceitful, the problem is that big corporations are behind the main potientials while the litte guy has to find other ways to get votes. It would be like Microsoft vs Linux in the straw poll, Microsoft would purchase all the tickets to try to stuff the boxes. Poor little Linux only got 800 tickets so they would have to buy a Microsoft ticket to help support their OS.
This poll is unfair since the rich out purchase the poor. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8I suggest you leave the country then, because our Constitution and the Geneva Conventions we signed as a treaty with other countries prohibits that kind of thing.
I suggest you make your own damn country and stop trying to usurp mine, *****.
Go start a new government with torture, spying, and National Defense at the Expense of Liberty and see how many people flock to your cause. - hablabla, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8People, do some research before you flame somebody. A few clicks on google reveals that alstewart73 lives in Scottland. Check out his StumbleUpon profile. Bad Diggers, Bad!
- gotamd, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6The problem with this straw poll is that the candidates have to pay for votes. Why not open it up for free to the general public?
- TexasWaterSnake, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Or a welfare recipient. Personal or corporate.
- LuciusBrutus, on 10/10/2007, -12/+17Smiles!
- chrislooft, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I have a feeling you are going to be disappointed.
- wvernon1981, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Weak because he doesn't want to bankrupt our country by fighting non-threats such as Iraq? He voted for Afghanistan. Besides, it's congress's job to declare war, not the President's. If Congress declared war, I'm damn sure Ron Paul would do his best to execute it. His solution, which makes more sense, is to issue letters of marquee and reprisal to allow private citizens to go after terrorists.
